Amy Winehouse still holding on precariously, not letting go

amyholdingon.jpg
The British press lambasted Amy Winehouse for her performance at the Mobo awards Wednesday night in London, in which she seemed to forget the words to the song she was performing and looked a bit tipsy on stage. She soldiered on with her performance, mumbling the words to cover up what she couldn’t remember and still maintaining her composure. She also was said to have spit before accepting the award for best female.

I didn’t see the spitting incident in the video available, but her performance is on You Tube and it wasn’t awful, she just mumbled a lot. The crowd seemed to like her and really went crazy. You can tell that she couldn’t remember the words to the first song, “Tears Dry on Their Own,” but she did better with “Me and Mr. Jones,” her next performance.

Here’s the video, thanks to The Blemish for linking it. This was also in yesterday’s link post, I just didn’t get to cover this until today:

And here’s The Sun’s description of Amy’s performance shown above, which is generally accurate but seems a bit harsh. She is also said to have flipped out screaming backstage, but if that was true you think The Sun would have gone on about it forever. Two lines without much detail just make them seem guilty for making it up. Amy certainly seems capable of it, but wouldn’t they have more dirt on this incident if it really happened?

Then she took the microphone and appeared to spit before saying a brief thank-you.

She followed that with a shoddy rendition of Tears Dry On Their Own – forgetting half the words.

During the performance Amy twitched, pulled at her black-and-white dress and gripped the mic stand as she swayed precariously.

Her version of Me And Mr Jones was slightly better – at least she remembered the words. Trouble started before the show.

A source said: “In her dressing room she was really on edge, then flipped. She was screaming and chucking anything she could get her hands on at the people around her. She wasn’t in a good way.”

[From The Sun]

And she was said to have ordered a lot of booze backstage before her performance, along with some much-needed food to absorb some of it:

On the “essential” list handed to the O2 Arena were one large bottle of vodka, two bottles of Jack Daniels and two more bottles of Veuve Cliquot, not to mention two bottles of red Rioja wine and 48 of Heineken beer.

Amy gave a lacklustre performance of Tears Dry On Their Own and Me and Mrs Jones at the awards show at the O2 dome in London

Among her requests backstage were some signs that Winehouse is trying to bring a little health into her diet.

Along with the packs of Haribo sweets, chicken drumsticks, chocolate bars, chips and dips, she also requested fresh fruit - though that might have been for slices of lemon to pop in the vodka.

[From the Daily Mail]

And because she was at the Mobos, Amy couldn’t attend the Vodafone Live Awards on the same night - so she sent the owner of her local pub to go for her. She won the award for best female there too, and her representative said “We’re putting it behind the bar.”

Amy and her new husband/enabler, Blake Fielder Civil, had a huge argument before her performance, and Amy was said to be asking how much it would end up costing her if she divorced the creep.

There’s a recent picture of Amy sans makeup and beehive accepting a package through her window. She looks awful and is clearly being delivered drugs.

She might have ODed and hasn’t dumped her husband yet or cleaned up, but she’s still holding on by the thin thread of her talent. I care a lot more what happens to her than Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, or Lindsay Lohan. Winehouse is more talented than all three of them combined, but if she dies young or ruins her health even a little bit more the world will have to make due with what she’s already recorded.

Is Amy Winehouse cutting herself again?

top-spx-012151.jpg

Amy Winehouse sure isn’t good about keeping things hidden from the press. Other celebrities get into fights with their spouses, maybe do some drugs, or God forbid cut themselves – they do it in private. X17 isn’t generally there to grab photos. Amy Winehouse and her husband have a fight? The whole thing’s documented, because they chase each other through the street. Amy cuts herself, and then walks through London holding a blood-soaked rag. Totally normal, right?

