Halle Berry on Van Hunt: ‘It was finally my time & the right one showed up’

Halle Berry has been quite public with her romance with musician Van Hunt since last September. They have done several interviews, including this sickly sweet one for Entertainment Tonight in March where Van stated that Halle is helping him be a better person. Halle and Van share a lot of loved up photos and Van often refers to Halle as his muse. Halle and Van attended the Elle Women in Hollywood Celebration this week. In an exclusive interview with ET Online, Halle, who has been married three times, said that the right man has finally shown up. Some highlights:

“I mean because it’s my time. It was finally my time and the right one finally showed up,” Berry, 55, expressed.

The two looked sensational posing together, with the actress wearing a floral Dundas x Revolve gown, while Hunt rocked a deep purple suit.

Berry revealed she was dating Hunt in September of last year, and hasn’t been shy about showing off their love. ET spoke with Hunt in March, where he opened up about how he definitely considers Berry his muse.

Berry has previously been married three times. She and Olivier Martinez were husband and wife from 2013 to 2016. The two share 8-year-old son Maceo. She was also married to Eric Benét from 2001 to 2005 and David Justice from 1993 to 1997. Berry and ex Gabriel Aubry also share 13-year-old daughter Nahla.

[From ET Online]

So ya’ll know I try my very best not to judge a situation because I am not there to see how these people interact behind the scenes. But as I said before, this relationship is starting to feel like every other relationship Halle has been in. Halle seems to have a pattern. Halle tends to choose men not as famous as she is. The beginning of the relationship is a love fest. Three to four years later, the relationship crashes and burns in a dramatic way and the only side we hear comes from Halle’s camp.

I want to be optimistic about this new found love Halle has found. I really want it to work out for her and Van, but my spidey senses are definitely tingling. Then again, it ain’t none of my business (sips tea). I wish Halle the best. In the mean time, I will continue to follow this relationship because I love love and always want these sort of relationships to work. Also I must admit that Van and Halle look really good together.

    I mean… the photos with the *guitar*… GodBless 😀

    • Fuzzy Crocodile says:

      Oh my thoughts exactly.

    • Lexilla says:

Those photos are usually selfies, so I’m always picturing the person looking so serene and natural… with their arm straining and their head angled just so, taking photo after photo for just the right one.

      • PeacefulParsley says:

Same thoughts here. Though I also wonder if some of them aren’t taken by a long-suffering assistant.

      • goofpuff says:

@peacefulparsley oh they are totally taken by a personal assistant, and also professionally edited and cleaned up before being put on social media by their social media consultant.

  2. TQ says:

They are a gorgeous couple for sure!

But am with you @Oya. I 100% share this sentiment: “I hope she has done the work that would allow this relationship to be healthy for both parties involved.” Doing the work is hard, and includes admitting our own roles in choosing and staying with partners who aren’t worthy and don’t want to love us how we deserve to be loved. Not demanding the respect that we deserve from our partners. I hope Halle has done the work because we all deserve good & healthy relationships. Wish her the best and will stay tuned.

  3. JustBitchy says:

She’s a love slob or put more nicely a hopeless romantic

  4. Nikki says:

It’s okay for celebrities to NOT talk about their relationships. Halle pretty much says the same thing about each significant other. . . until she doesn’t.

  5. Mimi says:

I hope he knows her pattern and takes steps to protect himself. She gets vicious and slanderous once the rose-colored glasses come off.

    • Piratewench says:

I agree. I think she has a personality disorder. I was raised by someone with one and you start to see the patterns and flags of it. He probably thinks it can’t happen to him. But it has nothing to do with him really… it’s her.

    • LillyfromLillooet says:

      @Mimi & piratewench
I cannot unsee the beaten-up face of Gabriel Aubry and think about how treacherous and destructive she was to him, always trying to undercut him with child support payments, taking away his house, and trying to make him out to be a racist.

For what it’s worth, I don’t think she’s *learned* a damn thing. I don’t think it’s that kind of situation.

      • Kristin says:

And worse, continually pushing for sole custody and trying to move halfway across the world to France with their daughter. I like Halle, but she always comes across as the asshole when her relationships disintegrate. And she always slanders the crap out of the guy.

  6. SH says:

I recently saw that Halle Berry is a few years older than JLO, which made me realize how much JLO self drives the PR around her not-aging, which has to eventually start feeling like a trap.

    • terra says:

Exactly. Eventually no amount of makeup, creative posing, or Photoshop is going to be able to hide the truth that EVERYBODY ages, J Lo included. She’s aging now and has been for a while: she’s just aging *well* . . . or whatever that means.

The more she pushes the J Lo isn’t aging angle the more she’s forced to do anything and everything within her power to try maintain the fiction.

You know, like trying to sell the *entirely believable* idea that her toddler-esque complexion is thanks entirely to olive oil, the same oil that can be yours for the low, low price of $80. What a steal, amiright?

  7. Gigi LaMoore says:

Maybe it IS her time. Maybe it took her to 55 to get it right. After her divorce from Olivier, I don’t recall seeing her with a lot of men so maybe she has worked out her issues. I wish them my best as most of us want to find love and if she has, good for her.

