Angelina Jolie dresses like a beachy Morticia for Galapagos family vacation

I have no idea why I didn’t get around to covering these photos yesterday, but hey, better late than never. These are pics of Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and all of their kids (right? Do a head count) in the Galapagos Islands on April 23, Monday. The photo set included blurry shots of the family getting on a plane, which makes sense because I don’t even think the Family Jolie-Pitt is still in South America at this point. So these photos are days late… just enjoy.

Radar says that the Jolie-Pitts toured Santa Cruz Island, which are probably the photos on the little boat, I’m guessing. Random thoughts:

*I would love to know more about Angelina’s collection of sack dresses, because this woman has a sack for every occasion. I can’t make up mind as to whether a one-sleeved, gauzy black “Morticia At The Beach” sack-caftan is too dressy or too casual. Or is it just right? I can’t decide.

*When did Angelina become such a hat person? Bitch has changed! Nowadays she cares about her skin so much, she’s become all Nicole “I must wear a hat at all times outside!” Kidman.

*Isn’t it weird that Brad’s outfit looks exactly like a larger version of something Shiloh has already worn? Montengro Style is genetic.

*Love Brad’s track pants on the boat. Never seen a dude who can pull off white track pants, but Brad kind of makes it work.

*Angelina’s purse is fug. Brad’s messenger bag is the bomb.

*Empress Z looks like she’s been taking boat tours all her life, right? That’s because she has.

*Love Vivienne’s pink outfit. Ten bucks says that Zahara helps Angelina shop for Vivienne.

That’s about it. Just cute photos of a big family on vacation. The shots are so budget, I tend to think they were taken by some tourist and then sold to photo agencies.

Angelina Jolie named an honorary citizen of Sarajevo by Bosnian government

A year and a half ago, Angelina Jolie was barred from filming exteriors for In the Land of Blood and Honey in Bosnia. Well… maybe I’m not remembering that correctly. There were protests, and a Bosnian women’s group made a huge fuss, and the Bosnian government was like, “Hey, Angelina, show us the script!” And I think Angelina was like, “Meh, I don’t need to film exteriors in your country that badly, okay?” At the end of the day, some kind of ceasefire was issued, and I think a second unit crew filmed some stuff in Bosnia, but the bulk of the film was shot in Hungary. But! When Angelina promoted ITLOBAH, she made sure to have a big promotional push in Bosnia, and while there were some complaints and grumbling, the reaction to the film and Jolie personally were overwhelmingly positive. So now Bosnia wants to make Angelina an honorary citizen!

Angelina Jolie is now a true citizen of the world!

During Monday’s parliamentary session, government officials of the Sarajevo Canton chose to bestow the ultimate commendation on the newly-engaged actress: an honorary citizenship, to thank her for bringing awareness to the three-year Bosnian war with In the Land of Blood and Honey, the gritty, ultra-realistic film she wrote and directed about the bloody conflict.

A source tells Us Weekly the government has chosen to recognize Jolie, 36, because of “her contribution to the preservation of truth about the war in Sarajevo and in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and her dedication to protection of the principles of humanity, democracy, tolerance, and solidarity between people of different ethnic, religious and cultural backgrounds.”

According to a government spokesman, “Laureates will receive their honors at the special session of the Sarajevo Canton’s parliament, to be held on May 3.”

Though Jolie has yet to respond to the invite, the jetsetting mom of six is deeply committed to her humanitarian work. This weekend, the star–who was recently promoted to special envoy of the United Nations High Commission for Refugees, after serving as a goodwill ambassador for over a decade–took some time off from celebrating her engagement to Brad Pitt to visit with Colombian refugees in Ecuador.

[From Us Weekly]

I haven’t even been able to keep track of all of Angelina’s passports and such. She’s an American citizen, of course, but she also carries a passport with the United Nations too, right? And she was made a citizen of Cambodia in 2005. I feel like there’s more, right? Didn’t Namibia offer citizenship to Angelina and Brad after Shiloh was born there? And Angelina used to be married to a British citizen too – did she ever become a UK citizen? So many questions. But sure, a wonderful honor for Angelina. It’s nice that the government recognized what she was trying to do with her film, and this is a nice way to thank her.

