The royal tea in Katie Nicholl’s The New Royals is so lukewarm. It’s not that surprising – Nicholl made a name for herself in her early days as a de facto talking head on behalf of the Middletons. Nicholl would simply write whatever Kate, Carole and Pippa wanted her to write. Nicholl still keeps up with her Middleton connections, and I believe she also has sources within Kensington Palace’s staff operations too. All of which makes The New Royals very carefully written and, as I said, lukewarm. There’s also a lot of “the Queen thought this” and “the Queen didn’t understand that,” all from fussy old biddies who clutch their kerchiefs when a divorced woman comes into the room. Some highlights from the Daily Mail excerpt of The New Royals:
Kate hated Meghan on sight: There had been persistent rumours about tension between the Sussexes and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, as Kate and William were then styled, from the earliest days of Harry’s relationship with Meghan. Harry had hoped that his sister- in-law, Kate, would show Meghan the way, that the two women would become friends. It seems, however, there was a coolness between them from the off – a ‘personality clash’ was how it was put to me by someone close to the Princess of Wales. Harry’s complaint was still more personal: that he didn’t truly have the endorsement he really craved from his brother and Kate, the ‘sister [he’d] always wanted’, as a source put it. William did have concerns, in fact – not least that his brother’s relationship with Meghan had progressed too quickly.
William “had reservations” about Meghan: ‘It’s probably a bit strong to say he didn’t like Meghan from the start, but William had reservations,’ confides one of the Prince’s oldest friends. ‘He was obviously happy for Harry but he was also cautious, as he always is about people getting close very quickly to his family.’
Queen Elizabeth hated Meghan’s white wedding gown: The wedding day was a great success, although the Queen had reservations about the pure white of Meghan’s Givenchy dress, designed by Clare Waight Keller. According to a source: ‘The Queen was surprised that Meghan wore pure white on her wedding day. Perhaps it’s a generational thing, but she believes if you’ve been married before, you wear off-white on your wedding day, which is what the Duchess of Cornwall did.’
The royal fast track: So anxious was the Queen to include her new daughter-in-law, in fact, that she put Meghan on a Royal ‘fast track’, granting her the patronages of the National Theatre and the Association of Commonwealth Universities, which she had held herself for 45 years and 33 years respectively. It amounted to a very public endorsement. In March 2019, she elevated the Duchess still further, appointing her vice president of the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust to work alongside Harry, who was already serving as its president.
Jealous Peggington: These were plum roles for the Sussexes, so significant they made William ‘slightly jealous’, according to one source. ‘[The Queen’s Commonwealth Trust job] was a role William had rather fancied for himself,’ said the insider.
Frogmore Cottage: When Harry and Meghan announced their wish to move out of Kensington Palace, the Queen offered them Frogmore Cottage in Windsor Great Park as their new home. This was not the suite of apartments at Windsor Castle they had hoped for. It was a generous gesture nonetheless, recalled Lady Elizabeth Anson, who died in 2020. ‘The cottage was a big deal,’ she said. ‘The Queen’s entrance into the gardens is right next to their cottage. It is essentially her back yard, her solitude, and her privacy. She was giving that up in gifting Harry and Meghan Frogmore Cottage. We all thought it was very big of her. She said, ‘I hope they’ll respect it.’ ‘
What’s funny about the “William had reservations” conversation is that William and Kate have always wanted to have it both ways – they want to say that they gave Meghan an honest-to-God “chance” and that Meghan ruined it and they also want credit for knowing immediately that Meghan wouldn’t “work out” as part of the family, therefore they were completely justified in treating her like sh-t from the word go. Pick one, it can’t be both. The “reservations” conversation is also about William’s racism and how he was likely the one telling Harry not to get serious about Meghan because of what their children would look like.
As for the stuff about the wedding gown… God knows. QEII’s generation was like that, so it wouldn’t surprise me if she had thoughts. It should be said that Camilla did NOT wear off-white to her second wedding though, she wore a crisp white dress and coat to the civil service, then she changed into a pale grey-blue and gold ensemble for the wedding service at Windsor Castle. When Nicholl gets details like that wrong, it makes you think, huh.

THE CAUCASITY!!!!!!
Everyone: Let the British Media and the Royal Family DESTROY the late Queen’s legacy. When they finish with ad-libbing what she said after death without her ability to set the record straight she will look petty and racist. So, sit back and let them destroy her legacy as they attempt to continue to punish Harry.
Definitely think we’ll see more and more royal reporters writing the queen actually thought this about Meghan. She’s not here anymore so nothing is stopping there lies and insinuations. Although, nicholls would have written this prior to the queens passing but can still see the RR trying this.
@MAKEEVERYDAYCOUNT
I totally agree
I agree too, and although I was no fan of the Queen, this is still really gross
Good point.
@MakeEverydayCount-MOST EXCELLENT COMMENT. Let’s put words coming out of a dead person’s mouth because it’s convenient in a continuous smear campaign too. Next thing up from the BM/BRF-it was the Queen all along that made the color questions even though the QE2 & Philip were ruled out.
Ruin her legacy-great plan. I saw that clip going around with John Oliver & Seth Meyers and how the UK edited out what Oliver said about a 96 year old dying. Had to laugh. People have talked about QE2 having a sense of humor. Unless the PTB’s want to take that away from her too. People with a true sense of humor recognize why it’s funny.
There are photos of Ann wearing white for her second marriage so this is just more made up outrage for the hate groups to take as gospel 🙄.
Katie Nicholl is lying (again!). This “controversy” made me so curious I went to check old articles and photos. Anne is wearing a bright white suit, and there are photos of her with her family, including her mother and grandmother, who all look very pleased for the couple.
She likely shaded Anne for it, too. I can see Ann wearing what she pleased.
