Chloe Sevigny’s Proenza Schouler ensemble: cute or hideous?

Barneys New York Book Party For Derek Blasberg's Classy

Y’all know I don’t care for Chloe Sevigny, or as I like to think of her, “The Budget Christopher Walken”. I think she’s rude and unpleasant and full of herself, but I will give her some credit – she’s been able to fashion a pretty decent career despite her personality disorder, and she’s a pretty good actress. Plus, when she says something crazy rude and unprofessional, at least she has the decency to blame the interviewer. So, I came into this fashion post fully prepared to hate on Chloe. But I can’t really. This isn’t horrible.

The hair is decent (hey, at least it‘s not slicked back, Walken-style), the makeup is light, and Chloe isn’t making her dumb facial expressions in most of these photos, so maybe she wasn’t “exhausted” (or drunk or on something). The dress (or skirt and blouse, whatever) is Proenza Schouler. I like it. It’s the kind of outfit that should be worn by a girl with really great, long legs. Which Chole has… unfortunately, Chloe styled the cute outfit with what looks like old-man boots and black socks? Everything happening below the knee kind of ruins what should have been a great fashion moment:

Way to make everything suck, Chloe!

I can’t quite put my finger on it, but I can’t, for the life of me, see how this girl is considered attractive at all.

She is very masculine looking, and definitely needs some make-up and eye brow upkeep.

  2. Paige says:

I think the shape and cut is cute and the colors are OK but the PATTERN is what’s throwing me off. It reminds me of a cheap hotel bedspread. She’s definitely got a fantastic body.

  3. Rianna says:

In fashion circles she is very popular and is a huge muse for a lot of the top designers including I believe Largerfield.

However, I do all my shopping at consignment stores and Target so she is definately not in my taste lol! I mustn’t be “high end” enough to get her I guess? She always wears such strange stuff, like she dresses with her eyes closed or something.

It does nothing for me. Her hair is limp, her face needs some color on it (it is like she doesn’t even try), the dress would look terrible on 99% of the population and the shoes? I would wear them fishing. At night. In winter only.

  4. Risa says:

she is fugly. so is the dress.

  5. Thhbbb! says:

    Agreed!

  6. Thhbbb! says:

Agree w/ Kaiser: dress good/shoe-boots suck donkey dick.

  7. R2D2 says:

never heard of this chick but she reminds me of the late Kurt Cobain in that last pic.

  8. Me says:

Some people like to call her style “quirky” but the proper word is ugly. I’ve never seen her wearing anything even remotely flattering or easy on the eye. And she’s playing that card intentionally. She knows full well she’s no beauty…

  9. princess pea says:

But Christopher Walken is AWESOME! It’s not very nice to compare them… she’s an egotistical, unpleasant bitch. And he’s so great.

Don’t worry CW, I got your back.

  10. Brooke says:

I love the Proenza Schouler and while a daintier shoe would perhaps be expected on someone else, Chloe has put it with a ‘screw what other people think is pretty’ chunkier open toe bootie. I agree that she knows she’s not beauty, so instead of “pretty”, she goes for “interesting”; it took a minute to grow on me when I saw this yesterday but I am unoffended by her choice.

  11. Lady Jane says:

I like her quirky style. She is not conventionally pretty, but aren’t we always berating Hollywood for turning out cookie cutter blonds with no personality? Three cheers for Chloe and her weird and wonderful fashion choices. I only wish there were more like her.

  12. Spooge says:

Friggin awesome as usual. Sexy as all hell. Love those short skirts she always wears.

  13. TaylorB says:

She is a perfectly attractive young lady but there is just something about her facial expressions that make me want to smack her upside the head.

  14. Malorie says:

I kinda like her, bur it´s true what paige says about the cheap hotel bedspread pattern.

And by the way I absolutely LOVE Christopher Walken!

  15. Ellen Smith says:

    Hair = awful
    Outfit = awful
    Face = awful
    Shoes = awful
If more than 0 people think she’s attractive = priceless

  16. ! says:

I love how everyone loves to line up and slam how she looks. She’s probably still more conventionally attractive than most people here. I guess there’s truth in the old adage. Some people really do got to tear others down to make themselves feel better. There’s really no other reason for being unnecessarily hyper-critical and nasty on the Internet.

That being said, I love the cut, hate the fabric.

  17. terry says:

her best talent is what she did in “The Brown Bunny”. She should stick to that talent.

  18. cfox says:

    Hideous.

  19. Tia C says:

Hideous, as usual. She’s a good actress but she has horrible taste in fashion.

  20. andrea says:

i dont get the christopher walken reference? how is this chick the budget christopher walken?

and, for the record, i love how some folks “love how” others don’t like some of these celebs behavior/fashions/etc and figure you must be just as awful a person or style-challenged to be commenting.

here’s a hint: this site is called “celebitchy”. if youre put off by celeb snarkery, GO ELSEWHERE. and, no, believe it or not, i have never done as wrong as tiger woods and i have much better fashion sense than many of these idiots and am cuter than most of them every day of the week, so SNARK ON i will!

  21. Katyusha says:

Eyebrow upkeep? They look pretty well maintained to me…what’s to fix?

I spend a lot of time trying to figure out if I think she’s pretty or not.

  22. I Choose Me says:

What’s with this “I love how…” followed by a reason why the person does NOT love a particular thing or sentiment. I’m seeing it all over the web of late and am vaguely annoyed by it. Eh, mebbe I just need more coffee.

I’m meh on Chloe as a person but she’s a fine actress.

  23. EMV says:

What is with those shoes?????!!!!!! FUGLY…The outfit I like…she is weird, but that’s what we like about her.

  24. Ellen Smith says:

    Love ya Andrea! Rock on.

  25. fizXgirl314 says:

@!… I think the point is that most of the posters here don’t make a living in the fashion and movie industry so their looks aren’t a commodity. I think people are just baffled by her status as a fashion icon, which I agree with (the baffled part not the she’s an icon part).

  26. Lori says:

    ick nast, that is all.

  27. GatsbyGal says:

Kaiser, once again I have to question your taste in fashion. Because this looks just awful.

  28. Mistral says:

I have to admit, I’d wear this.

  29. Boots says:

She looks fanatastic. It’s nice to see someone who isn’t just another cookie-cutter starlet.

  30. snapdragon says:

    i don’t like.

  31. albeli says:

She’s fugly and I hate her supposed “style.”

  32. j. ferber says:

I’ve always thought she’s adorable and have always liked her. Yes, she’s a hipster chick, and there’s always some pretension with that, but I like her career choices and think she’s a good actress. She’s done independent films forever and she’s great on Big Love.

  33. notgaga says:

Christopher Walken is awesome– not to be mentioned with her.

  34. pumak says:

    dress: fantastic – girl:skunkastic

  35. Johnd doe says:

She looks like a transvestite. More chin that a Chinese phone book too
