Courtney Love doesn’t want to be called that anymore. The musician and actress has decided that there is too much baggage associated with the name, so she’s not using it anymore. Instead, she is going by her birth name, Courtney Michelle. Oh, Courtney. You can change the name, but you can’t change the crazy!
Rock star Courtney Love has decided to stop using her stage name, claiming “Courtney Love is dead”.
“We’ve all decided we don’t like her any more,” the Hole singer told The NME magazine.
“We love her when she goes onstage, but I don’t need her in the rest of my life,” she added.
Asked how she would prefer to be addressed in the future, the star replied: “Courtney Michelle. The name Courtney Love is a way to oppress me.”
The singer and actress was born Courtney Michelle Harrison.
The 45-year-old is back on the road with her band, Hole, who release a new album, Nobody’s Daughter, later this month.
If I didn’t know better, I would swear that Courtney is sort-of getting her shit together. She’s back with Hole, where I personally think she was at her muscial best, and she hasn’t had a grammatically challenged Tweet-fest in a while. Maybe she is hoping to have custody of her teenaged daughter Frances returned to her before she’s 18? Who knows. Anyway, Courtney also informed the world that she will no longer be fielding questions about her late husband, Kurt Cobain. According to Court, she isn’t Kurt’s “spokesperson here on Earth.” While that is true, this news is a far cry from the woman who read her husband’s suicide note to a crowd of people at his memorial service.
COURTNEY LOVE is pleading with the media to stop quizzing the rocker about her late husband KURT COBAIN because she’s “sick” of talking about their short-lived marriage.
The Hole singer wed the Nirvana frontman in 1992 when she was pregnant with their daughter, Frances Bean Cobain, but tragedy struck when he was found dead in his Seattle, Washington home just two years later (94).
Love has been candid about her relationship with Cobain in the past – but she’s tired of answering reporters’ questions about what her late husband would be like if he was still alive today.
She tells Britain’s NME magazine, “I am not his spokesperson on Earth. I don’t know what he’d be like now, he could be into society girls, he could be into fat girls, he could be homosexual. We don’t know, he died at 27.”
And Love admits she’s feeling even more lonely now she’s lost custody of Frances, now 17: “I’m ultimately a widow and a single mother, who’s not even getting to be a mother right now. I am so alone, it’s freaky.”
The teenager was placed under the temporary guardianship of her paternal grandmother and an aunt in December (09) after falling out with her mother.
Love was subsequently slapped with a restraining order by a U.S. judge, preventing her from contacting her daughter until their next court date later this year (10).
The singer is putting her wild days firmly behind her and is currently attempting to reinvent herself using her birth name Courtney Michelle.
As much as I will miss the old Courtney Love, I hope this isn’t another false start and she really does manage to hold herself together. The years have not been kind to her – and neither has she. But do I expect to see her start dressing age-appropriately and behaving herself at all times? Of course not. That’s just not her style, even on her best, most sober day. Perhaps being forced to live alone has been a good thing for her though.

What is really sad is that she actually quite drugs when she was with Kurt, but decided to start again because she was scared she was going to loose him if she didn’t do drugs too. Then when he died she just completely lost it. I just feel so bad for her.

Pllleeaaasseee she was a stripper drug addict long before she met Kurt. I think she encouraged him to do drugs since she was also an addict and it kept him in “dark” and she could buy Lexus, designer clothes, etc. with his money etc.

If not personally involved, she absolutely drove the man to his death. The progressions and melodies from “Live through This” have Cobain written all over them. How many great songs has she written since that album ? Oh yeah…

I’ve said this a couple times before on here, but wth, imma make it a trifecta! Hole was a good band. CL was great in and fundamental to it and did/does have genuine talent (whether you liked the music or not is another factor).
That CL has been a wreck for the past however long, and her solo stuff not overly successful, are other facts. I just think it’s unfair and untrue to sum her up as simply talentless. Maybe it’s that I come from ye olde school of “I don’t have to love someone’s look/clothing line/bf/belief system/reality-show to enjoy their music!” ;o)

I read some article explaining how she scored Heroin for Kurt in New York and injected him for the first time. So she hooked him on Heroin before they were even married. And the night Kurt Cobain was killed, police found her in her hotel room in LA with syringes, vomit and broken furniture. I hope she burns in hell.

I’d love to know why she’s had so much crap done to her face. She’s only 45 years old and looks sooo much older. Her face looks so stretched and lopsided…downright weird. I’m guessing the drugs played some part in her transformation.

There’s a really good thing by the PI Courtney hired to look into Kurt’s death. I don’t for a second believe she killed him (which is what the PI says – totally turned on her) but I find it easy to believe that she/someone tampered with the scene and all the rest of it. It’s ages since I looked at it all but that’s what I recall as my own summary. Also that he’d said he wanted to quit music because he found the fame and adulation hard to handle – I know that actually from first hand, if you’ll have that! Woot! But also that he was shot of Courtney. If you google his suicide note try reading it as a quit the band/ quit the marriage note .. Makes a lot of sense read that way (if you leave out the last lines which are written in an .. ahem .. ‘distorted handwriting’). It really is years since I looked at this myself to come up with an opinion but it’s all online if you look and for what it’s worth, that essentially what I think happened. Scene tampering, lying and an ‘appended’ suicide note to make it look like he wasn’t ditching her.
I do not doubt for a second that Courtney Love was probably nearly impossible to live with – I bet she was an overbearing, smothering parasite to Kurt Cobain. I don’t think it’s an accident that she sought to date a guy who was so popular and making money, nor that she got pregnant with his child. Moochers choose their targets carefully.
An insider wrote that when Courtney Love went to view Kurt Cobain’s body before he was cremated, she put his hand under her skirt. What a demented psycho.

When asked how would Kurt be nowdays ?… well the answer is that he wouldn’t recognized her because her face has changed so much.
Her face looks like melting wax. she has been self destructive for years now, and I’m afraid this is her final stage.
Kurt Cobain was a heroin addict who couldn’t get away from his addiction–that is why he killed himself. I have read some articles that say he could not have possibly lifted that gun with all the heroin that was in his system. They are ridiculous. All that proves is that he did it so much, he built up a tolerance. I can’t imagine what it would be like to have someone close to me commit suicide and then have people writing and saying it was your fault because you are such a bad person. It must have been a horrible thing to go through. I agree that Courtney Love has had some unusual behavior over the years, but this is how drug addicts on drugs act. I don’t think Curt Cobain, who was a heroin addict himself, was easy to live with. How could he have been? He wasn’t present.
