Sandra Bullock returns to LA, James’ ex encourages contact with Sunny

The story of Jesse James’ infidelity just gets worse with each passing day. As more women come forward, people are wondering what betrayed spouse Sandra Bullock is going to do next – and how much she knew about her husband’s activities. Many insiders who know the couple say that Sandra had no idea what James was up to. In fact, just days before the first story broke, Sandra and Jesse made a joint appearance at the Walmart corporate headquarters in Arkansas, and spectators say the couple was cracking jokes and behaving very lovingly with each other.

Meanwhile People claims that Sandra has been hiding out in Texas with her family since the scandal broke, and is completely devastated.

Stunned by revelations that her husband Jesse James cheated with tattoo model Michelle McGee, Bullock “needs time to grieve and process what has happened,” a close friend tells PEOPLE in its new cover story, on newsstands Friday.

The friend says Bullock, 45, learned of her husband’s betrayal just eight days after her triumphant March 7 Oscar win.

“Her family was everything to her,” adds the friend.

New reports say that Sandra has returned to Los Angeles, most likely to fulfill work obligations and possibly to check in on James’ children. James’ ex-wife, Janine Lindemulder, spoke to TMZ and said that she hopes her daughter, Sunny, can continue to have a relationship with Sandra, regardless of whether she stays married to James. I should also point out that in all the recent interview Lindemulder has given, never once does she say that she was still with Jesse James when Sandra and Jesse started dating, as many people have been claiming. In fact, Lindemulder said in her In Touch interview that not only were she and James separated when he met Bullock, but that he was sniffing around hoping for sex with Lindemulder after a few weeks of dating Bullock.

Janine James — the mother of Jesse’s daughter, Sunny — tells TMZ, “If Sandra decides to keep a relationship going with our daughter Sunny, I would in no way stop that.”

She added, “Sunny loves Sandy and vice versa. She’s welcome to be a part of every aspect of Sunny’s life.”

Despite the fact that Sandra ripped Janine in a legal move to obtain custody of Sunny last year, Janine seems to be grateful for everything Bullock did saying, “She has taken care of our daughter as if she was her own … she sacrificed much … and I will forever be indebted to her for that.”

[From TMZ]

While Radar is saying that Sandra is back in L.A., it’s not clear if she has returned to the home she shared with James and his children in Huntington Beach. By the way, here’s an interesting factoid about Huntington Beach: I lived there in the early 90s, and it was quite a hotbed for white supremacy organizations, especially “skinheads.” Given that James’ mistress Michelle “Bombshell” McGee is a known white supremist, this seems like an interesting coincidence, doesn’t it?

awwww, I love this classy and sweet Sandra. It is not easy to take care of another woman’s children. She is a blessing to womanhood.

  2. ElizabethM says:

Between the revelations of Jesse’s double life and this interview of Janine, it really makes me wonder just how much he lied about Janine to both Sandra and the court system.

Points to Janine for taking the high road regarding Sandra’s presence in Sunny’s life. I hope she really means it.

  3. Kaboom says:

Maybe she went down to Ciudad Juarez and bought herself a hit on the scumbag.

  4. waldemar says:

Sandra still has a house in L.A. she bought before the marriage. Maybe she is there?

    I hope Sandra is OK.

  5. Erin says:

Janine clearly has her issues, but she deserves major points for this. It cannot be easy to watch another woman raise your child while you can’t and she obviously loves her daughter.

  6. bodil says:

i’m so cynical that i’m thinking that all these nice words of from sunny’s mother right now is only because she realises that it can be very economically beneficial in the long run for her daughter (and thus for her) if sandra keeps on taking a big part and responsibility for the little girl.

  7. Sigh. says:

    bodil —

Cynical, but I doubt you are alone.

  8. flutters says:

    @bodil

ITA. I think Sandra’s going to be dealing with some money grubbing opportunists in any quest to try to see after her stepdaughter.

  9. Fluffy Kitten Tail says:

Doesn’t matter if Janine is scamming or not, it will only be of benefit to Sunny. Even if she is a con, let her be if her daughter can benefit from a stable woman in her life.

  10. Constance says:

I agree 6 & 7. Every day this gets depper, Janine speaks. Everyday this gets deeper, I KNOW Janine had something to do with the outing of the story or the arranged mistresses. It hasn’t been that long she she was getting dragged through the mud and she was NOT happy, Bob.

  11. Pete says:

Props to the little girl’s mother for doing this. Regardless of why she’s doing it, it’ll be in the best interest of the child.

I can’t imagine James not using the little girl for leverage in any upcoming divorce. He’s a bastard through and through.

  12. Mentok the Mind Taker says:

    TMZ’s now reporting mistress #3.

    What an @ss!

