King Charles is not pleased that Prince Andrew is ‘stirring up the muck heap’

In the past week, Prince Andrew and his new PR team (?) have been blitzing the British media with stories about how Andrew plans to do battle with Virginia Giuffre and how he wants to overturn the settlement he made with Giuffre last year. Andrew wants us to know that he’s assembled a $10 million-plus “war chest” to hire lawyers and “clear his name.” He also wants us to know that he’s plotting a big comeback, that he will continue to use his HRH-style and his titles, but don’t worry, he’ll only use his titles to make money. In all of the York-PR pieces, they mention that King Charles is supportive of his brother’s efforts and that Charles agrees that Andrew needs to keep himself occupied. The problem is that… Charles has every reason to be horrified by Andrew’s neverending need to make an ass out of himself. Now “friends of the king” have told the Daily Beast that of course Charles doesn’t support any of this.

There was a resounding silence from Buckingham Palace Tuesday following a jailhouse interview with sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell in which she defended Prince Andrew, suggested he never met Jeffrey Epstein victim Virginia Giuffre, and said that a famous photo of Andrew with his arm around Giuffre’s bare midriff, taken when she was 17, was a “fake.”

Andrew paid a reputed $14 million settlement to Giuffre to settle her claims out of court without admitting guilt last year ahead of his mother’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. He is reportedly now mulling a bid to reopen the case and overturn the settlement. While the king’s press office and official sources declined to comment on the interview to The Daily Beast, a friend of the king scoffed at reports that the king would support Andrew in trying to re-open the settlement.

The Sun earlier this week cited a source as saying that Charles was “happy for (Andrew) to pursue this…Andrew is still his brother and he wants the best for him.”

However, The Daily Beast understands that this is very much not the case, and that Andrew is likely to be strongly discouraged from trying to revisit the settlement. A friend of the king’s, asked if they believed Andrew would receive Charles’ support to re-litigate the case, told The Daily Beast that the king would on no account wish to see the “muck heap” of allegations stirred up again

The friend said: “Charles led the charge for Andrew to stand down from royal duties and settle the case. He will not want him to start stirring the muck heap now. I very much doubt Andrew will get this off the ground. There is no love lost between the brothers, and there is no way back for Andrew.”

There is likely to be considerable irritation that comments about Andrew made in the interview with Maxwell have comprehensively overshadowed the plans for Charles’ coronation, released with great fanfare on Sunday.

[From The Daily Beast]

As many others have pointed out, including lawyer Lisa Bloom, Ghislaine Maxwell is a pretty terrible character reference, and she’s truly the only one “defending” Andrew at this point. The fact that Andrew thinks a convicted human trafficker’s defense is his ticket to a full exoneration is pretty f–king telling. This piece also convinced me of something that was bugging me about the earlier reporting – Andrew is the one telling everyone that Charles approves of this or that. Andrew is leaking and lying about his brother’s support… all while Charles is picking up the cost of Andrew’s private security and allowing Andrew and Fergie to continue to live at Royal Lodge. I tend to believe Charles’s thought process is: allow Andrew to live comfortably and hope that’s enough to keep him quiet. It isn’t. So what’s Charles going to do about it? Because Andrew is absolutely going to keep trying to relaunch comeback after comeback.

Couldn’t happen to a more deserving King. Isn’t there a bible verse about one reapething what he soweth?

Looking forward to Guiffre’s memoir. May 1st sounds like a great release date!

    • May Bench says:

Charles is a horrible king. His people are starving and can’t afford to buy food while this fool spends millions on his crowning. He and his son Baldy are worth billions and should use their funds to help feed his starving people. But no, he foolishly ignores how desperate his flock is and continues to live as if it were the 1920s. I don’t think his reign will end well.

      • Where'sMyTiara says:

Someone needs to remind Cluck that the French Monarchy were tossed out because the people were starving while the King spent lavishly on himself.

    • usavgjoe says:

      I second that…
      Great start for KC3!

    • DouchesOfCambridge says:

The King was happy to suport Andrew, after all he is his brother, but right after it was announced that Virginia was preparing a memoir, guess what – The king doesnt support any of this anymore. lol The Dancing KFC

    • Jay says:

@Lanne Matthew 10:36 says And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household, which I think fits this situation perfectly.

