Elizabeth Hurley files for divorce, cites Arun Nayar’s “unreasonable behavior”

wenn2916916

Back in December, we found out that Elizabeth Hurley is still pretty sleazy (Sleaz-E, her nickname). It seems Liz torpedoed her marriage to millionaire Arun Nayar when her affair with Australian womanizer/cricketer Shane Warne went public (photos below). The British tabloids caught Liz and Shane frolicking at some hotel, and shortly after the photos were published, Liz got all sanctimonious and released a statement saying that she and Arun had been separated for a while, and she was basically just out getting hers and we shouldn’t judge (to read more go to our Liz Hurley archives, I wrote a lot about it). Anyway, Liz has now officially filed for divorce, and she’s making Arun sound like the bad guy. In the divorce filing, she cites Arun’s “unreasonable behavior”. What could that be, Liz? It was so “unreasonable” for Arun to think Liz would NOT screw around? It was “unreasonable” that Arun’s family treated Liz like some British tart (which, obviously, they were right about)? It was “unreasonable” that Arun wasn’t as rich as Liz originally thought? Or, Liz thinks it’s “unreasonable” that Arun is moving on with a 25-year-old – while Liz and Shane Warne continue their very public affair? WTF?

Four months after announcing their split, Elizabeth Hurley filed for divorce from estranged husband Arun Nayar yesterday. The model/actress filed papers at London’s High Court citing the Indian textile heir’s ‘unreasonable behaviour’. The decision to formally end their union comes after just four years of marriage and amidst her burgeoning romance with Australian cricketer Shane Warne.

Hurley, 45, disclosed her split from Nayar, 46, in December after she was photographed kissing Warne, 41, in a London hotel. The Estee Lauder spokesmodel insisted she and Nayar had separated months earlier, but her husband was said to be upset by the photos.

However, Nayar has already been spotted dating model Kim Johnson, 25, in recent weeks. The Austin Powers star insisted this week on Twitter she would not be marrying Warne. She Tweeted: ‘Apparently I’m getting married & moving to Australia. Wow, my fictional tabloid life is exciting! Breathlessly awaiting next instalment…’

Hurley’s legal moves comes just days after she returned from Los Angeles, where she spent the past few weeks filming new TV series Wonder Woman. During her trip Stateside, Hurley has been spotted out and about with Warne – the first time she had seen him since her Valentine’s Day visit to Australia in February. The pair were first linked in July after Hurley was photographed chatting to Warne at the Glorious Goodwood Festival. Over the next few months, they exchanged flirty text messages on Twitter.

After the couple were photographed kissing in a London hotel in mid-December, the former actress decided to go public with her marriage breakdown from Nayar.

She announced she had split from Nayar on her Twitter page, writing: ‘For the record, my husband Arun and I separated a few months ago. Our close family and friends were aware of this.’

Around the same time, Warne confirmed he too was no longer with ex-wife Simone Callahan, having split up two months earlier despite continuing to live together in Melbourne with their children.

He wrote on his website: ‘Sadly and unfortunately, Simone and I split up a while ago, our close friends and family were informed at that time. It is a private matter so we did not make it public. We remain friends and will continue to be good parents.’

[From The Daily Mail]

I doubt Liz is foolish enough to think that she and Shane Warne are going to live happily ever after. First, Liz is not a “happily ever after” kind of woman – she’s a drama queen, and Shane is good for drama. Second, Shane is still screwing anything with two legs and pulse, so it’s not like Liz is coming into this junk with any expectations of Shane’s fidelity. But is Liz just getting her rocks off? I might respect that, in general, if Liz didn’t come across looking so dumb. She’s dumb to get involved with such a notorious, cheesy, man-slut (with highlights). And she’s dumb to try to play the divorce like Arun did something wrong – she was the one outed, having an affair. Ugh. Sleaz-E.

