President Biden shook hands twice with ‘killer’ Vladimir Putin in Geneva

Russian president Vladimir Putin and American president Joe Biden met today. They are meeting right now, as I write this, in Geneva. In the past week, President Biden has attended the G7 Summit in Cornwall, the NATO Summit and now this added-on mini-summit thing with Putin. This is happening on “neutral territory” in Geneva for many reasons, one of them being that many European leaders are terrified of Putin’s widening influence and interference in their regional politics. During the four years of the Trump administration, America left Europe in the dust, and Trump actively marginalized America’s historic European alliances and emboldened Putin’s actions. The Biden administration is the start of a new, trickier era of Russian-American relations, but Biden is also doing this to help out Europe and NATO.

In the days before their meeting, Putin was interviewed on NBC News, where he lavished praise on Donald Trump, calling him “an extraordinary individual, talented individual… He is a colorful individual. You may like him or not. And, but he didn’t come from the U.S. establishment, he had not been part of big-time politics before, and some like it some don’t like it but that is a fact.” Putin called Joe Biden “a career man. He has spent virtually his entire adulthood in politics” and correctly assumed that with Biden, “there will not be any impulse-based movements.” Putin also correctly said that the relationship between America and Russia is at the “lowest point in recent years.” No joke. Because our current American president isn’t in Putin’s pocket.

Today, the president of Switzerland formally welcomed Putin and Biden to Geneva, “the city of peace,” and then left the men to do their coordinated handshake for the cameras. Putin turned and looked at the media scrum while Biden kept his eyes on the man he called a “killer” a few months ago. Then again, Biden did smile and mouth “you wanna go inside?” Beat him up, Joe!!

Apparently they did a handshake indoors before they went out for the cameras too. Joe Biden’s not a big guy either, but look at the way he’s towering over Putin! Damn, Putin is short-ass. Anyway, it’s nice to see an American president looking and acting like he has America’s interests at heart. The last guy was Putin’s puppet and acted like a sycophantic dipsh-t whenever he got in the same room with Putin.

The Swiss are also famous for stepping hard on SVR and its previous iterations going back to the old NKVD—the Swiss don’t tolerate hijinks of an assassinatory nature or otherwise on their soil. Big Joe and his crew will get out alive.

  2. MsIam says:

Don’t accept any packages from this, Joe! He really is a killer.

  3. Midge says:

I can’t get enough of that photo of Obama looking down on Putin and giving him a death stare

    • STRIPE says:

Yes! Quite a difference between that photo and ones with Trump where Putin looked like the cat who are the canary.

    • observer says:

i’m too lazy to search for this, got a link?

  4. samipup says:

@ Kaiser, THANK-YOU! Your skill with the photos is supreme!

  5. SaySo says:

    Putin looks so small lol.

    • Aoife says:

I don’t think height has anything to do with ability to lead, and it’s not Putin’s height that’s the issue. He may be taller but Biden is hardly physically intimidating.

  6. Swack says:

    Putin has short man’s syndrome.

    • iconoclast59 says:

No kidding. I think mentally he’s still that short, scrawny kid who kept getting beat up on the streets of Leningrad (now St. Petersburg). He’s spent his whole adult life trying to get back at the world for picking on him.

  7. Jc says:

“Career man” coming from the tyrant who changes the rules so he can stay in power. That is rich.

    • Teebee says:

He would have done well to keep Trump’s name out of his mouth. To defend, even praise Trump in any way, as a world leader, when the exact opposite is true (and I do not doubt that Putin thinks Trump an absolute idiotic moronic buffoon that he easily manipulated) makes him look foolish. This is an utter gaffe. He reveals his preference for a weak minded, inexperienced president, and also gives more oxygen to the idea he needs Trump back. The US needs to be even more vigilant against the Republicans. Russia clearly has shown they have an agenda with US politics. How stupid that the US right wingers are now Russian puppets…

      • Drea says:

Unfortunately, the American electorate, specifically the segment that voted for Trump, is unlikely to understand something this nuanced. They see manly man shirtless on a horse, and grunt.

      • observer says:

Drea’s on the money. If anything this was said FOR the purpose of embiggening/appealing straight to the MAGA demographic

  8. MerlinsMom1018 says:

Putin looks like he wishes the trumpster was still there to push around. POTUS is all…”yeah you think Vlad old son…nah”
    I didn’t know Putin is so short…

  9. LarkspurLM says:

    JOE! Wash your hands!!

  10. Mcmmom says:

Condoleezza Rice talks about how she towered over Putin – and implied that she used that to her advantage when meeting with him and Bush.

Putin is scary. I cannot believe we ever had a US President who admitted to believing him over our own intelligence information. How that didn’t terrify the so-called “patriots” in Washington, I’ll never understand. I’m old, so I remember the Cold War well. Never underestimate the Russians.

    • iconoclast59 says:

Remember, Trump owes a lot of money to the Russians; it completely compromised him as POTUS, though I won’t discount Trump’s innate awfulness as a person, as he clearly idolizes dictators and tyrants.

The more critical question is: How many sitting members of Congress are similarly compromised? Heads of media corporations? I fear the rot is far more widespread.

    • MerlinsMom1018 says:

Trump has said he still believes Putin over Biden

      • Jayna says:

Trump is a traitor. But worse than that is that 75 million Americans voted to re-elect him..

  11. J ferber says:

Let’s be blunt: Putin was Trump’s idol and Trump was Putin’s bitch. That’s all you need to know.

  12. The Artist Formerly Known as Valiantly Varnished says:

Biden is 6 feet and Putin is listed as 5’7” thought I believe he’s shorter than that in real life.

    • iconoclast59 says:

I think Putin’s about 5’5″. Like Trump, there are photographs of him where he clearly appears to be wearing shoes with lifts.

  13. Tiffany :) says:

Dang!!! ABC News correspondent Rachel Scott asked Putin, “The list of your political opponents who are dead, imprisoned or jailed is long…and you now have prevented anyone who supports Navalny to run for office. So my question is, what are you so afraid of?”

And he didn’t answer the question, so SHE CAME BACK AT HIM and asked Putin:

“You didn’t answer my question, sir. If all of your political opponents are dead, in prison, poisoned, doesn’t that send a message that you do not want a fair political fight?”

    I am so impressed!!!!!!!

  14. Mrs. Rick Savage says:

How much money does Donnie owe Putin🤭

  15. Miasys says:

I don’t remember who called this yesterday on one of the royals posts, but Biden totally gave Putin a pair of aviators!
