Sophia Loren channels Big Bird

Premiere of the film 'Nine' in Rome

This is Sophia Loren at a Rome screening of Nine… oh, Sophia. You crazy bitch. Bless her heart, though, because how many of us are still going to be kicking it, Seasame Street-style, when we’re her age? She’s 75 years old and fabulous. Here’s what I wonder… did Sophia pick this coat for herself, or did some stylist choose it for her? I can just imagine that conversation, “Sophia, darling, bella, you just must wear this fabulous coat, for yellow is your color!” Beyond the coat, the dress isn’t terrible. Sophia seems kind of stuck in the ‘80s, right?

Sophia’s son Edoardo Ponti was his mom’s date for the premiere, and I’m finding an attraction to him. I usually don’t care much about bald men, but he’s kind of hot. I wonder if Edoardo will be Sophia’s date to the Golden Globes on Sunday? She’s presenting, you know. I wonder if we can expect more feathers and diamonds?

Sophia is beautiful even in rags. Yes Kaiser, i think 70’s/80’s fashion is still stuck on her. I wish i could look like that in my 50s.

  2. joe says:

How can she do that? She looks great.

  3. K says:

    She is FABULOUS!

  4. LolaBella says:

She’s a beautiful woman, but her glasses detract from that in all her photos! LOL.

Meh, she could dress like Big Bird and still outshine someone like Nicole Kidman on the red carpet.

    Yeah. I said it.

  5. chikkietwo says:

She’s keepin’ it old school 🙂

  6. KLO says:

    She’s awesome. Nuff said.

  7. bite me says:

    so pretty

  8. MymaJane says:

She always wears the most horrid eye glasses! GAH!!

    And I prefer Helen Mirren.

  9. Sumodo says:

At least she doesn’t sponge off of designers, she goes to her own closet.

  10. Firestarter says:

Still a beauty, and she can even pull off maribou (sp?).

  11. Risa says:

Is it just me, or do her glasses have half-n-half green/rose tint to them?!

  12. SammyHammy says:

It doesn’t matter what she wears. She can make anything look good!

  13. Pont Neuf says:

Sophia is, indubitably, a very beautiful woman, but she can’t shake off her VERY vulgar origins. Most of the time, she just looks like a tarted up brothel madam.

She was never a great actress but, since she married her sugar daddy… I mean, the love of her life Carlo Ponti, she has always avoided scandals, which is good.

Anyway, I used to like her a lot more before I came to know that her family has strong ties with Italian Fascism and the Mussolini family. I wonder why she hasn’t taken her niece Alessandra Mussolini anywhere, to scream like an angry market vendor against blacks, Gypsies, left-wing people and homosexuals?

    Meh. Tatty, vulgar people.

Holding it down for the redheads and the Italians!! 75!!!

  15. Solveig says:

“I tawt I taw a puddy tat!” said Sophia.

  16. Raven says:

She’s lovely and talented. She easily looks 20 years younger than she is.

  17. lei says:

She looks her age! Jesus Christ people. She really doesn’t look that great.

  18. Mando says:

It’s funny you all are talking about her glasses. It’s probably a misguided attempt to promote the line of frames (in her name) that Walmart Vision Centers carry.

  19. tey says:

    i like sophia loren.

she was undoubtedly the most beautiful woman on the planet when i was growing up. she still looks terrific.

she has a great spirit — time can’t take that away from her.

  20. andrea says:

her glasses are her *signature*, dahlings. one of them, anyway.

  21. rundee says:

I don´t think she looks that great, her face looks tucked back, like one facelift too many.
But off course she used to be one of the most beautiful women back in the 50s and 60s.