Honestly this is pretty tame, I’d expect the same from my grandma (who would be 95 if she were alive still.) very much a generational thing
Pretty sure that Princess Michael of Broochb$tch Kent wore white when she wed Prince Michael in their civil ceremony. It was her second marriage-think they were engaged while she was still technically married. The wedding happened quickly after the divorce was finalized. Correction, the paid for annulment I believe.
@Stacey Dresden: The expression you used was created for precisely such an occasion. And may I suggest that perhaps if Meghan had worn a dress with a large red letter D for “divorce” similar to Hester Pryne, perhaps the BRF and BM would have felt better. You know, four years after their wedding, and following that glorious welcome which they all retroactively claim they gave her.
Well exactly. Camilla’s dress is off-white in the same way that Kate’s dress was primrose yellow. If–and I think it’s a big if–TQ had any thoughts on the color of Meg’s gown, she would have kept it to herself. Seriously, who would TQ sit & have a natter with? Is that a person who’d go running off to the tabs or the likes of Katie Nicholl? I don’t think so.
Ooooh, your negritude!
But, didn’t Princess Anne wear white at her wedding to her second husband?!? Hmm..
They can lose this nonsense about what the women wear until they come up with something that details the groom’s status. The white wedding dress was actually popular because of Queen Victoria and had nothing to do with previous weddings or virginity anyway.
I mean if the queen didn’t like it she could have simply forbade meghan to wear it. As head of the Church of England she had the final say over the dress.
Which leads me to believe that the queen actually had no complaints at all about it. Not about the fact that it was white nor about it being off shoulder.
I have a hard time believing the queen had any thoughts about what anyone wore to the wedding. She had more important things to think about.
Right @equality. QV wore white as a sign of wealth.
The white is supposed to signify purity – ie virginity. I think we can safely say that Waity Katie was no virgin underneath her snow white wedding dress – or, frankly, any other modern royal bride since Diana so this is, once more, nonsense trotted out to attack Meghan.
I would have thought the queen would have seen the dress or at least the designs in advance and could have vetoed it loooong before the wedding day. I think if she had hated it, I am sure Meghan would have tried to make some changes (depending on how much time was left before the wedding). So I think this story from Katie is fanfic at best.
I am glad that Kate and Meghan didn’t worry about wearing white. The fixation on virginity is especially creepy when you think of the comments one of Diana’s uncles made about her virginity. So weird and so gross and archaic!
Queen Victoria was the first bride to wear white because she thought it looked pretty and she could afford to wear a dress only once. And she made her bridesmaids wear white, too. She asked that no one else wear white just so they’d stand out in the paintings. Nothing to do with virginity. Before QV’s wedding, brides wore brightly colored dresses, with red being the favorite color of brides. In Judaism, bride and groom both wear white to signify starting fresh with a clean slate.
Anyway, I think Kate really liked Harry better than William, but wanted the best title. Kate was always sidling up to Harry when the three of them were out and about. Meghan got in the way of Kate’s Harry crush, and I think that’s what really makes Kate hate Meghan. Just my tuppence worth.
Not with the nicknames she was called that are well documented. I don’t think it’s a compliment to be referred to as “mattress”😳
@BW
Honestly, I think that’s exactly where Kate’s initial bitchy feelings came from- jealousy. Actually, it was always jealousy. Later on, it was because of how Meghan shined and performed so well at the job right off the bat while Kate is still struggling 10 years in. But initially, I think she was jealous to no longer have Harry’s attention at gatherings. Harry saw the way Will treated Kate and I think he tried to make up for it, which is another reason he was so disappointed and hurt when none of that goodwill came back to him or his girlfriend (at the time). Kate and Will are both just such assholes.
The white thing is nonsense. Queen Victoria was the first royal to wear white at her wedding and it wasn’t to signify purity it was to signify that she’s royal and she can afford to wear white. Other rich folks started following suit and it became a thing because most people couldn’t afford to wear white because of keeping it clean and most people didn’t have multi-dress wardrobes. Somewhere along the line it became about purity. I don’t thing QE2 gave a rats butt and people feel they can now make up things because she isn’t here to say anything.
Thanks, Mel. I did not know this!
Mel, you took the words out of my mouth. This fixation on bridal purity is so patriarchal. As you stated, Queen Victoria started the craze and that was less than 200 years ago.
She didn’t wear white to prove she was a royal. She wore it to come to her marriage as a woman and not a monarch. Not purity so much as simplicity. It’s why she refused entreaties to wear her robes or crown as well. Royal weddings usually had silver or gold cloth. Very rich material. Victoria had hers weaved at spitafelds to help bring attention the lagging industry. Same with her lace. Rather than honiton or Valenciennes she had it made in Devon to bring attention. I actually wrote a book on her wedding.
wow, CourtneyB, that’s so cool! thanks for posting!
Yes Princess Anne wore white to her second wedding. Nicholl should do her homework before spouting her fiction.
Nicholl is so gross. I never believe a single thing that she says or writes. Also, the Queen didn’t “gift” H&M FC in the sense that she gifted other properties to the family. She let them rent a rundown house and in the end, didn’t lift a finger to help when they were pressured into paying back what was necessary to make it livable.
If Frogmore Cottage was literally in the Queen’s backyard, let’s remember that it was once staff housing, so her grandson was no more privileged than staff. And is this the same Katie who put out the story that Harry was in love with the girl from suits- one that Harry contradicted in his engagement interview?
Also isn’t Windsor Castle under a flight path to Heathrow? So not only were they gifted a rundown servants home, it was loud at all hours. Gee, what a great gift!
