Taraji P. Henson in Moschino at the Met Gala: ill fitting or OK?

The Moschino looks last night were a real mess. Moschino did some fun looks for the 2019 Met Gala, the “camp” theme, which played to Jeremy Scott’s strengths. This year seemed to have no cohesion and we were left with poor Taraji P. Henson in this ill-fitting jumpsuit that looks like she’s being enveloped by tendrils. She seems to know this as she’s posing from the side in several of the Instagram photos. Taraji’s look was an homage to Diana Ross and her styling is great. Oh no look at the back. She is making due with this outfit, you can tell.

Lourdes Leon was also in Moschino. This looks budget and one note, I think it’s the cut and color of the dress. I’ll just say the same for Irina Shayk’s nude and floral applique dress, below. I do like Irina’s short hair, which I first thought was a wig. She has short hair in recent candids so it might be her real haircut. It’s so cute on her!

Here are other celebrities in Moschino including Karen Elson, J Balvin, Symone and Cynthia Erivo. Yikes.

Wow. And not in a good way.

  2. Tom says:

When you make my goddess Taraji P. Henson look like that … The lack of design talent and craftsmanship displayed in these gowns does Moschino’s reputation no favors.

    • Mac says:

What is happening at Moschino? The group photo is a nightmare.

    • Anony83 says:

Yeah, all these looks are kind of terrible (though I don’t mind Cynthia Ervio’s) but the *fitting* on Taraji’s dress is so bad it almost feels disrespectful. Like they just couldn’t be bothered to do the work necessary to make it fit her figure and instead just left it too big so she could get into and out of it but did nothing else to alter it to specifically fit her.

This is such an unusual miss for Taraji and the fact that it looks rushed makes me wonder if this was a backup dress picked at the last minute? Maybe something happened with her first option? I’m going to pretend that’s what happened because the alternative is that this WAS her first choice.

Hers looks like it’s falling down.

  3. Lili says:

my first thought was she went in Ghetto Fabulous , as i saw more of it i was umm Meh !

  4. jferber says:

Lourdes is gorgeous. The only great look is Cynthia Erivo’s. She is such a unique beauty and she is ravishing in the outfit.

  5. Truthiness says:

Irina’s dress looks like a designer was stuck in the bathroom and he hallucinated that the shower curtain and bath mat got together.

    • Anony83 says:

Or like an Unusual Materials challenge on Project Runway.

Actually, there are always several looks at the Met Ball that could have been from an Unusual Materials episode; some have worked better than others.

  6. FHMom says:

Is Lourdes supposed to. be Cher? Because she totally looks like Cher.

  7. Athena says:

What no consent on Jeremy Scott’s outfit?. I thought he looked great.

  8. Chaine says:

I don’t care for Lourdes’ look but I think it’s the hair and makeup that’s wrong, not the dress? I think the dress is cute. The severe hairstyle and heavy makeup really age her, I’m talking Real Housewives of New Jersey.

  9. Sof says:

I was surprised no one wore that Moschino collection that was all about, McDonald’s, Sponge Bob, etc. It was a fun collection and it would have been on theme.

  10. Debbie says:

If Taraji is supposed to be Diana Ross, Diana Ross should sue. That is on sad look.

  11. Bella says:

I really don’t like any of them except I kind of like Karen Elson’s. All the rest are a no for me.

  12. Mrs.Krabapple says:

That girl in pink bikini/sarong looks like she doesn’t belong at a Met gala — her dress is bad, her styling is bad, her makeup is bad, she needs two people to help her walk down a flight of stairs wearing heels, and she is posing very awkwardly in the group photo. My first thought was “must be another celebrity spawn” — so I looked her up, and YEP. Are there no actual new celebrities (on their own merit) to fill in the next generation, or will we only get these celebrity offspring?

  13. Penguin says:

the outfit is bad enough, but whoever did Taraji’s makeup genuinely hates her. She looks 10 years older and as if she is hungover or spent the night crying.
