Will Prince Harry & Meghan visit with Queen Elizabeth next month?

I honestly can’t contain my excitement that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be on the road next month. August has not been the best month for gossip (in general) or royal gossip in particular. It’s always exciting when Harry and Meghan decide to leave Montecito, and I’m looking forward to seeing them at the Invictus Games event in Germany, plus their stops in the UK for One Young World and WellChild. You can really tell that the British royal reporters are thrilled too, finally some good gossip! Those same reporters refuse to dig deeper or hold anyone accountable for, say, the Cambridges’ strained marriage or Prince Charles’s many financial shenanigans. But all of those same reporters rushed out – whilst the Benny Hill theme played – to comment on the Sussexes’ trip:

Harry and Meghan may use their visit to the UK next month as a chance to see the Queen, royal experts said today – although their arrival coincides with a busy week in which the monarch will also meet the new Prime Minister. The couple are likely to want to spend time with the Queen after enjoying ‘barely 15 minutes’ her during the Platinum Jubilee celebrations this summer, according to royal watchers. The monarch is currently in Balmoral but will be in London on September 6 to meet either Liz Truss or Rishi Sunak. Earlier this month, she invited Harry and Meghan to join her at her Highland retreat, The Sun reported.

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams today suggested a meeting with the monarch would be more likely to take place in London or Windsor. He told MailOnline: ‘The reports that the Queen had invited Harry and Meghan to Balmoral were never confirmed. However it would only make sense for them to see her when she is at Windsor and when they are based at Frogmore, as they could only spend a very little time with her during the Platinum Jubilee.

‘If she does come down as anticipated, she may receive the new Prime Minister at Windsor or at Buckingham Palace. There would also be time for her and the Sussexes to discuss the future, which hopefully will be more constructive than the recent past. They also must be aware that some form of reconciliation in the Platinum Jubilee year would surely be beneficial for the image they want as philanthropists.’

However, Phil Dampier suggested Balmoral could be the more likely venue.

‘Whether he meets the Queen will probably depend on her. If she tells them she wants to see them I’m sure they will pop in for a chat,’ he told MailOnline. ‘I’m sure she would hope the relaxed atmosphere there would be more conducive to talking things through and trying to solve the problems they all face. Meghan won’t like the hunting, shooting and fishing environment of the Highlands but the Queen would feel much more comfortable mreting them there rather than a rushed meeting in London.’

While Buckingham Palace apparently let it be known that the Sussexes had given them advanced notice of the trip, it doesn’t follow that the Sussexes will make a special effort to visit the Queen. I mean… maybe? My guess is that Harry would absolutely like to keep checking in on the Queen to make sure that the people around her are not committing elder abuse. Out of all the options, I guess Windsor Castle makes the most sense out of a potential meeting place. I doubt the Sussexes would, what? Tack on some kind of day trip to Balmoral? That would be a waste of time. (Also: I feel like the Sussexes got more time with the Queen during the Jubbly than people claimed after the fact.)

Gosh these rota rats must have the same articles ready to press send and they just change some minor details every time there is talk of the Sussexes visiting. They are Exhausting!

  2. Snuffles says:

If Harry and Meghan visit the Queen, it’s because he wants to see his Granny. There will be no talk about reconciliation or coming back into the fold.

  3. Dee says:

I actually doubt they were told in advance. I think they get very little from the Sussexes, and the Jubbly was a one-off bc it was a “royal” visit. This time I think they found out when everyone else did. If they had been given actual advance notice, they would have definitely leaked the visit days ago.

    • Snuffles says:

I’m gonna disagree here. I doubt Harry and Meghan would come without security being sorted. And since RAVEC said they would consider Harry’s security on a case by case basis, I feel like Harry would have notified The Firm and RAVEC ahead of time and they agreed to give Harry what he wanted this time around.

    • Amy Bee says:

@Dee: Yeah I doubt they told the Palace in advance because it would have leaked to the press. They probably found out the same time as we did.