Angelina Jolie makes her first UNHCR special envoy trip to Ecuador

Last week, Angelina Jolie was promoted to “Special Envoy” to the United Nations High Commission on Refugees. Jolie has been the goodwill ambassador to the UNHCR for more than a decade, and her new “special envoy” position gives her more power, more responsibility, and probably more work. Late last week, Angelina and her family headed off to Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands. I wondered if they were just on vacation, or if they had some kind of official business there, and it looks Angelina was attending to some UNHCR duties while in the area. Jolie met with Colombian refugees living in Ecuadorian camps. You can see more photos of her trip here.

Angelina Jolie mixed business with pleasure on Sunday during a tour to the San Miguel River between Ecuador and Colombia. In her new role as the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees Special Envoy, Jolie met with a 71-year-old woman in the village of Barranca Bermeja which hosts 50 families, 60 percent of which are Colombian refugees.

At one point she chatted to local bean farmer, Plinio, who is part of an agricultural project to encourage self sufficiency and improve nutrition in the community. He took her through the local jungle as he talked her through their struggles, while Angelina ditched her glamour for some wellies and a rucksack.

Angelina was dressed all in black and wore rubber boots for the muddy terrain and listened intently as the woman spoke and she made sure to take notes. The Oscar-winner got in the pleasure part of her trip by traveling with fiancé Brad Pitt and their six children for a tour of the nearby Galapagos Islands.

During her work as UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador, Jolie has “conducted more than 40 field visits around the world” but will now focus on “large-scale crises resulting in the mass displacement of people,” an announcement from the Agency said.

Angelina, 36, visited the region to meet up with the High Commissioner for Refugees, Antonio Guterres. It is the first trip for the star since Guterres named her special envoy earlier this month,.

The Tomb Raider star met up with Ecuador’s Foreign Minister, Ricardo Patino, during her trip to the country. They were spotted walking together as they chatted and headed to a meeting in Quito on Sunday to promote the ‘Thanks Ecuador’ campaign in recognition of their help with refugees.

UNHCR spokesman Adrian Edwards said last week: “Angelina Jolie is expected to focus on large-scale crises resulting in the mass displacement of people, to undertake advocacy and represent UNHCR and Mr. Guterres at the diplomatic level, engaging with relevant interlocutors on global displacement issues.”

[From Radar & The Mail]

Good for Angelina. She’s made very few UNHCR trips so far this year, and I always find WHERE she goes interesting – obviously, we hear more about African refugee crises, and the ticking time bomb of displaced Afghans and Pakistanis, and while Jolie has devoted a lot of time to the higher profile crises, she also brings attention to oft-forgotten or lesser-known crises too. You can read more about the UNHCR’s work around the world here.

Chelsea Handler is still bad-mouthing Angelina Jolie in interviews, surprise

I’m about to shock you! Chelsea Handler, star of a vodka-soaked empire, is once again talking about how much she dislikes Angelina Jolie. As you know, Chelsea is faithfully Team Aniston – Chelsea used to make fun of Jennifer Aniston (and everyone else) until Chelsea decided to befriend certain tabloid “sweethearts” and use her act to screech at Angelina Jolie specifically. Chelsea has gone off on Angelina so many times, calling Angelina “a f–king c–t” and a “homewrecker” and making racist jibes at the Jolie-Pitt children. Chelsea also name-drops Jennifer Aniston into nearly every interview she does. And lest you think that “Oh, Aniston doesn’t cosign this…” – sure, you could believe that. Aniston and Handler are tight, though. Chelsea comes to all of Aniston’s premieres, Chelsea came (and spoke at) Aniston’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony, and they consistently vacation together. Anyway, Chelsea has a new interview. Guess what she talks about?

Jennifer Aniston’s loyal close pal Chelsea Handler has blasted Angelina Jolie as “the opposite of a girl’s girl,” saying: “You just know as a woman, when you see another woman, if that’s a woman you can trust.”

Handler, when asked to describe the opposite of a girl’s girl, says in a story in More’s May issue: “Probably Angelina Jolie . . . She [Jolie] doesn’t strike me as someone I would have a close friendship with.”

The “Chelsea Lately” host counts Aniston as one of her closest friends. But while sources say Aniston is happy for her newly engaged ex, Brad Pitt, and Jolie, Handler has refused to apologize for calling Jolie a “home wrecker.”

Handler also talks for the first time about being “madly in love” with hotelier André Balazs — from whom she split last year and reunited with in February. She tells the magazine, out Tuesday: “My boyfriend, André . . . We just got back together literally yesterday. We had dated for nine months, a long-distance relationship with all the stresses and traveling and running around. It wasn’t a real life; we weren’t living together.

