The Los Angeles premiere of Iron Man 2 was last night, and we have SO much to discuss. First of all: I know a lot of you are like “Kaiser you are so anti-woman because you are convinced that Gwyneth Paltrow and Scarlett Johansson hate each other, why can’t girls be friends?” Girls can be friends. I buy that there are smart, accomplished women in the Hollywood industry who are friends, who genuinely support each other, who like each other very much. Goopy and ScarJo are not those women. On ScarJo’s part, I really don’t think she cares one way or the other about Goopy. But I think Goopy f-cking hates ScarJo. They didn’t pose together at all on the red carpet last night, and once again, Gwyneth attached herself to Robert Downey Jr. and posed only with him, as if she was the second lead in the film. She’s not. Her name isn’t even on most posters.
Second thing: once again, ScarJo and Goopy were wearing the same color! For the photo call, it was shades of grey. Last night is was white. I think Goopy is trying to fashion c-schlock ScarJo. Like she’s telling ScarJo, “Let me show you how to do white, honey.” Except that I think Gwyneth looks like hell in this white shorts-and-jacket ensemble (so 2002), mixed with the chunky black shoes (so 1996). She looks like she’s trying too hard to impress someone, or to be high-fashion. Hate it. ScarJo, on the other had, looks slightly stumpy (as shorter, curvy girls do sometimes when they are styled incorrectly), but I ended up really liking ScarJo’s dress. She looks like she made an effort to look “pretty” for the premiere, while Goopy just looks like she’s trying.
Additionally – Mickey Rourke and his girl need to stop with the spray tans. They look like roasted carrots. And How cute is RDJ and his wife Susan? Aw!

Um, why not Scarlett is trying to fashion c-cblock Gwyneth? I get that you don’t like her but come on! Also the suit with shorts is so NOW! Amanda Seyfried wore one the other day to her premiere.

I like Gwyneth here better (the legs!). Scarlett looks like she doesn’t know what she’s doing. it isn’t just about looking ‘pretty’.

Woman needs to accept her own age. Ms Paltrow was young (maybe a little beautiful) before, and now she is a mother of two in her thirties. Her face is simply NOT young.
Miss Johansson may be a lousy actress but she is young. It shows in the photos. She looks as fresh as a morning flower. Very pretty.
Ms Paltrow needs to accept the fact that her “Emma” era is finished and now it is time for other young girls to shine!

Actually Goopy IS looking fashion forward while ScarJo is the one who looks like she is trying too hard in that dress. Sorry but must say that Goopy is looking gorgeous.

I hate ScarJo’s dress. It is too much, especially for her figure and the glitter shoes are all wrong. Goopy looks more streamlined but I don’t really care for the cut of the shorts or the material. They both kind of got it wrong.

Look at that last image of Gwyneth about orange Mickey Rourke and his girlfriend. She does have a gorgeous body, but she looks completely foolish in that outfit. Kaiser is right and she’s trying too hard. She’s wearing a sparkly tuxedo jacket with short shorts and chunky heels! Give me a break.

Gwyneth is a bigger star than Scarlett, she’s won an Academy Award and has been an A List movie star for decades… She’s posing with RDJ because the movie’s PR people probably told her too. Furthermore, they are probably the architects of this alleged duel between Scarlett and Gwyneth. I would bet good money the studio’s PR told both women’s stylists to dress them in the same color.
Personally I think Scarlett’s dress is beautiful, but I think Gwyneth looks better. I mean DAMN Look at her body! Goopy has never looked better.

Both outfits bring the fug, but ScarJo’s is way worse. & Gwynnie will fashion cockblock her everytime by virtue of the willowy model body she was born with. However, I think they might actually be friends. Hitting Payless for a BOGO sale is the only explanation for those hideous shoes they’re wearing.

agreed-gwenyth still has more fashion chops in one finger than scarjo does on her whole body. scarlett is frequently styled terribly. she looks great here from the neck up, but the dress overwhelms her and she is too short. the only thing paltrow did wrong was wear those shoes. if she had worn something pointy and showed the top of her feet, her legs would have looked even longer and more amazing. those shoes cut her leg line off badly. thing amanda s from the other day and blake lively in the shorts and marchesa jacket from a while ago.

The little shorts suit is a little early for the season, but kind of cute, and she has the legs to pull it off. THe black shoes have got to GO, though. Why couldn’t she do strappy sandals or a nude heel? This just looks garish, especially with the shiny fabric. It would have been better in a matte texture, or more like a crepe.
Kaiser and Celebitchy, I’m on your side on this one.
And RDJ is just so delectable!

