Angelina Jolie visits Haitian earthquake survivors

wenn192486

Is this why Angelina flew into Miami solo? So she could jet off from Miami to the Dominican Republic? Maybe. So it seems that right after Brangelina’s PDA-filled Super Bowl, Angelina jetted off to the Dominican Republic to visit with some Haitian refugees, survivors of the January 12 earthquake. According to the Associated Press/Huffington Post, Angelina spent Monday at the Dario Contrera Hospital speaking with several patients. Angelina released a statement about her trip, saying: “”It is incredibly horrible to see a catastrophe of this size hit a people who have been suffering from extreme poverty, violence and unrest for so many decades.” Jolie was accompanied by Gonzalo Vargas Llosa, a representative of the United Nations High Commission on Refugees (of which Angelina is special goodwill ambassador):

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic — Hollywood star Angelina Jolie has met with hospitalized Haitian earthquake victims in the Dominican Republic.

Dario Manon is a spokesman for the Dario Contrera Hospital in the capital of Santo Domingo, where dozens of survivors of the Jan. 12 earthquake in neighboring Haiti are receiving medical help.

Manon says Jolie toured the hospital Monday and spoke with several patients. He told reporters: “She spoke with several children and a Haitian woman who recognized her and requested help.”

The actress was accompanied by Gonzalo Vargas Llosa, a representative of the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees and the son of Peruvian writer Mario Vargas Llosa.

Jolie is a goodwill ambassador for the U.N. refugee agency.

[From Huffington Post]

There are a few photos from the trip, but it doesn’t look like many agencies were alerted ahead of time. I found one photo from Angelina’s trip, here. It sounds like Angelina didn’t spend the night in the Dominican Republic, she probably left the same day she came in. Which some people will complain about, but I can see how she probably didn’t want to take any resources that should be used for refugees (bed, blankets, water, et cetera). And hey, at least she wasn’t there to deliver the word of Xenu, you know?

To donate to the UNHCR – who lost several staffers in the Haitian earthquake – go here.

UPDATE: Maybe she did spend the night? I guess. And she’s in Haiti now? Sure. Here are a few more photos of Angelina traveling through the area. And here are even more.

  1. bite me says:

wrong she spent the night and will be going to Haiti today, and there are pictures, one with the president of the DR and another one with her meeting with some of the doctors

  2. sayrah says:

And how will her detractors make this look bad?

  3. Praise St. Angie! says:

that’s a nice thing for her to do.

    but girlfriend needs some chapstick.

  4. gloaming says:

    I think bite me’s correct.
    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-1249308/Brad-Pitt-Angelina-Jolie-togetherness-join-celebrities-Super-Bowl.html

Good for her anyway! I’m sure she’ll go back when the media at large stops reporting on this tragedy- the same way she has in New Orleans and elsewhere.

  5. Mimi says:

@bite me u are right and one more thing the JP Fans when they saw the photo of Angelina at the airport already commented that she probably would be coming from some mission to UN and this was before the experts in the media finally realize this. Is very interesting that the fans of Angelina are 99% of the time certain and the rest of the media and haters only speculate and in 99.99% of the time they are wrong

  6. KIKI says:

What exactly is she doing there? Touring the hospitals? I guess that helps…….

  7. Essie says:

Yes, Kiki, touring the hospital does help. It shows the patients that people care about them. Angelina also met with the President of the Dominican Republic and spoke to him in her capacity of Ambassador for the UNHCR. She will now go to Haiti to see the children in the SOS Children’s Village and bring attention once again to Haiti, since the media has begun to put Haiti on the back pages again.

You and others can be as sarcastic as you want to be but it is difficult to deny that Angelina is doing a good job working with the UNHCR and bringing attention to the plight of the poor people around the world, especially children.

  8. Guest says:

I know that most people here hate Ian and I understand why – the guy is really far out alot. However on Sunday long before Angie was seen at the game he posted this.