      • Izzy says:

No no, I’m SURE the palace was told in advance. As in, they got a call about it, and 30 seconds later Team Sussex released the news officially.

  4. Amy Bee says:

I don’t think they will go to Balmoral. The press likes to omit that Harry barely visited that place as an adult and never since he married Meghan. Most likely they would see the Queen when she goes back to Windsor Castle.

Balmoral looks lovely to visit for a sunny afternoon, but it looks kind of miserable to stay there for any length of time.

Tomorrow says a high of 60 degrees with spotty heating and 100% chance of rain. (And that’s the middle of August!) Noooo thank you. Let’s have tea at Windsor and call it good.

  5. Eurydice says:

Lol. Since the Jubilee, profits have been pretty slim for the tabloids. Thank goodness for H&M.

  6. Solidgold says:

“Royal Expert “ always makes me laugh. They do not have the gravitas to refer to themselves as a historian. So, royal expert it is. Everything they write is pure speculation and garbage.
It says a lot the British institution surrounds themselves with tabloid sleaze.

  7. BUBS says:

“August has not been the best month for gossip”….hahahaha…Kaiser, I can feel your pain from here! Don’t worry, #SussexSeptember will be lit…and in a very good way!

  8. Nicki says:

Harry loves his grandmother, and she has limited time left. I think if it’s possible, he’ll make the effort to see her.

    • Amy Bee says:

I think it’s been established that getting to see his grandmother is not always up to him.

  9. Moi says:

Futz William has always been a story teller with nothing useful to offer but tales and hot airand dampier is a has been/ never was bitter bitch man. His take will always be tinged with spite and venom. Royals wouldn’t spit on him if he was on fire but he’s acting like a f**kin gate keeper between a grandson and his grandma. Seriously , before Meghan all he did was mark birthdays of long dead royals on his twitter page .

    • Eurydice says:

I’ll bet all these hacks and has-beens are silently thanking H&M every day.

      • CheChe says:

LOL…the Sussexes certainly brought the heat to the royals. They’ll never have the same impact on the world stage.

  10. Jan says:

What the Sussexes have to settle with the Royal Family? That ship sailed a long time ago.
The Windsors have no say in how the Sussexes live their lives or run their businesses.

    • BeanieBean says:

Right? There’s truly nothing left to work out, the Sussexes have got it all figured out & are living their best lives.

  11. L4Frimaire says:

I like that they’re visiting the UK for themselves and their charities, and it has nothing to do with the Royal family. If they both have time, maybe they’ll see the Queen, but that’s not why they’re going there.

  12. karkopolo says:

I can’t wait to start hearing more about the Queen’s failing health again and how Harry simply *must* visit her publicly to save her from dying

I hope he gets to visit her if that’s what he wants, but in the way he did before Invictus–quietly, without the press ever noticing, and on his own terms.

  13. Margaret says:

Why should they visit the queen?. Just a simple question, please no, because she is his granny, or she is ill. Some reasons please to justify more than 15 mins. Of her time, that zoom wouldn’t suffice.

  14. Saucy&Sassy says:

I laughed when the 15 minutes as mentioned. Does anyone think that they only had 15 minutes with TQ? Frankly, if that’s all of the time they got to spend with her, I don’t think they should go out of their way and change their busy schedule for another 15 minutes.

It’s pretty obvious that the bm is praying for a reconciliation. They really want a piece of the Sussexes. They are doomed to failure, and they can look in the mirror for the reason why.

    • Lucky Charm says:

I never bought the “they only spent 15 minutes and no pictures” line. Perhaps there was a 15 minute “formal” meeting, but I’ll bet they spent plenty of time privately with her and the kids and got a few pictures.

  15. MikeB says:

There has never been any confirmation that the Queen invited them to Balmoral. The Firm has tried to humiliate them with the help of the experts and tabloids every time they visit. I see no reason for them to go and be humiliated yet again. Their visit is private and has no association with the royal family.