“There are fresh concerns for troubled singer Amy Winehouse after she was spotted in the streets with blood dripping from her hand. The 23-year-old boozer was seen clutching a blood covered cloth to stop bleeding from a wound to her hand. She was photographed as she climbed out of a taxi in Chelsea, London. Winehouse, who has been open about her self-harming in the past, tried to conceal the injury in a blood-soaked hankerchief, which was dripping onto her shoes. An onlooker said: ‘Her hand looked to be in a right state, she tightly gripped it with a piece of material but you could still see the wound.’

The Rehab singer shocked fans last month after fleeing London’s Sanderson hotel in the early hours of the morning, covered in blood and scratches after a scrap with her husband. Winehouse opted out of rehab following the last bloodied encounter, fleeing Britain for a holiday with Blake in St. Lucia. The couple’s troubles looked to be behind them after she and Blake, 25, arrived hand-in-hand at her comeback performance at the Mercury Music Awards earlier in the month.

[From Metro UK]

Cutting is one of those psychological disorders I’ve never been able to fathom in the slightest. But it’s really sad and upsetting that Amy has done this for so long, and still hasn’t had help for it. Though to be fair, she’s done a lot of bad things for a long time without getting treatment. The cutting thing was always kind of weird to me, because she was so vocal about it. Part of me wonders how much of this is shown in an effort to get attention. I’m not saying she’s necessarily doing it for attention, but that she might be showing it for that reason. She’s just acting out so much in public that I have a hard time believing it’s all totally legitimate. I’m sure her issues and her pain are, but her way of handling her issues is bordering on exploiting it. Amy was recently dropped as the singer for the new “007” theme song. Producers cited her issues as the reason they didn’t want to work with her. In a short time, all that attention is going to lead to tiny apartment and a dead-end job… at best.

Amy Winehouse’s mom has her on a strict allowance

It’s been about 5 weeks since Amy Winehouse ODed, got in a bloody fight with her husband and got kicked out of a hotel, and checked in and out of rehab. She also spent a vacation in the Caribbean with her enabler husband, Blake Fielder-Civil.

Although Winehouse cancelled her entire tour after her drug overdose, citing “exhaustion,” she hasn’t had a major catastrophe in that time. She even performed at a British awards ceremony, although she is said to have stormed out when she was passed over for an award.

amysbadfinger.jpgShe showed up to see the premiere of her friend Kelly Osbourne’s play Chicago on the West End of London on Monday night and she looked well put together for her and seemed to be ok. One of her fingers was all big and red, though, and looked like it might be infected.

Her mother, a pharmacist, blabbed to a magazine that she has Amy on a budget of 300 pounds, or about $600 a week, to keep her from blowing her money on drugs. Maybe that’s why she’s been holding up, although surely she could find another way to get drugs if she wanted. Janis Winehouse said that her daughter is an addict and that she can’t convince her to stop, and that this is all she can do:

Amy Winehouse’s mother is controlling her spending by restricting her to a £300 a week budget.

Janis Winehouse, 52, is so worried about her daughter she controls the rest of her income and only gives her the pocket money to prevent her spending more on drugs…

In an interview with First magazine, she has also revealed she no longer recognises her own daughter.

She said she sends her daughter text messages saying: “Where are you, what planet are you on? Call me.”

But the pharmacist, from Barnet, north London, said: “Amy is playing Russian roulette with her health and musical gift.

“She’s lost herself. We’re not talking about my Amy. It’s not someone I recognise. She has become her own stage creation.”

She said: “I knew she was smoking marijuana but not that she was doing class A drugs until she collapsed. She won’t stop until she sees the point of stopping… when I saw her afterwards, I did not tell her to clean up, there was no point.

“I know all about class A drugs. I understand the process where the brain shuts out everything except the drugs. Talking to her about it won’t make any difference.”

[From The Daily Mail]

If Amy Winehouse’s mom wants to get through to her the best way would be to STFU and just deal with her daughter on her own. It sounds like she’s trying to save face though and let everyone know that Amy’s drug problems are not her fault. She should be thinking of her daughter, though, and not about how it makes her look. Maybe she thinks that by airing it out she’ll somehow get through to her daughter, but I can’t help but think that she’s more concerned about people thinking she’s a bad mom.