“The world’s paps will be waiting for Angie in a couple of hours when she touches down in Miami. Angie is on a flight right now…she’ll arrive after the big game has started. Meanwhile, Brad arrived yesterday with Maddox and will attend the big game. Will she head to the stadium for another photo opportunity for the glorious pair???? Sources told IUC they will not leave Miami together. Angie will be en route to Haiti. A source told IUC the couple is not getting back together. “They’re trying to do as much damage control as possible,” the source said. Never a dull moment”

Seems that he must have some kind of insider. He knew all about the visit to Maimi and then the visit to Haiti.

  9. nikki says:

i’m going to be a bitch here but i’m confident the haïtian people may say “cool,i saw Angelina Jolie but where am i going to sleep this night? when could i eat?” .

  10. Beth says:

Why is it that when other celebrities go to crisis stricken places just to meet with people, take a tour everybody applauds them but when Angelina does the same thing, people express nothing but hate and say she’s not doing anything?

Also why is Kaiser so hung up on why they went to the Superbowl seperately? I don’t see why it’s so scandelous.

  11. bite me says:

guest and so did some fans on another gossip site

  12. The Queen Bee says:

Do we really have to suffer through Ian-Hackpern-knows-all comments? Cite a reasonable source and someone may actually listen to you. They are together, we all saw the pictures, get over it already.

  13. Rosalee says:

@nikki, I agree, what would be the reason to fly there, how many Haitian earthquake survivors would know who she is? I doubt they would care who the beautiful woman is by their bedside. They would be far focused and grief stricken over the loss of their family members, friends, homes etc. Beth, there is enough problems providing clean drinking water and ensuring desperately needed medical supplies and personnel are getting into the country. A beautiful actress I think would be very low on the priority scale, despite her good intentions.

  14. tiki says:

jen is in mexico on a ‘birthday getaway’ (getaway from WHAT, pray tell?) while angie is in haiti. team angelina all the way.

  15. Bodhi says:

    3…2…1… backlash…

  16. Guest says:

I have no problem with Angie going to Haiti. Am hoping that she doesn’t use resouces from the government – like soldiers – and uses her own body guards. However, it does seem that she goes to the the “it” places at the time. In this case her going will not bring more attention to the people – this is known worldwide with huge support and everyon is watching already. What I would love to see her do is to re-visit places she has already been and give us reports on how the money that was sent over helped. For example her and Brad went to Pakistan about four years ago? What ever happened there? What ever happened to the millions of dollars given after the tsunami. I would love follow up on that and a report. Going to the most recent disaster when the world already knows about it and is getting reports every hour on the hour doesn’t really bring more awareness. My guess is that alot of these people will not know Angelina and it would be the same as if you or I met them.

With that said I also don’t think that it hurts to visit. However I think that both American government and the American people have given alot – how much more can they give when the US has homeless and health care challenges? If America continues to give so much and not support its own country it will stop being the strong nation it is.

  17. Guest says:

And please can we have one post without Jen being mentioned. I say lets not mention Jen in an Angie post and not mention Angie in a Jen post. Really these two have nothing in common except Brad.

  18. KIKI says:

Bravo, guest! That is what I think about this trip to Haiti. I am not sure what it is accomplishing, other than more media buzz for her.

  19. bros says:

    Tiki: exactly.

jen just needed some ‘me’ time. ahahahah.

she thinks she is helping out mexico: quote from JA explaining her organizing gerard’s birthday.:

“He said to me, ‘You come to Mexico all the time and Mexico is really hurting right now because of the swine flu and the drug trafficking and all of this sort of stuff but it’s not all of Mexico,'” explained Aniston. “These people survive on us coming down and spending money and coming here to these beautiful places.

“It sort of made sense to sort of say ‘Hey, let’s help out Mexico,'” continued Aniston. “Let’s shout out to these kids in Tijuana at El Faro and you know, have a big…that’s sort of our birthday celebration this year.”

her charity work consists of being waited on hand and foot in mexico.

