Prince William fundamentally believes Prince Andrew’s ‘heart is in the right place’

About 24 hours after Prince Andrew lost his HRH-style and his patronages, he hosted a shooting party at Royal Lodge, on the Windsor estate. Again, just a reminder: the Queen did not actually take away that much from Andrew. Yes, he’s sad to lose his HRH, but he hadn’t done anything with his patronages in over two years. He was only the patron of record during that time, and most of his patronages wanted to dump him a while ago. He still has his lease on Royal Lodge. He’ll still be invited to Balmoral. Mummy is still paying his bills and okaying shooting parties on the Windsor estate. Anyway, the Daily Beast had a rundown of some of the other Andrew stories happening over the weekend, so let’s do highlights:

The shooting party: The Sun on Sunday reports that he hosted a shooting party at Windsor on Friday, but didn’t take part. He and Sarah Ferguson joined the shooting group for lunch. A source said: “It seems quite brazen of Andrew to host a party and let his family go shooting with all the controversy raging.” The shoot, it was reported, may have been a Christmas present from the queen to Andrew’s daughter Eugenie.

Sanguine Andrew: A source told the Sunday Times of the queen cutting him loose: “He is quite sanguine about it. He was mindful of the intense pressures building on the institution and recognized it was the right thing to do.”

Tumultuous Andrew: However, sources close to Andrew speaking to the Sun claim he is “feeling like his insides have been ripped out.” A friend says: “He is in turmoil. Up until now, on advice of his lawyers, he didn’t think it would go this far. But he has now finally realized how bad the situation is and feels he has let the Queen down. He desperately wants to make amends, although he accepts that it will take a long time. He is relying on the love and support of his family to get through this.” Ex-wife Sarah Ferguson is “just trying to support him as she always has,” a friend tells the paper.

Tearful Andrew: A senior defense source told the Mirror that Andrew was “tearful” when the queen told him on Thursday she was stripping him of his titles and patronages. “The Prince was tearful when told the news even though he had expected it,” the source said. “He feels that he has let so many people down, not least his mother, during her Platinum Jubilee year.” Senior military figures see Andrew as “a bloody embarrassment,” the source added.

The Windsors have been talking about Andrew for a while: The Sunday Times also details the Christmas conversations featuring Prince Charles and Prince William that sealed Andrew’s fate, even though the queen took the lead on wielding the axe itself. “Conversations have been going on for a while,” a palace source told the Times. “The family were always clear that some of the duke’s advisers were too optimistic and these decisions were always going to have to happen.” It wasn’t just Charles and William sticking their two cents in. “Anne and Edward had more than a passing interest,” the source said.

The Queen buries her head in the sand: A royal source said of the queen herself: “She has had the opportunity to shut this down for the past two years—but she will do anything for a quiet life, and buries her head in the sand on family matters.” Ghislaine Maxwell’s conviction was pivotal. Andrew might have escaped his expulsion “if Maxwell had been freed or the case had fallen apart.” The infamous BBC Newsnight interview, in which Andrew dripped with arrogance and self-delusion, didn’t lead to the queen to taking action “because he still had enough clout with his mother to convince her he’d get it over the line,” a source said. “Nobody had the energy to really dispatch him.”

How Charles & William really feel: Charles was the “acting chief exec” and “the driving force” on Andrew’s demise. As for William, “there is a frustration over Andrew’s awful judgement, but fundamentally William thinks his heart is in the right place.”

[From The Daily Beast]

Re: William and his “frustration over Andrew’s awful judgement, but fundamentally William thinks his heart is in the right place…” What? Andrew was BFFs with a pair of pedophile human traffickers and Andrew stands accused of raping at least one trafficking victim. Andrew’s defense is built on shaming Virginia Giuffre for being a victim of trafficking and trying to argue that victims shouldn’t sue their abusers. But sure, Willy, Andrew’s “heart is in the right place.”