Liz Hurley’s marriage wasn’t really “over” before she cheated

wenn8439

So I thought it would be cute to use some older photos of Liz Hurley and Hugh Grant to illustrate this story about how Liz homewrecked her own marriage to Arun Nayar, and how Hugh Grant has already “stopped by” Liz’s house to pay his respects (with his dong). Anyway, as I was looking through the old photos, I was transported to a time when they were a seriously hot couple. The photo of Hugh’s hand on Liz’s leather-clad ass is my favorite, I think. Anyway, yes, Hugh has stopped by, and Liz has already done a round of post-split photo ops (see here at The Mail) – and surprisingly enough, the British tabloids aren’t really smearing her. Yet. Probably because they know she’s good for scandal, and because everyone secretly wants her back with Hugh anyway.

wenn8386

There are some new developments in Liz and Arun’s marriage drama. According to British sources, they are set to do a “quickie divorce” and neither Liz nor Arun will be asking for financial support from the other. Arun’s family has allegedly cut off Arun for the most part, so Liz walks away from the marriage with more money, maybe. A source says: “’It will be an amicable settlement with no party giving out large portions of money to anybody. Liz doesn’t want Arun’s money and neither is Arun interested in her wealth.” Also: apparently, Liz called the Nayar family in India to personally apologize for being a dirty whore with the Australian Paris Hilton, Shane Warne. Another source says: “’Liz was very matter-of-fact. She just said that there are certain irreparable differences between her and Arun and that she intends to separate from him. She also said that she’s sorry.” I’m sure that call was AMAZING. Anyway, the American tabloids are getting into it too – Us Weekly has a report that Liz’s “we separated months ago” story wasn’t the whole truth:

Elizabeth Hurley’s marital drama isn’t quite over yet. After the model-turned-actress, 45, was photographed kissing Australian cricket player Shane Warne, 41, she Tweeted that she and businessman hubby of three years Arun Nayar had “separated a few months ago.” (Warne made a similar announcement about his marriage shortly after.)

But a source tells UsMagazine.com the split wasn’t exactly that clean.

“They had been having marriage problems for some time, but Arun wasn’t prepared to give up so easily,” says the insider. “Liz, on the other hand, gave up and didn’t tell her husband. Instead she went out and found someone else and then broke the news to him. He is gutted.”

Behind the breakup? “He wanted children so badly,” says the insider, while Hurley, who had son Damian with Steve Bing in 2002, “didn’t want to go through the pain of IVF. Liz doesn’t compromise, everything was her way or no way.”

Now, says the source, Nayar is scared he won’t be able to see Hurley’s son. “He doesn’t want to lose Damian,” says the insider. “They are so close — he is ‘Daddy’ to Damian. And he’s embarrassed that his marriage fell apart so publicly. He feels Liz intentionally humiliated him.”

As for Hurley’s new romance, “It’s a rebound,” sniffs the insider. “They’ll be over before you know it.”

[From Us Weekly]

Of course Liz and Shane have to be over soon. Liz and Hugh FOREVER. But seriously, as I was looking through the old photos, there are so many of Hugh and Liz hanging out post-breakup (their breakup), and lots of Hugh hanging out with Damien, his godson. THIS is why Hugh hasn’t been able to “settle down” with a woman since Liz (although he did last a while with Liz-lookalike Jemima Khan). Because he and Liz still live in each other’s pockets, so to speak. Another way to say it? They’re still stuck up each other’s asses.

Did Liz Hurley cheat on Arun Nayar for an ego boost?

wenn2901665

Yesterday, News of the World broke the scandalously delicious story that Elizabeth Hurley was/is fooling around on her husband Arun Nayar. Liz and Arun have been married for three years, although they’ve been together since 2002. He made her wait for a while, and once married, he bought her a big country estate with a farm, and Liz made this big deal about how she was a country girl and all of that. Meanwhile, she went to London at the drop of a hat to attend the opening of an envelope, and Arun didn’t always go with her. Anyway, Liz was screwing around with Shane Warne, who is something of a notorious man-whore. After the NOTW story broke, Liz tweeted that she and Arun had been separated for months, a little tidbit designed, I suppose, to make her look like something other than a chick who just bones any rich guy she meets. Anyway, the British tabloids are all over this, and The Mail is running an interesting piece on the problems within Arun and Liz’s marriage. You might not find this interesting, I know, but I find it fascinating. Liz is now and has always a pretty trashy woman, and it cracks me up that she tries to sell herself as this wronged LADY, don’t you know:

All but her most devoted fans will attest that Liz Hurley is not a particularly good actress. But she and Arun Nayar have made a good job of pretending all was well in their three-year marriage. Only six weeks ago, she did her usual legs-cleavage-smile routine when the couple attended Elton John’s Winter Ball. To those who knew her well, however, yesterday’s announcement that the marriage has been over ‘for some months’ will have come as little surprise.