  20. miranda says:

You’ve just lost your house, your livelihood and probably a few close relatives, so what you really need is the Grim Reaper standing at the foot of your bed. I work in a London hospital and the medical staff have been given strict instructions that, unless specifically requested to do so, they don’t go out there, due to the lack of resources and infrastructure. Good on her for giving a donation, but this visit smacks of the Iraqi photoshoots, in which she gets body armour and army protection whilst the poor refugees are starving for aid and attention.

  21. Iggles says:

Ugh. All these rumors are terrible. On one hand, I’d rather know what’s really going hand. But on the other hand, it’s really none of our business — it’s their lives.

Sigh. I want to know but then again it’s not fair to pry..

  22. Popcorny says:

Ian certainly knows a helluva lot more than anyone here.
    Why isn’t Ian being sued?
Btw, again, Angie wasn’t “teleported” to Haiti as she wasn’t to Miami. So glad she spent a few moments photo-op’ing with her (child) (there was only Maddox, right?) … truly heartwarming sh!t.
Pathetic hack spends most all her time “caring” for foreign children and making movies to “star” in -and not with the children she’s personally collected/amassed.
But do go on, pretend that those kids were waiting on that plane to Miami -or better yet, maybe they were waiting in Haiti! Maybe they were in her pocket all the time -and not with nannies and hired help (AGAIN).

  23. KIKI says:

I actually thought about booking a trip to Mexico to help out with their economy! It is a win-win work of charity! Now, if people medical personnel are being told to stay out of Haiti, and they can help, I have to wonder why Angie had to go when the resources are stretched to the limit.

  24. hatsumomo says:

Acually, Rosalee and Nikki, the Haitian people may be down but not out. they are pretty resilient people and do find joy and able to sing despite the fact alot of them lost family or limbs or both. You make it sound like EVERYBODY there is despondent but in reality as in right now, they still find a way to smile and have faith. Y’all prolly dont understand because its not in our culture to find happiness in a time of tragedy, but there it is.

  25. Rosalee says:

@hatsummomo, actually in my culture laughter and humour is prized. You should be at one of our funerals..but nevertheless I think if this tragic event occurred in my community I’d rather have a team of doctors and the Red Cross using the air space than a beautiful actress on a call of mercy..well maybe if she had a medical degree and a couple of cases of water in her over-sized Hermes purse.

  26. Mia says:

Angelina went as a representative of the UNCHR. I’m sure they took care of her security. So don’t worry that she’s taking something away from the Haitian people. She also took time to visit another of her charities, the SOS Children’s Village.

It makes sense to pop into Miami at the last minute as they have 5 other kids. She stayed with them until Sunday morning & flew in, so they wouldn’t be without both parents for more than 24 hours. I know that probably doesn’t make sense to those who see the evil in everything she does, but there you go.

  27. Praise St. Angie! says:

“Ian certainly knows a helluva lot more than anyone here.”

    To Popcorny:

actually, according to the Brange’s fans, THEY know the most out of anyone…I believe one of the bigger fans on here said “the fans of Angelina are 99% of the time certain and the rest of the media and haters only speculate and in 99.99% of the time they are wrong”

so, the fans are right 99% of the time on her whereabouts, plans, etc…

I find that kind of scary, because how could you know that unless you’re a stalker? Or, you go out of your way to search the media to track them?

I’m a HUGE Henry Rollins fan, but I don’t know his whereabouts 24/7 or every detail of his plans for the coming week.

I got no issue with the regular old fan…but some of these people take the word “fanatic” seriously…to the point of creepiness.

  28. Cheyenne says:

So the boo-hoo sisterhood comes on here and whines about Angie going to Haiti on another UNHCR mission while Jenny-poo lays around in Cabo with her ass in the air as per usual. Figures.

Maybe if Jenny acted as if she gave a shit about anything beside her hair and her body, I’d have more respect for her. Just saying.

  29. Beth says:

Rosalee, I don’t know why you responded to my post since you didn’t say why you only have a problem with Angelina doing humanitarian trips but not other celebrities.