Amy is 24, so I find it hard to believe that her mother still controls her finances. Her mom isn’t her manager.

Whatever is going on with Amy, she seems to have been relatively strife-free for about a month and apart from that messed up finger she looks like she’s managing. She has an incredible voice and I hope that she takes care of her issues and can come back better than ever. Unlike Britney, she doesn’t have an inflated sense of herself or even seem to realize how talented and worthy she is. Maybe once she has a little time to get her head on straight she will be able to beat her demons and sing her heart out.

Amy Winehouse and her husband are shown outside of the theater on Monday. Thanks to WENN for these photos.

Scientists Study Rock and Roll Deaths

forever27.jpg Studies appear in the news all the time. Today scientists revealed that Rock stars are more likely than the general population to die young. The results of this study were a bit of an ‘oh, der’ moment for me.

Overall, 100 stars died between 1956 and 2005 and long-term drug or alcohol problems accounted for more than one-quarter of the deaths.

Jimmy Hendrix died after taking a cocktail of wine and nine sleeping pills; Janis Joplin and Doors frontman Jim Morrison died of suspected heroin overdoses; and Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. All were aged 27 when they died.

The findings were based on 1050 North American and European musicians and singers who rose to fame between 1956 and 1999.

These stars were featured in the All Time Top 1000 albums list, selected in 2000 and covering rock, pop, funk, R&B, electronica and new age genres.

The study also examined how long the pop stars survived once they had achieved chart success, compared with the life expectancy of the general population, when matched for age, sex, ethnicity and nationality.

It found music stars were more than twice as likely to die early and even more likely to die within five years of becoming famous.

The average age of death was 42 for North American stars and 35 for European stars.

Sydney Morning Herald

Apparently some of the deaths can be attributed to ageing rock stars not being able to afford health insurance in the US, and not getting treatment for ailments brought on by their hard partying youth.

I wonder how long Pete Doherty’s got? Except I am unsure as to whether he counts as a star. He’s a celebrity, in the manner that he is famous for doing models and cocaine, but he is not technically a rock star. Perhaps scientists could waste some time on a study into what makes someone a genuine bonafide star?

You know, if I had realised you could study the lives of rock stars, I might have done a doctorate. My friends are studying more useful things for their PhDs, like endangered lizards and how to preserve Australia’s coastline, and getting paid reasonably to do it. I would love to get paid to study Pete Doherty’s star power. Or the odds of Amy Winehouse living to be 30.

Courtney Love says Amy Winehouse is “the biggest drug user in music”

spx-007002.jpg

In pot calling the kettle black news, Courtney Love has felt in necessary to state the obvious: she’s letting us all know that “’Amy

Winehouse is the biggest drug user in music.’” She also felt it important to let the world know that the sky is blue unless it’s filled with clouds, then it’s white or a fluffy grey. When it rains, you get wet, and humans breathe air. Thanks for letting us know. Who the fuck does she think she is? First she was calling out all the thin women in Hollywood anorexics and bulimics (this from the woman who lost an estimated 40 pounds in three or four months) and now one of the most infamous drug users of all time is pointing fingers at someone else? I want to know what she’s on, because I’d love to get my hands on whatever could raise my self-esteem to such delusional levels.

“According to U.K. paper The Sun, Courtney Love claims, ‘Amy [Winehouse] does more drugs than anyone I’ve ever known.’ The friend of troubled star Owen Wilson reportedly went on to tell a pal, ‘I’ve been with lots of people when they’ve taken coke, including stars like Lindsay Lohan and Kate Moss, but I’ve never seen anyone take as much coke as Amy. Even I wasn’t that bad.’ Though Winehouse is slated to perform at today’s Mercury Prize ceremony in England, she has canceled her entire fall tour and an appearance at this coming weekend’s MTV Video Music Awards after checking into a hospital mid-August for ‘health issues.’”