Andrew’s PR has been very obvious from the start, but without access to his mum’s purse, I think he’ll find that his HRH doesn’t open the doors it used to. If oligarchs and despots have a choice between giving their shopping bags full of cash to the actual king or his grifter brother who no longer has any pull, I think we know which one will prevail. The only job I think Andrew might be fit for is as a fallguy to protect the heir, and honestly I think he’s even too stupid for that role.

  2. Geegee says:

I see an accident happening to Andrew soon.

    • Blue Nails Betty says:

I’m surprised Andrew hasn’t had a stroke or heart attack or any other super duper convenient medical event that could cause silence/death.

    • Ang says:

      Fredo, anyone?

    • The Recluse says:

Or….Chuck could hand Andy over to the FBI. They still want to talk to him. Just the threat of that might shut him up.

      • Where'sMyTiara says:

Cluck would never, because it would blow the lid off of his own pedo tendencies/connections. Cluck is only appearing to embrace the Yorks.
“Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer”. Cluck assumes Andrew under “palace protection” (guard) can do far less damage under his wing than he can running around scrounging for money dribbling secrets of the family down his chin.

I think, though, that Cluck’s previous treatment of his brothers is about to bite him in the butt. Everyone still ‘in the fold’ is starting to go after each other.

If these people and their lifestyles weren’t so devastating economically to the people of the UK, this would be an amusing royal cagematch to watch.

  3. BayTampaBay says:

I read today on another site that KCIII is kicking Andrew out of his apartment at Buckingham Palace and he may have to move St. James Palace if he wants living accommodations in London.

  4. Elizabeth Regina says:

Nah. I think Andrew has serious kompromat on everyone in that family and he’s not afraid to use it. The queen used her last card to bail out Andrew by giving Camilla her approval in writing. Andrew is not going to live quietly or hide away. He wants his lavish life style and trips back at the very least. With Sarah by his side, God help the monarchy.

    • DeeSea says:

Paedrew might have a “release this info in the event of my untimely death” provision as well. Charles could very likely be boxed into a no-win situation.

      • JaneBee says:

@Deesea Definitely agree with you that Andrew has a release in case of unlikely death trigger waiting to go. Most likely, it’s with Fergie because as much as he is despicable, he does apparently want to ensure that she and E+B continue to benefit from their positions with the RF.

But at this point – post Spare – and knowing that the BM seemingly already has the inside scoop on basically everything and doesn’t publish because of the invisible contract – is KC3 even afraid of Andrew’s kompromat at this point? RF just trades something (or someone) to the BM.

I guess the issue is if Andrew is threatening to go to international media who do not give AF and would go ahead and publish?

  5. KInChicago says:

A fool and his money are soon parted.

Let me tell you, popping popcorn and waiting for this imbecile rapist pediphile trafficker to fail yet again. Some lawyer is going to take the money and continue to embarrass all!

  6. Beach Dreams says:

By all means, let Randy Andy stir up the muck heap. It’s what they deserve.

  7. Mel says:

Andrew is everything that Charles deserves and a testament to QE2’s bad parenting. A spoiled indulged idiot who continues to do what he wants because Mummy always let him. I say let him hoist himself on his own petard, I hope his daughters are smart enough to love him but stay out of the line of fire, he’s determined to ruin himself.

  8. EasternViolet says:

Anyone get the feeling that BP isn’t answering any of Andrew’s phone calls, so he uses the press to get this brother’s attention?

  9. Jaded says:

Stupid is as stupid does. Andrew is simply puffing his chest and flapping his wings in advance of Virginia’s tell-all book. He can tilt at windmills all he wants but he’s too stupid to realize all this feather fluffing is keeping a very harsh light shining on him. I have a feeling this book is going to burn him and many others to the ground — I’m sure there a lot of famous men out there collectively sh*tting their pants in fear of what she reveals.

  10. Snuffles says:

“I tend to believe Charles’s thought process is: allow Andrew to live comfortably and hope that’s enough to keep him quiet. It isn’t. So what’s Charles going to do about it?”

Indeed. Is Andrew angling for more money? Or is he stupid enough to think he can mount a comeback. Interesting to see what Charles might do this time to smack him down. I hope he isn’t feeling homicidal.

    • Jay says:

In the olden days Charles could just have put his brother in charge of a crusade abroad and made sure he never came back or locked him in the tower. I guess that’s sort of what he’s doing with royal lodge – it’s a gilded cage, but a cage nonetheless.

I wonder what Andrew thinks he has to bargain with?