  13. lucy2 says:

I’m questioning her motives too, but agree that as long as the end result works out well for Sunny, that’s what’s most important.

  14. bodil says:

9 & 11, Agree, it doesn’t matter why she does it as long as sunny benefits from it and gets a more stable life. Seriously, speaking as someone who has a somewhat similiar back-ground (without the whole celeb thing of course), with two sleeze-bags as parents and that finally was adopted by a stable family relative, I seriously think they should just let Sandra adopt Sunny (and pay them off if necessary) and then they can have visitation rights, not the other way around. Sure a child has its right to its biological parents, but it is sometimes way overrated when there’s another option, such as adoption by a more stable loving third party, available. My five cents.

  15. anon says:

i think what the ex wife said is nice. whether it’s money for the kid or/and the relationship she has with sandra at least she’s actually thinking of the kid. unlike her scumbag ex husband. i hate this story because sandra seems so nice and has been my favourite actress since practical magic. however what is she doing carrying a child that big- am i the only one who thinks that’s really odd

  16. Kim says:

I just saw Sandra on the Insider commenting on Tiger and Elin back in Jan.Paraphrasing she said if she was Elin she would still be beating Tiger with the golf club(jokingly).I wonder what Jesse said when the Tiger incident happened? Did he badmouth Tiger or simply remain neutral. I noticed a lot woman I know claim they would leave their husband if he cheated yet they didn’t. Its complicated.

  17. lin234 says:

@ bodil- I was thinking the exact same thing! Sandra has been working steadily in Hollywood since her twenties (?). Even without her recent surge in popularity, she’s worth millions. Millions with no biological heir of her own… All the sudden this woman who seemed to hate Sandra up until this point encourages a relationship with her daughter? Just too fishy. Especially with all that potential money Sandra could give to the people she loves.

  18. JuiceinLA says:

I’m with Fluffy Kitteh Tail on this. And I think Sandra will also be, even if she knows the mother’s trash. Its all trash. Except Sandy and the Kids.

again, my heart just sinks for Sandra.

interesting about Huntington beach though- I am a transplant (circa 2005) so I had no idea!

  19. Brown Sugar says:

Everybody keeps talking about Sunny, but what about his other children? They matter just as much as Sunny

  20. bodil says:

@ 15. Regarding Sandra carrying Sunny (which she does in all pics I’ve seen), I see that as Sunny being a very needy child, for very apparent reasons. Perhaps very shy as well, with papz around?

@ 18: Yes ofcourse they do. Perhaps they have a more stable mum? Do they have the same mother and what’s they story with them? You’re right, one doesn’t hear so much about them, they must be suffering loads now too.

  21. Bodhi says:

I just have to point out that not all skinheads are white supremists. My husband was a skinhead in high school (he grew up outside of Boston, not that its relavant) & he has NEVER been a white supremist. EVER.

  22. snowball says:

Brown Sugar, their mom is much more stable, she seems very nice and she has primary custody. Plus the kids are older, I think 12 and 15. They haven’t been traumatized before all this and depended on Sandy the same way Sunny has. 🙁

I’m suspicious of Janine too, but I hope she’s serious. I saw some pictures of her with the Pig after this started to break and her face was red and her eyes swollen and she just looked miserable. Even I wanted to give the poor thing a hug. If Janine has any heart, she won’t just cut Sandy out of Sunny’s life entirely, suddenly, and she won’t make it so she has to go anywhere near the Pig to see her.

Of course, I don’t know if Janine even has anything to say about it right now. Jesse’s got full custody, Janine’s got nothing.

  23. jane says:

I think she should make a clean break with all of them. They all used her for their own selfish needs. There are plenty of children she can adopt, and she should find a nice man to settle down with; I sure she would have no trouble finding one. I never understood what she saw in this creep. The child is obviously needy from having such weird parents, but hopefully they will mature with time. There are a lot of kids out there that have it far worse than Sunny. It looks very strange that Sandra (who is tiny) is carrying her.

  24. Whatever says:

Those two losers should just sign custody of Sunny over to Sandra. Seriously, they are both a hot mess.

  25. Bonfire Beach says:

I think Sunny is 6. My daughter is 6 and she still wants me to carry her on occasion. There’s nothing wrong with it. Of course I can barely lift her now so I enjoy it while I still can. Hell, I wish I had someone to carry me around!

  26. lem says:

I’m back and forth on what and who I actually believe James did. However, I don’t trust the words of anyone that hires Alred– she’s Heidi Fliess in a suit and without the drug problem.

  27. jane says:

@ Bonfire – Actually, bonfire, I probably carried my youngest son a time or two when he was six. But he has muscular dystrophy. Also, I’m quite tall. I wasn’t implying there’s anything wrong with it when necessary, like if a kid falls down or something, but there have been a lot of pix of Sandy carrying this child around. As I mentioned above, she is tiny (I have seen her around Hollywood/LA many times) and in her mid-forties. Can’t be good for her back and neck.