Re: “Nobody had the energy to really dispatch him” – all that means is the Queen has been digging in her heels for years and everyone knew she was wrong but she refused to listen to anyone but Andrew. Which speaks more to her own lack of morality.

  1. Rapunzel says:

Willyboy is probably too similar in temperment/behavior to Andy to actually see what Andy’s done wrong.

My guess is most of the fam see him as wrong for getting such bad PR/legal woes, and don’t really care about his actions. I doubt Wills is his only supporter.

    • Digital Unicorn says:

I have always said that William is more like Uncle Andrew than either of his parents – Chuck has his issues but Andrew has always been far worse.

    • equality says:

From Will’s point of view Andrew is okay because he hasn’t bucked the family order or been too popular or said anything about him. That’s all that matters to Will.

    • Elizabeth Regina says:

Willileaks. It’s not your uncle’s heart that’s the problem. It’s him allegedly stuffing his d*8k in underage girls is the issue.

  2. Rapunzel says:

Anyone else think this story comes from Chuck, to put Willyboy in his place after TOB took credit for Andy’s title stripping?

    • Saba says:

Yes! This is so tone-deaf my first thought was it came from Chuck to put his son in his place. I think we’ll be seeing more of this battle between father and son as they fight for the throne and approval from us peasants.

Actually, this is the only fun part of a monarchy… watching them desperately hustle and backstab to try to stay needed and relevant. Like Succession, lol.

Either that or Baldemort is wildly overestimating his currency.

    • Elizabeth Regina says:

Spot on. Chuck also leaked his invite to Harry too. Throwing his boys under the bus is very on form for him.

  3. Scout says:

….but Andy’s d*ck is in all the wrong places. And that’s what counts.

    • Andrew's Nemesis says:

Exactly what I was going to post.
Even if he had a heart – which I sincerely doubt – his nether regions were in completely out-of-bounds places, i.e. an underaged and trafficked girl.
He’s still parlaying this as ‘let Mumsy down’, rather than the lifelong hurt, misery and depression he has caused to his victims.
As for William – well, we can see in the full glare of the sun what kind of family he comes from.

      • Elizabeth Regina says:

He went on national TV to give one of the most disastrous TV interviews of all time and told his dear mama it went well. He is not the most self aware.

  4. Genevieve says:

Every time I read how incessantly these articles write “this was the queen’s decision,” I am less and less convinced. How can she bury her head in the sand and also execute decisiveness? The choice was made by Charles and The Firm, 100,% which probably would have been made sooner had the queen not been such an idiot.

Ps. Everyone here is an idiot, but the queen especially.

    • Jan90067 says:

Just look at the wording of the announcement: “The Queen has approved…. ” Not “decided” or “come to the conclusion”. PC just put it out and she probably nodded and waved him off, knowing it was either inevitable or useless to fight it (probably didn’t have the energy to deal with it).

Also, anyone else note that *nothing* screams Christmas like killing innocent birds (“The shoot, it was reported, may have been a Christmas present from the queen to Andrew’s daughter Eugenie”).

      What a family!

    • Anance says:

The Royal Family decided–long ago–that when/if Ghislaine Maxwell was convicted more cosmetic privileges would be taken from Andrew. I don’t think any determination regarding him was made in the last few days. The court’s verdict merely set in motion what had been decided earlier.

As for the Queen not paying his fees, lifestyle, etc., we know she’s paying security. The Duchy of Lancaster is probably paying everything else quietly. Actually, Andrew’s life has not materially changed.

      • Debbie says:

Maybe you’re being overly generous by suggesting that the RF or queen made the decision to remove these few privileges from Andrew. I think, since the press doesn’t really criticize the BRF, they just hope the peasants don’t connect the dots about how bad their lack of reaction looks. However, when the military community wrote that open letter, it began to look really pathetic for the RF to standby and still do nothing, they seemed even more complicit. So, I think they did this purely cosmetic change to further distance themselves from Andrew. It’s all appearances to the BRF and part of their pattern of performative concern.