It was originally reported that H+M were moving to Adelaide Cottage. I’m guessing they were first offered that but turned it down because it was too small and/or they couldn’t make the renovations they wanted since its interior came from a stripped down royal yacht, complete with gold dolphins in the main bedroom.
And how was TQ giving up her backyard to H&M? When was she ever in Windsor? I think she may have lived there a few weeks of the year in years past, but not recently, right? Wasn’t she mostly in BP, Sandringham, & Balmoral? Even if she continued with her annual round of residences & did stay at Windsor regularly, it wasn’t for long. TQ gave up nothing.
@beaniebean – up until the pandemic, the queen spent most weekends at Windsor when she was otherwise in residence at BP. So she was either FT at Balmoral (late summer/early fall), FT at Sandringham (christmas through early February), and then at BP during the work weeks for the majority of the rest of the year, besides time at Holyroodhouse for official events in Edinburgh and some weekends at Sandringham etc. So when she was at BP during the week she usually went to Windsor on weekends and probably spent weeks there as well.
For the pandemic she moved entirely to Windsor, but H&M were gone by then obviously.
Frogmore Cottage is not rundown! Like most of the Crown Estate properties, it’s simply very old, and obviously needed updates and refurbishments, which were already underway well before the Queen made the choice to gift the property to M&H! See my below post about FC’s distinguished history. Also, read what M&H said on their Sussex Royal site in early 2020, about why they moved to FC.
@MeganC, the gossipy chatter in the lead-up to M&H’s wedding regarding Adelaide Cottage, was just pure guessing and speculation, never substantiated.
Please stop with the inaccurate litany of Frogmore Cottage being a mere shack and sad sack servant quarters. Frogmore C’s history is significant and distinguished, especially architecturally. It has always been in the shadow, however, of Frogmore House because of sharing the same name and because of how connected the two structures are historically.
FC was built by Queen Sophia Charlotte, sometime after her husband, George III, gifted her with Frogmore House. QSC decided to build a garden retreat where she could relax and host small gatherings for friends and family. Those ancient royals often got tired of living in big, drafty palaces LOL! Through building FC, QSC ended up popularizing the Cottages Ornes style of architecture in England.
Comparatively, FC is larger and more significant architecturally than Adelaide Cottage. FC housed many royal relatives, as well as royal staff over the years. Adelaide Cottage has also housed royal staff.
Another thing to note for once and for all (as M&H explained on their Sussex Royal website): Frogmore Cottage was already being renovated as part of needed refurbishments for a number of Crown Estate properties. It was not suddenly picked out and fixed up for M&H. FC was gifted to M&H in large part because they needed a larger residence; they preferred to leave London; they had a fondness for Windsor; and FC’s renovations would be completed in time for them to move in by March 2019, well ahead of pregnant Meghan’s expected delivery date for their first child.
Princess Anne wore white to her second wedding. I don’t recall eyebrows being raised then. Come off it, Katie. Your racism is showing loud and clear.
Nicholl is a joke and she’s not doing the Wailes any favors. If this sells it would be a miracle.
Of course Kate hated her on sight. Meghan was getting all of the attention of her wing bro-in-law in Harry. Not to mention black, brilliant and beautiful. As for Will, he was probably attracted to Meghan along side his prejudice.
I agree totally. The look pw gave meghan as she stood at the altar with Harry was one of pure lust
“Hated” is def closer to the truth than “coolness”…Nichols sure likes her euphemisms. I always remembered that Khate didn’t bother showing up for the first meeting; my guess is that she was so estranged from Bill that feelings were nonexistent and as it was not a “work” function, she didn’t feel like acting/basking in the glow of H&M’s new love. Also, I’m sure Khate hated the fact that Harry told Meghan everything, and more than anyone else, Meghan would have insider info on her and Bully’s relationship/what POW was like as a brother, husband etc. Khate wouldn’t let anyone see behind her mask, especially not someone as confident and happy as Meghan. That must be why Keen is so guarded and insecure: her life sucks and she doesn’t want anyone to see her cards.
And yet Waity wore white.
Right?!? After she and W had been living together for years.
NOOOO LMAO SHE AND WILL WERE JUST ROOMMATES!!! PLATONIC!!!! NO SEXUAL RELATIONS UNTIL WEDDING MIGHT!!!!1!1
Unpopular opinion but I sort of understand William’s view at the end of the day Harry and Meghan are adults but I get his view. I always wonder what Harry promised Meghan for the marriage because everything I like about Meghan makes it apparent that marrying into the royal family doesn’t make sense.
She said the firm promised they would protect her. Even Harry was duped because he sounded excited about their partnership and future work during the engagement interview. If Harry didn’t know the family and institution (esp the family) would turn on Meghan, Meghan wouldn’t know. He was respectful and supportive of Kate and Camilla in public so he thought they would extend the same.
No i don’t mean in regards to media, I mean giving up your life to do what the royal family does its not exciting, despite their privileges its not a life I would want and very view can honestly adapt it seems more of a nightmare. Listen I like Meghan, but everything she appeared to work for does not correlate with the royal family, that’s why I was wondering if Harry promised her more.
^^ @E.A, the answer to your question is simple: Meghan and Harry bonded immediately over mutual passions for giving back and doing good things to help others in need. Then they fell deeply in love, recognizing a soulmate in each other.
Harry promised Meghan his heart and his lifelong care and devotion. She did the same. Early on, as Meg told us in the engagement interview, they made a commitment to each other. They each also made sacrifices along the way, to nurture their relationship, to sustain their loving bond, and ultimately, to save their marriage and to protect their children.
