Ashlee Simpson calls criticism of Jessica’s body “disgusting”

One of the things I do like about Jessica and Ashlee Simpson is the way they always stand by each other in the press. The tabloids are often trying to paint Jessica as jealous of Ashlee, but I think that’s based more on their assumptions rather than anything that’s actually been reported by “sources.” Younger Ashlee is married with a baby. Jessica supposedly wants those same things, but that doesn’t mean she’s jealous of her sister. I think she’s happy for her and desires the same, which doesn’t inherently equate to jealousy.

Anyhoo… a few weeks ago Ashlee was fired from “Melrose Place,” supposedly for sucking at acting in a big, big way. Jessica tweeted that the show was “crap” without her sister on it. I don’t really agree – it’s (somewhat entertaining) crap with or without Ashlee, but Ashlee definitely didn’t make it good. But it’s sweet that Jessica probably genuinely sees it that way because she’s biased towards her sister and sees this talent that the rest of us don’t. Now Ashlee has returned the favor, and done so in the traditional Simpson family creepy way: by talking about how sexy Jessica is.

The Simpson ladies have been through their fair share of ups and downs this past year, but one thing they can always rely on? Each other. In fact, Ashlee, who’s reportedly set to make her Broadway debut as Chicago’s Roxy this December following the wrap of her role on Melrose Place, is defending her big sis in the December issue of Women’s Health. “My sister has an incredible body. I feel sorry for anyone who would judge her, because she’s one sexy lady,” the actress, 25, says of Jessica, who’s made headlines for her weight fluctuation. “It’s disgusting that people would say those things.”

Jessica, 29, meanwhile, already returned the favor earlier this month, when she bashed the writers on her sister’s former show. “CW catching up on MP. Who writes this crap? i have had bad scripts to work with, but this? thank God my sister is amazing and got you some press,” she Tweeted.

Simpson-Wentz tells the magazine that even sudden career shifts don’t get her down anymore, especially now that her family is priority. “[Being married] made me able to share more,” she says. “Now Pete and Bronx come first. It has humbled me.”

And, as for her own body image, Simpson-Wentz adds the only person she wants to look good for is herself – and her husband, of course. “Pete isn’t worried about stretch marks,” the mother of 1-year-old Bronx says. “He always makes me feel sexy… There’s gonna be a time when I’m way curvier, and that’ll be sexy too. What defines sexy is not someone’s weight. Personally I like curves.

I gotta tell you, while I’d appreciate the support, if my family members were constantly talking about how sexy I am (undeniably true) and how hot my body is, I’d be super skeeved out by this point. I realize it’s the Simpson way to make someone feel like they have value, but damn. In Jessica’s case it’s probably the right route – what else are they going to say, “You’re brilliant!”? And regardless of who it’s coming from, Ashlee’s right – Jessica does have a beautiful body, at any weight. Sometimes she picks some bad outfits that don’t flatter her. But even when she’s heavier, she’s still better looking than 9/10ths of the people you see walking down the street.

As People mentioned, Ashlee is definitely on as Roxy Hart in the Broadway version of “Chicago.” She’s done the role before, in London’s West End version. I’ve got to give her credit – she just keeps plugging away, and doesn’t let the “Melrose” firing become a debacle.

I like this post.Jessica is beautiful although not the brightest. For people to call her fat is a shame for all women. No wonder Liz Hurley is on a diet of coffee, vodka, and 1 meal a day.The camera makes you look bigger.I’m sure Jessica at her heaviest isnt heavy at all.

I didn’t find Ashlee’s comments skeevy, not at all like her Dad’s. I think this is a very sweet supportive thing to say.

Otherwise, totally agree, and I think Jess looks better with a bit of extra.

I don’t care if Simpson isn’t smart or whatever. She seems like a nice person, which in this world, is a rarity today.

People need to worry less about her weight and worry about their own if weight is so bloody important.

She looks fine and her sister is right, the comments are disgusting, and boring.

People bitch at others for being too thin, too fat. No wonder women and their self images are so effed up these days.

Eat if you want to, don’t if you want to. Be skinny be fat, as long as you are happy, who cares.

Jessica has made it a career to be “hot”. That is not smart because at some point you will get fat and wrinkled. When you set such a high standard for yourself and others it leaves you open to backlash. Look at Pamela Anderson exhibit A. We can’t wait to say how harsh she looks now. I don’t buy Jessica’s “harmless” facade either. She uses that ignorant, harmless blond bimbo routine to get over.

I think Jessica looks like a girl I’d go to a bar with. Have some beer and fried zuchinni, dance a little. Go home, order pizza at 2am and gossip about boys with.
Someone fun. Who has a life. Who enjoys it.

Much more interesting than hanging out with someone who “would drink but there’s so many calories” (ooooh…fun) or “would enjoy the cake, but I shouldn’t.” I’m bored just writing about such a person.

Most of us will get fat and old. All of us have an experation date…basically I’m saying those sandwiches are not going to eat themselves.

  6. WTF?!? says:

Ashlee needs to enter rehab for her eating disorders. She came to J’s defense, but she would KILL herself if she put on that much weight.

  7. sammy says:

Ok, let’s be real- Jessica is fat and stupid. Enough said.

  8. la chica says:

talk about damning with praise. how does this help Jessica other than remind everyone how fat she is?

  9. Kylie says:

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. Its so refreshing to read something a little positive on this site.
I really like Jessica. I think she would be a great, fun and loyal friend to have.. People need to leave her alone..
Sammy – go over to Perez Hiltons site.. That seems to be more your style.

  10. Ana says:

……says the girl who lost a ton of weight and got multiple plastic surgeries.

There are rumors going around that Ashlee uses coke to stay skinny and an IV diet. But of course…those are just rumors.

  11. Christie says:

Jessica is a beautiful girl and I admire Ashley for defending her. I bet most if not all of the creeps writing this mean stuff about Jessica while hiding behind their keyboards only wish they could look as great as she does.

  12. Buzzaroo says:

    I think Jessica looks hot!

And I think Ashlee was just talking in a sisterly fashion, nothing weird about that.

It’s so nice to see these sister’s sticking up for each other.

Excellent post. If you genuinely take care of yourself, you can look good, but the thing with Jessica is that she’s in the entertainment industry, not in rocket science where looks are secondary. In the industry she’s in, she’s not being paid to use her brain, but looks. Same with every actress.
