Amy Winehouse out of rehab to get guitar, visit pub, & steal magazine, now back in

Talented self-destructive singer Amy Winehouse was out of rehab yesterday after just 48 hours in an Essex facility in with her bad-news husband, Blake Fielder-Civil. Everyone was saying that she couldn’t hack sobriety and wasn’t ready to conquer her demons, but her husband claimed in an interview that they left rehab just to go get a guitar despite the fact that they were spotted in their local pub soon afterwards. In an interview with Britain’s Radio One, Blake said that everything was blown out of proportion and that Amy is committed to finishing rehab. He also said that the papers made up quotes from his mother about the drugs that Amy was taking at the time of her overdose:

“We only came back to get a guitar, but of course in the paper that’s interpreted as we’re both so weak we left after three days. It’s the inevitable way the papers are trying to put you down when you’re trying to do something positive.

“The main thing is that me and Amy are getting better. Don’t worry, she’s being looked after. We’re going back to this retreat. She’s determined to get well.

“It’s not as bad as everyone thinks but she’s fine, she’s loved and looked after.”

Asked about reports of the couple’s drug addictions, Fielder-Civil said: “I wouldn’t believe it. There’s a few problems there but certainly nothing of the magnitude that my mum was falsely quoted as saying.”

His mother Georgette was reported as saying that Winehouse confessed to heroin and cocaine addiction and told her: “It’s silly, but you just get carried away.”

[From Ireland Online]

Winehouse is also quoted as saying she’s fine and that she’s gained “half a stone,” which is 7 pounds. Maybe that’s why she’s clutching a pair of new pants in the header photo, although her jeans are still falling off her hips to reveal most of her underwear.

Amy and her enabler husband popped into their local pub right after they got back to Amy’s Camden home, but were only there for 40 minutes according to reports. If she was downing shot after shot in that time period it would have been reported, so maybe she figures a coupla pints aren’t going to do much damage considering what she’s normally up to. Still, there’s always the bathroom for a quick fix.

Blake told The Mirror that Amy’s collapse wasn’t his fault and that he loves her and just wants to protect her. “I just want everyone to know that I love her so so much. She’s so precious to me, she’s my wife and I want to take care of her, that’s why I’m taking her back to rehab. We only came back to London to get a guitar and then we’re going straight back. It’s not because we were too weak to stay.”

The guy sounds charming, even if he does look like one of Pete Doherty’s best mates.

Amy was alternately said to be out of rehab for a brain scan that was ordered by doctors following her drug overdose last week, during which she suffered from seizures. There were no sightings of Amy at the hospital getting the scan, though, and the source for that story is The Sun so I would bet it’s pure speculation.

Amy was photographed out at a local convenience store buying some items and then stealing a NME magazine! Here’s the photo description for these pictures from yesterday, thanks to Splash News:

Is this the moment when Amy Winehouse finally loses the plot? Astonished onlookers witnessed the troubled singer whip a magazine off a shop shelf in Camden, North London, and leave, apparently without paying. After paying for a few items, the Back to Black star furtively glanced over her shoulder before grabbing a copy of the New Musical Express from the shelf and leaving.

Thankfully Amy and her pilfered magazine are now back in that Essex rehab, The Causeway clinic, and despite her protestations before checking into rehab that she’d be back to work this week all of her tour dates this month have been canceled.

Winehouse leaves rehab after 48 hours

87844396alteredwm.JPG

Amy Winehouse has got to be the most troubled musician around these days. You could make an argument for Pete Doherty, but he’s wasted so many of his brain cells that his talent is pretty much gone. Amy was finally convinced by her family to get some much needed help and enter into rehab this weekend, after overdosing on a cocktail of drugs August 8th. She agreed to go, but only if husband Blake Fielder-Civil joined her. This didn’t seem to be because Blake has massive drug problems of his own, but more because Amy can’t really be without him. Blake agreed, but quickly changed his mind, and brought Amy along with him.

