Carrie Prejean ‘I feel like Miss Universe; God chose me; intolerance disgusts me’

Decrowned former Miss California title holder Carrie Prejean gave an impassioned speech last week at a conference for a conservative Christian activist group, The Family Research Council. Radar Online has a video of part of Carrie’s speech and she goes on at length about how she was a shoe-in for the Miss USA title but got shut out due to her answer against gay marriage during the question and answer period. She comes across as incredibly self-righteous, which isn’t a departure for her at all but she does ratchet up the volume here, and says things like “Miss USA needed me,” “I feel as if I’m Miss Universe,” and “God chose me.” Maybe she was preaching to the choir at that event, but she looks like a deluded fool to the rest of us. This woman was handed a lot of opportunities and while she probably did lose the Miss USA crown due to her answer at the pageant, she definitely only has herself to blame for the way she alienated everyone afterwards. Donald Trump even gave her another chance after pageant directors outlined the many ways she violated her contract – and she blew it with her attitude.

The Miss California USA controversy may be old news, but Carrie Prejean isn’t fading away into the background. On Friday, Prejean – saying God chose her – spoke to a group of 1,700 Christian conservative activists in Washington, at the Family Research Council’s Values Voter Summit.

Prejean said she has been subject to intolerance for her staunch stance against gay marriage, the opinion that kicked off a media firestorm last spring.

“Miss USA wanted me, needed me — they needed a woman like me,” Prejean, 22, said. “And I knew as soon as I didn’t give the PC answer, I knew there was no way I would become Miss USA.”

Prejean said she was subject to a “vicious storm of attacks” after the controversy ensued.

“I feel as if I’m Miss Universe,” Prejean said. “God chose me for that moment, because he knew that I would not only stick up for him… but that I am strong enough to get through all of the junk I have been through.”

[From RadarOnline]

We know you feel as though you’re Miss Universe, Carrie, and that you think you’re on a mission from God to deny people their civil rights, but the rest of us just think you’re full of yourself. Ironically, Carrie says toward the end of the video when talking about the media backlash she received that “I am so disgusted at the way that some people can be so intolerant. It disgusts me.” Right back ‘atcha, honey. She also gets all choked up and starts to cry before she says “even though I didn’t win the crown that night, I know that the Lord has so much of a bigger crown in heaven for me.” Somehow I don’t think she’s crying at the prospect of meeting her maker.

This isn’t the last we’ll be hearing of Carrie Prejean. Along with continuing to play the wronged poster girl for conservative values, she has a book coming out in November called “Still Standing: The Untold Story Against Hate, Gossip and Political Attacks.” Radar quotes Carrie’s publisher as saying she wrote it herself and didn’t use a ghostwriter. Gee, I wonder if she’ll take any responsibility for the way she refused to work with pageant officials, shirked multiple event appearances, and violated her contract by not disclosing several nude photo shoots taken ahead of the pageant. God is on her side, though, so she can do no wrong.

I’ve heard a name bandied about a lot for J. Gosselin -“douche bag”.
The term very much also fits this Prejean dipshit.

  2. DD says:

Oh my god. Does this girl understand the meaning of the word intolerance?
The fact that she is an advocate against gay marriage makes her exactly what disgusts her. Not a very bright girl.

  3. Guest says:

she & kirk cameron are one of a kind.

  4. Praise St. Angie! says:

    The Family Research Council?

yup, the org that wants hotels prosecuted for making pornography available to its guests.

yet another conservative group that seems to be obsessed with OTHER people’s sex lives.

  5. Diane says:

Her future: fund raiser for the Pubs, looking forward to the Palin and Prejean tour = )

  6. bored says:

Christian groups are probably the only place she can get work now, so she’s going to be riding this pity party wagon for a while.
If she truly was feeling the intolerence she describes she would have backed off on her own hate a bit.
Christianity is not synonymous with anti-gay.

  7. Sudini says:

It’s funny, but I think if most of these “christian” conservatives actually sat down and talked to Jesus himself, they’d end up just trying to argue with him and make him sad. Stupidity.

  8. Bodhi says:

I call massive BS on her actually writing the book. Bitch is totally incoherent at best

  9. Obvious says:

*sigh* I thought we were done with her. She has alot of ugly in her for a pretty girl.

I believe in equal rights for all, my sex life is my business not yours just as your sex life is none of my business. Who cares if you’re black, white, straight, gay (any other combination that can be inserted here)? According to the bible God loves us all anyway. SO maybe-just maybe we should stop telling others how to live their life and just love one another the way the bible teaches. wait, scratch that Christians are fundamentally incapable of this teaching sorry.

:edit: i don’t mean all, i am mainly talking about those who are the “Do as I say not as I do” variety.

  10. Lem says:

snort. intolerance towards her disgusts her. Her intolerance is righteous, perhaps?

I really am blown away by the amount of people who proclaim “I’m a christian, let me judge you” I think it’s the only religion in which *some* members use this logic. I’m thankfully not as christian, but if I were it would be hard to be christianly toward those using the religion to further there own agenda.
Like I said, I’m not christian so I can so with no reserve..for god’s sake child, wth gives you the right?

  11. bros says:

what is it with these schizophrenic god chose me freaks? anywhere else these people would be diagnosed with delusions of grandeur and put away in a sanitarium somewhere to sleep off their complete grandiose delusional crap. shut up prejean, god didnt choose you. you arent miss universe and no one cares what you feel like.

  12. Green Is Good says:

This woman is an idiot. Her own hypocrisy completely escapes her.

  13. Anastasia says:

I’m Christian and don’t subscribe to THESE Christians type of thinking at all. I agree with every single post in this comment thread. It’s disgusting to use religion/God/whathaveyou to hide behind when you’re really just a bigot.

  14. Kaboom says:

You know you talk too much crap if a career in Porn would actually improve the amount of respect people give you.

  15. Lucinda says:

What makes me sad is she gives Christians a bad name. Not all of us agree with her but she acts as if she speaks for all of us.

is special for you. (added bonus, the girl in this clip is actually gorgeous, intelligent, funny and real – opposite of Prejean)

  17. Hieronymus Grex says:

Out of all the great inspired biblical intellects, and the deep thoughtful spiritual scholars who have made the Word of God their beacon to shine on the world, to save men from the dangers of sin and perdition, who could have ignited an epic revival across this country-

THEY CHOSE THIS BLOND MATTRESS-STAIN TO SPEAK TO THEM.

Which goes to show how irrelevant the Family Research Council has become.

  18. I Choose Me says:

@Sudini. I heart your comment so much, I think I might frame it and hang it on my wall.

  19. Celebitchy says:

LOL @ the video Trillion sent! Thank you! I had no idea Kirk Cameron was doing this. tool. “atheistic evolution” give me a break.

  20. Mairead says:

@Bodhi – you are, of course, assuming that the book is approaching intelligible. 😉

I thought God chose Mel Gibson – what gives? 😕

  21. Praise St. Angie! says:

    sudini, agree 100%.

    Jesus wasn’t about hate.

  22. Rosanna says:

All right another post about CP. Then *you* call her “hater”. And.. who’s a hypocrite?

  23. Hieronymus Grex says:

Re- Hypocrite : That would be you Rosanna for your willful inability to grasp this simple concept.

  24. Lita says:

Rosanna – is it the fact that there is a post about her, or that CB reported it giving direct quotes, allowing people to form opinions, that you take issue with?

  25. 4Real says:

Be gone talentless bleach job, boob job clone.