Say what now? You understand William view? William doesn’t get to voice his view to Harry , a grown ass man about his life choices unless Harry asked for them and even then William should be able to be supportive and say I can see how happy she makes you so I support you. Just because William waited 10 years to Marry Kate because he still isn’t sure , doesn’t mean Harry had to do the same to Meghan when it came his way. William was with Kate forever and yet he can’t stop cheating on her, so what was the point in waiting all those years for? Harry promise Meghan to be a devoted, loving supportive husband and that’s exactly what he is. This is exactly why she married him, and took all the racist abusive shit that came with it, because if their love for each other.
IDK, if Kate is the standard by which all married-ins are measured, then it was never going to work for Meghan. She isn’t content to waste her potential sitting on the sidelines so as to not outshine her in laws.
I don’t know about promises, but, apart from being in love with Harry, maybe Meghan saw that Harry was able to do good, substantial work within the RF structure, like Sentebale, Invictus, WellChild, etc. And maybe she envisioned a life with Harry, sharing their charitable goals and amplifying those goals through the perceived power of the monarchy. The projects she was able to do while with the RF aren’t so different from what she’s doing now. What she didn’t get was that the marketing of the RF as working for the public good is just a sham.
So there’s a very real chance that William’s view at the time was being concerned about the skin color of their future kids. Personally, that kind of invalidates William’s views at the time bc they were all likely filtered through a lens of casual racism. Not that there’s anything casual about racism. Like I don’t really believe that William was concerned for Meghan bc she was such a competent person that she was going struggle within the confines of the RF. Harry and Meghan are in love and want to be together. What should she have done? Not marry him? Given him an ultimatum that he must leave the RF to be with her?
she seems to be saying meghan should have hightailed it out of there and dumped harry. the same thing that the courtiers are hoping could still happen now.
Lol well that ship has sailed. So I guess they can now say Meghan should have know better than to marry Harry. It’s seems v unlikely that Meghan is going to leave Harry and vice versa. They can dream I guess?
When I watched their engagement interview, I get the sense they were both very excited and looking forward to WORKING. They both had their work ethic for charitable causes and compassion lined up. I think Meghan was truly excited to work and bring attention on a global platform for the causes she cared about.
@ dido, she was excited!! Harry and Meghan were both willing to go the distance that was expected of them. The problem was that Meghan had, in the very early days she spent with QEII, had found an ally with the Queen. She bestowed those honours in Meghan, as well as Harry, as she saw that Meghan was a natural fit. Let us not forget that Meghan was invited for Christmas as well as the train tour alone with QEII having just been married one month.
Meghan came in like a breathe of fresh air with carrying her own grand achievements, her education, self made as well as a good source of philanthropy on her own.
Had Cain and Unable gotten off of their lazy arses they too would have been granted these great patronages. But they were too jealous, angry and petty to see beyond their ugly selves.
@E.A.- I don’t think Meghan was focused on what life would REALLY be like in the Firm (and how could she even know? She herself said that everyone welcomed her AT FIRST), she was focused on the fact that she loved Harry.
Not to mention, hindsight is always 20/20
@E.A., William’s view of what exactly? That two people in their 30’s knew what they wanted in a partner and found it? We’re not talking about 15/16 year olds. We’re talking about two people that had full adult working life experiences and previous relationships coming together saying I choose you for the right reasons.
Curious that people think/believe that Harry may have promised Meghan something. The question should be what did the BaRF promise Harry to leave the Army? I’ve seen a lot of the interviews with Harry from 2015. He answered a number of questions very tactically. He could have stayed in the army in a number of different ways that would have supported his desire to have a family. The BRF needed him back due to the laziness of W & K.
Harry & Meghan’s work ethic & charisma outshowed FFK(at the time) & his wife on a global level. H&M’s popularity needed to be contained. Operation Smear Campaign.
LOL. The Queen being concerned about Meghan wearing a white dress. She was so distressed and upset that she took Meghan on a solo overnight engagement less than a month after the wedding on the Royal Train. Two things Kate never did before. And one Kate will never have a chance to do.
I totally agree, I don’t see the issue with William being cautious, anyone with money let alone royalty would be- I don’t get the hate on him for that. Was Kate mean from the get go- I totally believe it. It’s a pretty normal in-law dynamic honestly especially sister in laws…
Well she couldn’t very well wear the same color her sister-in-law was wearing, now could she?
Lol
I LOVE that so many of us had the same reaction to that part 🤣🤣🤣
He, he, shady!
@ Miranda, comment of the WEEK!!!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 🤣🤣🤣
Anne wore white to her second wedding (Timothy Laurence) as well. I’m not sure QE was fussed about that—I get the feeling that some jealous “source” had issues with Meghan in general. I had forgotten how much QE did for Meghan (and Harry) in a relatively short amount of time. Clearly, the queen was impressed by Meghan’s capabilities, because she did not do this out of the bottom of her heart.
Betty also wore white to Chuck’s second wedding just to be petty.
These people have such small lives. It would be sad if they didn’t have a million chances to be better and chose violence instead.
I don’t know why but this whole issue with the white dress seems like an issue that Angela Kelly would have. While she was the queens dresser, her opinion is not the queens. Have no idea if it was AK but just seems like a thing she would say.
@ Jais, it sounds like a Petty Kaity statement, not AK 47. Though, I wouldn’t put it past her though.
Has that battle axe been fired yet????
@jais, as I mentioned in a thread yesterday this bit about Meghan wearing white to her wedding came out in 2018. Now, I absolutely believe that this came from Angela Kelly, and I believe that she was Low’s source for his version of the tiara story as well.
I absolutely do see the Queen saying bitchy things like this about Meghan in the run-up to her wedding. She allowed people like Anson to bad mouth Meghan’s plans for her wedding even before the wedding took place! Anson never would have spoken to the Press, as she did here, without the Queen’s say so. Also, the tiara story would not have gotten the traction it did if the Queen didn’t want it to. Not only is the Queen not Innocent in this but I believe that she had a hand in spreading malevolent gossip about Meghan.
