Will Gerard Butler get America Ferrera to train his dragon?

train_your_dragon_22_wenn2782836

My guy Gerard Butler had a rough weekend. The Bounty Hunter only made it to third in the box office, making $21 million and getting crushed by Alice In Wonderland ($34.5 million) and Diary of a Wimpy Kid ($22 million). On the bright side, at least The Bounty Hunter wasn’t Repo Men (which debuted with $6.2 million). So, apparently, family entertainment (for various ages) is the current box office go-to movement. So it’s a good thing that Gerard has a family-friendly cartoon to promote this week, How To Train Your Dragon. That film also has voice work by America Ferrera, Craig Ferguson and Jonah Hill, amongst others.

On the red carpet, Gerard described the film: “Normally when I play a warrior its pretty X-rated – very violent, bloody and intense. This is an intense movie, there are a lot of great fun action sequences, but it’s still a family movie. Adults love it and kids love it, so it’s nice to be able to play the big strong, brawny, burly Viking yet be a part of a story that everybody can enjoy. Making a regular movie and there’s things that you love about it as well, like I didn’t have to do costume fittings and train and work up a body, go through make-up every day and put on scars and blood, which was great. The other great thing is you’re kind of like an audience member, you do your bit but you don’t see it until the end, so it’s as much of a pleasure to you as it is to an audience.”

I kind of want to see a crush of rumors about America and Gerard hooking up. Sure, they look chummy in these photos. But do they look sexy together? Is she even his type? Yes! Gerard had a short interview in this week’s People Magazine, and he described his type, which sounds a lot like America (and me, for that matter). First off, when the People Mag girl asks him where she should sit, he replies, “I figured you’d sit on my lap!” Jesus, Gerry. I love you! You are so deliciously smarmy.

Jennifer Aniston makes good Mexican food?
Gerard: She does! She loves to bake too, and she thought it was fun to send me cupcakes – until she realized it was a problem, and then she stopped. I’m known as the Cupcake King… but there’s other ways to my heart that are a lot sexier than through my stomach.

What’s your type?
Gerard: I’m often attracted to tall women with long dark hair. But there’s no particular type. It just depend on the feeling you have with somebody.

How do you kick back?
Gerard: Last year I rode a motorbike into the Himalayas. I drove a 4X4 up glaciers at 2 a.m. in Iceland. I love not knowing, “Is it gonna be incredible or am I gonna end up dead?”

Will you rock a kilt again?
Gerard: It’s my heritage: I think it’s one of the most handsome looks, and it feels pretty great.

[From People Magazine, print edition]

Okay, so he likes tall girls with long dark hair. So maybe America is out, just because of the height thing. But am I in? I’m around 5 foot six. Does that qualify as tall? If my hair is really long (I need it cut, actually), will he excuse the shortness? Will he still have “the feeling” with me? I think he will. And I’ll cook for him and bake for him, even though there are “sexier” ways to his heart. Because I fear those sexier ways. I’m much more comfortable baking for him than doing whatever crazy sex thing (probably involving nipple clamps, pleather, a broom and Crisco) will win his heart. Cupcakes, Gerry. Let’s keep it PG this time!

In other Gerard news, in addition to his upcoming role (being directed by Ralph Fiennes, swoon) in Coriolanus, Gerard has also signed on for an untitled Farrelly Brothers film with Elizabeth Banks, Kate Winslet, Hugh Jackman, Naomi Watts, Liev Schreiber and Johnny Knoxville. Gerard confirmed to MTV News that he’s playing “the most perverse, disturbing, disgusting, foul-mouthed leprechaun you could ever imagine.” Gerard went on: “I’ve been kidnapped by Johnny Knoxville and Seann William Scott so they can get their pot of gold. They don’t really quite realize what they’ve bargained for. They land themselves in a bit of trouble. It’s funny because we’re using that technology from ‘Benjamin Button’ — what’s the politically correct term? A little person? — and they’re going to put my head onto the little person. It’s very funny. It’s insane.”

America Ferrera told to lose diva ‘tude on Ugly Betty set

spl79098_014
The future of ABC show “Ugly Bettty” is in doubt after the network announced they were putting it on a two month hiatus starting in March. Two other other comedies, Samantha Who and Motherhood, will take over Betty’s coveted Thursday night 8pm slot. The National Enquirer reports that star America Ferrera has been put on notice to behave herself on set now that the future of the show is in question. America is said to have an attitude of entitlement that fosters a negative work environment. Rumor has it that she couldn’t get along with guest star Lindsay Lohan and that she had Lohan’s planned six episodes on the show cut back to four:

“The brass is sick of dealing with the cast’s petty disagreements and infighting instigated by America’s diva behavior,” an insider told The Enquirer.

