Rielle Hunter & John Edwards getting married is a “total fantasy”

gqrielle

This morning, the Today Show did a segment on the whole Rielle Hunter-John-Edwards-Elizabeth-Edwards situation, and it just keeps getting worse and worse. The piece included People Magazine finally-released online excerpts from their cover story this week, which included an interview with Elizabeth’s sister (who I think we can assume is pretty much speaking for Elizabeth). Basically, Elizabeth does think the whole situation is “disgusting” (the National Enquirer wins again) and Elizabeth is “moving on”. Today also had an exclusive statement from Rielle (you can see it in the video clip at the end of the post). Here are the basics from People:

Jaws dropped nationwide when Rielle Hunter’s provocative photo shoot and interview with GQ hit the Web Monday morning. But what did Elizabeth Edwards think when she saw it?

“She was disgusted by the photos like everyone. But she moved on pretty quickly,” a source close to her admits to PEOPLE in the issue set to hit newsstands Friday.

Determined to tune out the scandal and create a new life for herself, Elizabeth has taken up painting, is writing a new chapter for the summer release of the paperback edition of her 2009 Resilience, and is organizing a mother-daughter book club for her and Emma Claire, 11, her sister, Nancy Anania, tells PEOPLE. “She seems to be happy and at peace.”

Moving on. That’s also what John Edwards, her estranged husband and “Johnny” to former mistress Hunter, is trying to do, says a close friend of his.

The disgraced former presidential candidate, under grand jury investigation for possible misuse of campaign funds to pay Hunter, “is rebuilding his life, but separately” – from both Elizabeth and Hunter – and focusing on his children, says the friend. And, despite Hunter’s claim in the GQ interview that she and “Johnny” still “love each other very much and that hasn’t changed,” the friend of John’s says he’s only in touch with Hunter to check on Quinn, their 2-year-old daughter and that the notion that he and Hunter will wind up together is “total fantasy.”

[From People]

See, I don’t think it’s a “total fantasy” that Johnny and Rielle will get together and perhaps marry. I think Johnny will wait until Elizabeth dies… which I’m not sure how I feel about, other than “I hate him.” But Rielle’s statement to Today kind of makes it worse… she’s still talking about the GQ photos, and not the text of the interview. Idiot.

Yikes, just when I thought that face was gone from my view – it’s baaaaaack! Scarier than ever.

  2. Dorothy says:

I think he kinda has to marry her if he wants to be taken seriously at all. He can spin it as a true love story. I don’t even think he even likes her at this point though.

    TEAM ELIZABETH!!!

I hate that People keeps running these “how will Elizabeth live?!” covers. She’s a wonderful mother, does things she loves to do and seems to have put all this behind her for the most part, at least until crap like this comes up and everyone wants her opinion on it.

It’s demeaning too; by most accounts, she is a strong woman and it’s ridiculous that she’s always being defined by what her asshat of a husband and his trashy slutbag do.

  4. Marjalane says:

I think I read somewhere that “Johnny” and the skank have been out and about in NYC- maybe art exhibits or something. Sounds like he’s still into her. I’ve heard too many ugly things about Elizabeth Edwards personality to feel too sorry for her; The three of them are worthless blights on society and I hope someone is guiding the younger children….they’re going to grow up thinking it’s O.K. to be a cheating dirtbag. They’ll probably go into politics.

If she’s “moving on”-why keep talking to the press? Not that I don’t sympathize for what she’s gone through-but this was a woman who wanted her husband to continue his presidential campaign despite knowing he was having an affair.

  6. Constance says:

He won’t marry her in public. But I’m with kaiser on this one (as well). Rielle is NOT going to give up on Johhny-the-reputation-challenged. She’ll make his financial life HELL when Elizabeth dies to get him to marry her. It’s all self gratifying (and Trifling!).

Elizabeth will stay in the press because Rielle will. Elizabeth comes from strong Navy roots and English & Law degrees. She knows how powerful words are. She won’t be meekly and quiet with that whore running around blabbing to everyone who will listen.

  7. Rosanna says:

Eventually they will marry… I just hope JE doesn’t give in to EE need to sound like the victim and marries Rielle if he wants to do it.

  8. Cinderella says:

John can forget about politics. His looney-bin mistress can support him by reading palms or cards or whatever the hell she does.

  9. Wow says:

Yeah, pretty much what Kaiser said. I mean people felt that Charles and Camilla would never marry either. Yet we see how that turned out.

Riella de ville will have her “Johnny” and it will be after EE is no longer around, as sick as that sounds. But the joke will be on them if EE out lives them. I shouldn’t have typed that but you all know what I mean. We all think EE will pass first because of her cancer, but it would be funny if she lives longer that either of them.

Anyway, I’m glad she is moving on. That is the best way to deal with folks like that. Just leave them to it and keep it moving. If he wants to be with Rielle then so be it.

  10. Iggles says:

They will marry. They are the 21st century Charles and Camilla. Some twisted relationships just don’t make sense to anyone else..

  11. Constance says:

ugh Camilla. She is such a old bag. Even decades ago, I never understood the attraction. She is terribly unfortunate looking.

  12. lucy2 says:

I just figured it out – Rielle reminds me of Angela Bower on Who’s the Boss. All she needs are the big 80s glasses.

  13. danielle says:

I think Rielle’s appeal is that she lets him feel like he’s the boss, feeds his ego, and tell him nothing is his fault.

  14. gg says:

    Dumb bitch is still over-accessorized.

  15. Legend says:

Hunter AND the general public should not believe a word out of this guy’s mouth. It’s unbelievable he still thinks he has a political career.