“Amy’s decision to leave rehab followed a huge rift between her husband and the rest of her family. Dad Mitch and others close to Amy are desperate to get her away from him — because they believe he will stop her getting treatment. He has even looked into getting a restraining order against him.

“Blake, 25, wanted Amy to return home with him and yesterday looked to have won the battle. The newlyweds returned to their Camden home by helicopter from The Causeway clinic in Essex.

“A source close to the pair said: ‘When Amy got to The Causeway everyone breathed a sigh of relief. She was supposed to stay for a few weeks and sort herself out. But after a couple of decent meals she insisted she was fit to go home. She wanted to leave on Tuesday evening. People close to her are devastated. But Blake wants her to return to normality — and we all know what their normality is. They’ve even been planning to meet friends in Camden. It’s madness.’

“Another source close to Amy said: ‘Mitch is desperate for Amy to get some proper lengthy treatment but she’ll only do it with Blake. Mitch even looked to see if he could get a restraining order against him but legally it’s impossible.’

“Amy was rushed to hospital at 1am last Wednesday after a three-day bender. She spent a few nights in a country hotel without Blake — on her parents’ orders — but he joined them after she phoned him. Blake had a hit of heroin delivered, which he and Amy took last Friday. Mitch found out and had a huge bust-up with Blake’s dad.”

[From the Sun]

I’m sure Amy Winehouse had problems before she met Blake, but he seems to have made things so much worse. He’s not just an enabler, he’s an encourager. He supplies her with drugs, even though she almost died a week ago. That’s not exactly a healthy relationship. It sounds like he likes his drugs, and Amy can afford to buy them for him, and it’s more fun for him if everyone’s wasted. I’m not trying to put the blame solely on him, but I think it sounds like he’s a huge part of the problem. As one of Amy’s friends pointed out, “’Blake isn’t taking this seriously enough. She was never anything like this bad before she got back together with him.’” Apparently Amy’s father is trying to see if there’s a legal way to force her into rehab. Something tells me that’s not the greatest idea, since she’s a grown woman and that would likely just create resentment. And she’s not going to change until she is ready to. You would think overdosing would make her ready, but apparently not. But I doubt rehab would do any good if she were forced into it. I still think it could make a big difference if they could get her wasteful, lazy, scum husband away.

Amy Winehouse finally enters rehab?

wenn149686123wm.jpg

There are so many conflicting reports about Amy Winehouse, but it looks like she finally got her ass to rehab. Does anyone else think she was refusing to go because she had to stay in character with her song? According to The Mirror, Amy and her husband, layabout Blake Fielder-Civil have entered rehab together in the U.S. They didn’t speculate about which rehab facility they went to, but I like to imagine them scrubbing toilets with Lindsay Lohan in Utah. But that’s probably not the case though. After Amy was admitted to the hospital a week ago due to “taking a cocktail of heroin, cocaine, ecstasy and the horse tranquillizer ketamine” she and Blake checked into the Four Seasons hotel in Hook, Hampshire.… not exactly rehab. However two days after having her stomach pumped, Winehouse’s best friend Juliette Ashby caught the two smoking heroin in their hotel suite. This was followed by what appear to be an intervention for both husband and wife by their collective parents.

“Amy’s taxi driver dad Mitch ‘flipped’ when he heard - and next day they were joined by worried Mitch, wife Janis, Blake’s stepfather Giles Fielder-Civil and mother Georgette. During the row, Mitch grabbed Giles by the throat and ‘threatened to rip his head off.’

“The source said: ‘It was only when Amy saw her family falling apart that she realised she had to do something. She confessed that she and Blake had drug problems and had to have treatment together.’

“Mitch is also said to have demanded that Blake be fitted with an implant to curb his drug-taking. Blake refused but agreed to join Amy on a drug counselling and treatment programme.