The disco vibe of Paltrow’s outfit ruins everything. She should have gone for a white short & suit ensemble with a navy vibe or clean fabrics. Maybe even silk chiffon stretched over cotton. Not glittery-doo.

Gwyneth looks great. Scatlett is a beautiful woman, but I don’t like the dress at all.
Mickey R is way more scary than the Pam Grier story. Sorry I find him utterly replusive. Maybe I seen one to many V commercials but I could totally believe rourke was a lizard under that horrible skin.

I agree that this “style conflict” is manufactured – G couldn’t care less about Scarlett and vice versa. G is on for the promos because she always prints; it’s a benefit of being a permanent A-lister.
I mean – they’re both wearing Armani. I think they are being dressed similarly enough to highlight the contrast in their perceived personalities – dressing G in late trends and Scarlett in sweeter, more youthful silhouettes. And just so you know, G is wearing those shoes because she doesn’t care how long her legs look – even at their shortest they’re twice as long as Scarlett’s.

Team Paltrow on this one. She looks hot. Not a fan of the shoes, but they seem to be the ‘in’ thing now….plus her purse matches.
As for Scarlett – dress does nothing for her. She has a beautfiful body, but the cut makes her legs look chunky. The dress itself looks like an icecream cone from Dairy Queen. Props for the good make-up though.
And, although Mickey Rourke’s side kick (err, fiance?) looks like she showered in spray tan yesterday morning, she does have beautful eyes.

I’ve never liked the over-rated Paltrow. I wish she’d retire like she keeps saying she would.

sorry, but goopy definitely wins this fashion face off. her legs look amazing in these shorts and she looks well put together while scarjo delivers yet another blah outfit. she needs to take a page out of dita von teese’s book or something, they have similar body types. that weird scrunched napkin looking thing she is wearing in the photos does nothing for her figure.

I got to say, I think a lot of things in RJD’s life came together when he met and married Susan- she seems like a stabilizing force in his life…
I do wonder sometimes if she executive produces most of his films because she’s really good at the work (as I’m sure she is) or because she’s really good at managing him.

i think RDJ’s wife looks better than either scarjo or goop. scarjo’s dress is pretty but it’s way too much on her -she is very small. goop looks like she’s dressing too young for her age. actually i think they should have switched outfits.

I give both of their outfits a ‘thumbs down.’ Actually, if I had to pick one over the other, it’d be Gwyneth Paltrow’s. SJ seems too fancy, too done up, which to me translates as trying too hard. Those shoes with Gwyneth’s outfit though…ugh. No no no. I don’t care how tall or slim you are, these shoes just don’t look right and just don’t work. With jeans, they’re fine. Shorts or skirts or dresses? No way.

Goop thinks of herself as the style guru, but it’s always FAIL. She really doesn’t have an eye for it at all. She’s always trying too hard, and her style never matches what she is trying to project…ala her Goop newsletter. She is FAIL all around. Go be a full time mom, and stop assaulting the public with your “talent.”

Kaiser is so correct — Gwynnie is totally c–kblocking SJ. I agree with another poster GP cannot win here SJ needs to pull out her ASSETS and draw attention to her in a classic silhouette in a dramatic color (i.e., red with cleavage) and no one, I mean , no one will see GP on the carpet or publicity interviews again! Work in ScarJo–learn it.

I think the shiny shorts make Gwyneth look try hard but marginally better than ScarJo. She still looks overall elegant, Scarlett looks lost in that dress. She needs to sack her stylist, pronto. I think she is trying to be fashiony on a Gwyneth level, downplaying her lady lumps and her pouty lips, two things that Gwyneth lacks, is a big mistake. Agree with dj, girl needs to get those puppies out and slick on some red lippy, obvious yes but with her subtle hair colour at the moment (hated her bleached blonde) I think she would blast Gwyneth off the red carpet no problemo.

I think Gwenyht looks beautiful- she has GREAT legs and a tall slim body- I don’t check out women in catsuits b/c I’m staright as an arrow,but if I’m going to pay 10 bucks for a movie ticket and I HAVE to see a woman in a catsuit,at least give me someone tall and slender like Gwenyth and NOT sone short stubby frumpy thing like Scarlett!Sorry this round goes to Gwenyth- BRW 30s is NOT old!!!