  28. NJMDPS says:

The bottom line is Sunny is not her child. She is the child of Jesse and his (then) wife. Sandra has no claim. Jesse is scum. Sandra was duped. Probably the end……..depending if Sandra had the common sense and legal wisdom to sign the almighty prenup. Enough already.

  29. oh hey says:

    @bodil

I’ve heard of SHARPs (Skinheads against racial predudice) Was he one of them?

I heard that skinheads originally originated in the Carribean. Sounds like something was co-opted.

  30. Bodhi says:

@ oh hey – I think your comment was directed at me. Nope, he & his buddies wore big tall Doc’s & listened to ska & punk & all that loud Irish music (Flogging Molly, etc. I really like the Real Mackenzies!) & shaved their heads & ran around town being crazy.

  31. amanda says:

Really awesome for the baby’s mom to encourage Sandra to continue her involvement in the child’s life. If more people were like this!!! I hope for the child’s sake, Sandra is able to continue being in her life.

  32. Mistral says:

Looks like Janine has finally shown some brains and has hired a PR advisor. If she had said ANYTHING that wasn’t flattering about Sandra or conciliatory/sympathetic, she would have been ripped to shreds. So, she is doing the shrewd thing here–especially because she is trying to convince the courts that she has changed her ways/matured/knows what is best for her daughter. I think it is pretty obvious that losing custody of her daughter when she did, and for the reasons she did, was the best thing for the kid..

  33. Mistral says:

    To oh hey,

ya, that’s the term–SHARPs! I had forgotten what my skinhead acquaintance had said it was called when he gave me my “history lesson” on the skinhead subculture. It began in England, working class blokes who were into the Caribbean music scene/Ska scene that was brought to England/emerged with the huge influx of Jamaicans and other islanders into the UK…

  34. nnn says:

    #24

    I don’t think they should.

They are still their biological and legal parents and until that little girl doesn’t show any abuse from both parents it is criminal to suggest that her parents should relinquish their parental rights and give up on her. That can be even more traumatic for the child.

That child probably loves her mother, father and Sandra and perceives each roles very well : father, mother step-mother.

I really don’t know why people suggest to risk their emotional sanity because the parents have a nasty pedigree and behave wrongly towards each other. It should never automatically imply they should got deprived of their parental duties for another person.

Never underestimate a child natural inclination to her/his mother/father whatever the mother/father is scum. A mother giving up her rights just because someone is fitter should be the last resort and only if there are severe abuses done to the child. That mother should be assist not deprived. It is neither in the best interest of the child nor the mum.

Sandra should be granted some visitation rights as a step mother post divorce but certainly not being granted the legal parentage as the new mother.

  35. Kelaa Khaa says:

Bodil, thank you for bravely sharing your story. I can see that Sandra is a fighter, so this will be interesting.

  36. Erin says:

Good article…I never knew this about HB though. I am from there and lived there from around 1988 to 2007. Never once did I hear about this, and actually I felt the population was quite diverse.

  37. daisy la la says:

Mike Walker from National Enquirer reported this morning on Howard that there are in fact 11 girls. Enquirer knows all.

  38. Jag says:

I hope this is true. What sickens me about all of this is that allegedly everyone at Pig’s workplace knew that he was cheating on Sandra, and not one spoke to her about it. If a friend of mine was completely in love with a tool who was serially cheating on her – or even once – I would tell her. End of story. They are awful people and deserve what Pig is getting, too.

  39. ViktoryGIn says:

    @ 37

The problem is they were JESSE’S co-workers and friends, not Sandra’s. In these kinds of situations the majority and men don’t say shit, even if they don’t agree with the person’s actions. Too many men have a way of turning a blind eyes with this kind of behavior, perhaps because they, too, partake of of extramarital discretions. As a guy friend once said, “Never trust what the friends say. They will always make him look like better than he actually is.”

Apparently, a fourth one just came forward.

  40. CourageSandra says:

The second the tattoo’d skank came out to tell her story I knew more would follow. Jesse’s got a wonderful, beautiful woman who loved him with all his heart and he cheats with that??There are more. This man is a sex addict and im sure there’s all kinds of people ready to help HIM with his problem, but what about the wives of these men? There are resources available, but you have to look VERY hard to find them.

  41. MSat says:

Good point. If more people treated these all-to-willing “mistresses” with as much disdain as they treat the cheater, maybe these ho-bags would think twice before opening their legs to a married man. I don’t believe for a second that these women thought he was single. There are women out there who actively seek out married men because they get off on the thrill of “Stealing” them. Sick!