Guest, Angelina went to Pakistan last year. She also visited Afganistan, Iraq, Ethiopia, and other countries more than once.

  30. Maleficent says:

@Cheyenne- I do not see you complaining about all the other celebrities who vacation, enjoy life and shop. Aniston is not the only person in Hollywood who is not running around in Haiti. Pick on some of the other non-caring celebs and be fair.

Oh wait, I forgot, Aniston committed the great sin of marrying Pitt when he asked her years ago, and should be criticized for that act for the rest of her natural life.

Grow up! Quit investing so much of your life in defending people you don’t know.

  31. Kim says:

If Ian has an inside source why didn’y he know they were meeting w/ British attorney to sue NOTW

  32. Rosalee says:

@Beth..I questioned non-essential personnel visiting countries in crisis and the value of an beautiful actress during this time..if you READ the post you would have noticed I did not mention ANGELINA. Get a grip.

  33. KIKI says:

Give it a rest! It was a photo op!

  34. SageAdvice says:

Why is ANYONE bringing up Jennifer Aniston in this post? This has nothing to do with her. Absolutely nothing.

Anyway, some people disagree with the idea of “goodwill ambassadors”. I am one of those people. I personally cannot stand seeing ANY celebrity in some African village standing around or playing with the children and then going back to their multi-million dollar lifestyle.

The only reason why people comment so much about Angelina doing it is because she’s the most visible one. She’s the only one who gets coverage on this site for her Goodwill missions. I’m guessing everyone else who does it isn’t as famous or this site doesn’t care about other celebs off doing goodwill work.

Personally, goodwill missions, to me, are a bunch of hogwash. Actors are just people who are good at pretending to be other, often fictional, people. That’s all.

I wouldn’t want some actress leaning over my bed when I was in pain, scrunching her face up like SHE’S about to cry over my pain. It’s a bunch of nonsense.

And don’t try to say “She’s bringing attention to the disaster”. The earthquake in Haiti has attracted the attention of every single world aid organization. There is no need for her to be there other than to make a nuisance of herself.

If it were me trapped in a disaster zone and some actress showed up to “tour the devastation”, I’d be pissed.

  35. Cheyenne says:

@Maleficient: Nice try, hon. Nobody is criticizing Jenny for marrying Brad Pitt. She married him. It didn’t work out. He bailed. That’s what YOU can’t forgive ANGIE for, for some crazy reason. It’s not like she knocked him upside the head and hauled him bodily away from poor Jenny. Anyway, the marriage is not the subject of this thread so why inject it here? The subject is Angie’s trip to Haiti and the Dominican Republic, and I find it interesting that the boo-hoo sisterhood is ready to rag on Angie for doing something constructive, while your idol indulges in her usual pastime of laying around on her ass in a bikini doing absolutely nothing. Does she give a damn about anything outside of herself? You tell me.

  36. bros says:

    sageadvice,

I think its perfectly reasonable people are going to bring up JA in this post, because the comparisons are too obvious. We have AJ working, and JA tanning, as usual, and posts about both on the same day, and both about CHARITY. so comparisons will be made.

  37. Mimi says:

@Praise St Angiel the fans don’t need stalk then… we just use COMMON SENSE something that most of u people that dislike her for numerous and ridiculous reasons don’t know how to use when the subject is Angelina, Brad or their kids.
People that dislike her or the media in general always is sarcastic about the reasons to whatever the family is doing meanwhile the fans goes to the obvious and most of the time is right and we CERTAINLY can’t say the same about it people and media.
That’s all don’t need a scientist a detective or a clairvoyant to see the obvious is just that we are not blinded by hate.

  38. Praise St. Angie! says:

“Does she give a damn about anything outside of herself?”

yup. and if you didn’t hate her so much, you’d stop ignoring all of the examples people have given of the time and money she donates.

but hey, if you want to know what she cares about other than herself, there are websites that list it.

    http://www.looktothestars.org/celebrity/92-jennifer-aniston

you know, you can be a charitable person and still be allowed to go on vacation whenever you want to.