“So, André came to me yesterday and said, ‘I think we have to try to make this work again.’ And I agreed because we’re still madly in love, and he has done a lot of the things I’ve asked him to, and I’ve done a lot of the stuff he’s asked me to . . . It’s just a matter of . . . understanding each other better — getting to know what the other person’s needs are and not basing all your behavior on your own desire.”

While he’s New York-based, her show is filmed in LA. “Sometimes you don’t want to fly five hours to go see somebody, but sometimes that person needs you there,” she says. “It’s that kind of selflessness and thoughtfulness.”

On getting married: “I’ve never been proposed to, and I don’t know that that’s in my future . . . I don’t know that I’m marriage material. I don’t know if I would ever want to be someone’s wife. It makes breaking up much more complicated.”

[From Page Six]

I’m sure some people agree with Chelsea’s assessment of Jolie. I’m sure some people think the exact opposite – that Chelsea and Jennifer Aniston seem like they would be horrible people to be friends with. That’s all just a matter of opinion, and everyone’s entitled. But Jesus Christ, does Chelsea have anything else to talk about? Don’t these character attacks – on Angelina specifically – get old? I don’t even feel like it’s part of any comedic “act” – it’s just Chelsea obsessively maintaining her “Team Aniston” status in interviews, in her act, on her show, and everywhere else.

Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt got engaged because Maddox guilt-tripped them, basically

These are all photos of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie through the years at the Cannes Film Festival. Because why not? For all of these engagement stories, I’m trying to use some older photos that we haven’t seen in a while, just for fun. Anyway, I’ve gotten a chance to read some of the tabloids this week, and they all have versions of Brad Pitt’s proposal. I think most versions have Brad spending months and months designing the ring and when he actually proposed, Angelina cried. But I think my favorite version is Us Weekly’s story – they basically say that Maddox is a little family-values conservative who guilt-tripped his parents into getting married because “mommies and daddies should be married.” OMG. Santorum-speak!!!! Us Weekly’s sources also claim that Brad came right out and proposed to Angelina… in 2006. When she was pregnant with Shiloh! And Angelina refused him!

It wasn’t your average Jolie-Pitt family meeting. On a recent spring day, Brad Pitt gathered his six kids — Maddox, 10, Pax, 8, Zahara, 7, Shiloh, 5, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 3 — as he presented love Angelina Jolie with a very special present: A tablet-shaped diamond engagement ring — estimated at 16 carats and worth $500,000 — which he helped design with jeweler Robert Procop.

Pitt skipped the tradition of getting down on one knee, per a source, and merely presented the ring as a token of his unwavering love.

“Angelina cried and smiled” at the proposal, a confidante tells the new Us Weekly, out now. And the children, who had been extremely eager for their parents to wed after seven years together, were equally overjoyed, the source adds. “Everyone hugged once she put [the ring] on. She went around and showed it to each of the kids.”

As the world now knows, Jolie, 36, quietly debuted that long-awaited ring at an April 11 private viewing at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, with startling photos and a confirmation from jeweler Procop and then Pitt’s manager emerging two days later.

“Angie considers herself bonded to Brad for life,” adds the source.

The engagement fulfills one of Pitt’s long-held dreams – and a source gives all credit to Brad and Angelina’s oldest child, Maddox. “Maddox wanted them to have a wedding… he was the most vocal in pushing for it… Brad pleaded with Angelina and said that everything else in the kids’ lives is not normal, that they travel constantly, they are always in different houses and different schools. They needed to give the kids one thing in their life that is normal and they are asking for this. Brad told Angelina they should do it for the kids.”

It wasn’t the first time Pitt proposed to her, reveals the insider. “He asked her to marry him when she was pregnant with Shiloh,” says the source. “And she said no.”

But more recently, Jolie was taken off guard when Maddox urged her to take the traditional next step. “Maddox told Angelina a mommy and daddy should be married. It broke Angie. She knew she had to do it then.”

As Brad designed Angelina’s ring, he was actually working for the kids’ approval. “brad would show them plans for the ring… he wanted the ring to be from the whole family, not just from him.”

As for making plans for the actual wedding, sources say it will likely take place in their French chateau either this summer or next. A source says, “I don’t think Angelina figured that she would be getting married again… [but she sees it] as formalizing the agreement they already have… it’s no big deal to her.”

