Is Amy Poehler dating comedian Nick Kroll 7 months after her marriage ended?

Here are some new photos of Amy Poehler doing some grocery shopping yesterday in West Hollywood. These photos just make me wish that Amy was my mom and she was going to make me dinner. Right? She seems like the kind of mom who likes to guzzle the “cooking wine” while she makes dinner.

Anyway, it’s been about seven months since Amy and Will Arnett announced their split (they announced last September). Since then, it seems like Amy has “won” the split even though there really doesn’t seem to be that sense of competition between she and Will. Still, she co-hosted the Golden Globes, presented at the Emmys with Louis CK (and she looked awesome), and she got some questionable breakup bangs, but overall… she “won”. So has enough time passed for Amy to start dating again?

Amy Poehler seems to have moved on from her estranged husband, Will Arnett. The “Parks and Recreation” star was spotted out on a date with actor and comedian Nick Kroll at the Pikey Cafe and Bar on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles last Friday night.

Kroll has a sketch comedy show, “The Kroll Show,” on Comedy Central.

A spy tells us the two looked “cozy” as they sat across from each other at a small table. The couple also went unnoticed by other customers as they dined.

“No one really recognized them,” a witness told us. While sources tell us that this wasn’t a first date, reps for the two comics didn’t get back to us.

Poehler separated from Arnett last September after nine years of marriage. The couple has two children, Archibald, 4, and Abel, 2, together.

[From Page Six]

I’m including photos of Nick Kroll below – I was vaguely familiar with the name, and now that I’ve put the name to a face, I realize that I’ve seen him all over the place. He takes part in Comedy Central shows and E! shows all the time. He’s funny and he has a sort of “what if Woody Allen was a hipster” vibe. She could do WAY worse.

Amy Poehler & Tina Fey respond to Taylor Swift’s ‘place in hell’ VF comments

I’m kind of surprised that anyone felt the need to defend Taylor Swift in yesterday’s epic Vanity Fair post. I mean… I’ve defended Swifty in the past because… I don’t know, she’s annoying but ultimately I thought she was harmless, and almost fun (gossip-wise). But her Vanity Fair interview depicts an arrogant, self-absorbed, hypocritical and humorless young woman who wants to maintain a fairy-tale-like white-washed image while participating in some really nasty, low-down press tactics.

When Swifty was asked about Tina Fey and Amy Poehler’s Golden Globes joke about Swifty going after Michael J. Fox’s son Sam, Swifty replied, “You know, Katie Couric is one of my favorite people… Because she said to me she had heard a quote that she loved, that said, ‘There’s a special place in hell for women who don’t help other women.’” So, obviously, the press ran to Tina Fey and Amy Poehler to see what the old, wicked witches had to say about poor, maligned, virginal Swifty. So far, Tina hasn’t taken the bait. But Amy took the bait, and she’s hilarious.

Why you gotta be so mean? Amy Poehler and Tina Fey earned rave reviews for their hilarious stint as emcees for the 2013 Golden Globe Awards in January, but there was at least one person in the audience who didn’t think their schtick was so funny: country superstar Taylor Swift. The 23-year-old “I Knew You Were Trouble” singer found herself the butt of one of the duo’s jokes — Fey warned her to “stay away from Michael J. Fox’s son — and judging by her reaction in the April issue of Vanity Fair, she was not amused.

“You know, Katie Couric is one of my favorite people,” Swift told the magazine when asked about the joke (and about “mean girls” in general). “Because she said to me she had heard a quote that she loved that said, ‘There’s a special place in hell for women who don’t help other women.’” (The quote is actually attributable to Madeleine Albright, who said it during a speech to the WNBA’s All-Decade Team.)

Poehler, who followed Fey’s quip at the Globes with one of her own — “Go for it!” she joked to the young star — responded to the comments in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter on Tuesday, March 5. “Aw, I feel bad if she was upset,” the Parks and Recreation actress said of Swift’s reaction. “I am a feminist and she is a young and talented girl.” (In fact, Poehler, 41, started an online network called “Smart Girls at the Party,” where she doles out advice to young women in short “Ask Amy” YouTube clips.)

“That being said, I do agree I am going to hell,” the comedian added. “But for other reasons. Mostly boring tax stuff.”