“They’re hoping the hiatus scares America straight and serves as a reality check that she’s not indispensable – and not the center of the universe.

“Everyone on ‘Ugly Betty’ needs a break – but America is the root of the trouble.

“Producers told her when the show resumes, she had better come back with a smile on her face and without the chip on her shoulder.”

As the Enquirer revealed last fall, America clashed so badly with guest star Lindsay Lohan that she had Lindsay’s role on the ABC series cut from six episodes to four.

America then accused co-star Vanessa Williams of betraying her after Vanessa publicly spoke out in Lindsay’s defense.

[From The National Enquirer, print edition, February 16, 2009]

You can hardly blame America for pulling rank when Lindsay showed up on set, chain smoking and dragging her entourage with her. It’s hard to think of Ferrera as a diva, but if this is true maybe it will be the wakeup call she needs to start toeing the line at work and doing her job. America has a plum job as the lead in a popular television show and she hasn’t exactly established herself as a big screen draw despite some notable film roles. She would do well to keep her job as long as possible.

Lindsay Lohan wore out her welcome at “Ugly Betty”

Lindsay Lohan has been talking about how much fun she’s had working with the cast at the ABC hit show “Ugly Betty” in a guest star role over the last two seasons. But sources say the feeling isn’t mutual. The cast and crew at the show are so fed up with Lindsay, her habits, and the havoc she wreaks on set, they’ve cut the number of appearances this season from six to four. Meanwhile, Linsday’s defenders are saying that the show’s star, America Ferrera, is the real diva and was “mean” to Linsday.

IT got so ugly on the set of “Ugly Betty” between Lindsay Lohan and the popular ABC show’s star, America Ferrera, that Lohan was cut from an agreed-upon six episodes to four.

One production source said, “It was a mess. Lindsay would show up every day with an entourage of people. She smoked 24/7, and after she left, they had to repaint her dressing room it was such a mess.”

In addition, Lohan “would obsessively cut pictures of herself out of the tabloids like she was creating some sort of scrapbook and refused to go on set until America was there – it was a power play.”

One episode, titled “Granny Pants,” was about how Lohan, playing Betty’s high school nemesis, would “de-pants” Ferrera. But Ferrera exacts her revenge and pulls down Lohan’s pants instead. “Lindsay wasn’t wearing any underwear,” the source said.

But a Lohan pal fumed, “Bull [bleep]! Lindsay wears underwear all the time now. She was wearing a G-string. And it was America’s fault. They were rehearsing the scene and America wasn’t supposed to pull Lindsay’s pants down – but she did. Lindsay was so embarrassed, she started crying.”

As for the dressing room, Lohan’s pal said it was also used by the cast of the Fox sci-fi thriller “Fringe.” “So maybe they messed it up. And an entourage? Yeah, she had her sober companion with her, as well as her manager, assistant and [girlfriend] Samantha Ronson. Her publicist was there a couple of times. But so what?”

The pal blames Ferrera for any issues, saying, “America was mean to Lindsay. Producers give her too much power. Lindsay didn’t do the last two episodes because America didn’t like her and got her kicked off.”

Ferrera’s rep would only say, “America is grateful to have had her on the show and thinks everyone should tune in to see how great the episodes are.”

Lohan’s rep said, “Lindsay was scheduled for six episodes and is appearing in four but had a lovely time.

[From Page Six]

Based on everything I’ve read and seen of America Ferrera, I can’t imagine her being mean or instigating a “power play” with anyone. Conversely, there are endless interviews and stories of Lindsay talking smack about other actresses- including those she’s never even met. Pretty much every female peer she’s worked with has tales of Lindsay’s snotty behavior, from Megan Fox to the cast of “That 70′s Show.” If I had to pick which one was the “mean” girl, it wouldn’t be hard to do. It’s too bad that after all she’s been through, Lindsay still can’t seem to understand that her attitude and treatment of people will continue to negatively effect both her image and her ability to get work. “Ugly Betty” may be a TV show, but it’s a high profile one that a lot of people watch. This could have been a great opportunity for her to kick-start her career and win back some acting cred- but instead, her antics are getting more attention, as usual.