  5. Chaine says:

It’s bizarre that right after this happens he goes forward with… a party to kill other living beings

  6. Becks1 says:

I don’t know who decided that was the approach for William’s sources to take in the press, but it sounds AWFUL. Yes, he raped trafficked teenagers and was BFFs with Epstein, but his heard was in the right place for all of that so its okay.

and yeah the Queen has definitely put her head in the sand for two years now with this mess, if not longer.

    • Rapunzel says:

Charles, Becks. This is Charles, methinks.

      • sid says:

The heart in the right place bit originally came from Royah Nikkah at the Times a couple of days ago in article she wrote. She is a mouthpiece for Willileaks. This is all him. He is that vile and stupid.

In fact, I had suspected that the police security leak on Harry was Willileaks’s fumbling attempt to make sure Royah’s article didn’t gain traction, because he or his people realized how bad the comment looked in hindsight.

      • notasugarhere says:

Could be William publicly-signaling to the Queen that he’s on ‘her side’ and ‘Andrew’s side’ against Charles.

      • Nic919 says:

When the comment was first used in the Times article, it was never sold as a horrible comment to make. I think William is trying to play though guy but also have an olive branch for the ones who think Andrew didn’t do anything wrong and that Virginia is just looking for money. It is disgusting of course, but William is so entrenched in right wing circles he doesn’t realize how awful he sounds.

      • notasugarhere says:

That makes sense, Nic919. William is playing to his rightwing supporters. The type of men who are also in Epstein’s book – or wish they were.

  7. Cessily says:

It isn’t his hearts placement that is on trial it is the placement of his other body parts with a trafficked minor. With this families shady ties to very disturbing and vile rapists, pedophiles and human trafficking convicted offenders I would be carful with these sympathy statements it’s unbelievable to me that anyone can defend these actions.
One thing that really bothers me is with all these predators around and best pals with the Princes (Savile & PC, Epstein & PA, then LM) were any of the children victims? Why is that never asked? No family I have ever heard of with connections to this many convicted and rumored sex offenders has no victims within.

    • equality says:

Maybe their nannies were on the ball and kept them safe. They went off to boarding school fairly young so weren’t in the house as much either. Hopefully nothing happened.

    • SourcesclosetoKate says:

In william’s narcissistic head harry did a bigger disservice than Andrew. That is the truth. I bet he thinks Andrews heart is the right place because he did that to poor girls so he was entitled to them.

      • Sue+E+Generis says:

I think the whole family thinks this way. I believe they’re honestly confused about people making a ‘big deal’ about a little rape and pedophilia because they don’t see these things as wrong.

I also suspect that we, the general public, don’t realize how insular and out of touch the monarchy is. They don’t think and believe as we do, and they’re still firmly entrenched in a system that’s over 1000 years old.

      • ChattyCath says:

Entitled. There’s the crux. Royalty think they are entitled to use the poor in any way they wish. They’re ‘beneath them’ you know. Expendable. Anonymous.

  8. Mslove says:

“Andrew’s heart is in the right place” should be the top headlines of all news organizations. I would love to hear William’s explanation as to how a rapist heart is in the right place. Who is putting out these stupid statements?

    • Mslove says:

Seriously, Will needs to be dragged for this. It’s 2022. Time to be held accountable, ffs.

    • Debbie says:

If this tawdry episode is ever dramatized in some future season of “The Crown”, I want a scene which places those words in William’s mouth so he can get incandescent all over again.

  9. Amy Bee says:

“…there is a frustration over Andrew’s awful judgement, but fundamentally William thinks his heart is in the right place”.

As I’ve been saying the Royals don’t think what Andrew did was wrong and he’s been loyal to the family. They stripped him of his titles and patronages because the case is going trial. If it had been thrown out Andrew would still have his titles and patronages.