[From Us Weekly]

And that’s how you take down your critics, Swifty. With grace, humor and aplomb. I’m SO glad Amy prefaced her comment with “I am a feminist…” Because that’s something Swifty won’t do. When Swifty is asked point-blank is she considers herself a feminist, she says, “I don’t really think about things as guys versus girls. I never have. I was raised by parents who brought me up to think if you work as hard as guys, you can go far in life.” Basically, when she’s asked about feminism, she twirls her hair and says, “I can’t be a feminist, I like boys and I don’t want them to feel threatened by me! EW PANTS.” Also, I love Amy’s “I feel bad if she was upset.” Classic non-apology. “I’m sorry you’re such an a—hole” is another classic that I would use in this situation.

OK, I wrote all of that ^^ up last night, and this morning I see that Tina Fey responded too. Tina sounds pissed! She told Entertainment Tonight, “If anyone was going to get mad at us, I thought it would be James Cameron. I did not see that one coming. It was a joke. It was a lighthearted joke.” That was Tina’s version of “Bitch please.”

Elizabeth Banks in orange McQueen at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party: kick ass or fug?

When I was covering Melissa McCarthy’s big poofy Oscar hair, I mentioned that the giant hair trend seems to be on the wane. Unfortunately Elizabeth Banks tried to make it work at last night’s Vanity Fair Party, with a kind of upward swoop Elvis thing, and ended up looking like a Q-tip. She’s so cute and happy I can’t trash her styling though, especially in this awesome dress. I know some of you won’t agree, but this orange and cream abstract watercolor Alexander McQueen gown is amazing. It’s bold, it has striking details that are not too busy or overdone (I love how the bodice is a little more cream than the skirt and is separated by that metallic and tortoise belt) and it’s somehow contemporary and classic at the same time. Those earrings seem a little goofy to me, but they’re not bad. She looks really pretty and she stands out without looking try-hard.

For some reason Elizabeth posed with Richard Gere. He looks like he’s giving her some dumb advice here.

Patricia Clarkson also went with a bright color in this crimson dress with mounds of draped fabric at the hips. I actually have a skirt like this that I bought a few years back when I was at my skinniest and this trend was at its height. It adds to the illusion that your hips are big, but I don’t think it’s unflattering. You can tell it’s the fabric and not the wearer. Maybe I’m saying that because this is Patricia Clarkson, she can wear whatever the hell she wants and wear the hell out of it.

Amy Poehler was in a fitted emerald green gown that looks like Herve Leger, although I don’t have a designer ID on it yet. Her boobs look really good in that dress, her makeup is fresh and her hair is cute. I’d love to see Amy work it a little more, she’s slouching here.

Amy’s Parks & Rec co-star Rashida Jones was in sequin Vivienne Westwood, in one of the gunmetal colors that was popular last night. I wish we had a full length photo of her – you can see one here, on Just Jared. There’s a little too much fabric going on with this dress, but the entire look is really glamorous yet a little understated. I like it, although I’d like to see her with different jewelry. The emerald cuff and ring are a little much.

Anne Hathaway in Gucci at the Costume Designers Guild Awards: cute or fug?

Here are some photos from the 15th Annual Costume Designers Guild Awards at the Beverly Hilton last night. The Costume Designers Guild got some good people to come out, but I swear, I think the Hair Guild and the Makeup Artists Guild might have been on strike last night. There were some cute outfits, but the styling was terrible in many cases. Anne Hathaway was one of the big “gets” at the event – maybe because she’s literally appeared at EVERY awards show this year – and she looked cute. Her sparkly dress is Gucci, and she’s giving me hope that she’ll be styled kind of mod/1960s for the Oscars. Her eye makeup is the one thing I hate – much too heavy.

Amy Poehler and her new breakup bangs (UGH) in Prada. Ever since Gwyneth Paltrow wore that amazing Tom Ford Super-GOOP cape, designers have been doing more capes and caplets. Although I love her, this cape isn’t flattering – it makes her look slumped and hunchbacked. And the satin just looks… bad.

I didn’t even recognize Cat Deeley now that she’s super-blonde. She looks good but I wish women would stop flat-ironing their hair. It’s such a dated look. Her dress is Monique Lhuillier.

Ginnifer Goodwin in Misha Nonoo – it looks like de la Renta, right? Except this dress fits better than most de la Renta gowns these days. I think this might be my favorite dress of the event.

Joel McHale was the host of the event. This photo is just for CB.

Kristen Wiig in… an unknown designer. I think this is a really cute look for her, I just would have changed her hair. Maybe a chignon.

