Ashton Kutcher was drunk when he told Mila Kunis he loved her the first time

Ashton Kutcher is training for the 2022 New York City Marathon. To his credit, he’s doing it to raise fund for his and Demi Moore’s charity Thorn: Digital Defenders of Children. I can find a lot of ways to criticize Ashton but his fight against child pornography and trafficking is highly commendable. While he trains, he’s filming a series with Peloton called Our Future Selves in which he invites people to run next to him on treadmills. It’s a clever concept. I couldn’t do it, my ‘interview’ would consist of Ashton blathering away while I alternated between gasping for breath and cursing him in broken Gaelic for subjecting me to this nightmare. But Ashton wisely selects people who can run and talk, like Kenny Chesney. On Tuesday, they posted a clip of their training session in which Ashton told Kenny that he was partly responsible for Ashton telling his wife, Mila Kunis, he loved her. Ashton said he’d been listening to Kenny’s song with Grace Potter, Tequila and You, drinking, when he was overcome with the need to rush to Mila’s house and tell her he loved her for the first time. Tequila will do that to you. It sounds like Mila told him to shut up and go to bed.

Ashton Kutcher is opening up about the moment he confessed his love for Mila Kunis.

In a clip from Kutcher’s new Peloton running series, Our Future Selves, the That 70s Show alum, 44, shared how he broke the news to his now-wife with the help of his guest, country singer Kenny Chesney.

“The first time I told my wife that I love her, was while listening to ‘You and Tequila,'” Kutcher said in a clip shared to Peloton’s TikTok account Tuesday of him running alongside Chesney, 54, on a treadmill.

“I might have had a little too much tequila,” he jokingly added in the 10-part series from Peloton where Kutcher welcomes various guests to join him as he trains for the 2022 TCS New York City Marathon.

“I showed up drunk at her house, at like two in the morning, and I just started screaming, ‘You and tequila make me crazy,'” continued Kutcher. “And I told her I love her, and she’s like, ‘Don’t say it if you don’t mean it. Are you gonna love me in the morning when you wake up from this hangover?'”

The following day, Kutcher confirmed to Kunis, 39, that his feelings were legitimate. “I woke up the next morning and said, ‘I still love you,'” Kutcher shared.

I have a firm relationship rule of if it works for them, it’s not for me to question. Within reason, of course – I’d never condone abuse. But I wouldn’t repeat this tale if it was my I Love You story. Maybe to certain friends but not on a public platform like a Peloton series. It makes sense that Ashton wanted to tell Kenny he was such a big part of his relationship with Mila. But I definitely would’ve passed it though the editors before taking that story wide. Like, how did he get to Mila’s house if he was so drunk? And did she essentially have to take care of him once he got there like you do most drunks? That’s romantic. Of course, Mila is clearly much more patient than me because if you wake me up at two in the morning to tell me anything that doesn’t involve lottery winnings, we’re going to have a problem.

However, I am not the one who matters here, Mila is. I assume this isn’t the first time Ashton has told this. The idea that Ashton was so moved by his emotions that he had to tell Mila right then and there is sweet. Kenny probably loved the fact he played cupid. One thing did strike me, though: I was trying to remember the first time my husband and I told each other I Love You and I can’t. So, would I rather have a rushed to my door drunk ILY story or forgot what happened ILY story? In this case, I’m not bothered by forgetting just as I’m sure Mila isn’t bothered with a tequila-soaked admission, so I guess we’ll just stick with what works for us.

the part of this story that I look askance at is the part about how he got to her house. I’m assuming it wasn’t walking distance, maybe he has a driver? IDK.

I am pretty sure I was drunk the first time I told my husband I loved him, and he probably was when he told me for the first time (at my brother’s wedding, and he told me like a month before I told him, LOLOL.) Ah, young love. 15 years married. but we were in our early 20s and still kind of in the post-college haze of life (i.e. still lots of late nights, etc.)

Omg when I was single, this guy I was dating invited me out to the bar. I didn’t feel like it so I declined. He got shit faced, calling me from the bar and kept hanging up cause he was so drunk. He ended up coming over to my house and knocking on my door. I did not answer cause I was not in the mood to deal with a drunk. After that I was done.

Here is an interesting point to this story. Demi ended her long term sobriety in an attempt to essentially spice up her relationship with Kutcher to terrible, sad results.

In a way, it was good since it led to the end of that unhealthy relationship (for both of them) and Demi got sober and healthy again but wooo boy, I side eye this story. Like a lot.

I really like Mila, Austin not so much because of how weird and shady was acting after his former wife Demi released her book. That’s another story though.

Idk. I kind of like this story. I like how their love story unfolded. Friends for years but not super close, then they end up sleeping together. It surprises them both. The keep booking up and finally they’re inseparable. I just appreciate the realness of the love story.

Of course he did. He’s such a frat boy.

I first told my now-husband I loved him when I was pretty tipsy. We were at a bar with friends, life was grand, I was happy. Wouldn’t do it any other way! Ashton’s done some stupid stuff, but I’m not sure why anyone would take offense to this story.

Just came to say “Meh” to AK.
There is something about him..I don’t like him.
Good Luck to Mila, IMO, she will always be the Adult in their relationship.

Oh my God. That is exactly the way I feel about him (in my more generous moods). There’s just something… ick.

His efforts to end child trafficking are commendable. BUT…

whenever I see him, I see the dude in the douchey trucker hats that pranked people on his stupid show, and 90% of the time, the pranks on Black people involved the police and threats of arrest etc. Not funny at all. Hopefully he has grown from that.

I agree with you Hecate, if you’re calling me at 2:00 A.M. it better be about a lottery win – that we are SPLITTING.

Yeah whatever works for them. You know what else works for them? Not showering.

I told mr. mj I loved him for the first time by accident once when we were having sex. I insisted on taking it back and that it didn’t count and he good naturedly agreed. A few weeks later he blurted it out while tipsy and tried to take it back. I’m less good natured so I insisted it counted and I’d hold onto it forever.

  10. Cynic says:

I don’t follow this guy much because I find so much of him to be fake, but please remember that this champion of preventing child trafficking is best friends with Danny Masterson. Masterson is currently awaiting his multiple rape trial to begin and is from a prominent Scientology family, a “religion” currently being sued for trafficking people into America on religious visas and not allowing them to leave. These people have their passports taken from them and are then forced to work for the “church” for about $50 a week. Ashton and Mila are not stupid. They have attended Scientology events and parties with Masterson in the past (yes, even while he is awaiting trial) and know very well what is happening in the Scientology organization.

More to this story, if memory serves. They were dating and she fell for him, and said she wanted to stop seeing him because he wasn’t ready or as committed or some version of that. No idea where I read that but I do remember her telling the story in first person. Then he showed up at her door wanting to commit.

  12. Jaded says:

True story: I waited 35 years to hear Mr. Jaded tell me he loved me (and he wasn’t even drunk!). We were in a relationship back in the late seventies for a little over a year during which time neither of us said the “L” word. He dumped me after spending several months in LA with a very rich, successful buddy, I guess I wasn’t exciting enough for his newfound celebrity lifestyle. He met another woman, a well-known singer in the LA music scene, and they were married about 6 months later. Marry in haste, repent at leisure. Then in 2015 we ran into each other at a bar, he was divorced, I’d never married, and *KABOOM*, love ensued. I think he told me he loved about 2 days later and we’ve been together ever since.

  13. StLuGal says:

Mila told a story on Corden on growing up poor and eating pizza all the time bc her dad worked for Domino’s. So now she hates pizza. For their anniversary, Kutcher got her a pizza oven. That has to say something about their relationship, I think.
