How cute is Lourdes Leon? She’s getting tall too - she’ll probably end up close to her dad’s height. She’s got Carlos’s coloring, but that face is all Madonna. The paparazzi snapped a bunch of pictures of Lourdes out with her dad and his girlfriend out and about on the Upper East Side on Saturday. At one point, Lola sticks her tongue out playfully at the paps and you can see Carlos laughing. Aw, they seem really close, don’t they? He seems like a good dad too - I’m Team Carlos all the way. I love that man.
Lourdes seems to be inspired by 1980s, doesn’t she? That’s my only explanation for this cute, weird outfit. The haircut is killer, though. She’s the right age and she’s got the right kind of face to pull off the bangs and the fringe. Madonna sat down with Popeater recently to talk about her greatest hits album and she ended up fielding a bunch of questions about Lourdes. They start out by talking about Lola’s little guest appearance in Madge’s “Celebration” video:
Popeater: The “Celebration” video features your daughter, Lourdes. How did that happen?
Madonna: She hangs out with the dancers a lot. She’s a dancer, herself. The video is about the celebration of music and dance. There’s an improvisational moment when we’re all in a circle and each dancer does their specialty or a special move that they do well. She wanted to do hers, so she did.P: Were you comfortable with her doing the video?
M: Yeah. She really wanted to do it. It’s just a little moment.P: Are you getting an inkling that she wants to follow in your footsteps?
M: No. I don’t think she wants to be a singer. I think she wants to be an actress.P: How do you feel about that?
M: I’m fine with it, as long as she finishes school, and takes it seriously. She also plays piano, and she’s really into clothes and fashion and style. She can go in any direction. She’s got a lot of diverse interests right now. We’ll see. I’m not pushing anything. We’ll see what she wants to do.P: She always seems so poised.
M: Yeah. She’s grown up in the limelight, for sure. She’s been protected, but she’s been chased by the paparazzi since she was a tiny baby.P: How is she dealing with being the big sister? Is she protective?
M: She’s super-sister. She’s amazing with the little ones. She has the typical relationship with her brother, Rocco. They’re like “I love you”/”I hate you” every five minutes. But with the two little ones, she’s great. She’s amazing. Very protective.

Well, I hope Lourdes fulfills her dream of becoming an actress - she’s got to be better than her mother, in any case. I could totally see it too! Imagine this: “Oscar-nominated actress Lourdes Leon” or “Starring Lourdes Leon”. If Lola really wants to be an actress, hopefully she’ll study it formally, maybe go to Julliard or enroll in a real acting program.

…Or will we tear her down in the future with accusations of nepotism, an advantaged and privileged life, egotism, no real talent… etc etc…with the same vitriol that we extend to her mother?
I always have mixed feeling when I read about celebs’ kids in the gossip columns…

Wow, that haircut is killer! I can’t help but like little Lourdes, let’s hope she keeps her head on straight and doesn’t go the way of Lindsay Lohan….that would be awful. I think she’ll be ok, her Mom was always pretty driven and not really into the hard partying.

I did want to also remark how glowing Madonna sounds when talking about her…she sounds like she’s Lourdes’ biggest fan. I don’t see how people get that she’s insecure over her daughter’s youth…she’s surrounded by young, beautiful women all the time by the nature of her business…

Not to split hairs, but FYI - The pictures show they are strolling by O’Neals which is around Lincoln Center, on the upper WEST side of Manhattan.
I live on the upper west, and I’ve actually seen Carlos Leon riding his bike around, when I pointed him out to my boyfriend, he was like “who?” and then I was a little embarrassed to say “Madonna’s ex-uhmmm-lover”

I cant believe how grounded Lourdes is. I just hope she doesnt turn out to be like Lindsay Lohan or Miley Cyrus.

I hope Carlos’s girlfriend is a working runway model. There is no excuse for being that skeletal otherwise.
Lourdes is stunning. I always thought that Madonna looked her best with her natural hair and brow color, and it’s nice to see a sort-of reincarnation of it in Lourdes. I hope she can recognize and stay with her natural beauty!

@ e - many of us realise that bangs are also called fringe in the UK but the article was not being redundant. Fringe in the US usually means the hair that frames the face. The bangs go across the forehead and the fringe would be the jagged cut pieces framing the sides of her face.

I love her hair. She had that awkward stage for a couple of years, specifically the eyebrows. But she’s becoming really pretty. She and Carlos have always been close. I think a lot of people thought he was just a sperm donor and Madonna would just pay him off. It’s good that they have a close relationship.

Isn’t she going to that acting school Jessica Sarah Parker and Maculay Culkin (sp?) attended aswell? In New York? I thought I read that somewhere. Anyway she will be trained.
