Kate Gosselin’s fame wh*oring brother Kevin Kreide and his even bigger fame wh*ring wife Jodi are back at it again. And this time they’ve teamed up with just about the biggest media loving lawyer around: Gloria Allred. All three of these people are just terribly, terribly concerned for the wellbeing of the Gosselin kids. How selfless of them! Instead of understanding the concept that extended family has no say in how children are raised, they continuously go on various morning shows to do nothing but complain about how the Gosselins are living their lives. And now they’ve got an advocate in Allred.

Oh, and to make matters worse (or better, depending on your view), Jon Gosselin has joined their side. After years of staunchly supporting his kids being on the show, Jon’s obviously been singing a different tune lately. Because TLC doesn’t want the douchebag on their show, Jon suddenly feels worried for his kids and their mental health, and has pulled the plug on the whole thing. Basically if he can’t get the money, no one can, no matter how much his children need it.

Anyway, the Kreides were on CBS’s “The Early Show” this morning talking about just how worried they are for the kids, and how they and Gloria Allred are working to create national laws to protect children in reality shows.

Kate Gosselin’s brother Kevin Kreider and his wife, Jodi, appearing on the CBS Early Show Tuesday, said incidents such as the Balloon Boy fiasco prove there needs to be legal “safeguards put into place” to shield children from being exploited by reality TV.

The Heenes publicity stunt “makes it very clear that parents and people will do whatever they can do get on a reality show, kind of thinking that’s a great way for quick fame,” Jodi said.

The Kreiders, appearing alongside L.A.-based attorney Gloria Allred, said that there are currently no federal law protecting kids in reality shows despite the obvious need. Allred said a campaign to spur such measures is in the works.

The Kreiders, who had a year-long falling out with Jon and Kate Gosselin over the handling of the children in terms of the TV show, patched things up with Jon this past weekend. Kevin said the eight Gosselin children “haven’t skipped a beat.”

“It really encouraged the point that we need to help children in all reality shows,” Kevin said. “Our experiences can be useful.”

The couple said they strongly oppose any new reality show featuring the obviously-marketable Gosselin children.

RadarOnline.com interviewed the Kreiders back in June when the Gosselins first announced their split; asked what lessons were to be learned from the show, Jodi said that America is witnessing what “the destruction of a family [and] a marriage is like; it’s horrible that this is what people are thinking is entertainment.”

What’s really interesting is if you watch the video, Kevin won’t say that he thinks Jon Gosselin is opposed to his kids being on the show because he cares about the kids. He kept saying things about how Jon’s motivation wasn’t what mattered, but just the fact that he agreed with the Kreides and the kids wouldn’t be filmed anymore. So while Kevin’s clearly a total wang, he’s not so psyched to have Jon on his side that he’ll actually lie and say he thinks the guy’s decent.

I do agree with the need for there to be more protections for kids on reality shows, but I’d say there needs to be more protections for children in general. What there really should be is the end of this fascination with “reality” shows altogether. It makes people act like morons and think overly-dramatic, ridiculous behavior is normal in real life. The exultation of reality television needs to end, along with the exploitation.

It’s so ironic that the three people who claim to be looking out for these kids are really just trying to get fame for themselves.