[From the Mirror]

It’s not surprising that Blake Fielder-Civil has a drug problem. I’m not sure if it’s actually been written, but it seems to have been generally assumed by just about everyone, since he seemed to have no problem with Amy’s drug use. He was beyond an enabler, so it makes sense that it’s because he has a problem himself. They seem like such a bad match for each other, and very unhealthy together. Amy obviously had problems before they were married, but they seemed to have tripled since then.

“’They both admitted taking cocaine and heroin. But they denied they had been injecting heroin. At one point, both Amy and Blake stripped off in front of Georgette to prove they had not been using needles. But they now realise that if they don’t get help now, they will both die young. This is their watershed, their wake-up call.

“’Both families were terrified by the state Amy and Blake had got themselves in and decided enough was enough. It was the first time Blake also admitted he had a drug problem. It was a brave step for both of them to agree to treatment and their families are very proud of them.’

“The source added: ‘They are both to blame. They are both as bad as each other. But at least they have admitted they have got a problem and are taking action to help each other.’

“Before flying off on Saturday, Blake phoned his mother and said: ‘Please stop crying, everything will be OK.’

“Amy told her mother-in-law: ‘I’m so sorry. I love you. Please don’t worry.’

“Last night they were spending their third night at the clinic, where they are sharing a bedroom. They have agreed to have their mobile phones confiscated and to have no contact with the outside world. Amy has also agreed that her career must be put on hold, despite her desire to get back on the road and perform.”

[From the Mirror]

I really don’t believe that they are both “’taking action to help each other.’” That’d be nice, but from all the stories I’ve read, it doesn’t seem like Blake cares a rip about Amy. Maybe he has too many problems of his own, it’s hard to say since nothing has really been written about him that’s separate from Amy. But it seems like he’s just there to go along for the ride as long as possible, until all of the resources (drugs, money, Amy’s talent) are drained. I hope this rehab story is correct, but if so, I hope that as a bare minimum, Amy and Blake aren’t together during their time in rehab. Sharing a bedroom with the person you smoked heroin with the week before seems like a really bad idea. Maybe that’s just me.

Picture note by JayBird: Here’s what Amy looked like 5 years ago performing at HMV, Oxford Street in London. VERY different. Not that there’s anything wrong with changing your look… but it’s more than a beehive and heavier eyeliner.

Amy Winehouse is at a hotel, not rehab, & says she’ll be back working today

amyrehab1.jpg
Illustrations thanks to Pretty On The Outside
Amy Winehouse has not spent the past few days following her drug overdose at a rehab, as was previously reported. She was said to have checked into the Priory clinic on Thursday, but those reports are false. As Jaybird mentioned on Friday, she has been at the Four Seasons hotel in Hook, Hants England ever since she was released from the hospital following a drug and alcohol overdose on Wednesday that made her collapse in seizures.

She is said to be vomiting and unable to keep food down following her medical scare. What’s worse is that Amy supposedly thinks she will die young.

Last night a family friend said: “Amy has told her mum she is often suicidal and she knows she will die young.

“Janis [Amy’s mom] and the rest of the family persuaded Amy to go to the hotel to recover after her overdose. They hope that by getting her out of the scene around Camden she will be able to see what she is doing to herself.

“But Amy is determined that she will NOT go to rehab…”

Amy’s dad Mitch is demanding minders protect Amy 24 hours a day so she can’t get access to drugs. He also wants her record label to scrap tour commitments for the rest of the year.

[From The Sun]

And Amy and her husband, layabout Blake Fielder-Civil, were seen drinking at the hotel.

Amy’s friends are rumored to dislike Blake and to widely believe he is dragging her down. He is the only person who is able to get through to her, they claim.

News of the World has a bunch of exclusive quotes from Amy who supposedly talked to the rag while she was eating breakfast alone on Saturday. These quotes are too effusive and revealing to be true:

Sitting alone at breakfast yesterday Amy told us: “It was just crazy—one of the most terrifying moments of my life.

“I don’t know how to explain what happened. I don’t really know myself.

“I can’t remember what I looked like. I couldn’t recognise myself. It was terrifying—I was terrified.

“I was so out of control. It just happened. It shocked me. I’m sorry—I just don’t know what got into me.”

