Chris Brown gets his first concert gig as a convicted felon

Convicted felon Chris Brown is quietly dipping his toe in the water to see if it’s warmed up at all. Unfortunately for him while it’s not quite frigid, it’s still less than tepid. Chris is headlining his first concert as a convicted felon – quite the accomplishment! Before you get too upset that he’s famous and successful, let me just note that his career has taken a significant hit. Not as much as I’d like, but some. Chris is going to be singing at Power 105’s Powerhouse ’09 concert in late October. He’ll be joined by a bunch of C list acts, with one or two decent performers. But it’s a long way from where he was this time last year, when everyone thought he’d be the next king of pop.

Chris Brown’s first concert deal since he assaulted ex-girlfriend Rihanna back in February is on the books. On Oct. 27, Brown will headline Power 105.1’s Powerhouse ’09 concert. Keri Hilson, The-Dream, Trey Songz, Mario, Day26 and Ginuwine will also perform.

Concert promoters and music producers say the caliber of this lineup isn’t up to what Brown would have shared a bill with before the assault.

“This is a pretty C-list lineup,” said one promoter who’s not involved in the show at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, NJ. “Keri Hilson is good, Ginuwine has some following, but this is nothing like the lineup that would have surrounded him this time last year. Chris was the Michael Jackson heir apparent, he had huge endorsement deals. This isn’t the sort of show you would have expected from him before he got in trouble.”

Brown still isn’t considered a “safe” booking, according to some music insiders, but for this concert, Brown was worth the risk.

“Chris isn’t advertiser-safe yet — his image has a long way to go,” said a producer. “But for this show, he’ll draw a crowd, so the producers of the show are willing to pay. Just because he pled guilty doesn’t mean that all his fans have gone away. And he’s got to start getting back onto the scene at some point, it might as well be here.”

[From MSNBC]

Isn’t it sad when bad things happen to bad people? Heartbreaking I tell you. Who I actually feel badly for are the other performers. Although MSNBC referred to them as “C list,” some of them are more “up-and-coming” than anything. They’re not at the point where they can be picky about who they’re sharing a lineup with though. I listen to that radio station all the time (well, used to) and I haven’t heard them play any Chris Brown songs since he beat the shi*t out of Rihanna. It seems like they knew it was bad to associate with him, but now that the fury has died down they figure they can ultimately make some money off him again. The little bit of justice in all this is that while Chris Brown’s career is in the tank, Rihanna’s more famous and successful than ever. Hopefully both of them will stay that way.

    Awww…. POOR CHRIS!! – Not!

  2. hatsumomo says:

Ok srsly, can you just ban CB already? No one likes him and it makes everyone bitchy. If given a trade-for lets just bring back Spiedi for him.

  3. Tia C says:

Hatsumomo, that’s funny – “No one likes him and it makes everyone bitchy.”

    Truer words were never spoken!

  4. Firestarter says:

I agree with Hatsumomo- I would rather read about Speidi than this foolio!

  5. Annie says:

    Oh nooooo.

    Please don’t bring back Speidi.

    Please????

  6. Beth says:

The thing that gets me about Chris is he feels no remorse and doesn’t think he did anything wrong. In the community service pictures it seems like he was having fun and even mocking punishment.

  7. Lizzard says:

I totally agee with Beth. Chris doesn’t seem to genuinely feel ANY remorse for his actions whatsoever. He was in a bar celebrating the night he went to court for his last night to hear what his sentence is. (Which might I add has been pointed out to be in VIOLATION OF HIS PAROLE! Within the first few hours this man was breaking parole!)