  11. HeyKay says:

I think at this point we all know that Andrew will use every dirty trick in the book, including blackmail to get his lifestyle funded. Fergie has always been a low class grifter, IMO. And the 2 of them together have nothing else to do but plot.

I’d rather have Chuck bury Andrew in cash vs. anymore endless ugly stories, plants, PR bull going on for months at a time.

Andrew if he had any chance of redemption, he surely would have found lawyers who would have taken him on and bled him dry of cash for taking the case. No chance in hell for him. His ego is huge! If Andrew had any brains at all, he’d accept banishment from public life, go off to one of the many fabulous houses/palaces and shut up. He still does not seem to realize he should be in jail.

I am so, so tired of all of the BRF. G*d awful the entire bunch.

I hope VG book names people and GMaxwell finally gets what is coming to her!

  12. Chantal says:

Too bad C-Rex bc Raggedy Andy is just getting started with his “return to public royal life” campaign and won’t stand down. None of C-Rex’ siblings have any reason to be loyal to him and are publicly telling him to play nice. His vindictiveness and pettiness has alienated much needed familial allies. He’s learning that the hard way and Andy esp will be a constant thorn in his side. The Entitlement Wars have begun..

  13. ariel says:

For Charles, it is all about being the center of attention- the most important.
Andrew overshadowed the coronation announcements! The horror.
    He needs therapy.

  14. Brassy Rebel says:

The never ending soap opera continues even without the Sussexes as the main villains. You just can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear which is exactly what the monarchy is.

  15. NG_76 says:

I read something the other day that Ghislaine said the photo of Andrew and Guiffre is faked; why is she even being interviewed from jail? It’s so pathetic.

  16. j.ferber says:

It’s your muck heap, Charles. Own it, be blackmailed for it or have a book written about it. Your choice.

  17. Pam says:

They should have saved their money and let the FBI cart him off while they still had a chance.

  18. JoJo says:

Tbh I hope they both crash & burn. Don’t like either of them.

  19. lleepar says:

I’m not sure the Brit media knows which way to jump on the Andrew stories. They bet wrong and went with official Palace sources on the Meghan stories.

There’s some scuttlebutt around that some media types are a little miffed at Palace sources for mismanaging and losing their Meghan cash cow. They may see Andrew as the next best royal mess to exploit, regardless of what the Palace wants.

    • Saucy&Sassy says:

lleepar, well, the media didn’t have to go as far as they did, so they should own their own mess. The palace “sources” couldn’t have done the damage that the media has done. I rather like the idea of the two sides pointing fingers at each other. They both have to own H&M leaving.

  20. blue says:

While re-watching “Borgias” on Netflix, the scenes where Jeremy Irons gets crowned (?) as Pope looks a lot like Chuck’s coronation do probably will. Really fancy costumes & carriages on parade. Jeremy’s carried in a fancy sedan chair but Chuck’ll probably ride in the gold coach.

  21. Molly says:

The wonderful irony of someone leaking on KC.

  22. Eurydice says:

If Andrew actually has $10 million, he’s more likely to spend it on another Swiss chalet than hand it over to a bunch of lawyers.

  23. equality says:

Andrew needs to get out and about and remind people of what monarchy represents. He is the best argument and PR for abolishing the monarchy.

  24. kirk says:

How do we know this isn’t just toady Tom Sykes trying to run interference and maintain BP access by deflecting attention from Spare? Please explain the legal theory by which he can “reopen the case and overturn the settlement.” Not happening. Even if Ghislaine is willing to lie about Andy in hopes of getting moved to UK. This article just sounds idiotic.

    • Saucy&Sassy says:

kirk, it gets better! I saw something that indicated that Andy was pressured into settling. That could only be QE2 that did that–or the present King. I just don’t see how a Judge in the US is going to be very sympathetic.

  25. Well Wisher says:

Wouldn’t it be useful to view Andrew as a private person who no longer represents the monarchy.
What he chooses to do should be of no concern to the actual institution.

Why bring up an unresolved situation?
It was never fully litigated in court, irregardless of one’s personal feelings of the allegations.

This has become a circular argument in the public sphere leading no where soon.

Someone needs to remind King Charles 111 and his media minions that there is life along/with /before/after /with his coronation.

  26. The Recluse says:

    Hey, Charles,
    it’s easy: F.B.I.
    Problem solved.

  27. QuiteContrary says:

As always, Charles is more concerned about Andrew “stirring the muck heap” than about Andrew having raped a teenager.

They both belong in the muck heap.
