Bai Ling has sticky fingers; gets arrested

First of all, I don’t really know why Bai Ling is famous, except for her hideous wardrobe and multiple nipple slips on the red carpet. Apparently, her biggest role to date was in “The Crow,” and that was almost ten years ago. I checked out her resume on IMDB and it looks like she’s gotten more work just playing herself in cameo appearances than as a legitimate actress. And now, Bai is joining the ranks of celebrities in trouble with the law after being arrested for shoplifting about $16 worth of stuff at LAX.

Actress Bai Ling — recently named one of Us’ Worst Dressed at the Grammys — was arrested yesterday for shoplifting, TMZ.com reports.

She was at L.A.’s LAX airport when she walked out of a gift shop with two celebrity magazines and a pack of batteries (a $16 value) without paying.

Law enforcement sources told TMZ.com that Ling, 37, was placed under citizen’s arrest by a shop employee and was “cooperative but crying.”

She was then apprehended by airport security and booked for theft.

[From Us Weekly]

Citizen’s arrest! How cool is that? I hope someone talks to that shop clerk and gets all the details. How does one put someone under citizen’s arrest– are there handcuffs involved? Something tells me Bai would like that.

I’m betting money right now that Bai’s mugshot includes a nipple slip.

Picture note by Celebitchy: Bai Ling is shown at the Grammy Awards and at the 4th Annual Black Eyed Peas Peapod Foundation Benefit Concert on 2/7/08, thanks to PRPhotos. That hideous fashion must not come cheap.

Former Pageant Queen Assaults Cop, Takes Unflattering Mug Shot

Remember Katie Rees? I didn’t think so. To refresh your memory, the former Miss Nevada was one of several beauty pageant girls last year who got caught doing some rather un-ladylike things on camera, including underage drinking, cocaine use and lewd public acts with other female contestants. Rees was dethroned by Donald Trump, and then complained that Trump ‘played favorites’ when he gave Miss Teen USA, Tara Conner, a second chance and a rehab stint when Conner engaged in similar behavior.

Now, Rees is sitting in a jail cell in Las Vegas after allegedly assaulting a police officer.

Metro police have arrested former Miss Nevada USA Katie Rees in connection with assaulting an officer.

Rees was stopped shortly before 3 a.m. Wednesday for a traffic violation. During the stop, police discovered she was driving on a suspended license. When they attempted to arrest her, officers said Rees began to elbow and kick at the police.

She is being held in the Clark County Detention Center in connection with speeding, driving on a suspended license, driving an uninsured vehicle and resisting a police officer. Officials have not said if she will face assault charges in connection with attacking the police officers.

[From
Fox 5 Las Vegas]

Remember when Vanessa Williams was dethroned for some old nude photos that turned up in Penthouse magazine? That all seems rather tame now, doesn’t it? I’m not a fan of the pageant circuit as it is, but it does seem like that genre is attracting all the wrong people these days. It used to be that pageants were justified as a way to build self esteem and win money for college. Now it seems to be a forum for attention whores with substance abuse problems and out of control egos. I’m sure this isn’t the last mugshot we will see of a former beauty queen– but it is one of the most entertaining.

Picture note by Celebitchy: Katie Rees is shown on 1/29/07 at Jet Nightclub when she was crowned “Miss Jet Las Vegas.” The other picture is her booking photo.

Amy Winehouse arrested

wenn1694044.jpg

In less-than-shocking news, Amy Winehouse has been arrested. No, not for harboring 29 different kinds of drugs in her system, but for involvement in husband Blake Fielder-Civil’s court case for perverting the course of justice. Fielder-Civil beat up a bartender last June, and was arrested. He was let out on bail before he was re-arrested and held for perverting the course of justice, which is similar to witness tampering in US legalese. While it’s no clear what Amy’s involvement was, it was enough to arrest her. Unlike her husband, she was let out on bail.

Amy Winehouse was arrested, and later released, on Monday in London in connection with an alleged plan to derail a criminal case against her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil. “A 24-year-old woman has been arrested by appointment at an East London police station,” police tell PEOPLE. “She is currently in custody. The arrest was in connection with an investigation into perverting the course of justice.”

Winehouse’s U.S. rep tells PEOPLE: “I can confirm that she did go in voluntarily to be interviewed and was placed under arrest, as is common practice in the U.K., before being questioned. The singer was released after being questioned, her rep says. As is British custom, police do not name people who are arrested – only if they are later charged with a crime.

Winehouse was forced to give fingerprints and a saliva swab to police. “Any person arrested is required to give both DNA and fingerprints,” says the spokeswoman.