It had become increasingly clear behind the scenes that the marriage which started with such an exhausting display of wealth and togetherness in 2007 was on the rocks.

‘He was hardly ever with her and she didn’t seem to mind one bit,’ said one of her society pals yesterday.

‘I’d been hearing that it was over between them for more than a year, but she was always very positive about him when you asked her,’ says another.

Perhaps the most significant clue was that this year she and Arun didn’t go on their usual sunshine holiday in October, even though it was her customary birthday present to her husband. Others had noted how Hurley had started taking her new best friend, the gay shoe designer Patrick Cox, to social events instead of her husband. I’m told she has even invited Cox to be her guest at her Gloucestershire home this Christmas, indicating that she had been quietly planning for her first festive season as a single woman. One thing is for sure: though the public exposé of her extra-marital fling will have come as an embarrassment, the relationship between her and Nayar was already over when into the vacuum stepped Shane Warne – precisely the sort of diverting and dangerous company that she had missed so much.

You can see why the attentions of such a notorious womaniser would be catnip to a woman who is not yet ready to let go of her racy image. (You don’t go out braless and in see-through shirts at the age of 45, as she does, if you aren’t in search of a bit of attention from the opposite sex.)

So if this was her little ego-boost after the end of her marriage, when did the troubles begin?

In truth, the union between Hurley and Nayar had always been a fiery one. The couple met in late 2002 but even in the blissful early days of Eurotrash parties and ski-ing at St Moritz there was ‘heavy bickering’. Right from the outset, Arun struggled at being seen so much in Liz’s shadow. She, meanwhile, was impatient when it came to his gentle nature. She was especially annoyed by his relaxed approach to securing a divorce from his first wife, the Italian-born model Valentina Pedroni, who was never slow to issue disobliging remarks about Hurley ‘stealing’ her husband. In the end it took Nayar almost five years to become a free agent, and to be able to give Hurley the wedding of her dreams – an immense affair at Sudeley Castle, owned by her friend Henry Dent-Brocklehurst, followed by lavish Hindu ceremonies in Rajasthan. (The event was, of course, recorded for posterity over a mere 53 pages in Hello! magazine, which can now add another name to its long list of those whose marriage has been ‘cursed’ by featuring in the publication.)

Since then the relationship has progressed through several rocky troughs, thanks largely to Hurley’s spectacular temper. She will admit that she is ‘nervy’ and ‘hyper’, whereas Nayar is laid back and gentle. He used to call her ‘Minx’ because he thought she was intoxicatingly sexy, but full of drama and mischief. She, in return, called him Slick – a joke about his vanity and taste for the high life. (His collection of expensive watches apparently has to be seen to be believed.) Nayar, an Oxford graduate, gave up a lot to marry the siren of Basingstoke – principally his playboy lifestyle which revolved around the more expensive European nightclubs and spending January in St Moritz and August in Nice. He was horrified when Hurley wanted to move out of Chelsea and into the country, where Nayar, a moneyed sophisticate who reads the Christie’s catalogue in bed and collects cufflinks, was reduced to acting mostly as La Hurley’s number one employee. (She has eight other staff on hand, should he fall short.)

It’s perhaps no wonder, then, that Nayar has needed to travel to Mumbai to attend to his computer software business regularly. I’m told he has recently been there for at least one week in four, and sometimes considerably more than that. As a result, locals in Gloucestershire have been convinced for some time that all was not well in the relationship. The talk in their circle was that Arun was fatally unglamorous, and did not, in the end, manage to fulfil his high-maintenance wife’s expectations.

His relative lack of financial success is said to have been a bit of a strain, too. They reportedly relied on Hurley’s income from Estee Lauder, for whom she continues to model, to finance their fancy holidays. One time, he even flew using her Airmiles. For Nayar, too, life in Britain was becoming a bit of a let-down. In Mumbai, he still has considerable social cachet – he’s the heir to a textiles fortune and his family are well known. In Britain, he was simply Mr Liz Hurley. And of course, there had always been a third person in the Hurley/Nayar marriage from the outset, namely Hugh Grant, who has lived at their home for extended periods, and holidays with the couple every August. In an interview this year, Hurley admitted: ‘My overall best friend is Hugh. There is a part of my life neither Arun nor my sister Katie understand; a career part and a different emotional level where Hugh is still my number one. We’ve been best friends for 24 years and that’s not nothing.’

