Well, everyone was right! Literally everyone in the comments and on social media said that Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez would officially break up within a month, and that’s exactly what happened. On March 12th, Page Six and People Magazine both confirmed that Alex Rodriguez and J.Lo had broken up. By the next morning, they were back together and working through their issues. Alex came to visit her in the Dominian Republic and he seemed especially eager to make things right, probably because he had been cheating on her constantly and sliding into random reality stars’ DMs. Jennifer stayed and I guess they figured out all of their joint business interests and all of that. So now almost one month later exactly, they’re over.
Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez are officially going their separate ways. The performing sensation and the former baseball slugger, who have been a couple since 2017, have called off their two-year engagement and will focus on remaining friends. The two revealed the news in an exclusive joint statement to TODAY.
“We have realized we are better as friends and look forward to remaining so. We will continue to work together and support each other on our shared businesses and projects. We wish the best for each other and one another’s children. Out of respect for them, the only other comment we have to say is thank you to everyone who has sent kind words and support.”
Reports first circulated in March that they had called off their engagement, but multiple sources told TODAY at the time that the two “never officially broke up” and were still together.
“They hit a rough patch that made them think about what they should do,” the sources added, noting that it was tough for the couple to see each other amid COVID-19 restrictions while Lopez, 51, was working in the Dominican Republic and Rodriguez, 45, was in Miami.
It became pretty clear that Alex was the one doing the most to get Jennifer to “forgive” him and she was… not really feeling it. I mean, she loves a grand gesture, and I think she loves being part of a power couple. But I respect that at this point in her life, she’s prepared to blow up some business deals and end an engagement because she isn’t being treated with respect. It must f–king suck to be hot and amazing like Jennifer and dudes still cheat on you. Alex is so gross. Oh well, now he can go back home and cry to his centaur painting.

I thought that was interesting too. There have been rumors about them hooking up on and off over the years. Not sure he’s ready for Bennifer 2.0 though. If true, hope she’s not trying to make it official.

Good for her making this split stick with A. Rod. I knew, back when she was explaining why they hadn’t gotten married in the midst of so many other projects she (they) had going on, that she wasn’t ever going to marry him. Her responses reminded me too much of the time she went on Oprah and, when asked about how marriage was going (I can’t remember who she was married to that time) she hemmed and hawed and then it came out they’d broken up shortly afterward.
I agree with this, except it’s Alex that never had any intention of actually marrying Jen. lol I knew that was never going to happen. The minute they announced their engagement, I said “He’s never going to marry her.” She knew his reputation beforehand, everybody did. So, it’s hard for me to feel sorry for her. Congrats, Lulu! I have been with the most wonderful man for the last 3 years, and we are both in our 60s – I was single for 20 years after my divorce, and he’s been divorced twice. I know exactly what you mean about refusing to put up with any ARods. Sometimes I think I’m living in a romance novel – it is not true that there is no, um, physical love in the second half of life!!
I just turned 53, and met my soulmate – a term I never believed in until now – almost a year ago. I wasn’t expecting it, as it was two years after ending a 30-year relationship (21 of those years married), but I can honestly say I now realize how it’s really supposed to be.

Alex had a well known reputation that he was definitely a cheater and a ladies’ man, so Jennifer had to know before dipping into this…..I guess she wanted to find out for herself. I agree with others, that she is unable to be alone for some reason…..last time this happened, she grabbed up Casper Smart as a temporary fill in.

That’s what I don’t understand. She has so many projects going on and working in films, music, etc., why does she have to be with someone?!? I can be single to be clear, and I guess I used to judge women who couldn’t be. But I’ve lived a lot since then and there are a lot worse qualities to have. Who really cares? If a person is happier coupled up, and in that flush of love, who cares. As long as they’re happy. I don’t believe it automatically means you’re insecure or hate yourself or any of that stuff. It’s just how you’re happier.
The fact that she’s such a “romantic” that she entangles her business affairs with men just because she’s involved with them is absolutely something to judge. It shows she lacks discernment, has poor boundaries and seems hella codependent.
At least this relationship hasn’t involved her financially boosting her partner into a role he was ill prepared for (and negatively impacting her coins).

And it was announced this week that A-Rod was part of a group that bought the NBA’s Minnesota Timberwolves and a couple of other Minnesota based sports franchises. I wonder if that didn’t factor into the delay as well.

+1 million . I have a friend who is a gorgeous blond Swede. Every guy she has ever been with (except for her current husband, to my knowledge) has cheated on her. She told me once that she realized she always dated guys who were only semi-attractive because she thought that they wouldn’t cheat if they were less attractive than her. Some women just attract a certain type but they never think the man is a cheater when they start dating..
Oh I have a “friend” but like more of an acquaintance who is in my general social circle. About a decade ago she had this whole thing where she was dating what she called “ugly” men on the presumption they would treat her better. She said that they treated her just as badly as the good looking guys she was going out with, including cheating, not wanting a commitment, etc. I thought it was funny, but very outside how I think about relationships. She did do a really funny schtick on it though.
