I liked the book much more, w the wife a smart, strong woman at the center of it all…the series has her much weaker, w of course the men elevated to more starring roles… but the clothes and interiors and shots of before times NY are fun.
Yes. I am into this show so much for interiors and NY seems to be like it is a separate character on the show. Other than that I find the details like Grace and Elena’s encounters being simply glanced over irritating which speaks to the sloppy writing and I finally decided that I really loath Hugh Grant. It is impossible to see a character rather than neurotic all grumpy Hugh. He is even unwilling to adopt any new body movements and gestures which as the same from film to film. He is basically himself in all his roles. I find him charisma-less. Sorry. I l know this is an unpopular opinion.
Henry has been my prime suspect since the start. Love Noah Jupe.
This show IS bonkers and there are so many hanging questions that I think they’ll just ignore in the final episode, unfortunately. Im hoping it was Nicole Kidman who killed her unknowingly/split personality — what else explains how weird she acts and reacts to things? Very strange character, or just strangely portrayed.
Also, Nicole has no ability to hide her Aussie accent anymore. It’s distractingly bad and I usually enjoy her as an actor.

I got sucked into this show because I was running out of things to binge. It’s…interesting. I have to say, as a Black woman and BIPOC attuned to how race is portrayed in media (it happens whether you want to or not), I was really disturbed by the seeing how little care is given to the boy’s character and what he witnessed and then the usual b.s. of how the father/husband of the woman is portrayed. It’s just so…usual and unimaginative and typical. 🙁 To start the show with that quaint credit video of the red headed white child all innocence and then to treat the brown child in such a way…It was upsetting.
Those opening credits go on forever…okay, Nicole, you can sing, we get it.

Not just walk but walk from the Upper East Side to Harlem. That is one hell of a walk.
What I like about The Undoing is the fact that I can’t be sure who did it with one episode left. I usually can figure it out early. I’m stumped. Hope I’m not disappointed.
I don’t even think it’s Harlem–I think it’s the Bronx. Harlem doesn’t have elevated subways like Elena’s neighborhood does.
I really enjoyed the first couple of episodes but am almost hate watching the recent ones. I’m tired of Nicole Kidman’s perplexed stares and Donald Sutherland’s whole character. It’s always great to see NYC, since I’m can’t travel there, but the plot is getting ridiculous.
It really is. I went from the marvelous The Queen’s Gambit into this and I’m disappointed. I think the show thinks it’s highbrow, but it’s trash lol. Hugh Grant is good in it, though.
Highbrow trash is right, somewhat enjoyable if that’s all you expect. Nicole Kidman’s character is weird, but love her clothes and curly red hair
I can’t stop at this popping and seeing that it’s a short series makes it easy
Is anyone else watching the doc series on immediately after called “Murder on Middle Beach”? It’s been very good.
Nicole’s face is just frozen – she has no expression at all she cannot move her face. Hugh Grant looks so normal with his wrinkles and face movement.
Surprisingly Hugh Grant is one of the highlights of the series. He does look like a normal 60 year old man, craggy, but still pretty handsome. He can be both charming and devious. Kidman just looks blank all the time.
Actually, Nicole’s forehead moves. You can see in many scenes the lines. No matter what, as the years go on, I have zero lines in my forehead. Someone accused me of botoxing my forehead, and I laughed. So the lines I’m seeing in quite a few scenes are allowing her to move her forehead. I guess she’s lightened up on the botox in her forehead. I have always liked that she’s left her eyes alone. Her lips are back down to being the thinnest I’ve seen in decades. Her cheeks in this movie aren’t those big chipmunk cheeks she was doing for a long time. Those are the positives.
Okay. Here’s where it goes wrong. I have never looked at Nicole’s chin area, but there is something so off. Did she get a mini face lift and her face is pulled so tight that the bottom half of her face looks odd? Sometimes I fixate on it. Is she putting filler in that part of her face and it’s making it look bigger. I don’t know what she did, but I have never seen the botom of her face look like that at angles, kind of big and immovable.
In many scenes she looks the closest to the old Nicole I’ve seen in many years. In other scenes and/or at different angles, her face looks odd. I do adore her wig in this movie. It looks so natural and soft. The color looks so real, not fake. I love seeing her in red hair. I notice she’s wearing minimal eye makeup in this movie compared to other roles
She is so tall and willowy. The way she carries herself is mesmerizing on screen. I do love her coats in the movie.
Yes, I agree her face is so distracting in this! To me, it looks like she has done a lot of jawline defining with fillers but it made the whole bottom half of her face much larger, wider and more squared off. There is also a ton of filler all around the outside of her mouth, in marionette lines and the chin area, giving it a strange puffy look all while still having smaller lips.
I haven’t watched it yet, going to maybe binge it over the long weekend.
I think Henry is being pushed to the front as a suspect, the most recent episode sure makes that extra possible. Obv, Jonathan is a sociopath and if that can be genetic– I can see how that might make for a good twist. We see evidence of Jonathan being a sociopath, suspect him…but really that clue is meant for Henry.
I thought for sure it was Grace early on and her walks coupled with her REALLY bizarre mannerisms would absolutely male sense if she has a split personality, though I recently read a book where a lead had a split personality and that was the big reveal at the end and it was SO cheesy, I hated that as the explanation and would hate it here too.
Lol @Kaiser, I always love it when you say something is “bonkers”. It always makes me wonder if it’s just awful, or so awful it’s good. But with The Undoing I just can’t tell!
Nicole Kidman sure looks great with dark blonde hair. I wish she’d wear it that way more often.
I might watch The Undoing so that I can say more about her than just about her appearance.
Well, it seems to me that Grace’s blonde friend is going to turn out to be the second woman he had an affair with. In the movie, he admitted to his attorney there was only one other woman he had an affair with. So I think it’s her. She was so jealous of him falling in love with another mistress that she killed her.
Yes! Lily Rabe’s character is definitely on my suspect watch.
Precisely what I thought when he confessed to one more affair. Yes, I think it could be her primarily because the actress is not someone you cast who shows up as a sidekick mom friend of Grace. She’s too good to waste.