A friend also says, “I don’t think Angelina has ever worried about her ability to keep a man, but what she has with Brad is very strong. They can still be hot and heavy. There is a great attraction. Angie is deep and thoughtful and undeniably sure of herself. I don’t think any man but Brad could really make it work.”

[From Us Weekly, print and online editions]

Yes, I see it clearly now. Maddox’s fingerprints are all over this!! It does sound like Maddox was working both parents separately, right? He was all, “Dude, you need to do the right thing by my mom” to Brad and then to Angelina, Maddox was all, “Girl, he loves you. The next time he asks, SAY YES.” That’s how I imagine Maddox speaks. Am I wrong? I want to know what Zahara thinks of all of this. You know she gave that 1980s ring an empress side-eye.

Brangelina, Kristen Stewart, Sparkles and more will be at Cannes this year

Angelina Jolie needs to get to work. Do you realize that she hasn’t been in front of a camera since she filmed The Tourist in early 2010? Sure, she wrote and directed a movie, and she did voice work on Kung Fu Panda 2. But it’s crazy that one of the highest paid and most in-demand actresses in Hollywood – with a long list of projects that she’s associated with or signed on to – hasn’t been in front of a camera for two years. She’s got two films that she’s allegedly going to be working on this summer - Maleficent and The Counselor. And now she’s got somewhere else to go too – Brad Pitt’s latest film was just announced to the Cannes Film Festival line-up, so she and Brad are going to be in France next month. Basically, I’m saying that they probably won’t be getting married this summer. Guess who else is coming to Cannes this year? ROBSTEN. Bruce Willis. Reese Witherspoon. Nicole Kidman. Viggo Mortensen. Yay!

The carpet will be red hot – with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson,Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves, Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth, and new parents Emma Heming and Bruce Willis, turning this year’s Cannes Film Festival into a two-week A-lister date night.

Add in Zac Efron, Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban – and the possibility of a Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith sighting – and you might forget they also show movies at the world’s most glamorous film event.

The 64th Cannes fest, which will run from May 16 to 27, formally announced its schedule in Paris on Thursday, and organizers haven’t stinted on star power.

One year after Pitt’s film Tree of Life took Cannes’s top prize, the star is returning, this time with his bride to be, Jolie, who is expected to join him when his New Orleans caper Killing Them Softly vies in competition.

Stewart and Pattinson will turn up separately for their movies, On the Road and Cosmopolis, although don’t be surprised to see them together.

Opening night’s movie Moonrise Kingdom, being shown in competition, stars Willis. Mud, starring McConaughey and Witherspoon, was a surprise last-minute addition, sources tell PEOPLE.

Also anticipated: Efron and Kidman climbing the Palais steps together. She has two films in Cannes, The Paperboy and the thriller Stoker.

Other names include Kirsten Dunst, James Gandolfini, Kylie Minogue, Viggo Mortensen, Bill Murray, Marion Cotillard, and Chris Rock, who’ll join Pinkett Smith for a special afternoon kids’ screening of Madagascar 3.

[From People Magazine]

It seems like a pretty exciting line-up this year, with lots of American stars scheduled to attend. I’m not one of those “USA! USA!” chanters, I’m just saying that Cannes Film Festival coverage is simply more interesting when there are big, internationally acclaimed celebrities there. Will this be Kristen Stewart’s first time at Cannes? That should be exciting for her – I hope she brings it, fashion-wise. I wonder if Kristen and Sparkles will walk each other’s carpets? That would be sweet if they did. Maybe they’ll do it separately. It’s been a while since Nicole Kidman has been there too!

In other Brangelina news, the family arrived on the Galápagos Islands yesterday. They’re staying at a private villa, allegedly. People Mag’s report is a bit confusing – they took a private jet to Baltra, Ecuador, then they boarded a yacht to the Galápagos Islands, maybe? Whatever. I guess this is their pre-Cannes vacation.

Angelina Jolie promoted to diplomatic ‘Special Envoy’ to the UNHCR

Yesterday, April 17th, the United Nations announced that Angelina Jolie had been given a brand-new title. She was no longer a “goodwill ambassador to the United National High Commission on Refugees” – she’s now a “Special Envoy”. You know who gets appointed to “Special Envoy” positions? Ex-presidents. Former secretaries of state. Major politicos and PhDs in international relations and such. This is mega.

The UN refugee agency announced on Tuesday that actress and humanitarian Angelina Jolie will take on a new and expanded role for UNHCR as Special Envoy of High Commissioner António Guterres.