Wearing black shorts and a T-shirt and without her trademark beehive hairdo or black make-up, Amy, 23, said: “I never want to feel that way again.

“I’ve scared myself this time. I was all over the place. I know things have got to change. I have to sort myself out.”

Picking at a croissant, the painfully skinny star then put on a brave face and said: “I’m fine. I’ll be back at work on Monday. I’m fine, honest.”

[From News of the World]

While earlier reports had Amy injesting a cocktail of drugs including coke, pills, ketamine and various booze that led up to her overdose, The Sun adds smoking heroin to that deadly list.

At least Amy has been seen by doctors and a psychiatrist since checking into a hotel instead of rehab. She must have been serious about the lyrics in her hit song, and I hope it won’t lead to damage that is impossible to reverse, even if Amy is dead-set on it. Do you think there is hope for her? She seems like she’s incredibly stubborn, but I bet if someone could convince her to clean up she could do it with the same conviction with which she’s going down the tubes.

Amy Winehouse’s 3 day bender

spx-004823.jpg

The details of Amy Winehouse’s downward spiral have been published by the Sun, and it’s really sad to read. Before she overdosed and had to get her stomach pumped in a London hospital, Amy went on a two or three day bender (the Sun says 3 days, but their timeline seems to add up to about 2 days), downing drugs and booze. As soon as she returned from Lollapalooza, she started drinking and snorting cocaine.

“Amy, whose hits include Rehab and Back To Black, began the bender at 1pm on Monday within hours of arriving in Heathrow from a music festival in Chicago. The skeletal star swigged vodka and lemonades while Blake [Fielder-Civil, Amy’s husband of two months], 25, sank pints of Stella Artois.

“Local Lesley McCormack, 26, said: ‘Both Amy and Blake made repeated visits to the toilets during the two hours they were here. She went into both the ladies’ and men’s loos. I suspect they were taking cocaine. They were with another woman. Amy ordered a club sandwich, asking for tuna instead of chicken — but she never ate it.’”

[From the Sun]

The three left around 3 o’clock in the afternoon. Around 10 o’clock that evening Amy and Blake visited their local pub in Camden, The Hawley Arms.

“They were spotted by a fan. He said: ‘She spent the evening knocking back Jack Daniel’s. They were acting quite strangely. Amy was backwards and forwards to the toilets all night.’

“The binge continued into Tuesday. A cafe owner near the couple’s home said: ‘She came in during the afternoon and was very jittery. She wanted everything done now. She said she didn’t know what she wanted but she said she wanted it hot. She was really out of it. I’ve only noticed her here in the last two months and she’s normally very nice and comes straight in and goes straight out — but on Tuesday it was different.’

“Hours later, Amy — who had just been nominated for three MTV awards — started convulsing.”

[From the Sun]

A friend of Amy’s husband said, “’It was like she had pressed the self-destruct button. She was downing coke, pills and ketamine, vodka and Jack Daniel’s. Even Amy says she will be dead within one year.’” After that she was taken to London’s University College Hospital, where she was given a shot of adrenaline and had her stomach pumped. It was originally reported that she had checked into London’s famous Priory rehab clinic, but it turns out that’s not the case. Instead she’s holed up in a London hotel instead, according to pretty reliable NME magazine. If this didn’t get through to Amy, I’m not sure what will. Getting your stomach pumped is a really traumatic process, and would scare a lot of people into at least taking their addiction more seriously and checking into rehab. I’m not saying it’d scare a person out of their bad behavior right then and there, but most people would check into rehab. Normally I’d make a lot of jokes, since “Rehab” is the title of her most famous song, but this just makes me way too sad for her. Truly, canceling your concerts and being so unprofessional is terrible, but she’s moved from terrible to tragic now.

Amy Winehouse’s exhaustion was a drug overdose

In sad but not shocking news, Amy Winehouse’s hospitalization for “exhaustion” turned out to be the celebrity synonym for exhaustion, “drug overdose.”

