She must be feeling guilty over the fact that all of those people are starving, whilst she herself has the oppurtunity to live in abundance. It’s just like any other mother that would rather see herself starve instead of her own children.

That’s most likely why she has dropped weight during these kind of missions.

I really hope she get’s a bit more healty now though. Seeing as she has dropped to that weight once again. She wont be helping herself, her children or anyone for the matter in such a prolonged sickly state.

She can stand to gain 15 lbs , I can stand to lose 15 lbs. That’s life. As for her attire, did you critisize Salma with her breasts hanging out while on a UN trip in Sierre Leone? Should she have worn that tight low cut white t shirt

Just wanted to add if angie really cared sooo much about these people she should have had some respect in her attire, this see thru shirt, with her arms exposed and her bra showing is not acceptable for their culture, angie doesn’t seem to respect their culture.

Yes, her people did tell her to do humanitarian work to change her image, it is also a fact, angie said it with her own mouth in an interview, Iread the article.

There are so many other celeb aide workers,they just don’t go around bringing their personal photogs and distributing the pics everywhere, the keep it low key, probably because they are doing it from the heart and not for other reasons…

there are so many other celeb un aide workers, charlize theron mike douglas….Angie seems to be the only one that brings her own photog and distibutes her visits nationally for PR, the others keep it quiet.

I agree Jules, it’s not fair to have the celeb swoop in. But, it’s a celeb-obsessed world. So, they are able to drum up the attention, or “goodwill” the ordinary folks can’t. It’s the system that should be blamed here.

As for Angelina, she’s done this for 10 yrs, I believe? Each time she goes, it’s a risk to her life. In addition, she donates money, so that also adds to her efforts.

Most other celebs seem content to write a minor check, show up to a charity ball in fancy clothes schmoozing with other celebs, or shoot a 20 second commercial. If that’s what passes as being “charitable” in Hollywood, then what Angie does is admirable, by comparison.

I see that my earlier post was “unde moderation,” but it has pretty much the same message as Irm and Mairead, that there are extremely disadvantaged persons living under extreme conditions, unlike anything in the U.S. Angie’s role is bring attention to the denial of basic human righs that we as Americans take for granted. And she does a great job using her celebrity status and status as an Ambassador to get some of us to become affected enough to make a change or a difference if not in the refugees’ lives, then maybe somewhere closer to home.

it’s not for PR for her,but for the cause. which is why she will agree to certain trips,IF they will generate alot of publicity-ie,she has to pick and choose,and receives alot of invitations.
Also,she’s an ambassador for the UN,so I’m sure they take precedence.

I lived in kenya for a couple of years,and got a coule of friends jobs at an organization that processes refugee apps there. They actually had to live at dadaab for months for part of the gig! NOT a pretty place-even for the workers,who admittedly have slightly better digs. But it’s not great,just a step above camping,with locust swarms and all the disease that comes with camp life with no formal facilities.
Still,the stories of people walking days to get there with diseases unimaginable-is far worse.
And,let’s not get started on the treatment of women,and the rapes that occur in these camps.
i dont knwo what good AJ’s publicity will do-b/c the situation has been this way for so long. [my dates mentioned are from the mid 90's]…but,maybe the awareness will do some good.

Don’t know what,exactly,when the US supplied somalia with their arms,and inf act are responsible for that underground network of weaponry there.
What kind of weapons do you think the somalis used against the US? well,american made,of course!
back when we armed them for the big bad fight against russia.
Just like we are now doing with sudan in protection against china-which is an economic threat mor ethan anything.

you have to wonder if these policies are ever really thought out in terms of long term effect,or if history is studied?