She denies that there is even a faint flutter of sexual jealousy on any side, blustering: ‘We’re all grown up, and if I wanted to be with Hugh, we would be together.’ But many were left wondering what marriage can accommodate a bond like that. On a more practical level, as Nayar struggled to keep his business going during the global financial crisis, his wife had seldom been busier. She has concluded the filming of a Living TV fly-on-the-wall documentary about her particularly glammed up version of country life, and recently launched her own range of snack bars and beef jerky. Then there’s her range of swimwear, which she continues to promote. (Her Christmas card this year features her in a tiny bronze bikini from the Liz Hurley Beach collection, posing with a family of polar bears.)

Day to day, her brother Michael helps her to run her organic 400-acre farm, with its Old Spot pigs and Herdwick sheep, but it is an exhausting and time-consuming business. She also has Damian, her eight-year-old son by former boyfriend Steve Bing, to look after. She is devoted to ‘Master D’ as she calls him, and feeds him his tea while juggling the multiple demands of her empire.

Which brings us to one other major sadness in her marriage: the couple’s failure to have a baby. She admitted that she and Nayar had been trying for years without any luck. Now that she is 45 she had started to accept that any further children were unlikely. ‘Arun would love one,’ she said recently. ‘And I think it would be great if one came along. But we’re grateful for what we’ve got.’

She said Nayar was a ‘full father figure’ to her son. ‘Damian calls him daddy. He knows he’s not his blood father. He’ll sometimes forget, though, and say, “Tell me again why dad’s brown and we’re so white”. And I’ll say, “He’s not blood, remember”.’

That remark may have been casually made, but it does bear testimony to Liz Hurley’s instinct for independence. Her friends have long admired her ability to do it all on her own – the modelling, the mothering and the earning. But as her marriage ends, it means of course that she has absolutely nothing to lose now that she’s moving on.

[From The Daily Mail]

God, this is good. Money, lies, babies, deceit, fame, and Hugh Grant endlessly hanging around as the third wheel. I’m telling you, Liz is crazy. It’s insane to me that Arun ever married her – what the hell was he thinking? Her blow jobs can’t be that good, you know.

Oh, and this Shane Warne guy just announced that his on-again/off-again marriage is over too. I think the woman is technically his ex-wife, but they were living together in Australia.

Liz Hurley is cheating on her husband with an Aussie cricket player (update)

Okay, this story was broken by The News of the World, and allegedly they have photo evidence, but you have to PAY to see or read the stuff online, and I’m not paying for it. Especially when other news outlets are doing such a good job summarizing. Apparently, Elizabeth Hurley is screwing around on her husband Arun Nayar with an Australian cricket player named Shane Warne, the dude in the photo above, with Liz just a few months ago. NOTW apparently has photos of Liz and Shane in “a series of steamy-looking clinches.” The two know each other, obviously, and have been quite friendly in public before. SCANDAL. The Daily Mail has some interesting photos here, and here’s the basic gist:

Liz was waking up this morning to a string of allegations in The News Of The World after she was seen in a series of steamy-looking clinches with cricket star Shane Warne. The paper also claims that she’d spent two nights with the womanising Australian, 41, in his London hotel suite this week. The report says the pair were also captured on video embracing and kissing outside restaurant Sake No Hana.

A source is quoted in the paper today as saying: ‘They were so passionate they looked like honeymooners. It was electric.’

The News of the World said: ‘Hurley and Warne roared with laughter and chatted like old friends during the lively meal in a first-floor room. And at 1am they were spotted going down the escalator to the lobby area. While they waited for their coats to be brought to them Hurley reportedly pulled Warne towards her into a darkened doorway, cupped his face with her hands and leaned in to lock lips. After releasing from their clinch they gazed into each other’s eyes and smiled adoringly.’

They were also said to have flirted again in front of Liz’s ex fiance Hugh Grant during the meal on Wednesday night.

The 45-year-old actress, swimwear model and mother of eight-year-old Damian, who now runs an organic farm in Gloucestershire, wed Indian tycoon Arun Nayar in 2007. They tied the knot in a string of extravagant ceremonies that she sold to magazines for millions.

There were rumours last year that their marriage was in trouble, all hotly denied by Liz.