I’ve grown to really like Meghan’s wedding gown. Anyone else kind of meh on it at first, and now really like it? I wonder what THE QUEEN thought about Khate wearing cream to her brother-in-law’s wedding…
There is no ‘royal fast track’. Meghan wanted to keep working not laze about in KP. It’s kind of obvious now that The Queen preferred Meghan over Khate and why.
I’m the same. At first I was just ok with it, and she’s gorgeous of course. But because of its classic and simple look, it can look good in any era and I’m in love. Everytime I see it on my Twitter timeline it’s just more gorgeous.
I’m kind of wondering though if she had a different design in mind or settled on this one because now we know she had so much difficulty trying to get palace staff to do even simple stuff.
I wonder about that too. Meghan’s style reminds me a lot of Carolyn Bessette Kennedy’s that I wonder if she would have chosen a sleeker gown if she had less restrictions. But big weddings need big dresses, I guess.
I absolutely adore her wedding dress! I just wish it had fit her better – it was too big
She was losing weight because of her idiot Father, greedy siblings and all the stress they were putting her under.
I loved the cut, but the fabric was just too thick. It’s like she was standing in it rather than wearing it. Her veil was beautiful.
That dress is so white it shines in the outdoor pictures. Love that she shines especially knowing they wanted her to dull that shine. The shape is timeless and Meghan looks timeless in it, even with the looser fit. At the time, I liked Kate’s dress too however now all I see is the boob darts and my initial like for it has waned. As many have said though, the love for Meghan’s dress grows every time I see it. Am I having bias? Probably but it still feels true!
Kate took the shape of Princess Margaret’s wedding dress, added lace, boob darts and embroidery. Probably hoping for the Queen’s approval. Even at her wedding, she was a royal bride CopyKeen.
^^ I believe it was the wedding dress of Princess Grace that Waity Katie was trying to CopyKeen.
Yes!!! I also thought the same at first but in recent years, I’ve just loved it more and more. There’s a black and white photo of her and Harry where she doesn’t have a veil on, and you can REALLY see the minimal effect she was going for! She’s sitting on stairs and her tendrils, tiara and neckline really looks amazing.
No. I loved it the moment I saw her in it. She literally took my breathe away, she is stunning!!!! The dress was perfect, her veil, crown, everything was perfection on her that day!!!! Her going away dress was perfection as well!!
I had read somewhere that she did discuss flowers, as well as food too with QEII for her wedding, right?? And other details as well. Am I remembering this right??
No sleep last night…….

TRANSLATION: Here’s an unlivable dump that will take millions to make inhabitable. You should appreciate that I’m letting you live anywhere near me.
Your post is hilarious but also accurate. If this is how PW responds with a big-time hate campaign when he is just “slightly jealous”, I pity anyone he really envies.
Funny @Snuffles. But the only issue is that while Frogmore Cottage is very old, and all old residences need maintenance, care, and periodic updates, FC has NEVER been ‘an unliveable dump.’ That’s purely the inaccurate party line of unnecessarily agitated Sussex Squaddies. M&H would not continue leasing FC if they didn’t like living there. Jack & Eugenie wouldn’t have moved in for a time if it wasn’t a pleasant abode.
It would behoove FC detractors to understand from M&H’s own words that they were happy about moving into FC because they both love Windsor Great Park, and because the renovations that were already underway well before FC was gifted to them, would be completed in plenty of time ahead of Meghan’s late April 2019 due date. Thus, they could move in and be well settled prior to worrying about their first time parent jitters. 👍
I do wonder why there is so much animosity and bile directed toward FC by so many Sussex supporters, who surely have never seen the property in-person, either before or after its 2018-2019 renovation.
Oh, so Burger King wanting to ship Harry and Meghan off to live in Africa is only “slightly jealous”?
Hell, Bullyiam pees green from envy…….
While Petty Katie goes in for more injections……..
And buttons!!! We certainly can’t have enough buttons!!!!
Ummmmm…. wasn’t Frogmore Cottage used as staff quarters previously? As I recall, it had been divided up into multiple apartments for these purposes. I’m wondering if the queen’s solitude was disrupted by that, Katie Know-Nothing? Do tell!
Camilla is a known whor(s)e and Waity Katy was no virgin on her wedding day. If we’re going to be strict traditionalists, they shouldn’t have worn white on their wedding days either. And that goes for Cam’s first marriage too. See also: Anne.
Yes!
And yes Camilla DID wear white to her wedding with Charles. Underneath that coat thing is a white dress. In pictures that aren’t toned gold/beigish, it’s white.
Her civil cermony outfit was white, the blessing dress was blue/gray with blue/gray/gold overdress.
Must be where Kate got her inspiration for her not-white coat dress at the Sussex wedding. https://media.vanityfair.com/photos/5aba960edd3307642814821f/master/w_1600%2Cc_limit/Embed-02-MAG-0418-Coup-of-Hearts.jpg
Given that Charles and his Imperial Son are well known philanderers, they had no business wearing uniforms on their wedding days either!! Imperial Son had shegetz’s his way through University as well as his father during his younger years. They certainly was no honour between the two of them to be wear uniforms.
Even if they are playing dress up, which they were.
Both Anne and Camilla wore white at their second weddings so I’m sure the Queen didn’t have a problem with Meghan wearing white. I can think of a few reasons why Kate hated Meghan on sight. These people are just terrible.
Meghan couldn’t wear off-white because Kate already was and she didn’t want to match.
Good one!
@ Becks1, had I been an invitee, you can be certain that I would have accidentally spilled my red wine on her dress and hat, though after I stomped on it.