[From Rolling Stone]

Since Rolling Stone printed it, I would think it’s possible Courtney Love actually said this… although they’re quoting The Sun, so who the hell knows. Courtney Love isn’t exactly known for her diplomacy, and she isn’t dripping with intelligence either, but you’d think she’d have just enough common sense not to open herself up to such criticism for being a hypocrite. Though there were those (undisputed) eating disorder remarks, so who the hell knows. Though they have completely different musical styles, I still think Amy Winehouse has a lot more talent than Courtney Love. She’s still most famous for being Kurt Cobain’s widow… well it’s sort of a tie between that and being a major delusional druggie. I’m going to assume time and age have mellowed her and she didn’t really say those things – or she’s on so many of her own drugs that she couldn’t help herself.

Amy Winehouse’s in-laws urge you not to buy her records

87858452wm.jpg

The best way to help drug-addicted Amy Winehouse and her equally drug-addicted husband, Blake Fielder-Civil? Don’t buy her records, according to her in-laws. Apparently the couple who raised a professional layabout and leach have decided they know what’s best for Amy: don’t support her career. They don’t make any mention of what anyone should do to punish their son Blake. But it is hard to take something away from someone who hasn’t earned anything.

“The father-in-law of singer Amy Winehouse said Tuesday that fans should stop buying her records to force her to seek help for drug addiction. Giles Fielder-Civil said Winehouse and his son, Blake Fielder-Civil, were in ‘abject denial’ about their problems. He said he believed the couple had used cocaine, crack cocaine and heroin. “‘I think they believe they are recreational users of drugs and they are in control,’ Fielder-Civil told British Broadcasting Corp. radio. ‘Clearly they are addicts.’ He said fans should send a message ‘that her addiction and her behavior are not acceptable. Perhaps it is time to stop buying records,’ Fielder-Civil said. ‘It’s a possibility, to send that message.’

“Giles Fielder-Civil said Winehouse’s record label, Island, should be more ‘pro-active in helping the couple to get better’ and suggested the singer not be given awards until she cleaned up her act. ‘We shouldn’t be condoning her addiction by rewarding her with these awards’” he said.”

[From the Washington Post]

From most of the things that have been printed about Blake’s parents, they’ve been less-than-helpful with regarding their son’s problems and his negative influence on Amy. They’ve repeatedly denied that he even has a problem, and have constantly put the blame on Winehouse. Suddenly they understand he’s a drug addict, but again, the solution is to put pressure on Amy. I understand that his ultimate point (though he doesn’t say it, but let’s assume this is what he’s getting at) is to take away the source of funding for the drugs. But let’s be realistic, Amy’s made a lot of money, and if everyone stopped buying her records today, she and Blake would still be able to get drugs. Poor addicts manage to do it everyday, so I’m sure they’d find a way. That doesn’t treat their addiction, and it’s just a ploy to get publicity for himself. If he really cares about them, he needs to shut up, find his kid, and get him into a rehab facility far, far away. Blabbing to the press doesn’t help anything, and it just demonstrates what an idiot the guy is. He’s never shown any understanding that Blake has some responsibility for their massively messed up situation. Though it kind of explains how he got that way.

Amy Winehouse gets into a bloody fight with her husband

87858119wm.jpg

Amy Winehouse and got into a massive – and physical – fight with her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil on Friday morning, and there’s bloody, graphic pictures – and a host of witnesses – to prove it. The pair dropped out of rehab for the second time a few days ago and have been holed up in a posh Soho hotel in London. Late Thursday night, Amy left the hotel, ran across the street, and casually “hugged” a girl. The girl slipped Amy a package that we’re all assuming contained drugs. Keep in mind she has about 100 paparazzi following her all the time, so it’s not like she could do something like that and think it would go unnoticed. A few hours later, screaming was heard from their room, and after a while Amy ran out. She was bloody, and bruised, with scrapes and swollen knuckles. Her clothing was torn and bloody in places – even her shoes. She ran to the elevator, where Blake followed her. Even though there was someone else in the elevator, he screamed at her as she cowered in the corner. When they got to the lobby Amy jetted out of the hotel and flagged down some random driver, who drove her a few miles and dropped her off at a convenience store. Blake chased the car and then wandered through the streets of London calling for her at four in the morning. Eventually he reached her on her cell phone, and the two reconnected and went back to the hotel together – but not before the press got some crystal clear photos of the mess.