America Ferrera says Gossip Girl “conditions us to be mean”

America Ferrera has made some pretty bold statements about Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants costar Blake Lively’s show Gossip Girl. Ferrera claims shows like that emphasize a catty, competitive, bitchy nature between women and completely discount the loving, supportive bonds many have with one another. Though she’s right, it also seems like that statement has a tinge of hypocrisy, in that criticizing your supposed friend’s show for it is a little harsh in the first place.

America Ferrera isn’t a fan of The Hills or Gossip Girl. “Close, genuine female relationships are not what generally gets depicted in movies and TV shows,” she says in the October issue of Seventeen. “Like, if you’re watching The Hills or 90210, all the backstabbing shapes the way we act – you go to school, and you think your job is to find a sworn enemy and be jealous of each other,” she goes on.

Adds Ferrera, 24: “I mean, I love Blake [Lively], she’s a wonderful friend of mine, but shows like Gossip Girl kind of condition us to be mean.”

But working with Lively, Amber Tamblyn and Alexis Bledel in the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants movies was “one of the most wonderful experiences I’ve had with girl relationships,” she says. Before meeting them she says, “I was like, ‘I’m just going to show up to work and be professional – not their best friend… But a couple of weeks into shooting, Amber and I started talking,” Ferrera tells Seventeen. “She’s a hippie, and I thought we had nothing in common – and now she’s one of my closest friends!”

[From Us Weekly]

I wholeheartedly agree with everything America said, and frankly while it’ll probably make things a little awkward between her and Blake, I think having the guts to say that is sorta worth it. She wasn’t disrespectful and was honest and concise. Ugly Betty is fun but not overt trash like some of the other shows Ferrera mentioned.

Whenever I read an interview with America it’s clear that she’s whip smart, very opinionated, and well-spoken. I think her comments were pretty fair everything considered, and she made her point without being mean-spirited.

Here’s America on the set of Ugly Betty in Central Park yesterday. Images thanks to Fame.

Lindsay Lohan in talks to appear on Ugly Betty (spoilers)

Lindsay Lohan is negotiating a role on Ugly Betty that would have her befriending America Ferrera’s character. Lohan starts out working as an assistant manager at the fast food restaurant where Betty’s father is employed, and America tries to get her a job at Mode, the fashion magazine where she works.

“Everyone’s very excited,” the source said. “Of course it brings a lot of attention to the show, and it’s a great part for Lindsay.”

The role is apparently part of a three-episode arc during which Betty befriends Ms. Lohan’s character, who has fallen on tough times since high school. The ravishing redhead has had a difficult year herself, recently completing her latest stint in rehab at Utah’s Cirque Lodge after racking up two consecutive DUI’s this summer.

“It sounds really cute,” our spy burbled of the new opportunity, which of course might be jeopardized by the ongoing Writers Guild strike. “Betty tries to help Lindsay’s character by getting her a job at Mode, the fashion magazine where she works on the show.”

[From NYObserver.com]

There was a lot of hype over another celebrity’s scheduled appearance on the award-winning ABC comedy. Victoria Beckham has an upcoming cameo on Ugly Betty as herself. The episode will air tonight in the US.

Along with this possible role on Ugly Betty, Lohan has two movies coming up that you’ve already heard of. She’s working on Dare to Love Me now, and is set to film Poor Things. The film is in pre-production and is likely to be delayed by the writer’s strike.

Lindsay Lohan new boyfriend, Riley Giles, is being labeled a money-grubbing K-Fed type. A story came out earlier in the week that he posted an arrogant message on his myspace saying that Lohan’s mom had approached them to appear on her new reality show for the E! Network and that they wouldn’t consider it. Giles denies writing that blog post, and says he doesn’t even have a myspace:

It read, “ADVICE OF THE WEEK: if your (sic) a mom, with four kids, the best thing u can do for them right now is have a reality show. WE. DO. NOT. WANT. She had the nerve to ask us to be on. No thanks!”

But snowboarder Giles tells In Touch Weekly magazine, “I don’t even have MySpace. Someone is obviously pretending they are me.”

[From SFGate.com]

Myspace is such a pain in the ass, I barely check mine anymore. Facebook is the way to go and has no spam that I’ve experienced. I don’t blame the guy for not having a myspace.

Here’s Lohan out shopping yesterday looking particularly orange. Thanks to WENN for these photos.