Yay! This has been my theory for the last two episodes. He told his lawyer he had an affair with another woman besides Elaine. Sylvia had an affair with Jonathan. He even told his lawyer that the murderer was someone who was jealous of him. He broke up with her and she still stayed friends with his wife because in the NY society scene it would look bad for her to be considered a home wrecker. He called upon her for help when he got in trouble with the hospital and she became jealous that not only did he have an affair with another woman, he was in love with her and had a baby with her. Sylvia then sees Elaine at the fundraising meeting with her daughter and at the fundraiser. Hugh leaves early for the hospital at the fundraiser which is a lie, Grace leaves with Elaine, Sylvia follows Jonathan, sees that he is with Elaine, he leaves after they have sex and she goes in and kills Elaine in a jealous fit. Notice how much Sylvia is included in the shots in the last two weeks, always in the background. BTW, I live in Manhattan and it is a very long walk from the Upper West Side to Harlem. Its almost an hour walk to get there much less walk back.
SPOILERS UP TO THE MOST RECENT EPISODE!!!! Whoa. Completely slipped past me. For sure the “other” affair has to be significant. I remember when he said it, I wondered if there was another dead woman out there. And then I completely forgot all about it. It would make a lot of sense if Lily was the affair AND the murderer. But what about the hammer? That part is odd. i had wondered if Henry followed either his mom or dad, and from there I couldn’t decide if HE was the murderer, or if he just saw the murder scene and maybe assumed it was his dad, so he took the hammer to protect him? And of course i have considered that Grace did it from the beginning. The easy way out would be for her to have a split personality. i want to read the book now. I adore Nicole and Lily, and have enjoyed this series for the clothes and settings like many others…. They have done a good job of casting suspicion on so many people, and that is always cool to watch. But I am so worried that the finale will be a disappointment.
I think it’s Sylvia. She was the other woman and killed Elena out of jealousy.
Also very strange was when she arrived late in court (to “support” Grace) and she nodded and waved to the prosecution lawyer. What was that about?? Was she late because she knew the family would not be home so she planted the hammer in Henry’s case? It was at the Grandfather’s home but she was friendly with the family so maybe the servants didn’t think there was a problem letting her in?
The way Kiefers character stars at Hugh Grant with such disgust is hilarious.😂🤣
One sociopath recognizes another. The lady lawyer is the most watchable character of the whole series. They should create a series just around her.