During a decade of service as a UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador, Jolie has conducted more than 40 field visits around the world, becoming an expert on the phenomenon of forced displacement and a tireless advocate on behalf of refugees.

“In her new role, she is expected to focus on large-scale crises resulting in the mass displacement of people, to undertake advocacy and represent UNHCR and Guterres at the diplomatic level, engaging with relevant interlocutors on global displacement issues,” spokesman Adrian Edwards told journalists in Geneva.

He said Jolie would focus on complex emergencies and work to facilitate lasting solutions for people displaced by conflict. “High Commissioner Guterres is grateful to Ms. Jolie for accepting this role at a critical time in global displacement. Her new status as Special Envoy is effective immediately,” he added.

[From UNHCR press release]

This title change gives Angelina the same level as UN diplomats, and it honors her decade of work with the high commission. She did a lot of UN work last year, but she seems to have been busier with her Hollywood stuff this year. I wonder where Special Envoy Jolie will go first? Afghanistan? Pakistan? Libya? Sudan? Syria? Jesus, there are a lot of crises going on right now.

People Mag has a piece about Angelina being a “busy bride-to-be” – it’s just a nice piece about all of the work commitments Angelina has coming up, what with filming this summer on Maleficent and maybe-probably The Counselor (with Michael Fassbender!). Basically, Angelina isn’t going to have the time to plan a big wedding. My guess? Small family affair in the renovated chapel on their French chateau. Maybe in the fall?

Angelina Jolie shows off her engagement ring, looks happy in a new LA outing

New photos of Angelina Jolie! Angelina stepped out yesterday in LA for some business meetings, and she was wearing her engagement ring, of course. The photos of the ring aren’t all that great – I don’t know why the paparazzi couldn’t get better-quality images of the ring. Maybe it was because Angelina kept moving? I swear, Angelina and Brad should have just done a photo call for their engagement, like Prince William and Kate Middleton did. Just stand there for ten minutes and let everyone take photos of them (and the ring). But in lieu of a formal photo call, we get this.

I feel like Angelina did this outing on purpose, so more photo agencies would get a chance to get pics of “Angelina the fiancée”. She wore a cotton dress in a flattering grey, those nude wedges that she absolutely loves (which I’m tired of), and she paired her outfit with a $2000 Yves Saint Laurent Chyc Cabas satchel. I’m not in love with the bag (and I’m a purse person too), but I think it suits Angelina and this ensemble. I kind of love that Angelina came out and smiled and she was happy to show off her ring. She’s our American royalty (for better or for worse, people).

As we discussed yesterday, People Magazine has a “special edition” this week all about Brangelina’s engagement and the ring and everything. People Mag claims the ring is worth about $1 million, while Us Weekly has merely upped the price tag from $250,000 to $500,000. My guess is still on the higher end of the scale, not just because of the quality of the diamonds used, but also because of Brad’s efforts in designing the piece, and you have to figure in “What would this go for at auction?” As I said yesterday, I’m not crazy about the ring – it’s not my taste. It seems very dated and 1980s to me, but… that’s Angelina’s style. She loves big, chunky, 1970s jewelry, and God knows, she loves 1980s style (including shoulder pads and Dynasty hair). So… I bet she loves her ring.

L&S: Brad Pitt proposed to Angelina over Christmas & they waited to announce it

Wow, even more Brangelina news. Shocking! Take that, Kim and Kanye. Personally, I always welcome Brangelina news, but I’m wary of the deluge. It’s coming. Probably tomorrow, when all of the tabloids release their covers – I’m expecting lots of Uncool Bermuda Triangle stuff, and you should too. But for today, in this the halcyon day before the tabloid deluge, we merely have one negative and one positive story to discuss – we already talked about Angelina’s engagement-ring-flaunting photo op this morning too.

Meanwhile, Life & Style has an “exclusive” story about the proposal. I’m hoping that the print edition of People Magazine has a story about the proposal too, but for now, I’ll take L&S’s version:

Angelina Jolie may have only just debuted her gorgeous engagement ring, but Life & Style can exclusively reveal that she and Brad Pitt have been engaged for months!

A source says that Brad proposed to Angelina at Christmas and that the couple decided to keep it a secret until the timing was just right.

“Brad had the ring designed last year and made sure it was ready by Christmas because he wanted a romantic Christmas proposal — and he got it,” a friend of Brad’s tells Life & Style.

“They didn’t announce their engagement sooner because Angie focused so much on promoting her directorial debut, In the Land of Blood and Honey,” says the insider.

Instead, Brad waited until after the December premiere before getting down on one knee.

“She was very busy with the movie and her Oscar campaign. She also worried that the engagement would take over press on her film and detract from that. There was some negative press on Blood and Honey that bothered her a lot, and she didn’t feel the timing was right. So they waited,” reveals the source.

On April 13, after Angelina was spotted wearing the ring at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, a rep for jeweler Robert Procop confirmed to Life & Style that Brad and Angelina were engaged, after more than six years as a couple.

Procop — who designed a collection, The Style of Jolie, with Angelina — worked with Brad to make the perfect sparkler.

In a statement to Life & Style, the jeweler’s team said, “Brad had a specific vision for this ring, which he realized over a yearlong collaboration with Robert. He wanted every aspect of it to be perfect, so Robert was able to locate a diamond of the finest quality and cut it to an exact custom size and shape to suit Angelina’s hand.”

[From Life & Style]

A Christmas proposal? Where were they over Christmas? They were maybe in New York City – they were photographed in NYC just before Christmas, and Star Magazine claimed that Brad and Angie were talking/fighting about getting married over Christmas in New York too. I don’t know – they could have been in LA or maybe Missouri too. I want to think Brad made sure that the proposal was super-romantic and fancy, and not some kind of peace offering in the middle of a gigantic fight.

Angelina Jolie’s Pitt-designed engagement ring is worth more than $1 million

I like the inside-the-media stories, especially in regards to celebrity/gossip media outlets. I enjoy trying to figure out what is and is not “worthy” of a “special edition” or a “double issue”. What makes it on the cover of any given tabloid? How do they decide? Well, People Magazine’s choices are always fascinating. Last week, their cover story was about that dude William Levy, who is competing on Dancing With the Stars. Levy must have a great publicist, because many outlets are really trying to make this “WHO?” nobody “happen”. I hope that last week’s People issue sold very poorly – and I think it did. Which explains why People’s staff worked throughout the weekend to put together a “special edition” for Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s engagement. Like, when was the last time People put out a special edition days before the usual Wednesday release? I suspect the last time involved Prince William’s engagement… or the royal wedding last year. So there’s your comparison – Brad and Angelina are American royalty, at least according to People Magazine, and their engagement is worthy of a special edition.

When the time finally came for Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie to make a promise for their future, Pitt made sure to do it right.

“Brad had the vision” for the custom-cut engagement ring, Beverly Hills jeweler Procop tells PEOPLE in this week’s engagement special cover story. Check out the stunning sparkler – with diamonds set on a band of yellow gold – in a close-up photo.

An independent expert tells PEOPLE that the ring could weigh in at more than 10 carats total, with a price tag of $1 million.

Jolie, 36, quietly debuted the ring at a private event at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art on April 11.

After seven years and six kids together, the couple decided that they were ready to begin their next chapter together. “They’ve reached a stage where their family has jelled,” says a source who has spent time with them.

For much more on Brad and Angelina’s engagement, including wedding dress sketches from top bridal designers and an inside look at the couple’s relationship, pick up this week’s issue of PEOPLE.

[From People Magazine]

Yes, more photos of Angelina’s ring have come out, and it’s much different than I originally thought. From the side angle, I thought it was just one large emerald-cut diamond with maybe some smaller diamonds at the base. But this is one decent-sized “oblong-shaped” diamond, with smaller diamonds making a “tiered” effect. Procop told People Magazine that the surrounding diamonds are “ribbed” and weigh in at 10 carats – “The side diamonds are specially cut to encircle her finger. Each diamond is of the highest gem quality.” As Procop said before, Brad worked on this ring for a YEAR. Good God. Procop continues, “Brad had a specific vision for this ring, which he realized over a yearlong collaboration. He wanted every aspect of it to be perfect, so I was able to locate a diamond of the finest quality and cut it to an exact custom size and shape to suite Angelina’s hand. Brad was always heavily involved, overseeing every aspect of the creative design evolution. Each diamond is of the highest gem quality.”

And Angelina’s ring costs more than the ring he designed for Jennifer Aniston (hers was reportedly worth $500,000). Although People is now saying Angelina’s ring costs $1 million, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was more than that, judging solely by the quality of diamonds used, plus all of the special effort Brad took in co-designing it. What I’m saying is that if (God forbid) Angelina ever auctioned this ring, it would go for much more than $1 million.