The tiny hard-partying singer, who has disappointed countless fans by repeatedly missing gigs and now canceling the rest of her tour, was dragged into London’s University College Hospital yesterday by a female friend and her husband. She was rushed in for treatment after receptionists saw the state she was in.

Her stomach was pumped and she was given a shot of adrenaline.

Tattooed Amy, whose stick-thin frame and sallow complexion has worried friends and fans alike, was given an adrenaline shot in the early hours drama. And she had her stomach pumped…

“She was with a female friend and a bloke who I think was her husband. He was wearing a trilby.

“They came in and went straight up to the reception desk. Her friends looked really worried about her.

“The bloke was holding her up because she couldn’t really stand on her own. Her girlfriend was doing all the talking and the receptionist seemed to be listening very carefully.

“That’s when I realised Amy must have been really ill because although there was a big crowd of people in the waiting area, she was rushed straight through.

“A nurse came over and helped Amy into the main part of the hospital.”

[From The Sun]

The Sun notes that Amy’s new husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, jokes about crack use on his myspace and lists his occupation as “rent boy.”

There was a blind item yesterday that suggested that Winehouse was doing crack in the bathroom at Lollapalooza. Before the news came out that she suffered from “exhaustion” I was speculating that she might die young. It’s not something that you want to think about, but this woman seems hell bent on self destruction. Commentor h said on that post:

it’s amazing what behavior will be excused because someone has talent. will anyone be surprised when she overdoses?

I wonder if they’ll mention Winehouse’s overdose in the October issue of Vogue? She’s due to be featured on the cover.

Amy Winehouse suffers “exhaustion,” cancels rest of tour

amywinehouse1.jpg

Our dear little Amy Winehouse was rushed to the hospital this morning, amid much fanfare. No one seems to know why, but her very creative PR rep searched the annals of medicine to come up with the most creative malady known to the entertainment world: Exhaustion. That’s right, Amy Winehouse is suffering from one of the most extreme, debilitating, and life-altering cases of exhaustion ever known to man. Doctors really should study her and write the case up for publication in every known medical journal. Because truly, this is a case of unparalleled severity. Most shocking is that Winehouse will have to cancel the rest of her well-attended tour.

“TMZ has learned that Amy Winehouse was rushed to the hospital this morning after some sort of incident.

“Winehouse’s rep confirms to TMZ that the tatted up singer was taken to a London hospital and treated for ‘exhaustion.’ The rep says Winehouse has since been discharged and is currently at home. She has been ordered to take ‘complete rest.’

“When asked what prompted this, the rep would only say ‘it came about quickly.’ No other details were available.

”Winehouse’s rep says that the singer’s grueling world tour schedule is most likely to blame.

”For now, no no no more shows for Amy. They’ve all been canceled.”

[From TMZ]

Ooh Ooh, look how surprised I’m not. Why won’t anyone explain to Amy Winehouse that too much alcohol + too many drugs – enough food = exhaustion. It’ a pretty consistent equation. I’m pretty sure that if you wanted to sit around and do some math, you could calculate the average of how many shows Amy Winehouse has actually shown up for, and it’d be around 50%, max. You might think to yourself, “Hey, 50% is half, that isn’t that bad.” But let me take you back to your college days and remind you that 50% is an F. So I’m giving Amy Winehouse a big F on life. Or at least on creativity.

I should give a shout out to all the commentors who bought tickets. I’m pulling for you.

Blind Item: singer on crack

I don’t usually run these, but I couldn’t resist this one from The NY Daily News:

Which troubled, hard-partying Lollapalooza performer cleared out a bathroom over the weekend in Chicago and then smoked what our spy-in-the-stall swears was a crack pipe?

Here are pictures of Amy Winehouse performing at Lollapalooza. At least she made it there. I know this story could be about just about any rock star, but she’s the first one that came to mind.

There’s a story that she’s been approached to design a clothing line multiple times. Wife beaters and dirty cut off shorts for all.