Lily Collins in Paule Ka. Terrible. Just terrible. The worst look of the night.

Amanda Seyfried in midnight blue Zac Posen at the SAGs: gorgeous or meh?

Amanda Seyfried

Amanda Seyfried went for glamour at the SAGs last night with a gorgeous midnight-blue-colored Zac Posen gown with tastefully ruffled hemline that led into a bit of a trail. This is exactly the kind of dress that Amanda looks great in, and it’s not too cutesey like she tends to do sometimes. She also seems pretty happy here, so I’m also guessing that she didn’t have a fight with her stylist over this dress, which is just perfect and nearly impossible to pick apart.

Amanda was on hand as part of the best cast nomination for Les Miserables, and I have to wonder whether she’s gritting her teeth at this point over Anne Hathaway’s “look at me” behavior during this awards season. She certainly has more patience than I would have in the same situation, and at least Amanda can rest assured that her SAGs dress was a lot better than Anne’s. I also really like Amanda’s long, silver pendant necklace here, which is a very atypical choice, but it fits the dress quite well. The beautiful-Rapunzel, wavy hair and tastefully bold makeup were perfect for this gown. Amanda might be slightly dull during interviews, but she looks pretty perfect here.

Amanda Seyfried

Amanda Seyfried

Amy Poehler

Amy Poehler wore a black Zuhair Murad gown that was a little bit sparkly but mostly just there although it made her bod look really good. Amy was nominated for best actress in a comedy for “Parks and Rec,” and I would have loved it if she’d been a little more daring for the SAGs like her good friend, Tina Fey, below. I’d also like to see Amy do something different with her hair. Maybe go very sleek and straight or go for an updo. Amy wears her hair like this a lot, right? She’s still gorgeous, and Will Arnett is probably still crying in his chicken soup over her.

Amy Poehler

Tina Fey

Tina Fey was rocking the Oscar de la Renta last night. I almost didn’t recognize her at first because this is a very adventurous look for her! Tina went strapless in a well-fitted black gown with an embellished metal belt and very dramatic eye makeup to match. I really like her hair all wavy like this. This is a great look for Tina, and she killed it on the red carpet and also while taking home a SAG for leading comedy actress in “30 Rock.”

Tina Fey

Jane Krakowski

Jane Krakowski wore an “orangey sherbet” (according to her) Kaufmanfranco gown that I wasn’t crazy about, but she could have pulled it off with a more retro hairstyle and maybe in a different color that didn’t closely match her own skin tone. The silver buckle on the belt is a nice touch though, and we’ve seen Jane go much, much gaudier at previous award shows, so this is probably a “win” for her.

Tina Fey & Amy Poehler as Golden Globe hostesses: how did they do?

After a three-year run as Golden Globes host, Ricky Gervais finally passed the torch to two of the loveliest, funniest ladies in the world, Amy Poehler and Tina Fey. We previewed their hosting duties yesterday in the Open Post, and they totally killed it last night – I laughed whenever they were on stage! Here’s their open monologue:

I think the Kathryn Bigelow/James Cameron got the most laughter/groans, but the whole thing was just hilarious. Love the Ben Affleck “You’re not betta than me” Boston joke. Love the “None of us has PLANS to do p0rn” joke. Also: “Quentin Tarantino is here tonight, he stars in all of my sexual nightmares.”

I think the best part of Amy and Tina’s hosting duties was that they weren’t omnipresent – about an hour into the show, I was like “Damn, where are they? I want them to come back and do a bit!” They made you miss them when they weren’t on stage. But I did love the little one-off jokes they sprinkled throughout the show, like after Bill Clinton introduced the clip from Lincoln, and Amy came out and said “OMG, that was Hillary Clinton’s husband!!!” And I loved when Amy and Tina were out in the audience for Best Actress in a Comedy Series – Tina and Jennifer Lopez clutching hands while Amy sat on George Clooney’s lap with a nice cocktail. What’s it going to take for Amy and Clooney to work together, amirite?

Basically, Amy and Tina ROCKED. I hope they get invited back next year to host! Or even better, I hope they get invited to host the Oscars next year!

