He takes his sunglasses off, retreats to his hotel room, and then removes his shirt, reclining on the couch while the flashbulbs continue to go off, suggesting that he left the door open.

All I could think of when I saw the ending was the fact that it’s a cologne ad and that doesn’t jibe with McConaughey taking off his shirt. The guy admitted that he wouldn’t even wear natural deodorant when his co-star Kate Hudson asked him to, so must have to slather a lot of that stuff on to kill the stink. The ad goes from black and white to color when McConaughey’s shirt comes off. That must be when the scent hits the room.
