CNN’s Showbiz Tonight had a pretty funny segment (above) ranking the most toxic bachelors of 2009. Jon Gosselin ranked highest, with Levi Johnston, John Mayer and Bobby Brown coming in close behind. It’s a shame that Tiger isn’t divorced yet, because he makes Gosselin look like the clumsiest of amateur philanderers. Runner-ups include Chris Brown and Jude Law. Host Brooke Anderson points out that while some may name Kaiser’s favorites Gerard Butler and George Clooney among the most toxic bachelors, they may get around but are not, in fact “toxic.”

The most toxic bachelor of 2009 has to be Jon Gosselin, mainly because he was going out and gallivanting with pretty much with anything with ****.

It seems like CNN’s criteria for toxic involves the level to which the bachelor makes an ass out of himself in public, not necessarily the amount of women he runs around with. All of those men qualify and I’m sure we can come up with more.
In related Jon Gosselin news, his ex “soulmate,” Hailey Glassman, tweets that her New Year’s resolution is to get Jon “out of my life” and to move out of their shared New York apartment. It’s doubtful that Jon can afford it without her. Last week’s National Enquirer reported that he borrowed $90,000 out of her life savings and wants to pay her back on an “installment plan.” It’s going to take him a while. He’s responsible for over five figures a month in child support and has been legally barred from earning money from public appearances. Jon recently tried to trade in his 2005 BMW for some cash and a Subaru, but got denied by the dealer. What a shame.

I totally agree that Jon Gosselin should be number one on the toxic bachelor list. John Mayer seems like a better number two than Levi Johnston, who is, after all, only starting to get his feet wet in the massive pond that is douchebaggery. Mayer’s been swimming in it for awhile now. Although, to Mayer’s benefit, he hasn’t fathered a child out of wedlock (that we know of) and then accepted money from anyone willing to pay him, a la Jon and Levi.

I think next year Jon Gosselin’s going to kill himself. I mean really, wtf else is he going to do? There’s no way he can ever redeem himself in the public eye, and it’s not like he’s going to be doing anything to make money because he’s a lazy asshole. He’s owes SO much money. I forsee him having one last hookers-and-blow party in Vegas or something, and then his body gets discovered in the bathtub of a seedy motel the next morning.

“Showbiz Tonight” has been obsessively doing stories about Gosselin and Levi Johnston all year and was looking for reasons to do more. Gosselin, having been married before, isn’t a bachelor and Johnston, being as young as he is and only having one girlfriend, is hardly fit for the list either.
Clooney has been married before and therefore not a bachelor. Regardless, “Showbiz Tonight” will never say a bad word about Clooney no matter what he says or does. He’s treated like the golden god who can do no wrong over there. I’ll bet Clooney’s long list of dumped girlfriends would consider Mr. Love’em and Leave’em a pretty toxic human being.

I don’t know if Clooney is toxic, but he’s a chump. If he’s honest with the women that he’s not going to settle down, then he’s doing the right thing. But, honestly, at this point, any woman has to know she’s a short-term lover.
As for Jon Gosselin, boy is he in a hole. I hope his year of amateur debauchery was worth it — he’ll be paying for it forever.
John Mayer is toxic, but he seems like he means well. I think he just needs alot of therapy.
And Levi J? The kid is just looking for a way to make child support payments, but he’s so misguided.

I think this list is pretty funny, and I’d include Clooney and Butler.
But, I think to be fair there should also be a “toxic batchelorette” list, i.e. the woman who expects men to pay for her, who doesn’t develop a job or career, who doesn’t make room for a man to have an equal role as a parent, and who uses her sexuality passively, aggressively or dishonestly.

They need to put a mortatorium on the Gosselin reporting for 2010. Now that they are divorced and no longer on tv, they are no longer reality stars and the tabloids shouldn’t waste time on those two. All the time spent covering the Gosselins I’m sure a lot of gossip like the Sarandon split went under the radar, due to tabloid negligence.

I don’t think the toxic bachelor list has as much to do with how long-term the relationship is expected to run, as much as it deals with shattered expectations and lack of respect.
If you mess around with Clooney and Butler, you can expect a good time but not a lifetime commitment. Which is fine for certain periods in your lifetime.
Trying to make money off your connection in my humble opinion, is much worse i.e. Gosselin and Levi Johnstone.
John Mayer is just sleezy. If you hook up with him, expect him to use your fame for p.r. purposes.
However, Chris Brown fits the toxic description to a tee. I think he should sit at the top, for quite some time.