Hurley and Warne were reportedly spotted exchanging more lingering kisses after popping out of the cricketer’s luxury £1,750-a-night suite at the Bentley Hotel in South Kensington – less than one mile from Hurley’s London home. On their second night together, they were locked away in the same suite for more than 11 hours, the paper said. They were also seen smooching and kissing again during a meal on Thursday at San Lorenzo in Chelsea.

A witness told the paper: ‘They looked completely smitten and blissfully happy together.’

The pair, who first met in July at Goodwood races, have been exchanging flirty Twitter messages for months. At first, the banter was about the fact that they were initially reported as ‘old friends’ after their first meeting. But the tone between them soon got more and more familiar, with Hurley calling father-of-three ‘Angel’ in public messages that could be seen by her 35,138 followers, and the 251,281 people that subscribe to Warne’s Twitter feed.

In one bizarre message that appears to be a coded message from a dog, Hurley tells Warne: ‘Sammy sends you a special lick and says he’d like to put his silky head on your shoulder.’

More recent Tweets came this week when Warne messaged Hurley about a adventure park ride he went on during a trip to Abu Dhabi, saying: ‘I screamed so loud when ride took off I’m surprised you din not hear me back in the uk !!!’

Liz replied: ‘Oooooh, I loved scary rides – remember to scream if you want to go faster!’

She also calls him her ‘favourite Australian’ and calls herself a ‘Converted Cricket Fan’.

A notorious philanderer, Warne split from Simone, the mother of his children Brooke, 13, Jackson, 11 and Summer, 8, after a string of affairs. They divorced in 2007, but got back together in 2009 for a trial reunion. However, it didn’t work out though he still lives with his ex-wife in Melbourne.

There has been no response as yet to the MailOnline about the allegations from either Hurley’s or Warne’s representatives.

[From The Daily Mail]

Yeah, Liz was doing him. Poor Arun! He made her wait and wait to get married (and boy, was his family pissed), and now she’s screwing around on him. This is just my opinion, of course – I think Liz is kind-of an old whore who will do just about any famous or rich guy (bless her heart). And she loves her glamour – it was only a matter of time before she tried to release herself out of the “I’m just a country gardener” shackles. And this is how she’s done it.

UPDATE: And now Liz and Arun have just announced their split! Oh, Liz. You old whore.

Elizabeth Hurley’s three-year marriage to Arun Nayar is on the rocks. On Sunday, the model-actress, 45, Tweeted: “Not a great day. For the record, my husband Arun and I separated a few months ago. Our close family & friends were aware of this.”

Hurley’s announcement coincided with a News of the World report claiming her alleged affair with cricketer Shane Warne; the tabloid has pictures and video of the couple kissing, and says that they spent the night together Wednesday at London’s Bentley Hotel.

[From Us Weekly]

Wow, that’s convenient! She and her husband separated months ago and she only thought to announce it AFTER she’s caught screwing another dude.

Liz Hurley & Arun Nayar’s marriage on the rocks

There are some juicy rumors swirling about Elizabeth Hurley’s marriage to Indian billionaire Arun Nayar. After a particularly nasty wedding, the pair has barely been married for two years. Some of the couple’s closest friends are already wondering aloud if they’ll make it through a third year. The Sunday Telegraph’s gossip guy “Mandrake” is reporting that Liz has “made no effort to deny the claims” and the official word from Hurley‘s spokesperson is “no comment” rather than “those rumors have no basis”. Here’s more from The Sunday Telegraph:

Elizabeth Hurley has been phenomenally busy since she married Arun Nayar in 2007.

With a swimwear and gift company, an organic farm in Gloucestershire and her various television and modelling commitments, she has sometimes been unable to spend as much time with her husband as she might have liked. Now, friends of the 43-year-old actress have expressed their concern that all may not be well in the couple’s marriage.

Last night, there was even speculation that they may be about to announce their separation. Surprisingly, perhaps, when Mandrake contacted Miss Hurley’s spokesman to ask her about the rumours, she made no effort to deny the claims. After a long pause, the spokesman said there would be no comment.

The couple, who married in two lavish ceremonies, at Sudeley Castle and in India, have been together since 2002. Miss Hurley has a six-year-old son, Damian, from a brief relationship with the American businessman Steve Bing.