  39. Praise St. Angie! says:

“COMMON SENSE” tells you where they are 24/7? and what their plans for the immediate future are? WOW…that’s impressive.*

    *please note sarcasm

and I’m not “blinded by hate”. if you actually read any of my posts regarding Jolie, you’d see that I don’t hate her.

but of course, a criticism of the bat-shit crazy fans leads to one of said fans thinking that it was a criticism of Jolie.

  40. SageAdvice says:

Chey: She’s not there merely tanning. She’s there for her birthday (which she’s entitled to celebrate regardless of what is going on in the world) and she’s there contributing to a charity that helps an orphanage. But I highly doubt you have any more respect for her.

Bros: it is not perfectly reasonable to bring her up in a post that has nothing to do with her just because there is something tangentially related in both stories.

  41. filthycute says:

Okay, I’ll detract: she’s shopping for a new baby.

  42. Kim says:

Do people criticize Drew Barrymore or Lucy Lui or Nicole Kidman when they do their UN trips?

  43. KIKI says:

    42.Kim:
February 9th, 2010 at 2:35 pm Do people criticize Drew Barrymore or Lucy Lui or Nicole Kidman when they do their UN trips?
    ____________

I think everyone knows that a tragic eathquake leveled Haiti. Why does she have to be there now? I just would like to know what is really being accomplished with her “UN mission”

  44. Anon says:

iac piggy knows because a life & style staff/stalker bought a 1st class ticket on Angelina’sflight from LA to Miami, took undercover pics of her and heard Angelina sayshe was on her way to the SB
and then to Haiti with the UN. iac piggy then lied about the rest as the JP family will all head to Europe soon for Angelina’s new film with JDepp. TheJPs are totally together . Hope iac piggy is sued next. LOL

  45. Kim says:

What did Lucy accomplish by visiting Pakistan after the earthquake? What is accomplished by any ambassador visiting any country to- publicize the plight. Most journalists have left Haiti in a couple weeks the international interest will have waned. I’m glad she waited a month before visiting to renew the interest

  46. SageAdvice says:

Kim: No one criticizes them because they aren’t on this site. If they were on this site, I’d comment about how they aren’t doing anything really. I think most people would.

But they aren’t here. How are you going to read comments criticizing them when they aren’t featured on the site?

  47. Anon says:

Purpose of unhcr goodwill amb is to bring attention to plight of and gather assistance for refugees related efforts. Angelina has done for over 10 years, she is dedicated. She pays her own way. She is also scheduled if possible to go to the SOS village which she and Brad support (Angelina for 6 years). She is the real deal. No amount of negative carping can alter the truth.

  48. Kim says:

Well the president of a Haiti children’s org. praised her for bringing attn to the needs of Haiti and the President of DR met w/ her

  49. SageAdvice says:

Of course the President of the Dominican Republic is going to be nice to her. He’d look like an a** if he was rude to a UN goodwill ambassador.

I’m just saying that Haiti is getting plenty of attention without her. Maybe if the help started falling off and no one was paying attention to it anymore, then her goodwill thing would be appropriate.

No one can say that Haiti hasn’t been getting enough attention nor that she needed to be there to bring attention to it.

The Superbowl had the Red Cross’s text Haiti number up and talked about how two of the players have ties to Haiti and were planning on heading out there some time this week to check on their families. Millions of people saw that.

There was even Haiti coverage during the pre-game nonsense. Don’t act like no one cares about Haiti and Angelina just HAD to go there to bring attention to the tragedy.

  50. lucy2 says:

I would assume UNHCR asked her to go and provided security or whatever else was needed.
The whole goodwill ambassador thing seems like it’s mostly publicity for the UNHCR and their programs, (and a little bit of good PR for the celeb). It is what it is. Anyone expecting an actor to solve poverty or stop war is looking in the wrong direction.

Ideally in Haiti, everyone would stay out of the way of doctors, nurses, relief workers and security personnel until things are better. But still, I’d rather see someone visit patients in the hospital rather than trying to force their crazy cult on them, or pretending to care so you don’t seem like such an a-hole (John Edwards).