Middle class my ass!!! I was raised middle class and I would never dream of attending in a dress within a any degree of that color. The Meddletons are nothing but lower class as they prove to the world over and over again.
William wanted Harry to wait and be sure of his pick because William waited a decade and to this day is still unsure of his pick. Let me rephrase that: it wasn’t a pick as much as a “only woman willing.”
I bet Pegs and Mumbles would still be jealous and tell Harry to slow down, even if Meghan wasn’t biracial. Even if she’s white, let’s look at her achievements and compare these to ALL of the royals who have resources:
– Northwestern grad
– self-made millionaire
– series regular
– proven long-term philanthropist and volunteer work including for the military community (this is Harry’s heart!)
– can speak 3 languages
– diplomatic and PR experience
– exceptional public speaker
And then of course, she’s beautiful, intelligent and kind. Seriously?! The royal fools couldn’t compare! Harry thought he struck gold, being able to meet, fall in love and marry someone who he thought the firm would be delighted to have. Alas they’re so stupid.
You know what strikes me about the whole, “William was uncertain of Meghan and told Harry to slow down the relationship with her?” It’s the fact that it was known for years before Meghan strolled into the picture, that Harry was the type of person who fell in love hard and fast. For years the press was talking about how he wanted a family and children and wanted them soon. There were even stories about how he’d scared off Cressida bc he’d been way too enthusiastic, and she was too young and wasn’t sure she wanted to be with him, let alone marry him, and they broke up for that reason.
And in all those years, there was not one single story about Baldy urging Harry to pump the breaks and exercise some caution, to slow things down and not rush anything, to be cautious, etc. In fact, what I remember of those years were endless stories about both Baldy and Kate apparently giving Harry a lot of advice and urging him to settle down as soon as he could, because he couldn’t keep flying solo forever.
Then, the moment Harry is with Meghan, Baldy is suddenly EXTREMELY concerned about Harry moving way too fast and rushing things? Suddenly caution is very important? ??? Gee, I wonder what was so different abt Meghan vs. Harry’s previous girlfriends that prompted Bald Loser to instinctively not want to trust her, then dig his heels into that instinctual mistrust? HMMMMMM. /s
Yeah because Kate deserved to wear the virginal white too right???
One son married his mattress, both sons were buddies with sex offenders, but Meghan wearing white to her second wedding? The horror! But it seems to fit with the rest of the f*cked up thinking of this family. They are like spraying perfume on a garbage dump, you just can’t hide the fact that they stink. I hope this is just idle gossip from Katie No Nothing’s usual sources. As for Kate the Friendless and Baldemort, who cares how they feel or what they think.
@ MsIam, Amen!!!! Louder for those in the back please!!!
Also re: Frogmore – these past few weeks are the first I’ve heard that H&M wanted an “apartment of rooms” at Windsor Castle. It seems to me they would much prefer having their own house (i.e. Frogmore) than rooms in the castle. Is this a lead up to W&K moving there (or just William), to make it seem like its normal and expected for the other royals to have rooms there?
Meghan and Harry were quite clear that they were offered an apartment at KP or Frogmore, and they picked FC bc it would be ready sooner and the renovations would cost less. Nothing about WC in their own statement.
Maybe it’s so that PW can look important because he could get what they couldn’t? It doesn’t make sense to me either.
According to Harry, his grandmother QEIi was always kind and decent to them. Whatever her flaws, the fact that these vultures are using a dead woman’s supposed “opinions” as a cudgel to beat her grieving relatives is…distasteful
Spot on.
Expect a lot more of the same in the future.
Yes. The official mourning period is over and they will be roasting QEII over the coals for the never ending future, as long as it suits their narrative.
I find it extremely appalling that they are even bringing up QEII!!! My god, she just passed away!! Do these people have any sense that God have a toad??????
Is it me or is Cams slyly flipping the bird in the middle picture????
Wouldn’t put it past someone who wore white to bully Diana on her wedding day …
Didn’t Liz have to approve the wedding dress? If the color was such an issue, wouldn’t she have said so? This is so stupid
Hogwash. I HIGHLY doubt the Queen would have been such a purist about something like that. And Nicholl is a joke, and a flagrant liar. I remember how she said Prince Harry crushed on Meghan and watched her on Suits for 2 years, and then Harry said during their engagement Interview that he hadn’t known who she was until their date.
“I HIGHLY doubt the Queen would have been such a purist about something like that.”
Agreed. Even for the Queen’s generation the white dress symbolism lot meaning a long time ago. It has nothing to do with “second wedding”, the white symbolized virginity and chastity…soooo, forgive me but the vast majority of us (including the royals) shouldn’t have been wearing white at our first wedding either! 🤣
What nonsense this “author” is.
Meh. My mother sniffs about white wedding dresses, but would be horrified if the bride ever found out. She knows her audience, me, my sister, friend who will roll their eyes at her.
I can believe that TQ commented on all these bride’s dresses, with no expectations that they would change anything.
Things that you learn as a child are taboo can be hard to let hold of. You just have to notice them pop up and let it go.
Yeah I can see the Queen “caring” but not caring, you know? Like maybe she thought that M shouldn’t wear white (and thought that Anne shouldn’t have to her second wedding etc) but didn’t actually care beyond that, certainly not enough to say anything or whatever. My guess is for the all the grandchildren’s weddings, the Queen made sure to make her opinions known on the things that actually mattered to her and didn’t really spend a lot of time thinking about things like whether or not Meghan should wear white.
I mean, this was the same woman who didn’t like people to use the word pregnant, so I can totally see it.
Three of the Queen’s children have experienced the pain of divorce.
She would’ve had her priorities in order, more like the happiness and well being of one of her beloved grandsons than mere appearances.
