Matt Damon will guest star on “30 Rock”

Tina Fey’s zany NBC comedy “30 Rock” has become a destination spot for A-listers, including Oprah Winfrey, Jennifer Aniston, Selma Hayek, Steve Martin and Jon Hamm. The latest Hollywood actor to join Tina, Alec and company, according to reports, will be Oscar-winner Matt Damon.

Spoiler Alert:

According to sources close to the show, the current plan is for Matt to be a love interest for Tina Fey!

That’s right, first Liz Lemon hooks up with Jon Hamm, then James Franco, then James Franco’s pillow and now this.

Though 30 Rock’s producers are still hammering out all the details, sources tell me NBC is hoping to get Matt on for multiple episodes. However, Matt is shooting another project this spring, so it all depends on Matt’s schedule and whether 30 Rock can be squeezed in. So at this point only one Damon-Lemon episode is guaranteed, but there may be more.

One thing is certain: Sarah Silverman is gonna be pissed.

[From Enterainment Weekly]

Damon might be best known for his tough guy role in the “Bourne Identity” films but he also has quite a knack for the comedic, as he showed in last year’s “The Informant!” and of course that Sarah Silverman video. I am looking forward to seeing what the writers at the show have cooked up for him. They did a nice job creating funny parts for Jennifer Aniston (as Alec Baldwin’s wacky love interest), and Steve Martin (a germaphobic millionaire with a thing for Tina Fey) so I hope they do the same for Damon.

Sidenote by Kaiser: Does anyone remember when Matt guested on Will & Grace? He was lovely on that show, and I’m really looking forward to this!

Matt Damon on Will & Grace was awesome- the straight guy pretending to be gay to tour Europe with the Gay Men’s Chorus.

  2. Brown Suga says:

Yes! Matt Damon on W&G was one of my favorite episodes. He was so funny so I know he would fit right in with 30 Rock

  3. Sumodo1 says:

    (Swoon) Matt Damon!

  4. Scout says:

    I just love Matt!

  5. Kimberly says:

Matt has been LONG overdue to be on 30 Rock .

He’s amazing , and looks brooding in those pics above .

  6. Jess says:

Should be the 2nd BEST EPISODE EVER! First place goes to James Franco!!!!!

  7. lucy2 says:

I remember Matt being hilarious on W&G. I think he’d do well on 30 Rock also. They do have a lot of guest stars, but use them really well.

I’ve never seen 30 Rock so I don’t understand the attraction movie people have to being on this show. And those you have mentioned are not all A-List, well known, but not A. (Oprah, yes; Selma, not so much.)

In my opinion, Matt Damon needs to watch what he does these days because his last THREE films have been total bombs!! He needs to work on his movie career and keep TV at a distance. Just my take.

  9. mslewis says:

And, yes he was hilarious on Will & Grace.

  10. Bek says:

I really loved Matt in Good Will Hunting. I don’t like him in most of his action movies, just because I feel guys and gals are interchangeable in those types of roles. Have to say though, after seeing that clip of him going ape-sh!t on Adrien Grennier (spelling?), I lost a lot of respect for him. And then there was the comment this last fall from Morgan Freeman about how Matt has a giant ego. Can’t say I’m all over that. Once they act like they’re above everybody else, it’s really easy to see their flaws.

Loved Matt in Green Zone, and Tina Fey rules-hot greek woman that she is. I read on imdb about her scar, I wonder what dude slashed her when she was little. I bet Matt D would take that dude out with his Jason Bourne moves.

  12. Scout says:

@Bek – I am so with you regarding
Good will Hunting…I fell for Matt when I saw him in that movie way back then. He is an awesome actor and, I believe, a good human being. I do not believe that stuff about him… I think he is as down to earth as one can be once one is a super star. I have never seen him “going ape shit” so I will have to do that before I make a final decision.

  13. lucy2 says:

Invictus actually did OK overseas, plus it earned him an Oscar nom, so I think he’s probably OK with it. 😀

  14. Me says:

My two favorite things, together? I won’t be able to handle it.

Matt Damon is the hottest – Jason Bourne is my imaginary husband.

  15. Jane says:

Bek – the Adrian Grenier video was a fake to promote Matt’s appearance on Entourage. And Morgan Freeman’s comments were clearly a joke at the London premiere.

  16. Bek says:

@Jane: Really? I wondered, but a lot of media outlets were touting it as truth and/or sweeping it swiftly under the rug. I thought it was real…but I’m happy to be wrong. I’d much rather hope he’s a stand-up guy.

  17. isabelle says:

    Love Matt.

  18. mslewis says:

Jane, that Morgan Freeman quote was a joke because, even if Freeman thought that about Matt, he would not have said it out loud. He was joking. Clooney and Pitt have also said silly things about Damon. I think Matt is a good guy but I still think doing all this TV stuff is not in his best interest.
