Carrie Underwood tells Allure: “I don’t do feelings, I’m not mushy”

allurecover

Carrie Underwood is the April cover girl for Allure Magazine (slideshow here). Personally, I’m not a huge fan of Carrie, but I don’t hate her either. I kind of respect her bitchiness about Tony Romo and Jessica Simpson, and I like that she’s not out there every week talking about her fiancée Mike Fisher. So, I see that there are good things about her, and I do think she’s pretty, although she’s pretty in a very “Mall Girls of the Deep South” kind of way. Like she’s runner-up at an Alabama county beauty pageant. That describes her style too – mall girl, beauty pageant, nothing of real fashion substance. But she strives to seem grounded, and it works on her:

When asked about the engagement ring that Ottawa Senators center Mike Fisher put on her finger last December, Carrie Underwood tells the latest issue of Allure Magazine the he “could’ve put a twisty-tie on my finger and that would’ve worked.”

In the issue, she also talks about her time on “American Idol” and the resulting fame; and she recently revealed that she gets offered alot of movie roles, but isn’t in any rush to cross over to acting.

“I get scripts in all the time,” she says. “It would really have to be the right thing. I’m not going to kid myself and pretend that I’m an actress, because I’m not, but if something ever came up that was just fun, something that it would be fun to look on when I’m older, I’d be into that.”

Despite her comment, Carrie recently made her acting debut on TV sitcom “How I Met Your Mother”.

Also, when Carrie talks about her most famous song, “Before He Cheats” she tells the magazine about her current happiness in her relationship, and how it affected her song writing, saying: “I think it’s a good thing. I have more happy songs. I’ve never really done a love song, I realized, until this album…. I don’t do feelings. I’m not a mushy person.” I could see that about her, that she’s not a “mushy” person. She’d just as soon shank her boyfriend as tell him “I love you.” Just my take!

She’s boring. Even here in South (TX to be exact) she looks like a clueless daddy’s girl who lives in the Galleria. But, we here would explain that by simply saying she’s from Oklahoma. Too much hair, way waaay too much makeup. She looks like her whole image was designed to use every “country” clique Hollywood/Nash-vegas could think of.

Her hair in that hay photo kind of looks a bit mullet-ish. Not good.
Beauty pageant is always what I think when I see her, and oddly enough it seems to be even more so since getting really famous.
I like her voice, but not a big fan of country music.

I know what she means, I hate mushiness and all that crap. It always just seems so contrived, phony and attention whorish to me. Besides, why would you WANT to be forever displaying your feelings to everyone? Nobody cares how you feel really, so why waste the time and energy just so you look like a needy, overemotional, out of control nutcase? It’s stupid. Have some pride, dammit! Wow, I can’t believe I actually agree with something that CARRIE UNDERWOOD said, has the world gone mad?

I really like this quote from Carrie in Allure:

“I think if anybody in my position felt like they deserved it, there’d be something wrong with them. Because going through Idol, just that process, going to Hollywood and seeing all those people, there were beautiful women who were talented, and for some reason or another, they didn’t make it and I did. I’m grateful, but I guess I’m a little guilty.”

I got the quote from here:

    http://ow.ly/16OPHc

It goes along with what you’re saying about Carrie being a grounded gal. I also like that about her.

Maybe it’s just me but I’ve always thought she had a valid reason for being bitchy about Tony Romo even though it wasn’t a good look for her.

Can I just remind you of something?

She gave the Tony Romo (“maybe he’ll call me, maybe I’ll answer”) interview after they broke up, but BEFORE he dated Jessica Simpson. It got published a few months later when was with Simpson.

It’s such a non-story and kinda lame that you still hold it against her!!

  9. Allison says:

Carrie is a beautiful, amazingly talented woman, and for you haters to trash her like you are in the comments just shows your own insecurity and jealousy. If you consider someone “boring” just because they are not out sleeping around smoking crack everyone night like Lindsey Lohan or the other hollywood skanks, then I would much prefer Carrie’s “boring” to your sluts.

As for being “mall girl pretty”, get over yourself! She is absolutely stunning, and most of the men in the world agree, along with some women too.

Carrie has a college degree, graduating magna cum laude. So before you trash her and call her a dumb country hick, get the facts straight haters!

  11. Alex says:

Carrie is stunningly beautiful, and a very nice person. She is not “mall girl pretty” but stunning, absolutely beautiful. The comments here that she is boring are ridiculous. Then again, I would rather be “boring” like Carrie but respectable, then entering rehab or sleeping around like all the other young Hollywood celebs. Bravo to Carrie for having more class, brains, beauty and talent in her little finger then most of young Hollywood these days.

I’m sorry, but the hay picture is terrible…other than she continues to do nothing for me. Don’t hate her, don’t love her…just don’t care to be honest.

  13. flutters says:

@Newton: Well I read it as Carrie saying she doesn’t think she’s anything special for having made it because she’s seen deserving people not make it and she doesn’t see herself as deserving (hence feeling guilty). Lots of people get full of themselves and think they’re all that because they’re successful but it seems like Carrie’s not buying into her hype. Sounds pretty grounded to me.

@Allison & Alex: If you ever read this site you’d know that Lindsay Lohan and Hollywood sluts are NOT this site’s definition of admirable. Maybe some people can’t get excited about Carrie as much because she’s a quiet one. I’ve got no problem with that – Carrie’s doing what’s right for her and she’s got lots of fans for it, and people not into that can find somebody else who’s more open. It’s all good.

I like her. I like her music. I think she’s pretty. I don’t care that she isn’t “interesting” to many. She is successful and there’s a reason for that. She appeals to many of us. I just think that there aren’t many country fans who read this site. That’s all.

Ok, she is cute – NOT stunningly beautiful! Agreed – the straw shot is nasty looking. I like her music (but I am a fan of alot of country music – not all, though.) I think I still like her – I used to alot but lately, I don’t know….she semms to be chaning a bit – maybe getting too full of herself. Or maybe it is just how they are promoting her.

  22. Patrice says:

Funny how she always CLAIMS this, yet all of the tabloids said that the reason Tony Romo and Chase Crawford both broke up with her were the same:

She is a whiny, clingy, needy, emotional mess of a girl who needs constant reassurance and attention.
I used to like Carrie when she first started out, but now all she seems to talk about is her freaking “food diary” and how much she spends on clothes.

I’ll always love her music, but I’m over her Hollywood transformation.

I’m sure Mike Fsiher wouldn’t have gotten engaged to her if she weren’t rich ,famous, beautiful, and under30…she is talented and pretty but relly has no substance….I’m sure this marriage won’t last once the novelty of it wears off…just look at other celeb marriages…and non-celeb marriages…

  25. Nancy Stephens says:

Anyway Carrie and Mike are just so different… he is quiet and private and desnt seem comfortable in the Hollywood scene at all.. and she has a big A-list lifestyle…. plus they live in different cities and hardly see each other…unless one of them releocates and they both are willing to compromise and put in REAL effort, hard work and substance, this marriage won’t last…I also couldnt stop laughing when she said Mike would love her if she weighed 800 pounds….I don’t think so!!!He wouldnt have looked twice at her if she didnt look like she did and had millions in the bank…

Saying she is boring doesn’t make anyone Jealous. It’s a freaking opinion and she is boring. Yes, she has a nice voice. Yes she’s pretty but I could care less about her. She has no spunk and she’s easily forgotten. Her songs all sound the same and there is nothing “amazing” about her. I can name a 100 artists that are so much better than her. She is way overrated and that is MY opinion. If you don’t agree then that’s fine. Enjoy her while she is still relevant.
