Oh, Mimi. What are you doing? It’s November, for goodness sake. Granted, I’m still wearing flip-flops in Virginia, so it‘s probably not that cold in Malibu. But I’m not a diva. And I’m not campaigning for an Oscar. Put some clothes on! Also, Us Weekly put these photos up with a link to a story called “See celebs who are tired of being called fat”. Rude much? Mariah doesn’t look fat to me. She’s curvy. She has a lovely, voluptuous figure. She just needs to learn what clothes are flattering on her figure. Usually she packs herself into some too-tight dress that makes her look like a stuffed sausage, or in this case, a really unflattering halter swimsuit which is cut badly for her figure.
Mariah was filming a music video for her song “H.A.T.E.U.” I’m not sure how Mariah in a halter cut down below her navel really helps, but she may be trying to convince us that she’s not pregnant? While she was on last night’s Larry King Live (full transcript here), Larry asked her about the pregnancy rumors. Mariah replied: “Right now? I’m going to take a swig of my scotch and let you know… [being pregnant] would be the happiest thing in my life, but what I’m saying is right now with this movie [Precious] coming out, with the next few singles from the album and those things that I’m doing, I need to focus on that because I cannot do the having-a-child thing halfway.”
Mariah also admitted to Larry that she had been “emotionally, mentally” abused in relationships, saying: “Well, it’s scary…You know, I just think you get into a situation, and you feel locked in if your situation is similar to one of the situations that I’ve been in which I won’t harp on.” Larry asked, “No, you don’t have to, but it is hard to get out?” Mariah replied: “For me, to really get out it was difficult because there was a connection that was not only a marriage but a business thing where the person was in control of my life,” Carey added. Good Lord, is she talking about her first husband Tommy Mottola? I’ve read interviews with Mariah before where she alluded to the idea that Mottola was a very controlling man, but I’ve never heard her allude to Mottola being abusive. Interesting.

Mariah recently said she has gained a ton of weight and it is all Nick Cannon’s fault, because she is happy.
It isn’t the most flattering thing I have seen her wear, few things are, but I give her props for not really caring about her weight and she knows that CGI will make her SLIM!

I agree with Mari. She’s just chunky, not gross, and the swimsuit does nothing for her. I honestly don’t think that suit would even look good on anyone. When I buy clothes online (should I be embarrassed to admit that?), my rule of thumb is “If it looks iffy on a model, it’s going to look like hell on me.” I won’t go searching for that suit anytime soon.

She was basically held captive in her manse in Armonk, Ny when married to Mottola. Not having freedom, if not for a crime I’d say is abusive.
I think she looks great. After witnessing that Alexa Chung show yesterday, I’ve concluded having some fat is great for you!!! (that chicks frame is not cute) Besides, if sh*t hit’s the fan, the skinny minnies will be some of the first to go.
I’d also like to add that her legs are toned, much more so then some skinny models.

I’ll always LUV Mariah, but I do wonder when she’s gonna become a little more refined and classy. Although she looks awesome for her age (almost 40) I can’t imagine her being 50 and still wearing second skin dresses and micro-mini’s. But it’s Mariah, so we’ll see…

Mariah has said Tommy was very controlling many times over the years. I can’t remember specifically what she said of the relationship but it wasn’t healthy or good for her self-esteem. Ugly, unflattering bathing suit. She doesn’t look big but the suit makes it look like she is.

it is gross! not a single flattering picture in the bunch. the bottom of that suit is too small and the top is too loose. the white suit is slightly better but only slightly. the Angel was tacky but this is nasty.
Letting it all hang out should be a frame of mind not a size of swimsuit.

M’s version of it fits had always been if I can’t breathe it fits. Which wasn’t flattering at her thinnest, wasn’t flattering at her fattest, and isn’t flattering at this weight either.

@ lilred: healthy is what I would call healthy, since you’re wondering. Curvy or thin doesn’t matter. Healthy and fit does. You can be fat and fit or thin and unhealthy. but if you are both fit and healthy, it shows!

NYC- Tommy Mottola is a well known ass who has had a LONG history of abusing all of the artists that were under his “wing”. He is not a nice man.
Mariah’s career soared to greater heights AFTER she kicked his egomaniacal ass to the curb.
This is not the Victorian era. If she wants to dress inappropriately, that is her decision to make, and not some bulldozing man’s right to tell her how to act, dress, what to sing, when she can go out and what she can do.
Mottola may have given Mariah her start, but that is only because he was the first to latch on to her. She would have made it whether or not he was involved.

Ok….a few things….
A stylist picked THAT swimsuit for her to wear in a VIDEO? REALLY? That person should be fired. It’s hard to airbrush video footage - she is safer sticking to still shots. ;o) She is definitely not fat. Curvy, yes. But the thing is she really does stuff herself into trashy tight hoochie mama dresses. She would look a whole lot better if she didn’t spill out of everything. That’s when we can see all the flaws. Pick appropriately sized dresses. And I’m not saying she can’t dress young and fresh, but she is almost 40. Stop with the belly shirts! Especially since the belly ain’t at that tight!
Secondly….she split from Tommy TWELVE years ago. How is this relevant now? Oh, I guess she is trying to compete with Rhianna? Keeping herself in the news? Not sure, but we heard it all before. I’m not condoning his behavior if he was “abusive and controlling” but he did help her career just a tad. Not worth it if he hit her though, IMHO.
My two cents….oh, one more thing. She has a phenomenal voice - absolutely beautiful. But, do we need to hear her range in EVERY song?

I don’t think her career was bad post divorce necessarily but it certainly had its moments when she seemed to flounder and she tried to hard to full rap/ghetto/cool instead of gradually progressing into that realm. And I agree that her clothing became trampier post divorce.
Mariah cheated on Tommy and she made diva demands on him.
Tommy is married to Thalia now and I haven’t heard her complaining.