“Bloody and battered after ripping into each other during a drug-fuelled row, this is Amy Winehouse, the cream of Britain’s young singing talent, and her junkie husband Blake Fielder-Civil. Stumbling around the streets of London at 4.45am, the pair bore the wounds of an almighty row which spiralled wildly out of control. ..The fight in the early hours of yesterday left 23-year-old Miss Winehouse with blood staining her pink ballet shoes and the knees of her jeans. Purple bruises could be seen on the side of her neck and her knuckles were swollen. But her 24-year-old husband appeared to have come off a lot worse - with cuts and scratches on both cheeks and around his neck.

“…The singer returned to her hotel room and within hours other guests complained of raised voices, clattering furniture and screaming. Shortly afterwards, the concierge was called. Miss Winehouse, who has a history of self-harming, had asked for medical assistance to patch up cuts on her arm. At around 2.30am, said guests, the fight sounded like it had restarted - then Miss Winehouse was seen sprinting down the corridor to the lift, pursued by her badly bleeding husband.

“The couple then dashed into the street. An eyewitness said: ‘Just after 3am, Amy came sprinting out and down the road. She was in a real state of panic. Blake was running after her, but couldn’t catch up. Amy was so hell-bent on getting away from him that she ran into the middle of the street and flagged down a random car that happened to be full of girls. She was saying, ‘Quickly, I have to get in, I have to get away, please help me’. Her voice was breaking, you could tell she was scared. The car drove off at speed and ended up about a mile away at Charing Cross station. Amy got out and went into a 24-hour shop to buy cigarettes. She was looking completely out of her head. Blake ran after the car for a while. He spent the next half hour or so wandering around in a daze with blood over his face, looking in doorways for her, shouting her name out. Eventually, he got through to her on the mobile. There were a lot of tears and shouting, but they calmed down and met up at around 4am and slowly walked back to the hotel arm-in-arm. They got back at 4.45am.’”

[From the Daily Mail]

You can view some of the more graphic pictures of their fight on the Daily Mail’s website. It really is clear that Amy’s life is spiraling out of control. Sometimes it seems like she almost wants it to, because she’s so public and dramatic about it. Why get your drugs publicly when paparazzi are camped outside your hotel room when you’re probably able to get them delivered to the room? Why drink at pubs all the time when you can drink at home? I’m sure her problems are more than real, but it seems like she wants them to play out in a public setting. Apparently the pair’s parents arranged another meeting (intervention) within a few hours of their fight. She and Blake left the hotel - a little cleaned up – with Amy carrying a picture of their wedding. Hopefully on their way back to rehab –separately.

Picture note by JayBird: Header image of Amy and Blake leaving their hotel after their fight. Splash captions the picture: “Amy Winehouse leaves by the back door of her hotel in a blacked-out car and books into a new hotel. Her husband shows the cuts on his face from the big fight they allegedly had the night before. Amy is carrying the picture of her wedding under her arm so they must have made up.” Thanks to Splash Photos for the image.

Amy Winehouse screws North America

87852845wm.jpg

So in news that isn’t exactly all that shocking, Amy Winehouse has officially canceled all of her North American tour. Rumblings have been going on for quite a while, and to be fair we all assumed she would, just because she’s that way. And she has. Even before the whole rehab in-and-out debacle, it was pretty much assumed she’d cancel her shows because she was so drunk all the time that bookies were actually placing odds on her showing up. Of course her PR people are vague – is she canceling because she’ll be in rehab, or canceling because she’ll be too plastered? At last check, Amy was out on the lose again, but that could change at any moment. I feel like we need some type of Amy Winehouse alert system here.