  51. Bek says:

There are three types of people on this thread: The crazies who are fans of Brangie and refuse to see or hear negativity directed towards lord and lady lovely-beard, the anti’s who read too much into every muscle twitch and call a conspiracy, and the rest of us who find all of this really entertaining and predictable. If you actually were to step away from your own agenda, I think it would be easy to see a few things clearly:
    1. Jen Aniston has nothing to do with this post.
    2. There is no conspiracy in Jen’s going to Mexico.
    3. Angie Jolie seems like she wants to help people.
    4. Angie Jolie is a mere mortal who gains from these trips.
    5. ALL celebs are counseled to use charities for good PR. ALL celebs do. Jolie/Aniston/Barrymore/Kidman are not exceptions.
    6. ALL celebrities lead extravagant lifestyles and simply fly in to tear up, cry a bit, and ask regular folks to donate.
    7. It’s OK to feel that point 6 is quite hypocritical.
    8. It’s OK to root for your favorite celeb anyhow.
    9. It’s not OK to attack other posters or assume you know what they look like.

Anywho…I love this board for it’s drama and find more joy in it than I do the cinema. Congrats all for playing your parts well, you provide endless entertainment, and congrats to the few of you who are still able to use some logic. Now I’ll just sit back and wait for people to attack me or call me fat, dumb or single (as if that last is a bad thing. 1950’s, anyone?).

  52. Kim says:

Ok I get it Sageadvice the UN should get rid of the Goodwill Ambassador program or should they just get rid of her? BTW both Anderson Cooper and Kerry Sanders of NBC have said that most of the media have left Haiti and in a matter of weeks it will no longer be in the news. Angie waited a month to visit Haiti maybe she can return in 3-4 months when Haiti is no longer in the news at all.

  53. The Bobster says:

I guess Balloon Lips needs a new fashion accessory.

  54. mila says:

I agree with #51-it’s like a regular war here. and all in the name of some people who don’t even know we exist. so much hatred…it’s ridiculous!

  55. SageAdvice says:

Kim: I think the Goodwill Ambassador program is nonsensical and a waste of money and time. I don’t think they should have it at all.

Also, just because the American media have left does not mean they are no longer getting donations and it does not mean that people don’t care anymore. There will be plenty of Red Cross people and other organizations there for months after the media leaves.

By the way, it makes sense that the news outlets will have left in a few weeks. They chase breaking stories and report whatever is new, thus “news”.

We can give aid and assist them and such during the initial periods of devastation but after a few months they should start rebuilding their lives and we shouldn’t be there shoving our cameras in their faces and such. While it seems rather selfish, we have stuff going on in this country as well and we need to fund a lot of stuff here.

How can we be expected to help other people when we can’t help ourselves?

  56. lucy2 says:

@Bek, I LOVE your post, very well said.

and thank you for “lord and lady lovely-beard” I believe that’s how I will think of them from now on! 😀

  57. The Queen Bee says:

Partying in Mexico for charity is like helping out Colombian peasants by buying cocaine, or South East Asian child laborers by buying soccer balls, or really pouring my heart into thinking about Darfur.

  58. bros says:

    sageadvice,

the UNHCR goodwill ambassador program enlists VOLUNTEERS. they dont pay these people. it isnt a waste of money because they arent spending money on it. good grief-stop letting your blind hatred and xenophobia get in the way of facts. who are you to say haiti has been getting plenty of attention? on what criteria do you base this, and what makes you the final arbiter of when its appropriate for the world to turn away and get its fix of the next big thing?

  59. Cheyenne says:

@Sage & Praise: Oh goody-gumdrops, she actually contributed to a charity! Puh-leeze, she’s sitting on $110 million, it’s not like she can’t afford it. She doesn’t even have to make the effort to sign a check, her accountant does that for her. But does she ever actually get involved with the work the charity does, or does she just throw a check at them every once in a while?