  10. Miranda says:

Is he incandescent, or does he think Andrew’s heart is in the right place? Those feelings seem pretty mutually exclusive to me. Is he trying to play both sides for some reason? Because that’s totally unnecessary in this instance. No one is going to be mad at him for banishing a paedophile.

  11. Lili says:

All this shows me is that William is out of touch, with reality and with what is going on in the world and needs a new set of advisors, From Racism to paedophillia to climate change. Remember Harry saying he had to be schooled by his wife on issues with race. so Willy boy needs an education on the changes in the world and the old rules no longer apply. who knows this case with virginia could just be the begining and Andrew may well find himself behind bars.

    • booboocita says:

How I wish that PA stood even a remote chance of incarceration in a US prison. But Virginia Giuffre’s lawsuit is civil, not criminal, so at worst, he’ll pay hefty damages (and I’m doubtful he’ll do that).

Ghislaine Maxwell has said that she will no longer fight the release of the names of the eight John Does named in her criminal trial. If PA is one of the John Does, he might actually face criminal indictment. Here’s hoping …

  12. SnarcasmQueen says:

I’m tired of the royal family framing this as an embarrassing incident, as if Andrew was caught in a less than flattering yet consensual encounter between adults instead of being complicit in the sex trafficking and sexual abuse of teenaged children.

At absolute minimum, Andrew spent significant time and money maintaining highly visible relationships with sexual predators who traded children for money and who is creditably accused of availing himself of sexual coerced children.

This is not merely “embarrassing”. It’s complicity in some of the worst crimes in our legal system. And the royal family is actively engaged in obfuscation and conspiracy with the help of the media. And instead of dealing with it, this fool and predator is permitted to go where he pleases and hide in mommy’s skirts while living a comfortable life.

    • C-Shell says:

That sums everything up nicely! It’s infuriating that they all consider this a mere lapse in judgment, an embarrassment, while they openly facilitated his vile crimes for decades. If there’s a hell, may they all burn in it.

    • booboocita says:

      +1,000,000

  13. lady digby says:

Now we have had the benefit of Basher’s extensive wisdom, any idea what PA teddy bears think about Master Andrew? Do they want to kick him out of bed and see him jailed and no, they don’t plan on visiting him in the Tower either!

  14. Kat says:

    Bi$h, please.
Creeps cover for creeps. Especially within families.

The whole sordid lot of them need to have the monarchy collapse under the weight of their harmful, hateful actions.

  15. BayTampaBay says:

I think quite a bit of this “news” story is just made-up tabloid BS gossip.

    • Sid says:

Royah Nikkah at the Times just a couple of days ago wrote the same thing about being told Willileaks thinks Andrew’s heart is in the right place. She is one of Willileaks’s go-to “reporters.” That bit came from him and his people.

    • Sofia says:

I hope so because it’s not a good look for William to feel sorry for a guy going to trial for raping a 17 year old – uncle or not.

  16. Digital Unicorn says:

Either this story came from Chuck or its William attempting to counter the rage stories.

William, be very very very careful in what you say about this! Questions will be asked of YOU and your behaviour.

  17. OriginalLaLa says:

So they’re going with the “rapist with a heart of gold” ?? man, these people can’t read a room

  18. The+other+one says:

Would be nice if the monarchy was ended before the second in line even gets to wear the crown

  19. BothSidesNow says:

Oh my, Bitter Brother you are an absolute idiot and a disgrace alongside your Uncle. Last week we had stories of the Bitter Brother incandescent with rage. This week we have him spouting that PedoAndys heart is in the right place.

Your Uncle raped a teenager and his heart is in the right place? You are insufferable William! How truly unsympathetic and OOT this pr!ck is!!!

Charles put in motion the stripping of PedoAndy, no one else but I believe that TQ did speak with Anne, more so than Edward as Anne seems closer to her mum. But it was Charles who was able to strip PedoAndy his titles and patronages, as he finally told him Mum the gig was up with the Pedo!