[From People]

It will be interesting to see if Amy ends up being charged with a crime. Considering the codependent relationship she has with Blake, it would be truly shocking to me if he committed a crime and she had no knowledge about it. I know this sounds horrible, but it might do Amy some good to spend a little time in jail. I’d prefer she go to rehab, it’s better than nothing. I know you can easily get drugs in jail, but I’d guess they’d keep a pretty close eye on her, and maybe have her completely segregated from the rest of the population. Maybe it’d be the impetus to get her to change her life around.

Bachelor beat-down: One of the last couples standing in domestic abuse charges

bachelorarrest.jpg
Mary Delgado’s mug shot
There was a big to-do over that show “The Bachelor” this season because bachelor Brad Womack refused to choose a fiance or even a girlfriend at the end, telling the two finalists he wasn’t in love with either of them and sending them both packing. He may have chosen the wisest course, considering that his chances of staying with his chosen mate would have been statistically slim. In eleven Bachelor seasons and three Bachelorettes, only two couples are still together, according to People Magazine.

Bachelorette Trista Sutter and her firefighting poet husband Ryan, married for almost four years with a four-month-old baby boy, are the golden couple of the faux-reality series. The only other couple still together are professional fisherman Bachelor Byron Velvick and his fiance Mary Delgado. They met on the show in 2005 and made an appearance on the “After the Final Rose” episode this year as a success story, saying they planned to marry in November, 2008.

Trista and Ryan could be be the only couple left now though. Mary was just booked in Tampa, Florida on charges of hitting Bryon in the face, leaving him with a bloodied lip. When questioned by police, Mary admitted hitting Bryon. She was arrested and spent a half day in jail.

Delgado was arrested early Wednesday morning by Pinellas County police and charged with domestic battery, Tampa Bay’s WFTS-TV ABC affiliate reported Friday. She was booked into the Pinellas County Jail around 12:30AM Wednesday morning and was released on her own recognizance later that afternoon, WFTS reported.

According to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office arrest affidavit, Delgado hit Velvick in the face, causing a cut on his upper lip. The 40-year-old Tampa resident subsequently admitted to striking Velvick, WFTS reported. The charges of domestic battery against Delgado are a misdemeanor, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office subject charge report. Alcohol was reportedly a factor.

[From RealityTVWorld]

This might not spell the end of Mary and Bryon’s relationship, but along with the non-romantic ending of this season’s series, it might hasten the end of The Bachelor. We can only hope that ABC gets the hint.

The Bachelor’s creator said he wanted to end the show this season with a shot of Brad Womack sitting on the couch, eating a sub and watching football. Instead it concluded with a schmaltzy shot of him looking at the engagement ring, as if contemplating his non-choice. As this story shows, there are much worse ways it could have ended.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers arrested for drunken airport outburst

details-holiday-2007-cover-final.jpg

Jonathan Rhys Meyers was arrested yesterday afternoon at Dublin Airport after a drunkenly yelling at a female worker. She told him he couldn’t get on the flight as he was clearly too inebriated, which angered him and resulted in his shouting, “I will get on this flight no matter what” over and over again. Rhys Meyers has been to rehab twice in the last few years – this last time in April – which he left after only two weeks. Rehab is boring after all, I’m sure it’s fine to leave because you want your freedom and to be able to go out and have lunch with your friends. How could sobriety possibly compare to that?

Match Point actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers has been arrested after an alleged drunken row with airline staff. The Irish actor reportedly launched an angry tirade of abuse at one female worker when she told him he was “unfit to travel” at Ireland’s Dublin Airport at around 2.30pm on Sunday.

The 30-year-old star - who was trying to board a British Midland flight to London after appearing on Irish TV show Tubridy Tonight on Saturday - repeatedly told staff: “I will get on this flight no matter what.” One source said: “After being told he couldn’t fly he flew into a temper and started screaming at this woman. She seemed to be very upset by the whole ordeal.” Police arrested the star at the airport and took him to the nearby Whitehall Garda station where he was charged under the Public Order Act with being drunk and disorderly and a breach of the peace.

Speaking outside the station after being released on bail, a disheveled Rhys Meyers said: “I said the wrong thing to the wrong woman at the wrong time.”

[From News.com.au]

It occurs to me that the problem isn’t that he said those things to the wrong woman, the problem is that he said the wrong things at all. It’s not like there’s a right person Rhys Meyers could have screamed at. He’s one of those actors who’s very face has always annoyed me. He just has this “I think I’m the greatest thing ever” air about him, and it makes me want to smack the cockiness right off his face.