Iirc, this is also the book which recounts the story of Meg “chastising” the chef for the wedding because he didn’t do his job and put egg in the vegan dish. Apparently TQ just suddenly popped in while Meg was making sure the chef got his job right and told her “we don’t speak to people that way in this family.”
That’s such fan fiction I don’t believe a word Nicholl says.
Don’t know if Nicholl’s put it in a book. She did have an article about a few days before Archie arrived. The actual menus negate what Nicholl’s claimed.
Yes, TQ was so upset she invited Meghan to accompany her on an overnight trip on the royal train barely a month later, something she hadn’t ever done for Kate in the seven years she’d been married to William.
Why does Kate get to wear white to Meghan wedding but Meghan couldn’t?
Because Meghan is a divorcée and Kate is not.
Yet… she is hanging onto William by a thread
Mattress Middleton should not have worn white in her wedding day. She’s tacky for wearing white to Meghan and Harry’s wedding.
The wedding dress comment annoyed me, but only if she did not express the same shock at Kate wearing white. She and William were basically common law married by the time they made it down the aisle. Neither of them were virginal brides for goodness sakes. Ridiculous.
Did she actually commented on the dress?
Will and Kate were not common law married they did not set up housekeeping in one residence she lived with her parents and spent some weekends with William he could have broken up with her pre wedding with no legal tied to her
They lived together at St. Andrews and later, prior to marrying, in Anglesey. But my point was not that they were legally bound, it was that after living together for that amount of time it should have been as much of a shock (to the Queen) for her to wear white as it was for Meghan.
You all do know that william waited to the last minute, to announce he would be best man. See video of willy and harry talking about it, during the visit the three of them made at the church, for remembrance day, before the wedding, right after louis birth.
He was not ask until the last minute, subsequent revelations explained Harry’s reluctance.
He thought the wedding would be called off, didn’t he.
He was an engagement and answered a question about him being bestman and replied that he was not asked .
I don’t know if I read that much into it – I mean of course its possible, but my brothers were each other’s best men at their respective weddings and I don’t remember either actually asking. I do remember at one point my one brother (who got married second) said something to my other one about being best man, something like “duh you know its you right” and that was probably 2 or 3 months before the wedding LOL. So it could have just been that he wasn’t asked, but Harry just assumed he knew he was the BM.
I think H&M had decided not to have a bes-tman/ bridesmaid hence why he wasn’t asked.
But I do wonder if Bill making that comment forced Harry’s hand.
I think all these reporters are causing a lot of fatigue reading about Meghan Markle. I wish she had dropped a new archetypes podcast today because she would have blown all these people out of the water. I hope she gets back to it ASAP because it was nice to be reading and hearing straight from her.
I am hoping that we will be gifted the opportunity for another #Archetypes!!!
Meghan is loved!!!
I always get a kick out of anyone saying that William thought Harry was moving too fast with Meghan. He wanted everyone to apply the William standard: no less than ten years dating before marriage. Harry and Meghan took about the average length of time before marriage.
It is alleged that William intoned that they got engaged and married early to attain security measures for Meghan.
So clearly he understood the implication and if he chose not to, it was none of his business.
If an aristo responded to wills romantic overtures he would have left Kate in a heartbeat imo
Slightly O/T all this talk about white dresses but, Diana the one royal bride who could have worn white chose to wear ivory! I wonder what TQ said about that? 😆
sometimes i wonder if the Queen actually said anything, or if it was someone else saying something to her and the Queen just nodding.
I think the Queen was amongst the nonsense, but she had a job to do.
Did anyone see this weekend’s Daily Mail article about Angela Kelley and the rats?
I took it to mean shots fired in case Kelley plans to spill any tea.
Just look at what the Queen did, the breach that she wore to the wedding, the colour of the dress.
Her complete acceptance of Meghan, the train trip and other combined engagements after the nuptials.
All this belies her words in this retelling, up to the jubilee where the Sussexes were escorted to their seat by someone in her personal employ.
Why would she care about the colour of the dress?
It could’ve a nod to a throw away assertions.
I think it was not the dress, but the radiance of the bride.
She was present.
One had the feeling that one was apart of the couple’s intimacy.
Edit in line 2 – broach
I think the Queen wasn’t threatened by Meghan’s beauty, ability, work ethic, or success.
@ fani, no, you are right. QEII relished in the fact that Meghan was a very well suitable and the perfect addition to the Firm, as well as the BRF. QEII reveled in how brilliant, enthusiastic, professional as well as charismatic, empathetic and loving she is. Meghan was the perfect other half for Harry. They are each other’s Yin to their Yang.
Last week I was looking into the years of yesteryear and looked at their train ride together. Meghan had QEII laughing to the point of being in stitches!!! As well as the fact that Meghan tried to have QEII enter the car first, but she insisted that Meghan go first as she walked around to the other side. I do believe that they did share a lovely, deep and respectful relationship, even after they left.
Do you mean actual rats, fani, or are you talking the two-legged variety? The article I saw just said she was locked out of the queen’s apartments.
“On one occasion Miss Kelly rang a royal aide to complain about an infestation of rats.
A flunkey was despatched to investigate and found that the rodents were nesting in plastic bin liners full of clothes — among them royal garments — which were dumped all over the house.”

Are we really surprised. Eliz was someone who insisted people didn’t say the word “pregnant” around her; it had to be “I am expecting”. Apropos of nothing really, I loved the colour of Camilla’s dress – that gorgeous grey/green. And her hat. As for Camilla the person, no thanks.
Camilla wore that to whatever it was they did at Windsor Castle.
For the real wedding … the civil service she wore bright WHITE dress and a white coat that matched. PLUS a white hate.
God. I did not remember the register do. The green dress was for the blessing. You’re so right. The hypocrisy.