And amazingly, Amy is going to be on the cover of Vogue in September October. Female First reports that Anna Wintour ordered that Amy be put on the cover after hearing her album.

She may not be a fashion or lifestyle role model, but the girl sure can sing. Her music is incredible, and it’s refreshing to hear her on the radio. Hopefully she’ll hang in there and won’t die young. I know that’s a horrible thing to say, but she seems rather bent on self destruction. She has said that she would like to have children soon, so maybe she’ll find a new purpose in life and will be able to clean up.

Thanks to PR Photos for these pictures.

Bookies place odds on Amy Winehouse

lmk-001010.jpg
Amy Winehouse, the sobriety challenged British singer, has canceled so many shows in the last month that bookies are actually placing odds on her showing up to her concerts. Bookies normally stick to football games and American Idol competitions. They generally don’t bet on a person sucking. But it appears that, thanks to the unreliable, alcohol-challenged Amy Winehouse, now they do.

“Following a string of cancellations bookies are now offering stakes as to whether Amy Winehouse will show up at her forthcoming gigs.

Winehouse recently cancelled performances at Oxygen in Dublin, T in the Park in Scotland and Summer Pops in Liverpool citing “exhaustion” - although she was spotted drinking in a North London pub.

William Hill – one of the countries biggest bookmakers– is currently offering odds of 1/2 on Winehouse fulfilling her commitment to appear at the Eden Sessions at the Eden Project in Cornwall on July 17th.

A spokesperson for William Hill said: “Amy has cancelled too many gigs for us not to give out odds. The concert is next week so she’ll have to sort herself out for that and I can’t see it happening,” reports NME.”

[From Gigwise]

According to Perez Hilton, Amy canceled her show at Holland’s North Sea Jazz Festival this weekend. But according to the festival’s website, her concert time was simply pushed back. I’m assuming she did perform (surprisingly) because otherwise there’d be a million articles about it already, and a lot of money would be changing hands.

The Sun is running a “Wino Watch” to keep tabs of Amy’s partying and comparing it to canceled shows.

She then partied backstage into the wee hours with SADIE FROST and JACK OSBOURNE. But my snaps show her the next day, clearly feeling unwell. Amy held her tum as she dashed to use a cafe toilet.

Earlier, she told her driver to pull over as she gagged. Later she was spotted slumped at the counter of a takeaway.

Hardly the way to battle that exhaustion, eh, Amy?

Yesterday Amy jetted out to Holland. Well, I hope it’s a sign she’s fit and well – and ready to entertain her paying fans.”

[From The Sun Online]

Winehouse did cancel a fourth performance last week.

Amy Winehouse has cancelled her fourth concert this week after succumbing to a grueling live schedule.

The soul star was due to play a show in St. Peolten with the Beastie Boys, The Prodigy and The Roots, but that appearance went the way of a show in Austria, as well as festival slots at T in The Park in Scotland, the Oxegen Festival in Ireland and Liverpool Summer Pops, as the 23-year-old succumbed to exhaustion and was ordered to rest by doctors.

[From Sound Generator]

Let’s talking about grueling live schedules for a minute here. Ten concerts in a month? Grueling (I’m told… admittedly I haven’t been on tour in a while). Ten canceled concerts in a month, with a handful still taking place? Not so grueling. You know what is grueling? Drinking too much alcohol all the time. Especially when it looks like you weigh about 98 pounds, and a good 20 of that is your beehive hair weave. Amy Winehouse, listen to me. You are so awesome, but you are also an awesome mess! I don’t think you really understand that people are not going to keep coming back forever, and you only get so many second chances, no matter how much talent you have. Concert tickets cost a lot. CDs don’t sell like they used to, so performance revenue is pretty important if a girl wants to have enough money to buy her alcohol. So think of it like this: if want to be able to keep drinking, you’re going to have to show up to enough performances to get the money to drink. Convoluted logic, I know, but it seems to be the only way to get you on stage.

Thanks to PRPhotos for these pictures.
