In the area where I live, a 20 minute commute is the norm.
I spent two weeks in South Korea and was amazed at the public transportation. It was awesome.

If this guy ever runs into the kind of 24 Million Dollar problems like Leibovitz, I’d not only have unconditional sympathy but would also donate to his cause.
That said, Ludacris has done a fantastic thing by enabling 20 financially stricken folks to get back up to their potential.

Hieronymus Grex, if they were given a job how would they get to work? A lot of people have to travel for work. Not everybody has the luxury to work five minutes from home. Also mass transit is not always the best solution. There may not be mass transportation in the area, the bus/train line may not go to a certain area, the hours of operation may start/stop too early, etc.

I live in Atlanta and if you’re going to work here you have to own a car. There is a great transport system, my husband takes the train downtown to work, but anyone who lives within the train area pays an assload on their home or apartment. They have set up the best schools near the train suburbans so everyone who wants their children to be in the best school district and live near the train pays twice what you’d pay to live in another area. And the traffic is horrendous!
He did a great thing.

It is a nice gesture, for sure. I hope the expenses of a vehicle don’t make their thrill premature (gas, insurance, sales tax, tags). I remember when Oprah gave everyone in her audience a new car and it proved to be a bigger burden for some of the people than they anticipated.