Rhys Meyers is on the cover of this month’s Details. There’s a very bizarre interview with him in which he mentions his alcoholism (and how he never touches the stuff anymore) along with screaming out “PUSSY! I want pussy!” through the streets of Dublin for no apparent reason, and then burning the fake hair off his jacket sleeves with a lighter in a café during the interview. His reasoning being that it’s something to do. Alright, totally normal.

Rhys Meyers himself no longer goes to those sorts of mobbed, cacophonous venues. A notorious partier, he’s recently sworn off alcohol. “I didn’t drink until I was 25, and I never drank every day, but when I did, it was bad. It would be a couple of days that just wouldn’t work out for me, waking up with a hangover. Drink doesn’t fit into the groove of where my life is going.”

Rhys Meyers, now 30, has been in rehab twice. “I want to do really good things with my life,” he says. “And drinking is not synonymous with that. The [Richard] Burton days, the [Peter] O’Toole days, they are gone.”

[From Details]

I guess not so much. Sometimes you can just tell when people are “functional” alcoholics who will probably remain that way for life because they don’t suffer any severe consequences for it (though everyone around them often does). Rhys Meyers strikes me as one of those guys.

Amy Winehouse’s husband could get life in prison

Amy Winehouse may get some much-needed respite from her probably-abusive husband, layabout Blake Fielder-Civil. Blake faces up to life in prison after it was revealed by police that he’s under investigation for arranging to interfere with his upcoming trial by paying off the man he is accused of beating up. Yesterday police staged a dramatic raid of Amy’s London home, with JayBird guessing that it was due to drugs. It turns out that super smart JayBird isn’t psychic, because The Sun reports that the raid was related to the trial-fixing charge and has nothing to do with controlled substances.

Skinny Blake and his friend Michael Brown were due in court today to face charges from beating up a barman, James King. Instead his home was raided and he was taken into custody. It is alleged that Blake concocted a scheme to pay £210,000, about $443,000 USD, to the victim in exchange for him dropping the charges and refusing to testify at trial. What’s more is that Blake supposedly hired two guys to take the man to Spain and “babysit” him until he was in the clear.

Instead of doing the job, the two men Blake paid turned on him, and talked to a newspaper about it. The story is a little confusing to me, but the guys Blake hired supposedly had videotape of him and Brown beating up the barman. Either they were friends of his and were taping it, or they just happened to be there and got footage of the incident. Then Blake tried to pay them off by hiring them to cover it up and take the victim out of the country:

A Metropolitan police spokesman said: “A thorough investigation is being carried out into claims of conspiracy to pervert justice in connection with a trial.

“Three men have been arrested and are being questioned. We’re expecting to make further arrests.

The alleged conspiracy is reported to have emerged after two men named ANT and JAY contacted a newspaper in October claiming to be in possession of footage of the alleged attack on King by Fielder-Civil and Brown.

Ant then went on to allege he and Jay were to be paid for organising a deal between King and his claimed attackers and for “babysitting” the barman overseas until charges were dropped.

A film is reported to have been made of King claiming he would withdraw his court statement regarding the alleged attack as soon as £210,000 was deposited into his bank account.

A meeting is reported to have happened behind a seedy boozer in central London where Ant, Jay, Brown and Fielder-Civil thrashed out details of the plot.

After the meeting King is alleged to have appeared on video saying: “Fifth November 2007, I James King hereby without pressure or duress wish to withdraw any legal statements previously made or written concerning the arrest of Blake Fielder-Civil and Michael Brown over the GBH charges relating to my injuries. I have no intention of going to court or helping any further.”

“I feel this is in the best interests of mine and my family’s safety.”

Reports go on to claim flight tickets from London to Marbella were due to be booked yesterday.

However, Ant and Jay were arrested outside a pub yesterday.

Fielder-Civil is due in Snaresbrook Crown Court, East London, with Brown on Monday.

[From The Sun]

That’s serious! It sounds like something a dumb ass young rich guy would do, thinking he could easily make it all go away. Blake is going to be the one going away instead, and it may be for a very long time. It’s bound to hurt Amy at first, but given how obviously difficult her marriage is with Blake, it sounds like a big break for her. Maybe she’ll be able to concentrate fully on her career once the creep is behind bars.

Here’s Amy Winehouse yesterday before the big raid. She went to the post office, to a convenience store, and to her accountants. She was playing hooky from her job that day, and cost her record company $150,000, as JayBird reported earlier, by telling them that she would come to a video shoot momentarily but failing to show up all day. Thanks to Splash News for these pictures.