“‘Due to the rigors involved in touring, Amy Winehouse has been advised to postpone her upcoming September U.S. and Canadian tour dates,’ the British singer’s publicist, Tracy Miller, said in a statement Tuesday.

“‘Amy’s European and U.K. tour dates in October and November remain in place. Plans are being made to reschedule her U.S. tour for early 2008. Until then, Amy has been ordered to rest and is working with medical professionals to address her health.’

Last week, it was announced that the 23-year-old was canceling all her August performances due to ‘severe exhaustion.’ While British tabloids have claimed the retro-soul singer has been in rehab due to drug abuse, her spokeswoman has denied such claims.”

[From AM New York]

You know what can improve your health when you have a drinking problem? Going to rehab and staying there. Divorcing your loser, enabling, drug mule husband. That’s obviously pretty easy to say from the outside looking in. We’ve all gone through hard times, and sometimes it’s rather embarrassing to look back on them. It’s going to be rather mortifying when Amy looks back on this someday. Though at this point I’m really just hoping she gets to “someday.”

Picture note by JayBird: Thanks to Splash for the pic, from Amy’s first escape on August 16th.

Amy Winehouse continues the spiral; leaves rehab again

adb-013980.jpg

Amy Winehouse’s issues-on-top-of-issues continued this weekend, as she and husband Blake Fielder-Civil left rehab for the second time. No, not on a rehab facility sponsored country outing to go look at some sheep or whatever it is they do in the English countryside. Nor is she leaving to “pick up a guitar” (because I’m sure no one could have done that for her, right?) and stop at a few pubs (I’m pretty sure rehab facilities encourage you to go to pubs and get plastered in the first week of treatment). Amy hasn’t made any excuses – yet. The couple appears to have left the Causeway clinic in Essex after a series of fights.

“Brit singer Amy Winehouse has walked out of rehab for the second time, after a string of rows with hubby Blake Fielder-Civil. The ‘Rehab’ star quit The Causeway clinic in Essex on August 19, just a day after she returned to the facility. Winehouse and her hubby had said that they left for London to fetch a guitar.

“The couple’s constant fights were spoiling the centre’s ambience and a source said that though Winehouse would be welcomed back, Fielder-Civil might not get a similar reception. The source added that everyone is worried that the two will get back to their druggy habits.

“‘It is supposed to be a peaceful backdrop to help people deal with their problems. But Amy and Blake kept rowing and spoiling the ambience,’ the Sun quoted the source, as saying. ‘While Amy would be welcomed back with open arms, I’m not sure they’d say the same for Blake. ‘

“‘Everyone is really worried that if they are let loose in London again they’ll just go straight back to their old druggy habits. ‘”

[From Daily India]

It appears that Blake is making things very difficult for everyone around Amy, including staff at the clinic, and at the hospital where she was treated for an overdose. Amy’s mom, Janis, gave a very long interview to the Daily Mail on Saturday. It sounds like she’s given up on Amy to a certain extent, or at least distanced herself emotionally. When the subject of Blake came up, Janis Winehouse responded, “I think it’s a case of the less said the better.” I have yet to figure out what the guy brings to the table. According to Daily India’s article, he’s really upset Amy’s family and general staff that have had to deal with him. I’m really curious to hear what he’s done that aggravates everyone. All they say are generic things that could mean almost anything.

“The source also said that Fielder-Civil’s behaviour shows why the soul star’s family wants her to seek ‘help without him’.

“’He upset people in The Causeway with his behaviour. It was the same when she was in hospital. He really upset the staff and wasn’t very welcome there either,’ the source added.

“’They spent half their time arguing rather than concentrating on the job in hand. Of course it must be stressful being with your partner while trying to sort out something so personal and difficult.’

“’But this just shows why the family are so desperate for her to get help without him.’

“Winehouse and her hubby checked into rehab after a massive showdown involving the couple’s families. “

[From Daily India]

I don’t know much about rehab, but I’ve never heard of someone doing it with their partner. I imagine that article has it spot on – it’s a very personal process. I would think that bringing the drama and complications of a relationship so directly into rehab would make an already difficult process nearly impossible. I’m sure people’s relationships are at issue no matter what – but going there with your spouse? What if your spouse is really the problem? It seems like a lot of sources are hinting that Blake is there to try to keep Amy from getting better.