  8. Jayna says:

Dating men less famous than her and less successful is the norm because in Hollywood, the LA area, it doesn’t matter how beautiful and how successful you are, men your age are dating much, much, much younger women. I mean, she is dating age-appropriate men, all men in their 40s or 50s, it seems like.

    • Gigi LaMoore says:

Very true. Very few Hollywood women are dating men who are considered their equal when it comes to fame and money. The men aren’t either, but somehow that’s more acceptable.

  9. pollyv says:

Hasn’t each man in the past been the absolute best/right one for her. She’d be wise to just not talk about it.

    • Gigi LaMoore says:

Well, a person can be right for you on a particular leg of your life’s journey. It doesn’t have to be a forever thing. It would be nice to see if this one ends, if it can end without the toxicity that accompanies her breakups. If so, that means she is on the right track.

    • lucy2 says:

That was my first thought too, but maybe he’s the right one for her now. Who knows.

  10. pyritedigger says:

I’m much younger than Halle, but I can’t imagine doing this head over heels thing anymore after my last three relationships (including the 10 year partnership). At some age and enough (bad) experiences, the full blown romance thing just becomes ridiculous. And I’m “open” to something new–not bitter or sad. I just don’t think she will ever learn. Dopamine is a helluva drug.

  11. Tiffany says:

I too hope this works out for Halle. I really want this aspect of her life to have some peace.

I like her and want success for her.

  12. littlemissnaughty says:

I cannot believe she is 55, damn. I’m nearly 20 yrs younger and on my BEST day I could never!

Just don’t get married, Halle. It’s simply unnecessary.

  13. Snappyfish says:

She is really beautiful but I think she is a bit loony. She said the exact same thing about Benet, Martinez & even Aubry. In the beginning of each relationship. Even when she was with David Justice & that pairing was bonkers. I wish her well. It will be hard for her to call this partner racist when/if it ends

    • Sondra Jackson says:

WOW! Aubry did say some racist shit, so there’s that. I’ve never gotten the Looney vibe from her. The only difference between Halle and most women is that she is a celebrity so her personal life is public. I really doubt if you, I or most women could stand up to the type of scrutiny and judgement that I am seeing on this thread about her. Whenever any woman begins dating a man, he is the best thing at that time. Unfortunately many relationships do not last then the cycle repeats, I sincerely doubt if there are many women who are criticizing her end up with their first an only. Things change and people grow apart, we just don’t have to see our lives play out on the net

    • Mel says:

So if you’ve had a few bad relationships and you’re a woman, you’re loony. Wow. She wasn’t in those relationships alone and frankly, the problem might have been more of insecure men who can’t deal with their wife/ SO being the “top dog” in the relationship.

  14. CoffeChamp says:

I keep wondering why Halle gets the blame for past relationships ending badly. David Justice was a cheater, Eric Benet was a chronic cheater, Aubrey has/had racism issues and finally, Oliver the fighter… Yeah, she does the most during the “honeymoon” period but so what. Bennifer2.0 and KourtneyK is awesome tho? I wish them all happiness and I wish Halle would get the same appreciation.

    • Sondra Jackson says:

@CoffChamp, Thank you!. I just posted a reply similar to yours. Most women go through multiple relationships and in the beginning everything is always just fabulous. The difference is that most women do not have to see their personal lives dissected in the media by strangers. I’ve only read nice things about her personality so I do not get the “Looney” Vibe that I’ve seen attached to her. I wish her well. Also I agree I never see these types of “Conversations” about Jennifer Lopez etc.

    • Mel says:

Thank you! Everyone is cheering on JLo and Affleck in their toxic mess, so why is Halle responsible for all of her relationships?

    • Jules says:

But what about the hit and run incident? What about all the things she said about David Justice? And abandoning her stepdaughter with Benet? Getting Olivier to beat up Aubry? Why did she openly conceive a child with a racist? (if he was in fact openly racist?)

I’ve heard her talk about witnessing her mom and sister getting abused but not her. I wonder if her father treating her differently and being in that environment came together and contributed to a Narcissistic Personality Disorder?

      • OriginalLeigh says:

@Jules – It sounds like you are blaming Halle for all of things that the men in her life did. Why is she responsible for David’s bad behavior, Olivier’s violence, Aubrey’s racism and even her father’s abuse of her mother and sister?!! Why are the men not to blame for their own actions?

  15. Margo says:

Oh, Halle…sigh. Wishing you all the best.

  16. theotherViv says:

is it me or does he look defeated?

  17. Robert says:

Why can’t people in hollywood just date. Why does it have to be “the one”. And why after the third date do they have to move in together. Aren’t these people all supposed to be busy makeing a movie. Trying to get their next movie. Or promoting the one coming out. That shouldn’t leave much time for the lovey dovey ouhy gooy crap they keep putting on their instagrams. Just date enjoy going out and getting to know people. They all have lots of money, they don’t need someone to take care of them. You can date someone for years before you really get to know them. Take your time.