Is there anything she cares passionately about? I mean, outside of making sure her hair and her body are in perfect condition? Anything at all?

Jeez Louise, no wonder Brad and every other guy she’s been with since him has bailed on her. When she’s not making a movie, all she does is lay around on her ass. She bores the guys to death.

  60. SageAdvice says:

Chey: She’s heavily involved with St. Judes Children’s Hospital. She just isn’t extremely open about it and doesn’t call attention to it. You’re just so determined to hate her that you can’t wrap your mind around the fact that she does plenty, just not in the public eye.

You have no idea how much she gives to charity and you have no idea who “signs her checks”. And she’s launching a doll, actually, ‘proceeds from sales of the doll benefit the Friends of El Faro organization, which raises funds to aid children at the Casa Hogar Sion orphanage in Tijuana, Mexico’-bit from Access Hollywood. She also visits children’s hospitals for St Judes. So yes, she does get involved and doesn’t just “throw a check at them every once in a while”.

And you don’t know how her past relationships have ended, so don’t presume anything.

  61. SageAdvice says:

bros: I never said I was the final arbiter of anything. My point was that people are eventually going to move on from this and we also need to get our sh*t together in the United States.

I base my idea that they’ve been getting plenty of attention on the fact that it’s all over tv-and not just in the news. There are scores of commercials and public service announcements about it.

You didn’t even have to watch tv-around where I live there are billboards up, businesses have Red Cross signs up about the dial Haiti thing. It’s obviously all over the internet.

You know it’s getting plenty of attention and money when the news stories start coming out about how people are sending too much stuff and not enough money and then when they start sending money that they don’t know how to get it all distributed properly and such.

I’m not saying that there should be a time table of when we should leave but the reality of the situation is that news stations chase news. Period. There is a lot going on in the world other than the disaster in Haiti. That deserves to be covered by media outlets as well. You can live in your dreamland where everything is fair, but it’s not in the real world.

  62. Cheyenne says:

Oh Sagie, please, you don’t even believe that yourself. How many times a year is she actually at that hospital? Playing with the kids? Talking to the staff about treatment? Stuff like that? Don’t start that “she does things quietly” bullshit. Anybody who drags Access Hollywood along to her birthday bash doesn’t do anything quietly, know what I’m saying?

  63. Kaiser says:

Sage, enough. You’re sitting on this thread just waiting to be enraged by the slightest little thing. Move on, please, or I will ban you.

Edit: Cheyenne – enough for you too. Both of you stop sitting on this thread, reporting on each other’s comments. It’s asinine.

At least she took a bath before she got her picture taken. The recent shots of her and Brad they both look so dirty, like they havent bathed in a while.

  65. lastwordlinda says:

Team Bek (#51). Hilarious. Thank you.

  66. whatever says:

@ Queen Bee who said: “Partying in Mexico for charity is like helping out Colombian peasants by buying cocaine, or South East Asian child laborers by buying soccer balls, or really pouring my heart into thinking about Darfur.”

Too funny! We should all be rich and party, right? And then call it charity. Aren’t we grand! heehee

  67. Shane Gentry says:

How many years of “breakup” stories do we have to read? She’s trying to help a very difficult problem and the “gossipocracy” is still talking about a years old breakup story. It’s ridiculous.

  68. Kelly says:

LOL, the serious makeup and humanitarian hairdo.
I don’t hate her, and she probably does get too much shit from freakophobes who can’t deal with the fact that’s she’s just not standard, but there’s something about the way she dresses for these occasions that makes me want to pat her on the head and give her a lollipop. Longest sentance ever, I know. You can still be a krazy sexpot while giving a shit about others, honest.

  69. crash2GO2 says:

Good for Angie going to Haiti.

Am I the only one who thinks those togtherness Superbowl photos look totally faked? Maybe it’s just because they know all eyes are on them, but their poses look forced, and there is no warmth.

    JMO.

  70. Solveig says:

Kudos to Bek (51), I couldn’t say it better.