  20. Eurydice says:

Oh William, maybe you should talk to Kate a little more – she “never puts a foot wrong.”

  21. Seaflower says:

I enjoy it when W gets these “I must look compassionate/strong/wise/environmental/insert adjective of choice” because he always comes away looking like a fish flopping out of water as he scrambles from one soundbite to the next without any plan or strategy.

  22. Over it says:

Her head wasn’t too far buried to punish Harry for marrying and loving his black wife though. Of course Willy thinks randy heart is in the right place. It’s next to William heart, somewhere in the Artic in an ice block.

  23. Harper says:

“Andrew’s heart is in the right place” = the Yorks are threatening to blow up #princewilliamaffair again if Burger King doesn’t watch his words.

  24. kelleybelle says:

Sure, William. As if we didn’t know how stupid you were already. Why don’t you lay your whole character right at the world’s feet, you incompetent idiot.

  25. girl_ninja says:

This family is sordid and corrupt and with Meghan and Harry gone they will always be trash. William is a trash bucket, accepting anything this family does, except for his brother who just wants to live a happy, safe, productive life with his family. I read this morning that Andrew used an “Andrew” puppet given to him by his deceased pedo friend on the young women he abused. He is a disgusting person and I would be heartbroken if I was one of his daughters.

  26. Merricat says:

No one whose heart is in the right place would participate in child sex trafficking. It is so obvious that it’s embarrassing to have to explain that to the trash family Windsors.

  27. Jennifer says:

This all sounds like writers making up a bunch of BS, from the heaet line to the varying accounts of Andrew’s reaction.

  28. What says:

Williams priorities are in the wrong place. This was coming it just shouldn’t have taken this long. His thinking should be on him and his wife improving for this year and not hiding behind the jubilee and his socalled earthshot prize. It’s sad that California can give lunch for a meaningful MLK holiday which highlights why MLKs thirteen year old granddaughter can make a speech better and more eloquently than a forty year old who’s supposed to be the savior of the monarchy

  29. RoyalBlue says:

Ahh Willileaks, so Andrew’s heart is in the right place, just like your heart was in the right place when visiting Rose Hanbury. You were just extremely concerned about her loneliness and sense of well being given her husband’s long absences. It wasn’t your fault she just happen to slip and fall on your dick. Your heart was in the right place as you were just preventing her fall.

    #princewilliamaffair

  30. aquarius64 says:

What Einstein at KP signed off on this mess? Bulli-am sympathizes with an accused rapist? I could see this is fresh and maybe a rush to judgment. But Andy reeked of this for TEN PLUS years and thanks to the co-sign Billy looks pervy too.

  31. KFG says:

Is this the new royal line? He loves mummy and sacrificed his fake titles so we should ignore that he is a child rapist, predator, and pedophile… he has a good heart, for the rich and yt.

  32. dreamchild says:

@cessily there is a documentary about twins brothers who are part of the aristocracy called Tell Me Who I Am. They really dive into the sexual proclivities of the Ton. I think one of the worst is the crazy artist Earl father-in-law of the other black Duchess or Countess. Eye opening.

  33. Debbie says:

Amazing. Andrew is claiming to be broke but here he is hosting a shooting party, of all frivolous things. And the queen is allegedly paying for it, yet she’s also busy trying to rhetorically distance herself (and her funds) from Andrew and saying that she won’t pay for anything else.

Meanwhile, the British press is falling all over themselves to credit that same queen with taking “decisive action” in finally stripping Andrew of a few military titles, etc. after decades of wrongdoing. Backwards, backwards and entitled. In light of all this, I’d like to thank the year 2021 for revealing the true character of the British royal family. I’d also like to give a special shoutout to the “royal” family (Ha!) who, after all this mess, still cares more about the queen’s jubilee than any lasting damage to the victims of sexual abuse.

  34. bisynaptic says:

they all think virginia is the kind of inferior person who is beneath consideration.
