Kristen Stewart: “I’m usually in movies people don’t see”

Here is Kristen Stewart on the Today Show this morning, promoting New Moon. Meredith Viera says that Kristen is “under the weather” for the interview, and she seems it. Kristen is kind of hunched over and her voice sounds raspy. Of course, it could just be that she’s jet-lagged, tired, and it’s really f-cking early in the morning. Plus, they made Kristen do the gauntlet of crazy interviews, and she’s sitting there with Viera, Matt Lauer, Ann Curry and Al Roker. You’d think that Kristen wouldn’t be able to get a word in edgewise, but there’s an eerie silence in the studio when she speaks.

I do have to give her credit, though. Kristen has learned how to be gracious in interviews, even when she’s asked uncomfortable questions. When asked about what it’s like for her being in such a huge series, Kristen jokes: “I’m usually in movies people don’t see…this is once-in-a-lifetime. We make movies for people. I’ll never have this.” She also gives a pretty good explanation for why the werewolves are always shirtless: “They have a good reason. They run at 109 degrees… When they turn, their clothes fall off. It’s not just because they look good with their shirts off!” The Today people didn’t ask her the usual litany of questions about Robert Pattinson. Thank God.

Kristen has one more interesting quote from Reuters: “Bella has a lot of really innate female qualities. For a character in literature, I think it’s awesome that so many girls can look up to her, because she’s fickle and unabashedly (so).” How girly. How unlike Kristen.

Kristen and Robert Pattinson predictably made the cover of OK! Magazine this week with the words “I’ll Love Him Forever!” as the headline. The magazine promises to go inside “their love story” but the cover story excerpt isn’t anything special: “Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart greet fans in the most romantic cities, celebrating their love publicly for the first time. Read on to get a timeline of their love story – including photos of the two meeting each other’s parents and holding hands in Paris.” Barf.

  1. that was a good interview. I liked that the hosts didnt hound her with unneccesary bs.

  2. God, Kristen Stewart is just so awkward and dull to watch, she needs to put more effort on how she comes across in public appearances and be more secure in herself, she seemed slightly more enthusiastic when she was talking about The Runaways movie though. On another note, her shoes are gorgeous.

  3. I just looked her up - I didn’t realize she’d been in so many films, I thought this was sort of her first role. Kind of explains why the insta-fame is bothering her, if she’s been able to work all this time without it.
I did read the books (but I’m sick to death of the movie stuff) - I’ll never get on board with Bella being someone to look up to.

  4. Pretty much, word for word, the same interview she gave on Regis and Kelly this morning. Same questions, same answers….she even said the whole ” movies people don’t see, ” thing.

I think part of why she looks bored is because she is bored.

  5. I agree she is a bit ott with the low key awkward thing, but heck she is still just a teenager. It works for Twilight, I even liked her in Adventureland, but she will need to develop something more eventually if she is going to grow as an actress.

  6. @lucy2 I agree. Bella will never be a role model.

    I like her (Kristen) anyway.

  7. I just googled Kristen Stewart to find her IMDB profile, and the third most popular search was “Kristen Stewart Pregnant”. What the heck? Twihards are so weird.

  10. I’m just sick of the whole team edward/jacob thing!! Interviewers need to read the 3rd and 4th book and quit asking Ms. Stewart whether she’s team edward/jacob. Not only the media, but the book/movie’s fans need to get a clue and quit acting 5.

  12. @Chris: My guess is that yellow teeth and bloodshot eyes don’t sell magazines. Photoshop is marvellous, isn’t it? :D