And Angelina should comb her hair that way more often ’cause she looks almost cute and soft.

  71. Heaven-bound says:

    A Cheyenne:

JA has donated half a million dollars to Haiti and was in the George Cloony telethon. May I ask what have you done to help in Haiti? Do you volunteer in your community? What exactly is it that you do for the benefit of human kind? You have too much time on your hands it seems to be so interested in the life of JA. You don’t even know her it is crazy the way you hate her. She has an awesome body and is entitled to celebrate her Birthday were ever she pleases, frankly its none of your business how she conducts her life. Please do your self a favor and take care of your own life or try and get one, because you obliviously lack a productive one.

  72. justme says:

Is it odd she’s bringing a couple empty suitcases with her??

  73. Ursula says:

I called this. How predictable, she goes there for photo ops when people are suffering. I guess knowing that Angelina Jolene cares has made so many in Haiti feel better already.

I am surprised she did not shut down the country like she did when she went to ‘help’ Namibia. Oh and might I add that Namibia has made tremendous economic strides since Shiloh was born there.

  74. Amy says:

If I remember correctly, Angelina and Brad have been to Haiti prior to the earthquake. So I think Angelina is really committed to Haiti and its people.

  75. villedeville says:

She did not go to Haiti as Angelina Jolie. She is the UN Goodwill ambassador. As such, she is doing her duty: to spread goodwill. All previous UN Goodwill ambassadors have visited distraught areas before and were photographed doing so.

  76. Misty_* says:

    A message to haitian people:

I know you’ve been through hell lately and that’s just tragic. However, you don’t need to worry anymore, because Angelina Jolie just left her special seat in heaven (next to God and the Holy Spirit, of course!) to rescue all you from destruction and starvation. After all, with all those Xenu people (cough…John Travolta…cough) around the area, God felt that Haiti needed a true representant of Christian sainthood to neutralize all the evil. But don’t get too excited, though, because saints these days are not what they used to be. St.Angie, for instance, is fickle and after three seconds, she’ll be all like: “Haiti? Who cares about Haiti? I just need some cold Moet and Chandon when I’m back to L.A on my private jet. Of course, I can’t waste my movie star glamour in this “awful” place”. Sorry about that, guys. Maybe she’s not the one you should rely on.

  77. Liona says:

she wasn’t in Haiti! she was in the Dominican republic, jeez. i don’t think they would let her scummy but in haiti for her uselass photo ops.

  78. Liona says:

Chey blinded by the skank, they had to do a press junkett for the bounty hunter it fell on J’s b-day, she always spends her b-day in mexico, so the show agreed to film there, it is not like she brought the media to her birtday, your idol is the one who does that.
honestly old lady what has jen ever done other than marry brad??? Get off the poor girl, you infactuation with AJ and pitt is not healthy!!!!!

  79. Solveig says:

    I’ve just read this http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/35273773/ns/world_news-haiti_earthquake/

    and this

    http://www.pacificfreepress.com/news/1/5571-ratcheting-up-the-genocide-in-haiti-blocking-aid-delivery.html

    and this

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/cb_haiti_earthquake

It was predictable, but I hoped that it
wouldn’t happen again. I hoped that this time things would be better.
Such a shame that Haitians are still starving and suffering and the food and the supplies are just a hair’s breadth away.
Such a shame the betrayal of the people who donated and sacrificed part of their – some times – poor incomings for nothing. Nothing.

  80. bite me says:

oh really, that why there is exlcusive birthday pictures of jenny fab at 40 in people this week. any thanks for the al laughs all

  81. Cheyenne says:

@Solveig: I don’t think it’s willful mishandling of a crisis, but every time something like this happens it seems like deteriorating conditions are magnified by stupidity. And now they are refusing to bring injured children out of the country for badly needed medical treatment, because they are afraid of possible kidnap plots, thanks to those idiots who tried to sneak 33 children into the Dominican Republic for adoption in the U.S. A lot of those children weren’t even orphans.

  82. Kim says:
