Jolie-Pitt Rumor Roundup: Nothing is true

Thanks to reader Millie for sending us this People article debunking basically everything we’ve gleefully reported about the worlds most famous couple. Almost nothing, except the fact that Brad and Angelina are in Africa (or Angelina is, at this point) is true:

  • Jolie has not signed on for Tomb Raider 3 and has no plans to play video-game heroine Lara Croft any time soon.

  • Pitt is not trying to convince Jolie to join the cast of Ocean’s 13. (Sorry, George.)
  • Jolie is not looking to adopt a Namibian infant – at least not right now.
  • The actress is not planning a “water birth” for the couple’s baby-to-be, or to name the baby Africa.
  • Jolie’s ill mom, Marcheline Bertrand, is not near death and did not ask Jolie to give birth in France as a “dying wish.”
  • Pitt did not purchase for Jolie a “fidelity necklace” as a pre-baby wedding gift. In fact they currently have no plans to marry.
  • Finally, Jolie is not planning to buy a small African nation of her own.
  • Damn! That just about blows every stupid thing we’ve written about them out of the water. My faith in the gossip industry is just about nil. They even make up quotes from people I actually know, and I’m not that connected.

Angelina did give a few real quotes in her Dateline interview that the press is blowing out of proportion. She said she can’t quite believe that she’s pregnant and is in denial about it, and that she plans on adopting more children.

She also supposely said that’s she’s not morbid, but that’s not from her Dateline interview and is just some random quote so who knows if it’s true?

Brad Pitt jets back to America with ailing baby Zahara

16 month-old Zahara Jolie-Pitt suffers from rickets, a bone disorder that she developed while in an Ethopian orphanage. When she came down with a cold, Brad learned that rickets makes her more susceptible to all sorts of diseases that are common in Africa, including malaria and yellow fever. He became concerned for her health and brought her back to the states for medical care. Babies get sick a lot and Zahara will probably be fine, but this reopens the conflict between Angelina and Brad as to where Angelina will give birth:

Brad flew back to Los Angeles on a private jet to have a meeting with one-year-old Zahara’s main doctor about a possible recurrence of the condition [rickets]

And 30-year-old Jolie will be following hot on his heels with Zahara and four-year-old Maddox if her medical team recommend the move.

A source told us: “Angie wants to have her child in Africa but Brad has had doubts all along and there’s a delivery room on standby at Cedars-Sinai.

“When he mentioned Zahara had a cold he was shocked to be told that in Namibia she was more susceptible to diseases like malaria and yellow fever as her immune system would have been weakened by the rickets.

“A private flight was booked for Brad to have a consultation and he told Angie he is sick of worrying about them all.

“He wants them to be perfectly safe and for his first biological child to be born in the safety of LA’s top hospital.”

You know Angelina will do whatever she decides, and won’t let someone else tell her where to have her baby. She is said to be planning to use a birthing tub in a Namibian hospital for a water birth. I had most of my labor in a birthing tub and found it to be very relaxing. It’s a nice alternative to medication and is said to be as effective as an epidural.

    Update: Angelina Jolie’s Dateline interview:

Here are pictures from People Magazine online of the world’s most beautiful family. You may have seen most of them already, but some are new.

Angelina to give birth to baby boy “Africa” in a month?

Angelina revealed in an interview with Anne Curry that her due date is about a month away. She is now said to be expecting a boy that they’re planning on naming Africa:

Eight months pregnant Angelina Jolie is planning on combining her two biggest loves- motherhood and activism- when she delivers her first child next month reports Star Magazine. Jolie is going to do so by naming the baby “Africa”! “They both love the name- they think it’s so distinctive and unique,” says a source close to the actress and her love, Brad Pitt, adding that Angelina and Brad, hope that the name will also help strengthen ties between their baby and their adopted children, Maddox and Zahara. And, contrary to recent reports, Star’s sources confirm that the baby will be a boy. “Brad doesn’t call him the baby, he calls him ‘the little guy,”‘ says a source close to the Pitt family. “He’s been raving that with the amount of kicking that’s been going on, his son is going to be a soccer player!”

People reported a couple weeks ago that Jolie bought clothing suitable for a little girl and was overheard saying that she was expecting a girl, so chances are high that either one of these rumors is true.

Meanwhile the Jolie-Pitt Naimibian wedding rumor is further fueled by the fact that Brad bought a special “wedding crystal” that local custom dictates grooms give to brides on their wedding day:

Rumours hit after Pitt bought an ivory and quartz crystal stone from a jewellery store last weekend (22APR06). According to local custom, grooms give the gem to their brides as a pledge of fidelity.

The pair have already been the subject of two wedding hoaxes, which drew the world’s press to Italy and to Namibia, where they were rumoured to be tying the knot last weekend (22APR06) - the same day Pitt bought his girlfriend the ivory crystal.

As Millie commented on our article about the rumored Namibian wedding, maybe Angelina will go through with it - as long as it’s a local ceremony and not legally binding in the states.

Thanks to Just Jared for these screencaps from Angelina’s Today show Interview. It aired this morning at 7am and will be shown in full on Dateline on Sunday at 7pm. Just Jared also has parts of the interview transcribed. Angelina is advocating for education for children around the world.

The Today show interview is not on YouTube yet, but you can watch it online with Internet Explorer only (cause it’s MSNBC of course). Here’s the video.

Here is another interview with Angelina from her pre-Brad days. She discusses a boy in Africa that she met during her UN ambassador work who particularly moved her. Try not to cry when you watch it.

Did Brad Pitt get Catherine Zeta-Jones kicked out of Oceans 13?

There’s a rumor that Brad Pitt requested that Catherine Zeta-Jones’ character meet an untimely death in Oceans 13, due to the nasty comments about his relationship with Angeilna made by her husband, Michael Douglas:

Brad Pitt has reportedly used his considerable clout to get Catherine Zeta Jones dumped from Oceans Thirteen due to her hubby Michael Douglas comment and shot about Angelina Jolie and her “third world orphans.”

Mike Walker [of the National Enquirer] reports that before the actor would agree to sign on to Ocean 13, Zeta-Jones would need to be dumped.

Not only did she need to be swept out of the third ‘Ocean’s’ film, Pitt reportedly wanted her dead (in the film).

Walker writes: Before he’d agree to star in the film Brad decreed not only that Zeta-Jones be banned from reprising her role - he actually forced producers to write in a scene explaining that her character has dies a horrible death.

Cue the rep: Pitt’s PR folks denied all and Walker says “curiously claims Brad is not even aware of the Douglas remarks.”

Brad may seem like a pansy now that he’s holing up in Namibia with Angelina, but he may be capable of being fierce when someone mocks him. Or maybe Angelina put him him up to it.

Update: Al Pacino has joined Oceans 13.

Angelina’s exclusive interview from Namibia with Ann Curry will air on the Today show tomorrow morning at 7am and on Dateline Sunday at 7pm. Angelina says she doesn’t talk about her relationship with Brad either to the press or with Brad himself and that she hopes to bring awareness to the need for education for children around the world.

In her first comments about her relationship with her Mr. & Mrs. Smith co-star, who divorced Friends actress Jennifer Aniston last year, Jolie tells Curry, “I don’t talk about our — my relationship in public. But we also don’t talk about it at home.

“It’s one of those funny things that just happens, and you live your life, and you’re a family. But you never actually discuss (it).”

The whole relationship question, Jolie says, makes her “giggle.” It’s “just kind of funny. If (Brad) saw this, he would probably understand why I was laughing. Because I just don’t know how to address that kind of thing.”

Jolie says she broke her silence with the media to further her latest cause: educational opportunities for children worldwide.

She also said she knows the sex of the baby, but won’t reveal it.

Here’s a picture of Angelina with Anne Curry.

Beautiful candids of the Jolie-Pitts in Africa

Just Jared has these beautiful candids of the Jolie-Pitts in Namibia, published in Hello! Magazine. The couple obviously posed for the pictures and most likely gave the proceeds to charity.

The accompanying article covers the recent news you’ve already heard about the couple in a very flattering light. Brad and Angelina didn’t grant an interview or provide any new quotes, and let their “philanthropic adviser” speak for them.

There are some interesting tidbits in the article. One passage about Angelina’s revelation that she needed to make a difference in the world is particularly touching:

It was there in 2002 that Angelina first began sharing her life with Maddox, whom she’d adopted from a Cambodian orphanage during the filming of the first Tomb Raider film. She was in Namibia to shoot another movie, Beyond Borders, when the adoption came through, and it was there that she spent her first night with her then seven-month-old baby - her first night as a mother.

Making Beyond Borders, a film about humanitarian work, had a profound effect on her. “When I read the script it started to change me,” she said at the time. “I was amazed at how much it had changed me and then, in the making of it, how much it meant to me. It just inspired me to start travelling and to educate myself.”

“I wanted to learn more. I sat up one night and felt I should be more responsible about what I was doing with my life and have more purpose. I don’t understand exactly what’s going on unless I’m inside a place.”

It seems that things have come full circle, as Angelina, about to give birth for the first time, will be welcoming her child with Brad in Namibia. And in the meantime, as they happily await the new arrival, the adventure-seeking couple, who have in the past been spotted piloting aircraft and dashing around on his and hers motorbikes, are taking full advantage of their African sojourn.

They may have found some peace in Namibia now that the government is on their side and they’ve deported some pesky photographers. They’re undoubtedly hoping to take some of the heat off by releasing these beautiful pictures.

    Jolie-Pitt wedding imminent?

Several reports have Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie getting married in Namibia any day now. Last month’s rumor that they were getting married in Italy turned out to be false of course, but in this case they’re actually in the location where the wedding is said to be, so it may happen.

The main points supporting the wedding theory:

  • Brad and Angelina have covered their seaside hotel with screens and have installed spotlights on the beach to enforce their privacy
  • Their relatives have supposedly flown in, with one local woman claiming to have hosted Angelina’s half sister that we’ve never heard of.
  • George Clooney is also supposed to be in Namibia now, but this is doubtful.
  • Angelina and Brad have issued a public statement asking the press to respect their privacy and stating that “We love Africa and to be here in Namibia with our family is very special for us.”
  • The Prime Minister of Namibia has asked the press to leave the country, and has imposed stiff fines on the paparrrazi. The government has also kicked photographers out of the area surrounding the resort, and it is supposed to be impossible to come within walking distance.
  • Brad and Angelina were caught entering a Namibian jewelry store by the television show Extra!
  • Sources supposedly close to the couple say that Brad has convinced Angelina to get married before the baby is born.

Angelina is said to want a traditional Namibian ceremony in a lodge in the Etoshan national game forest:

But the weekly magazine [In Touch] reports that there is a hitch: For now, Angie’s talking about a traditional Namibian ceremony - which might not be legally binding after all.

Uh-oh. I believe Angie has reportedly mentioned this type of ceremony before.

All the frills with no legal paper.

This same second friend says Brad, 42, and Angie, 30, have planned a wedding ceremony at a remote lodge in the Etosha National Park in northern Namibia, where wild animals roam. An insider at the Embassy of Namibia in Washington, D.C., says that such ceremonies are commonly performed by local tribal chieftains in a Bantu dialect.

The couple would be barefoot… and “will be asked to reach their arms toward the stars while the tribal leader calls upon the great spirits to watch over this man, this woman and their children until the end of time,” says the second friend.

It’s kind of earthy, but it sounds romantic anyway. Brad and Angelina spent a few days at Okonjima Lodge a week and a half ago, and that may be where the wedding could take place. The getaway also serves a charitable purpose, and is “home to the AfriCat Foundation, a non-profit organisation committed to the conservation and rehabilitation of cheetahs and leopards.”

Here are pictures of the Okonjima Lodge just in case they get married there. It looks nice but not quite nice enough for Brad and Angelina’s wedding. Maybe the website doesn’t do it justice. We also have pictures of the Burning Shore Lodge, where they are staying now. (Another lodge that would be a decent candidate for their wedding would be “Little Ongava,” although we were wrong that they had visited there earlier.)

Angelina Jolie is buying a whole country

Proving that her charity knows no bounds and is on a different level entirely than the lame attempts by her boyfriend to save the world, Angelina Jolie is planning to buy a country in Dubai and set it up for African refugees. The Bosh reports:

The ‘Tomb Raider’ star, who is currently pregnant with boyfriend Brad Pitt’s child, is buying Richard Branson’s man-made version of Ethiopia, located in Dubai. The British business tycoon is having 300 country-shaped luxury island developments built, to form a map of the world.

And the 55-year-old entrepreneur is selling parts of the ‘world’ to anyone rich enough to afford them. The 30-year-old actress, who is due to give birth early in May, is reportedly planning to turn her new purchase into a fair-trade paradise for hundreds of Africans.

A source said: “Angelina has been obsessed with Ethiopia ever since she adopted her second child Zahara from there. Her friends are very jealous of her purchase.”

Jolie will also take out an ad in USA Today next week begging for the US to intervene in the long-standing genocide in The Sudan:

Jolie tells People magazine, “I chose to take out this ad because when Congress returns from recess (24APR06), they have the chance to fully fund peacekeepers in Darfur. “The situation in Darfur has been going on far too long. It’s only getting worse. “Reports are pouring in about mass atrocities including children getting raped and killed. “If people are aware of the facts, I believe many will be driven to action.”

The US could have stepped in and stopped the violence in the Sudan long ago, but the neocons decided they wanted the oil in Iraq and choose to invent a genocide over there. Saddam Hussein may have gassed Kurds in the 80s, but US news outlets downplayed the event at the time. Now an actual genocide has been happening in The Sudan for about three years and no one is doing a thing about it. Saving hundreds of thousands of lives would have cost a fraction of the total of the Iraq war, but no one has given it any attention. Ironically that’s why we pay attention to celebrities. It’s easier than dealing with the tragedy and hypocrisy of the real world, and we’re just as guilty as anyone.

Brad is gearing up his own philanthropic efforts. He will join “environmental group Global Green USA to sponsor a competition that will choose architects to rebuild parts of hurricane-devastated New Orleans.”

Back to our regularly scheduled gossip.

Brangelina’s bodyguard beat up a photographer in front of Maddox!

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have come under fire for closing off roads to The Burning Shore Lodge where they’re staying in Namibia. They’ve also been criticized for the agressive, over-the-top behavior by their security team, headed by a security guard who was once charged with murder. So far their guards have pepper-sprayed a photographer and grabbed one local female reporter around the neck!

The latest news is that a photographer was beat totally senseless by one of their secuirty guards - right in front of Brad and four year-old Maddox!

The source reports that although the paparazzi have been lurking all around the compound, peeking out from bushes and perching in trees, the snappers had, for the most part, respected the compound’s boundaries. Sunday, however, a photog was spotted having literally DUG A DITCH to get on to the grounds and was taking pictures of Brad and Maddox, who were at play in the yard. “The bodyguard literally beat the crap out of this guy,” a source tells TMZ, adding, “Brad and Maddox were right there watching.”

Tough guy Mickey Brett, the security guard overseeing Brangelina’s high-security compound, issued this threat to the press earlier this week: “If I find anyone getting a picture of Jolie, I will f****ing smash someone to pieces. I’m not joking. I’ll f***ing put someone in the hospital. Tell your friends.”

According to the source, it was unclear whether Brett was the guard who scuffled Sunday with the unlucky paparazzi.

They need to get some new help right away, because it’s unacceptable for people to get beat up or even threatened by the thugs on their staff. Maybe they’ll realize that they can’t let their staff hurt the paparrazi when they’re slapped with some huge lawsuits for the damage they’ve caused.

Angelina and Brad to marry in Namibia?!

We realize that we reported the demise of Angelina and Brad’s relationship just yesterday. Just because they’re fighting it doesn’t mean that they have to break up. A story came out in Britain’s Mirror claiming that Angelina and Brad might get married in Namibia!

They’re staying at the Burning Shore Lodge again, and just stopped into the Etosha National Game Park for a few days. (Thanks to Glitterati for clearing this up.)

The story that they’re planning a wedding is totally speculative, but it sounds promising that their family is flying in:

Huge cloth screens have gone up outside the Namibian hideaway in southern Africa prompting speculation it will be a beach ceremony.

Heavily pregnant Angelina, 30, told her squad of body-guards to keep everyone off the beach, angering locals.

The Lara Croft star and Brad, 42, have been seen visiting private lodges that specialise in beach weddings.

Relatives are expected to join them within days.

An insider said: “We’ve heard Brad Pitt’s brother Doug is flying out and some of her family, too. Everyone’s wondering if they’re going to get married here before the baby’s born.

Of course Angelina is due next month, so that could explain the relatives flying in. Still it seems kind of early to have people visit, so it’s possible that they’re planning a wedding!

Here are the pictures of the resort where they’re staying that we’ve already posted.

Angelina Jolie to break up with Brad Pitt once the baby is born?

This doesn’t sound true to me, but I didn’t think that Angelina and Brad would move their family to Africa, either, so it might be more than just a rumor. Angelina Jolie is said to be thinking of getting rid of Brad Pitt once their baby is born:

Here’s the report according to the Enquirer. There has been another blow up with the couple - this time it reportedly happened when Brad found out that Jolie had been secretly corresponding with actor Colin Farrell.

“It’s basically over between Brad and Angelina,” says a friend of the couple. They can’t agree on anything - even where to have the baby.”

Once Brad confronted Angie over her e-mails with Colin - she told him that if he couldn’t trust her - perhaps they shouldn’t be together, the report details.

Brad eventually backed off - but the damage was done.

There reportedly was never even a meeting with Angie and Colin, according to the story in the weekly magazine - but still the seeds of doubt appear to be planted in Brad.

And worse - the story claims Jolie is concerned that Brad is too jealous.

While this could be true, she is also due soon and is probably more sensitive than usual. Hopefully she will change her mind once the baby arrives.

Meanwhile their over-agressive security forces are pissing off the locals and threatening people, and the new tattoo on Brad’s lower back has been revealed as a Sanskrit Buddhist blessing meant to protect his adopted son, Maddox. It is similar to the tattoo that Angelina has on her back. Will the guy ever get an identity of his own? No wonder Angelina’s tired of him.