Shia LaBeouf’s most boring drunken arrest

shialabeoufmugshot.jpg
More details have come out in the Shia LaBeouf drunken arrest at Walgreen’s incident, and it does sound just like the drug store stand down that we assumed it was. He was asked to leave the store, he didn’t, and he got arrested. There’s no mention of screaming, shoving, or tantrum-throwing, and it seems like the guy wanted to go about his business and pick up some items and the security didn’t like the way he was weaving down the aisles and told him to get out. Shia stood his ground and got some publicity out of the deal.

If you’re going to be arrested for drunken conduct, this is the way to do it. Shia wasn’t driving, he wasn’t knocking shit over, he didn’t beat anyone up, and it doesn’t even sound like he was all that rude. I like to spend my time browsing in the drug store too, so I can’t fault the guy for asserting his right to shop at 2:30 in the morning after a few drinks. Considering all the other drunken antics he could be up to, Shia is still aces in my book.

All this article says is that he was out drinking, he went to the drug store, refused to leave, then got arrested. If there was more to it than that we would be hearing about it:

LaBeouf, a rising star who is in Chicago to film a movie, was at the Underground nightclub, 56 W. Illinois St., on Saturday night and left about 2 a.m. Sunday, said Maura Daley, a club spokeswoman.

She declined further comment, but added: “His unrelated incident is very unfortunate, and we wish Mr. LaBeouf all the best…”

The 21-year-old actor who starred in “Disturbia” and “Transformers” and is the star of the upcoming Indiana Jones sequel, was arrested about 2:25 a.m. in the Walgreens at 757 N. Michigan Ave., police said.

A security guard called police after LaBeouf refused to leave the 24-hour store, said Monique Bond, Chicago police spokeswoman. He was asked to leave several times, she said. The guard signed a complaint, and the actor was cited on a misdemeanor count of trespassing, police said.

“The report does not indicate that he was with a group. [It] appears that he was alone,” Bond said. “[There is] no indication of damaging property or interfering with other customers.”

LaBeouf, a California resident, was taken to the Near North police district and posted bail about 7 a.m., police said. His next court date is Nov. 28.

[From The Chicago Tribune via ONTD]

Maybe there was shoving or screaming, but even though this is a respected paper, I have to think they would have thrown that in there if it happened. The way this scenario plays out in my head is that Shia needs some contraceptives because he’s about to get lucky and is thwarted by an over-eager security guard. He says “no, I’m not going to leave” and stays in the store, being repeatedly harassed. The poor guy gets arrested and forfeits his evening hookup, but at least we all hear about it and he starts to achieve the level of fame that he deserves.

Isn’t that the cutest mug shot you’ve ever seen? Good job, Shia, now don’t go doing it again.

Don’t drink and go to the drugstore: Shia LaBeouf arrested at Walgreens

If all I heard was that a celebrity was arrested for being drunk at a drug store, my money would have been on Britney at CVS. In my imagination she’s not combative despite her umbrella-wielding history, and is apprehended for opening up makeup and trying it on, discarding packages as she stumbles down the aisle.

Transformers star Shia LaBeouf was arrested at a Walgreens in Chicago over the weekend after security asked him to leave and he refused. It was 2:30 in the morning when the cops came, so maybe he’d just had a marathon drinking session and really wanted one of those little packages of ice cream they sell there. I love those, because they get you into a lot less trouble than a full pint of Ben and Jerry’s.

It doesn’t sound like LaBeouf was disruptive so much as stubborn and holding his ground. He was said to be cooperative with police and to have posted bail a few hours later, at 7 a.m.:

Chicago police say actor Shia LaBeouf was arrested at the Walgreens at 757 N. Michigan Av. around 2:30 a.m. Sunday after repeatedly refusing to leave the store.

A security guard repeatedly told LaBeouf that he wasn’t welcome and had to leave because he appeared to be drunk, police said.

When the actor refused to leave, the security guard detained him and called police.

After he was arrested, LaBeouf was “very courteous and polite,” and he posted bond before 7 a.m., police said.

LaBeouf, 21, of Glendale, Calif., was charged with misdemeanor criminal trespassing. He is scheduled to appear in court in Branch 29 on Nov. 28 at 9 a.m.