Twix, you need a Snickers bar. Betty White is chuckling in heaven at the idiocy of your comment. A veil that encompasses Commonwealth countries is ridiculous?lol
I never knew that! My grandmother was the same. You could not say pregnant, you could only do a small gesture of a bump with your hands or she would be scandalized. 😂
I mean, QEII is of the generation that refused to receive divorced people in an official capacity, and excluded them from public occasions as a rule, bc they were divorced. I go back to that dialogue in The Crown with Lord Altrincham, where she gets defensive abt that and says that the sovereign is the head of the Church of England, and the CoE doesn’t recognize divorced persons. And she has to be gently told by Lord Altrincham that it’s actually quite a mean thing to do, to exclude divorced people, and probably a little bit illegal.
The exchange and the dialogue is probably a bit of fiction and all, but the sentiment expressed is probably accurate on both their parts. It IS mean and probably a little illegal to discriminate against divorced people in such a way, but the Queen probably also thought it was the moral and right thing to do, to be unkind in such a way to divorced people. And I don’t think her attitude on that has changed in the slightest. The only person she made permissions for as far as divorce goes was her sister, and that’s pretty much it.
So I can kind of see the Queen very politely saying something like, “Oh is she wearing white? I thought divorced persons don’t wear white to their second weddings,” and then trying to pass it off as her just asking bc she really doesn’t know, in the way so many old people who are purposefully rude try to dodge accountability for their rudeness.
Well, @ A, she had no issue with her own daughter wearing white on her second wedding.
@A, the same Queen that had Boris Johnson and Carrie over for the Balmoral holidays mere months after Johnson dumped his wife (who had been fighting cancer) for Carrie (his mistress with whom he had been cheating on his wife) to whom he was not yet married?
The same Queen who had Edo over at Sandringham for Christmas before he was married to Beatrice and not long after he dumped his Baby Mama with whom he had been living?
The same Queen who didn’t seem to be bothered about allegations that Andrew sexually assaulted an underage girl?
The queen had a problem with Megan wearing white at her wedding? The Queen’s outdated ethics and morals seem to have been applied very selectively.
The Rota keeps going over the same stuff to keep Meghan’s name in the news and for financial gain. The remainders just don’t generate the needed click bait interest.
I mean… it was important for Charles to marry a virgin so I’d believe it, although I think maybe it was more of a petty offhand comment “Oh, she wore white?” and they’re running with it, because who’s going to dispute?
I don’t believe for one second that Betty loved Meghan or even Harry. She was diplomatic with them and they thought she loved them.
💯💯💯
Exactly..
I call BS on this. So they decided to have this big public wedding overseen by the Archbishop of Canterbury which the Queen and Philip attended , but she didn’t want her wearing white? So all of the optics involved, horse and carriages, St. George’s chapel, huge crowds and flower girls, Harry all spiffy in uniform but Meghan was supposed to wear a beige pants suit? How does that make sense? Didn’t the Queen see the dress in advance and lend her a tiara? This is disrespectful to the queen from such a royal worshipper and just makes no sense. Total BS.
I see Katie talking to Angela Kelly here.
So we’re to believe that the queen was annoyed that Meghan wore white, because her moral standards were so high … this is the same queen who shielded Pedrew? (Katie N. is doing the late monarch no favors here.)
Liz was a canny old gal, who seemed to genuinely love Harry. For all her moral failures, she was smart enough to see that Meghan would be an asset to the RF in ways that dim and lazy Kate never would or could be.
No wonder William was jealous of the patronages and the welcome the queen gave to Meghan — they highlighted his own failure in marrying Kate.
And we don’t like the fact that this family parades in stolen diamonds. Now what ?
This needs a like button.
Remind me again what Kate nickname was In college it rhymes with mattress but Meghan shouldn’t have worn white to her wedding. Because she was divorced but Camilla was a mistress for years to charles it was both their second wedding she wore white that ok and Anne was divorce and her second wedding . So the black woman sexual history is questioned and deem she shouldn’t wear white but the white woman who clearly were not virgins it was ok for them to wear white . So this is the message that the royals wanted out that the black woman married into the family is deem unworthy of wearing a white gown she should have worn cream or better yet red because she not pure but Camilla who a know adulterous Kate who called a mattress was photography in see through clothing to get William attention was also photography in a compromising moment their ok to wear white .
So Katie Nicholls confirms that Kate hated Meghan on sight. I mean anyone who knew how kate dealt with women who were potential competition could have predicted this. The shopping story was just one sign of how kate did not want to accept Meghan and to this day she never did.
What galls me the most about that “shopping” incident is that the alleged reason later given by the tabloids for Kate not offering Meghan a ride was “security” concerns. What, giving a biracial woman a ride implies a security threat to Kate?
Camilla and Charles did not have a church wedding they went to the registry office with immediate family this ceremony was not televised Camilla wore a white Dress with matching hat her leaving the ceremony with Charles was televised then they went to the church blessing and she changed into the gown the blessing was televised and the queen attended
I read a sample of Nicholl’s book, and it was awful. Sooo many errors. Also, in the kindle sample, at least, each page was a new chapter. After I see glaring errors, I don’t buy the book.
welp, I don’t like that queenie married and procreated with her cousin. but maybe it’s a generational thing .
Beanbag, the Queen always spent a lot of time at Windsor which was her “home”. Balmoral might have been her favourite place but Windsor was her favourite home. When she was younger she was there every Friday teatime to Monday afternoon. This changed the last few years to every Thursday to Monday at Windsor. She also spent a month there in the spring and a whole week there for Royal Ascot. For a while she went there at Christmas and, of course, she lived there permanently after the pandemic started.
Fergus was living with someone before she dated Andrew and she got to wear a wedding gown and veil at her marriage to Andrew
