This is a serious question: how is Lindsay Lohan not in jail? At the very least, how is she not being forcibly institutionalized in some kind of rehab/mental illness asylum? The bitch is crazy, on drugs, and a danger to herself and others. And yet, she’s allowed into the world, day after day. So, where am I going with this? Lindsay missed her second scheduled deposition on Tuesday. This is after she ditched her first scheduled deposition last week to look like a puffy vampire while doing some cracked-out shopping with her sister. What was Lindsay doing on Tuesday that was so important that she had to miss her second deposition? Well, her lawyer claims that it was only issue with Lindsay getting a ride, since she can’t drive. Um, that’s what taxis are for. Here’s more:
Lindsay Lohan is 0 for 2 in the deposition department. TMZ has learned Lindsay was a no-show again … in what is looking like a futile attempt to find out what really happened during her 2007 wild ride.
Three passengers in Lindsay’s car — along with the passenger in the car she was chasing — are suing her, claiming she endangered their lives in a drunken chase down Pacific Coast Highway.
The passengers were scheduled to take Lindsay’s depo yesterday at 10 AM but her lawyer, Ed McPherson, tells TMZ she couldn’t get a ride until 11 AM — she’s not allowed to drive as a condition of her probation.
Lindsay bailed on her depo earlier this month because of a schedule conflict.

So, we now know that Lindsay is too dumb/cracked-out/lie-filled/sleepy/ridiculous to call a cab to take her to a scheduled appointment. But what did Lindsay do the rest of Tuesday? Oh, right. She went clubbing with a couple of hookers and then crack tweeted about Samantha Ronson spitting in her face.
So back to the question: how is she not in jail?
Also: who gave her a shiner?

Most people are aware of the so called “celebrity justice” but that can only go so far. This is her second court ordered hearing she has missed and she can not say she was sick, when there are photos of her out clubbing. Either Lindsay has some good lawyers(how she can afford them I can only guess) or she has some serious dirt on some members of the court
They won’t get her into court without a court-order. If Linds loses the case, or settles, the bitch will probably turn right around and declare bankruptcy. Trust.

It all goes along with celebrities who are ‘broke’ who continue to shop on Rodeo Dr, continue to stay in luxurious hotels around the world, continue to party hardy at fancy club VIP rooms..if we little people are ‘broke’ we are scraping up our quarters to go to Mc D’s ! these people live on ‘the other side’. we can only hope the karma eventually gets to them…
Absolutely ridiculous that she is permitted this kind of behavior. Anyone in the legal system who would accept the “I can’t get a ride” excuse from someone with the means and apparent $$ that LL has is inexcusable. Are they putting this off in the hopes that the others involved will cave and not proceed? I hope her ass gets thrown in jail – and not for one of those 2 hours = 2months deals. The real thing. P-R-I-S-O-N. It might actually do her some good.
Isn’t it obvious: she clearly couldn’t afford a cab. Or the cab driver wouldn’t let her do lines off the back seat. Or she smelt worse than the cab so the driver wouldn’t let her in.

Interesting that the courts will give you daily bus passes so you can be on jury duty, which is also a legal obligation, but this stupid waste of human skin can miss it based on the “I couldn’t get a ride” excuse. One of you try that next time you’re court ordered to be somewhere. And let me know how that works out for you.
She’s a celebrity! Well, kinda. She got away legally with hijacking a car, kidnapping its occupants, and chasing another car, all while carrying cocaine in her pocket. This little ol’ civil case is nothing for her. She’s waiting for the others to cave.
She would never use a taxi when there are car services available in LA, though they might require cash up front rather than a credit card from her.

Car service, taxi, bus…or hey, how about her lawyer picks her up on the way? If she’s able to get out to clubs and shopping every day, she’s able to get to the deposition.
Total BS. She doesn’t ever want to take responsibility for her actions, and I think her blowing all this off is her deluded/cracked out way of pretending it never happened, as if she ignores it, it’ll go away.

This is a serious question but why would Lindsay be sent to jail? I don’t know the terms of her probation or even if she still has it but I don’t think she’s done anything to get arrested. If she’s not allowed to go to clubs and drink than she should go to jail. If she’s being drug tested obviously she’s passing. I know people think that drugs was the powder from her shoes but that makes absolutely no sense. A drug addict wouldn’t just leave it on the ground. They would be licking it off of the sidewalk. Clearly Lindsay is speeding downhill but there isn’t any public evidence of illegal activity. Rumors/tabloids don’t count. Also this deposition is for a civil lawsuit not criminal. I don’t think you can be jailed for not show up. Maybe fined or you just automatically lose the case.

Lindsay looks high in that last pic. I don’t understand how she is not violating her probation. I wonder what the terms are. Didn’t she have to go to Alcohol Education classes? The classes really helped.
While she’s done lots of other things that could’ve landed her in jail, I just wanted to point out that missing a scheduled deposition isn’t actually illegal — just incredibly insulted, and probably a bad idea if you want your actual court case to go well.

Depositions are mostly held in lawyer’s offices, not the court. Otherwise, she would be in jail. The lawyer’s need to file a complaint with the court to make it more “mandatory”, I think. THEN when she shines them on, they can have her arrested.
Sarah is right, depositions are not necessarily mandatory, and to miss one (or two, as the case may be) is not necessarily breaking the law. It is, however, as dread pirate cuervo pointed out, indicative of her (extremely) poor character.
She is most likely being advised by her lawyer to stall in the hopes that the victims drop their case. I hope they NEVER drop it. She never has had any consequences and she needs some, dammit!!

As a recovering addict myself I feel for Lindsay — to a point. I got myself A DUI in CA. (where I lived at the time) and they didn’t play any games with me or let me slide. However I know this isn’t a DUI case and I am not a “celebrity”. But I had to pay up…and quick. Or they were going to arrest me. period. Now saying that I feel Lindsay needs to hit rock bottom before she will realize what danger she is in and by the law giving into her by letting her get away with breaking the law is only counter productive and only adds to her addiction. It’s an enabler…just like her mother. Someone needs to 5150 this girl and pronto. She needs medical attention…physically and mentally.
I think she’s being advised by her legal team to stall, because they know Lindsay’s going to lose her civil trial and girlfriend is BROKE!
I feel bad for her to a point – if only because her lawyers are going to bleed her dry before throwing her to the wolves.
But then again, she’s had quite some time to reflect on her poor choices and take accountability for her actions. She could have grew a pair of ovaries and shown up anyway – because it’s the right thing to do. But instead, she chickened out and went shopping.