Golden Globes Open Post: Hosted by the hostesses, Amy Poehler & Tina Fey

This year’s Golden Globes Open Post is hosted by The Hostesses!! Amy Poehler and Tina Fey are co-hosting this year’s Globes, and it should be a lot of fun. There probably won’t be as many uncomfortable moments/jokes as Ricky Gervais’s hosting duties for the past few years, but I don’t think Tina and Amy are going to play it safe either. They covered the most recent issue of The Hollywood Reporter to talk about their co-hosting gig, and if you haven’t read the interview yet, it’s a joy. Go here to read it. Amy and Tina talk about how much fun they want to have and how the Globes are special because everybody gets hammered. They even invented a drinking game:

THR: And it’s an awards show known mostly for its drinking.
Fey: When you get a bunch of people in a room who don’t eat much, and you give them one drink, it gets good fast.

Poehler: I was watching Bette Midler sing to Johnny Carson on his last [Tonight Show], and I thought: Maybe we should just sing to each other, Tina, like a really sad goodbye to each other?
Fey: At the beginning of the show. [Laughs.]
THR: And then just drop the mic and walk off?
Fey: But at the beginning. And just a long, slow, indulgent song where we do a lot of inside jokes.

THR: Back to the Globes. Is anything off-limits?
Poehler: The live audience tends to tell you. Tina made a very good point the other day. It’s a tough crowd because it’s a lot of nervous people waiting to see if they win or lose, and as the night goes on, the losers outnumber the winners. But having been in a lot of those awards shows, the Golden Globes are more fun because you can drink. It’s just that easy.

THR: OK, so can you come up with a couple of rules for a Globes drinking game?
Fey: Any time an actress cries in a speech, drink. Any time you see a person actively not listening to someone onstage, drink.
Poehler: Any time someone says, “I didn’t prepare anything!”
Fey: Any time anyone thanks Harvey Weinstein, eat a meatball sub.

THR: How about any time they show Judi Dench?
Fey: Yeah. You take off an article of clothing.
Poehler: Any time Maggie Smith wins.

THR: Has anyone given you a good piece of advice?
Fey: No. We should get some.
Poehler: I was doing some talk shows, and I asked both Jimmy and Conan O’Brien. Everyone says, “Make sure you’re enjoying doing it and make sure you have fun and keep it loose.” I think Tina and I aren’t worried about that. We just want to make sure we look amazing. We don’t care what we say. I have to get my head peel done before Jan. 13.
Fey: I want to look like a really young candle.

[From The Hollywood Reporter]

Tina was also asked specifically about Scientology jokes, and she refused to promise NOT to do any, so maybe Xenu will get a funny shout-out too. Basically, I’m just really looking forward to this. I have my fingers crossed for: Hugh Jackman (for Best Actor in a Comedy/Musical), Anne Hathaway (because I want to see her pretend to not be expecting it), Benedict Cumberbatch (because, obviously) and I can’t wait for Jodie Foster’s honorary award presentation. It should good!

Feel free to leave your thoughts and complaints in the comments!!

Tina Fey & Amy Poehler are going to co-host the 2013 Golden Globes!

If you’ve read Tina Fey’s Bossypants (which I sincerely hope you have), you know that there are few people Tina Fey admires and loves more than Amy Poehler. Tina is very open about her girl-crush on all things Poehler. I’ve never really heard Amy go on and on about how she feels about Tina, but I assume that the feeling is mutual. These two ladies love each other. And when they are together, magic happens! So I can’t believe it’s taken this long for some event organizer or producer to say, “Huh, we should get Tina and Amy to co-host this event.” Which is what just happened – Tina and Amy will co-host the 2013 Golden Globes! HUZZAH.

Seth who? A couple of weeks after the Oscars landed MacFarlane, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association has managed to top the Academy’s unconventional pick, booking two majorly funny stars for their show’s 2013 ceremony: Amy Poehler and Tina Fey.

HFPA’s president, Dr. Aida Takla-O’Reilly (along with dick clark productions and NBC) announced Monday that the actresses (and former Saturday Night Live costars) will co-host coverage of this year’s Golden Globes, airing Sunday, January 13.

“The unparalleled comedic timing of Tina and Amy will surely have viewers wanting to tune-in to see them in action,” Takla-O’Reilly shared. “The HFPA is thrilled to have the magnetic duo be a part of the show’s 70th anniversary!”

“Having both Tina Fey and Amy Poehler on board to host this year’s festivities is a major coup,” Paul Telegdy, President of NBC Entertainment’s Alternative and Late Night Programming, added.

“Tina and Amy have a proven chemistry and comedic timing from their many years together on SNL to their successful co-starring roles in Baby Mama.”