Picture note by JayBird: Here’s Amy at a Camden magazine shop this past weekend. According to Splash, “Astonished onlookers witnessed the troubled singer whip a magazine off a shop shelf in Camden, North London, and leave, apparently without paying. After paying for a few items, the Back to Black star furtively glanced over her shoulder before grabbing a copy of the New Musical Express from the shelf and leaving.” Image thanks to Splash Photos. Amy Winehouse out of rehab to get guitar, visit pub, & steal magazine, now back in

Talented self-destructive singer Amy Winehouse was out of rehab yesterday after just 48 hours in an Essex facility in with her bad-news husband, Blake Fielder-Civil. Everyone was saying that she couldn’t hack sobriety and wasn’t ready to conquer her demons, but her husband claimed in an interview that they left rehab just to go get a guitar despite the fact that they were spotted in their local pub soon afterwards. In an interview with Britain’s Radio One, Blake said that everything was blown out of proportion and that Amy is committed to finishing rehab. He also said that the papers made up quotes from his mother about the drugs that Amy was taking at the time of her overdose:

“We only came back to get a guitar, but of course in the paper that’s interpreted as we’re both so weak we left after three days. It’s the inevitable way the papers are trying to put you down when you’re trying to do something positive.

“The main thing is that me and Amy are getting better. Don’t worry, she’s being looked after. We’re going back to this retreat. She’s determined to get well.

“It’s not as bad as everyone thinks but she’s fine, she’s loved and looked after.”

Asked about reports of the couple’s drug addictions, Fielder-Civil said: “I wouldn’t believe it. There’s a few problems there but certainly nothing of the magnitude that my mum was falsely quoted as saying.”

His mother Georgette was reported as saying that Winehouse confessed to heroin and cocaine addiction and told her: “It’s silly, but you just get carried away.”

[From Ireland Online]

Winehouse is also quoted as saying she’s fine and that she’s gained “half a stone,” which is 7 pounds. Maybe that’s why she’s clutching a pair of new pants in the header photo, although her jeans are still falling off her hips to reveal most of her underwear.

Amy and her enabler husband popped into their local pub right after they got back to Amy’s Camden home, but were only there for 40 minutes according to reports. If she was downing shot after shot in that time period it would have been reported, so maybe she figures a coupla pints aren’t going to do much damage considering what she’s normally up to. Still, there’s always the bathroom for a quick fix.

Blake told The Mirror that Amy’s collapse wasn’t his fault and that he loves her and just wants to protect her. “I just want everyone to know that I love her so so much. She’s so precious to me, she’s my wife and I want to take care of her, that’s why I’m taking her back to rehab. We only came back to London to get a guitar and then we’re going straight back. It’s not because we were too weak to stay.”

The guy sounds charming, even if he does look like one of Pete Doherty’s best mates.

Amy was alternately said to be out of rehab for a brain scan that was ordered by doctors following her drug overdose last week, during which she suffered from seizures. There were no sightings of Amy at the hospital getting the scan, though, and the source for that story is The Sun so I would bet it’s pure speculation.

Amy was photographed out at a local convenience store buying some items and then stealing a NME magazine! Here’s the photo description for these pictures from yesterday, thanks to Splash News:

Is this the moment when Amy Winehouse finally loses the plot? Astonished onlookers witnessed the troubled singer whip a magazine off a shop shelf in Camden, North London, and leave, apparently without paying. After paying for a few items, the Back to Black star furtively glanced over her shoulder before grabbing a copy of the New Musical Express from the shelf and leaving.

Thankfully Amy and her pilfered magazine are now back in that Essex rehab, The Causeway clinic, and despite her protestations before checking into rehab that she’d be back to work this week all of her tour dates this month have been canceled.

Thanks to SplashNews for these pictures.