[From CBS2Chicago via WeSmirch]

There was an article in last week’s Star Magazine titled “Does Shia LaBeouf feel like a LOSER?” in a big all-caps font like that. They said he was upset because he never gets recognized, and that he was pissed because he was initially denied entry to the T-Mobile Sidekick LX launch party in L.A:

The 21-year-old Transformers star was denied entry because even the doormen didn’t know who he was! When the party promoters realized their mistake, they ran after Shia, and convinced him to come back - but he wasn’t happy. “Shia came back, but not before he ripped off his wristband and chucked it at one of the promoters,” says an eyewitness. “He threw a bit of a fit - it definitely bothered him.”

[From Star Magazine, print edition, November 5, 2007]

Poor Shia. He will probably get recognized a lot more after this profile-raising drunken stand down. He is also set to star in the new Indiana Jones movie, which is due for release in the US on May 22, 2008.

Shia is shown at the premiere of Hot Rod Movie on 7/26/07 and at the Transformers premiere on 6/27/07. Thanks to PRPhotos.

Lost’s Daniel Dae Kim says he’s “Deeply Ashamed” by DUI

top-screen-capture-professional-13-89.jpg

Well the “Lost” curse may have struck again in the form of Daniel Dae Kim’s arrest on DUI charges last week, but at least he’s being a little more humble and dignified than some of his costars were. Kim issued an apology in which he said he was ashamed and embarrassed by his actions. He thanks those that have been supportive, and acknowledges that he has disappointed people and apologizes. This is in contradiction to Michelle Rodriguez, who abused police and has ranted for years about how unfair it is that she was punished for breaking the law.

Daniel Dae Kim, the Lost star arrested in Hawaii Thursday on a DUI charge, says he’s sorry. “I am deeply ashamed and embarrassed by the events of Thursday morning,” the actor says in a statement to TMZ. “It saddens me to know that I jeopardized the welfare of the kind people of Hawaii, a community that I love and call my home. It is my intention to cooperate fully with the police and I am grateful to them for their sensitivity throughout this matter,” Kim adds. “To my friends, family, colleagues and fans, thank you for your kind words of support. To those I have disappointed I can only ask that you accept my heartfelt apologies.”

Kim, who plays Jin-Soo Kwon on the ABC series, was arrested around 3 a.m. Thursday morning for allegedly driving drunk in Hawaii, where the show is filmed. He’s the latest Lost actor to be charged with drunk driving – Cynthia Watros and Michelle Rodriguez were busted on DUI charges in 2005.

[From People]

Well if nothing else, the guy has some good PR reps and lawyers. He also saw what Cynthia Watros and Michelle Rodriguez’s DUI arrests did to their jobs on the show… and to their careers in general. Kim’s character is much more essential to the show than Watros and Rodriguez’s, but on “Lost” no actor is safe from an angry cloud of smoke smacking them to death against a rock. I don’t know why, but to me it sounds like Kim is pretty sincere in his apology. I couldn’t find any other history of legal problems, so let’s hope this was a one time thing and he learns from it.

Another “Lost” star busted for DUI

top-csh-013912.jpg

What is with the cast of “Lost”? What must their bosses be like, to drive them to such heavy drinking? And then driving? I can’t remember the last time one show had so many actors with the same problem. My next pick for DUI getting was Matthew Fox. Can’t say why. Oh, because I once heard him say in an interview that he knows he’s incredibly manipulative and he likes to spend a lot of time naked. And I just thought “Ding! You’re going to be the next one to drink too much.” Okay not really, but my money was definitely not on Daniel Dae Kim, who plays Jin-Soo Kwon.

Hollywood actor Daniel Dae Kim has become the fourth major cast member of television’s “Lost” to be arrested in Hawaii, TMZ.com said Thursday. Kim, who plays Jin-Soo Kwon on the mystery series filmed in Hawaii, was arrested by Honolulu police early Thursday on suspicion of drunken driving. The Honolulu Advertiser reported Kim was arrested around 3 a.m. and released about two hours later. Details of the arrest weren’t immediately available, TMZ.com said.

Kim’s cast-mates Michelle Rodriguez and Cynthia Watros were arrested for DUI in December 2005. Both actresses, whose characters have since been killed off the show, pleaded guilty. In September of 2006, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje was arrested for disobeying a police officer and driving without a license. His character was also killed off. The charges were later dropped.

[From United Press International]

You know that means he’s going to get killed off! I don’t know if the producers of “Lost” are really law-abiding citizens, or if they don’t want bad press, or if they want their actors to keep a relatively low profile. But what are the odds that the other three got in trouble and just coincidentally got written out of the series? I loved Michelle Rodriguez’s line about how her character was always just supposed to be a one year thing. Bull. I was already pretty stressed about “Lost” in general, but now I’m going to be all uppity until it comes back on the air in February. Yeah, freaking February.