[From Us Weekly]

I think this is smart, especially after two years of Ricky Gervais’s hit-or-miss act. In 2011, Gervais was kind of over-the-top and vicious (even Robert Downey Jr. thought so), and then when Ricky returned earlier this year, he made a big deal about how he was still going to be ballsy and offensive, and it turned out to be one of his meeker performances. I trust that Amy and Tina will be able to find a nice balance between snarking on the celebrities in the audience and celebrating Hollywood. Now I kind of hope George Clooney will turn up… just because… OMG the jokes.

Is Amy Poehler drowning her sorrows in booze & bittersweet smiles?

I have a confession: I’ve never been a crazy Amy Poehler fan-girl. I like her just fine, I think she’s funny, I liked almost everything she did on SNL (a couple of her characters annoyed me), and she seems like a grounded, interesting person in real life. But I just never got all squealy and girl-crushy on her. I respect her from a distance, I admire the career she’s carved for herself, and I’m sad that she and Will Arnett have split up.

Now, all that being said, I wouldn’t mind having a drink with her. I imagine she would be a super-fun drinking partner, the kind of girl who would do three shots of tequila, begin to belt out “Sister Christian” and then end up doing a lambada with the hottest dude in the club. But Star Mag is trying to make Drunk Amy sound like a bad thing. They’re trying to drunk-shame Drunk Amy!

Lonely star Amy Poehler has been hitting the sauce following the demise of her nine-year marriage to actor Will Arnett; she was even spotted gulping numerous beers at an Emmy party.

“Amy’s putting on a brave face, but seeing her drink so much at the Emmys was disturbing,” an insider claims. “She tried to be the life of the party, but then the happy face would drop and she’d look so sad. It’s like she’s trying to run away from her feelings.”

But those close to her worry that she’s finding solace in the wrong place – like the liquor store.

“Even to her close friends she pretends like nothing is wrong,” the insider continues. “But everyone would rather see her sad than tumble down the slippery slope of booze. She’s just utterly heartbroken and that is only adding to the stress.”

[From Star Magazine, print edition]

I mean… how patronizing is this? Let the bitch get her drank on at the Emmys! Even if she was sloppy drunk at the Emmys, and even if she’s feeling sad these days… so what? That sounds completely normal. Drinking while sad doesn’t always equal alcoholism, you know. Sometimes you’re just sad and you want to get boozy and forget your troubles for a night. And sometimes you just want to go to the Emmys and get boozy with Tina Fey and Melissa McCarthy, you know?

Amy Poehler & the other funny ladies at the Emmys: lovely & elegant?

Amy Poehler

Amy Poehler made her live-television debut without Will Arnett last night, and he surely must have been crying into his beer at home. Or at least, that’s how we’d all prefer to think of him last night. Who knows. Oddly enough, Amy wore a black Stella McCartney dress, and she looks fantastic. How did that happen in Stella? The shape of the dress is very flattering, and Amy wears it well while also losing a bit of her goofiness. She’s a very underrated hottie, you know.

Amy Poehler

Amy Poehler

Kristen Wiig was a standout in Balenciaga, and she said that she had told her stylist she wanted a dress that was “ghostly.” Kristen scores a few points for creativity in not choosing a floor-length gown, and this pale-colored (is it champagne or nude?) chiffon, tea-length dress was a little bit rock and roll too. Fabrezio Moretti has been a great influence on her style.

Kristen Wiig

Tina Fey looked very pretty in her bordeaux-colored Vivienne Westwood dress. I think the shape of the dress is very flattering to Tina’s figure, but I would have opted to remove the gold trim in the boob area. A solid color would have made this an even sleeker look. Poor Tina always looks so uncomforable on the red carpet — she’s a perfect example of grinning and bearing it.

Tina Fey

Tina Fey

Jane Krakowski wore a Kaufman Franco gown, and her hair was a bit too beachy for the overall look. Then again, perhaps Jane wore her hair like that to distract from the OMG botox look that she was sharing with Nicole Kidman. Ladies, less is more.

Jane Krakowski

Jane Krakowski

Julia Louis-Dreyfus wore a merlot Vera Wang gown, and she looked very beautiful and elegant with this relatively simple dress and a center-parted chignon. If I could change anything, it would be the color because she’s clashing a bit too much with the red carpet. Black would have been a great option, as would royal blue.
