Amy Adams is expecting her first child (update: video)

81st Academy Awards in Hollywood
Lovely Oscar-nominated actress Amy Adams, 35, is expecting her first child with fiance Darren Legallo. Amy told Allure Magazine this July that Darren was ready to get married and have kids but that she was content to focus on her career “I think he was patient for the first nine months, but that we have been engaged for a year, he’s sort of, you know, ‘This is going to happen, right?’ He understands I’m busy but he’s ready. He’s much more ready for kids and stuff than I am.”

It looks like Amy and Darren are going to start their family soon. People Magazine is reporting that she’s pregnant. Does this mean that she’ll get married before the baby comes?

Amy Adams and fiancé Darren Legallo are expecting their first child together, PEOPLE has learned exclusively.

The couple, who have been together seven years, met in acting class in 2001 and became engaged in July 2008.

Adams, 35, will next be seen in the romantic comedy, Leap Year, which hits theaters on Jan. 8.

I love Amy Adams and really admire how professional and hard working she is. She’s not controversial and has a low-key personal life so we hardly hear about her at all. She shows up when she has something to promote and is kind of a breath of fresh air in Hollywood. I find her very normal, genuine and likable, and yet she’s so glamorous on the red carpet. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a paparazzi photo of her that wasn’t taken on set, but I did a quick search and she was photographed outside Barney’s shopping once a year ago and then out getting ice cream with Darren in June. She looked pretty annoyed to be photographed. Somehow I doubt we’ll be seeing a glossy magazine spread of her with her new baby. Congratulations to Amy and Darren on their happy news!

Update: Here’s a cute video of Amy talking to Entertainment Tonight about her pregnancy. She says that she wants to find out the sex of the baby so that she can prepare.

I like her, I think she’s a good actress. I just saw some older movie where she was blonde, and the red hair really suits her better. Loved her in Enchanted.

@Jess – Tiger Woods married Elin before they had their children. What difference does it make anymore? She found a man who was more than ready to be her husband and father her children. Surely, this should be enough to satisfy the tradionalists. As y’all can see, tradition ain’t what it used to be anymore.

To add on to what Karen said, these two people have been together for SEVEN YEARS. How on earth is a piece of paper calling them married going to change anything for them, aside from being able to say they’re married?

  8. Ally says:

Wow, kudos for taking care of her fair skin. I totally thought she was 25 tops! Thirty-five is a good age for a woman to have kids, hopefully she doesn’t lose any really good parts she was up for.

So, being married takes her focus off her career but having a baby is no big deal? I don’t get it. Isn’t her thought process a bit screwed up? Heaven help her child…

Glad they’ve been together 7 years so it’s likely not a shotgun wedding, still wish they’d tied the knot before having a kid though.