I think the thing that kills me about these pictures is having people known to have anger management issues and domestic violence do manual labor. I’m glad about the manual labor part, don’t get me wrong, but he’s using a shovel and is only getting stronger and building more muscle doing so. Great, so next time he pummels and tries to beat someone to a bloody pulp he’ll be bigger and stronger; excellent! (I’m being sarcastic of course)

This kid’s a total maggot and he’s so busy being a douche-bag poser and fronting that there’s no room, or way, for introspection.
Look at his “trying-too-hard” blue sweater and bowtie on Larry King -the kid thinks that he (and his enablers) are “in control”. He, and they, think they’re “smarter” and that they’ve got the system and public beat, even despite this psuedo punishment

  9. lacy says:

@Beth and Lizzard how do you know he feels no remorse? looking at a picture told you that? Some people try to keep up a happy expression in the public eye when they are really not.
I don’t think shoveling dirt is glamorous at all. I think this is more more punishment than maggot Lindsey Lohan and a few other celebs have gotten in up to this day.
All Lindsey Lohan got was a country club vacation for her punishment. I remember the bike riding pictures. The partying, the rumoured hook-ups. If we go by pictures then Lohan sure didn’t get punished at all for her crimes. At least Brown did not end up in a rehab clinic bike riding.
Lindsey could have killed someone while she was high, now look at her.
Lindsey still don’t look remorseful at all for what she did in the past. Lindsey still continues the same destructive pattern. Still continue to work and party in Hollywood. Still no out cry from the media….
Wonder why. The media continues to pretend it don’t see Lohan unstable behavior. I wonder what major tragedy will happen next while out on another one of her drug and alcohol binges.
I feel Lohan is going to erupt before Brown will but we will see…..
I agree that there should not be any more stories about Brown.

    3. Okay so I heard Chris Brown’s new single and I actually liked it. He still is going strong
with headlining a new concert and album. I’m surprised he finished da album so soon. But anyways da single sounds hot to me especially since Lil Wayne is on it. I got 2 hear it at http://www.iheartradio.com/cc-common/ondemand/music.html?apid=5979&cmp=candace_chrisbrowntrans

I FEEL THAT EVERYONE DESERVES A SECOND CHANCE. AT THE END OF THE DAY WE DO NOT REALLY KNOW THE INSIDE HISTORY OF RIHANNA AND CHRIS’S RELATIONSHIP. I DO NOT APPROVE OF VIOLENCE TOWARDS MALE OR FEMALES, BUT WE DON’T KNOW IF SHE HASN’T SLAPPED THE MESS OUT OF HIM BEFORE. I JUST FEEL THAT THE TWO DID NOT KNOW HOW TO PROPERLY CONDUCT THEMSELVES IN A SERIOUS RELATIONSHIP. THEREFORE, THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO HANDLE SITUATIONS AS ADULTS.

LET’S MOVE ON AND ALLOW THIS MAN TO BEGIN RESHAPING HIS LIFE. IF HE CAME BACK WITH AN ALBUM ABOUT REMORSE AND PLEASE FORGIVE ME LIKE R.KELLY AND AKON THEN I WOULD FEEL THAT IT WAS JUST FOR SYMPATHY. I MEAN IF WE CAN FORGIVE R.KELLY THAN WE CAN FORGIVE CHRIS. HE ADMITTED HIS MISTAKE AND ACCEPTED HIS PUNISHMENT. WHERE AS R.KELLY WAS CAUGHT OF CAMERA PISSING ON A LITTLE GIRL AND WE ALL LOVE HIS NEW SINGLE NUMBER 1, SO LETS GET OVER IT.

Chris Brown is a very Talented young man. He is not a young man to be considered a criminal. I see the thing is Chris did not tell what happened. We don’t know what really happened and Rihanna did not say what happened. She did after the fact and it then seemed suspect. I believe they both were at fault. They had careers and if Rihanna had said her part her managers would lose money. I am saddened Chris was tried by the media by a enhanced digital photo of Rihanna and it went out to the public. The media was judge and jury. Because Rihanna had been slapping Chris for sometime and this went undetected. I feel for both. I see Rihanna still could have gone back to Chris and would have because they loved each other. But they were not able to handle a high profile relationship. The respect between two people is critical. And comments like I seen on blogs just won’t let it rest. We need to see if they ever got back together with each other. They would be judge again. What would you say? They can’t go on with their lives, because people won’t let them be. Please Stop hating, hating on them both. Let them alone.

  14. Rose says:

Chris is so cute just digging dirt. So Haters, give him a chance to make a honest living.

  15. Miss Keri Baby finally dropped a great song after the boring Breaking Point. Pretty Girl Rock is my song right now and I hope that Keri gets a successful album era this round!
