Jessica Alba gets tattoo on the back of her neck removed

Jessica Alba showing her bra and signs of a removed tattoo in LA

Jessica Alba appears to be in the process of a lot of changes. Three years ago she got a tattoo on the back of her neck with her mother and aunt, supposedly as a bonding experience. And now she’s having it removed. And she’s changed her recently dyed blonde hair to red – causing the Daily Mail to theorize that she’s transitioning back to her natural brunette shade. Though if that’s the case I’m not sure why she’s go to red instead of just dying it back to brown. The neck tattoo wasn’t anything strange – it was a ladybird and a daisy. They did look a little dull to me, but there was nothing odd about it. And Jessica still has two other tattoos.

Jessica Alba had the back of her neck tattooed as a ‘bonding experience’ with her mother and aunt two years ago but it appears she has already tired of the etching. The noticeably faded daisy and ladybird suggests the 28-year-old star is undergoing laser surgery to get rid of the tacky design. The cover-up was spotted as the Fantastic Four actress debuted her new red hairstyle while joining a female friend for a manicure session in Beverly Hills yesterday.

Wearing a baggy grey vest and denim shorts, Jessica looked relaxed as she enjoyed her pampering session in a nail bar not far from her mansion, where she lives with husband Cash Warren and their 15-month-old daughter Honor Marie. The faded nature of the small tattoo on her neck suggests she is in the process of getting her tattoo removed with laser surgery. Laser surgery takes between three to 15 treatments, which take place at least six weeks apart, to remove all trace of the tattoos.

Jessica’s removal of the daisy and ladybird means she will have two remaining tattoos – the Sanskrit word ‘Padma’ on her wrist and a bow on her lower back. The mother-of-one’s dramatic new red hairstyle comes only weeks after she debuted a blonde style. It is thought her red locks are paving the way for a transition back to her natural brunette colour.

[From the Daily Mail]

Jess’ hair definitely looks a lot better. I thought she looked really drab as a blonde. Her natural coloring is so beautiful, but the red is still a nice improvement. Although that lipstick sure isn’t doing much for her.

My first thought was maybe the neck tattoo posed a problem for her in terms of work. Covering up a tattoo really well can be a major pain in the butt, though there are a lot of new concealers that are great. But maybe it was simply something she didn’t want to deal with anymore. The lower back tattoo is hidden most of the time, and the wrist one probably isn’t that hard to deal with either. Still, I find it strange, since the tattoo has a sweet story behind it. Which leads me to wonder if perhaps she didn’t want to be reminded of it for some reason.

Im really digging the red. I may try it myself

  2. hatsumomo says:

She still looks like a twat…too bad.

  3. Ash says:

I wish the red dye job didn’t look like it was already fading away. It looks spotty. I’m sure it looks better fixed up.

  4. Jenny says:

She’s dying it red to go to her original brunette color because you have the fill the hair before you go darker because she was so blonde. If she we to just dye it brown over the blonde her hair would look muddy and fade super fast. You can fill the hair and then color after words but that can be extremely damaging.

getting a tat on the back of your neck, especially that high up, is like getting one on the bottom of your foot. except with the foot, you could see it every now and then…..

I actually LIKE to look at mine….. never understood putting in places you can’t see yourself.

I don’t really like any of Jessica’s tats, they seem a little too girly and contrived. I think it’s not bad she’s getting rid of some of that ink.

@Ash: I have had red hair several times in my life (and loved it) but the trouble with red always is that, among all the hair colours you can get (except for turquoise I think), it’s the quickest colour to fade and turn spotty. My redness would be lovely for 3 weeks and then suddenly become weird and I had to get it recoloured. Maybe something similar is happening to Jessica.

Your linked story is wrong – she’s had that tattoo since at least May of 2005. I think the sanskrit one on her wrist is the one she got with her family. (see here: http://gallery.jessicaalba.net/displayimage.php?album=108&pos=10 it’s visible.)

Also, she started the laser treatments a year ago on that tat, looks like this is just the first time the agency taking the pics noticed.

  8. Ana says:

If it is one that she got with mother and aunt I think it’s kind of rude to get it removed. But maybe they didn’t care.
My sister and I have matching tattoos on our left wrist. I love it, my husband hates it. It’s bright green although they told me it would fade it’s still pretty bright.

I hate blonde hair on her. Her skin color needs a warmer color. The red does look pretty decent.

Was it the one that says,”Where’s my dignity?” or the other one that says,”If you can read this, you better be married to me.”

Just ain’t what she used to be on Dark Angel

Now shes just a regular celebrity bitch

  12. Vermithrax says:

Too much Alba hate. I don’t understand any of it – I write it off in the context of purely jealous condescension.

She’s too cute. What else could it be?

  13. Jag says:

I don’t like her because she has said things in interviews that made her come across as arrogant, bitchy, and an unpleasant person to be around. Yes, she’s pretty. I used to think she was absolutely gorgeous, but the more she speaks, the less attractive she is to me.

  14. Ameia says:

Fug as a blonde. Why do so many women who look great within their natural hair color range yearn for that elusive edge and make the mistake of publicly going blonde? Try a wig at home first. Julia Roberts took a long time to realize she looked awful, Nelly Furtado may still be deluding herself, haven’t checked lately.

When rampant vanity backfires, the rest of us get a chuckle.

  15. TinaWithPom says:

Ameia – Please add Victoria Gotti to the list of natural-born brunettes who should be banned from using peroxide.

  16. Norcal bitch5 says:

Really? Damn…so many celebrities got their ink before being famous and now lazoring it off…good luck sell outs. As for J. Alba…bitch why? That kept from you from gettin jobs…I think not…whatever…i hate hollywood bullshit…we take all your money away you SUCCK! I hope bad bad luck to all the hollywood stars cuz ya’ll think you’re so beyond heartache. I hope it on you all.

most tattoos should be removed there ridiculous at best and most are deforming ie
    tramp stamps and especially sleeves,
    time to retire the parlors.
do not forget the chance of hiv and hepatitis that comes with them