However, she has no children with Nayar and has made no secret of the fact that she yearns for a baby. He had no children with his first wife, the Italian model Valentina Pedroni.

Hugh Grant, who courted Miss Hurley for 13 years, is a godfather to Damian. Somewhat unusually, the actor accompanied the model and her husband as they cruised around the Mediterranean last year.

From The Sunday Telegraph

As far as Liz “yearning” for a baby with Nayar, I’m sort of disbelieving. I realize that there are so many breakthroughs in fertility treatments, and when all else fails, people with those kinds of means can adopt. But Nayar knew he was marrying a woman in her forties, so why this shock that they haven’t been able to conceive thus far? Of course, the other explanation is that they aren’t trying to have a child, and simply like their lives as is.

At this point, I would enjoy seeing Hugh Grant and Liz Hurley get back together. I really think they made each other happy, and the revelation that Hugh came along on Liz and Nayar’s vacation cracked me up. Nayar sounds like a very understanding husband. His family was right, he could do better.

Liz Hurley retouches her own holiday photos, and may be pregnant

If you thought Liz Hurley was stingy, uptight, but with a surprisingly tolerant attitude to prostitutes and the men who frequent them, you can now add that she’s a little, ahem, vain.

She said: “I like a certain amount of retouching, like anybody. We all like to get rid of spots and shadows under our eyes.

“I don’t have professional Photoshop, just the one that comes with your camera. Every time I download my holiday snaps, I always go over them. Just the red eye and the colour enhancement. I don’t do any slimming because you need a silly programme – but the colour enhancing is heaven.

“Vanity retouching – who wouldn’t?”

Although Liz – who has just designed a bikini range for Spanish high street fashion store Mango – is happy to have her body digitally enhanced, she refuses to let anyone change her face.

The 42-year-old star added in an interview with Britain’s Style magazine: “I’ve always been quite particular – I don’t like my face to be retouched. Often, people will want to correct one’s face, and with me, they always want to change my nose. And I say, ‘No, no, I can’t look like that. I don’t mind if you want to make me a bit thinner and a bit younger, but you can’t give me a different jaw or eyebrows.”

New Zealand Herald

Looking at these pictures of Liz’s latest modeling expedition, she’s skipped the retouching and simply gotten a 25-year-old lookalike to pose in a swinsuit.

Fortunately, we still have the paparazzi snaps, so one day Liz will be able to look back and see how she actually looked. For crying out loud woman, you’re 42 years old and have a kid, you look better than about 90% of the population, try to grow old gracefully! I know you might be saying this all tongue in cheek, but Liz, we sort of believe you.

Liz is also rumored to be pregnant, with husband Arun Nayer. Elton John was said to have been congratulating her at an April 8 Breast Cancer Research fundraiser, by rubbing her belly. She has a 6-year-old son named Damien, with television producer Stephen Bing.

Thanks to WENN for these photos of Liz Hurley and Arun Nayer at the Breast Cancer Research Foundation’s Pink Party on 4/8/08.

Liz Hurley accused of paying maid $2.50 an hour

In case you accidentally didn’t totally hate Liz Hurley, have I got a story for you. Liz is apparently pretty darn cheap. And not in that cute, “I still buy my shoes at Payless” way, but in that “I buy the very best for myself and stiff the little people as brutally as I can” way. Last month, Helen reported that Liz and her husband Arun Nayer stiffed the church at which they were married. The couple had promised to buy the church a set of kneelers as payment. That was considered tacky enough, as the standard donation is $2000. And it’s generally customary to give more based on your wealth – but Liz gave less. And while that was ungracious enough, she and Arun still haven’t ponied up and actually supplied the kneelers. Heaven forbid they actually compensate the church for their services. Unfortunately, this hasn’t been some little oversight that can happen to anyone, it turns out it was very much indicative of Liz’s character.

Several UK papers are reporting that Liz Hurley and Arun Nayer have been accused of paying their maid as little as $2.50 an hour. At times she was forced to work from 7:30 in the morning all the way until 3 in the morning the next day.

Liz Hurley and husband Arun Nayar have been accused of paying their Indian maid as little as £1.20 an hour. Violet d’Souza, who is said to have been brought to Britain by Mr Nayar’s family, claims she was paid in rupees for working up to 70 hours a week at the couple’s Chelsea home.

Ms d’Souza, 31, says she worked several days a week at the Chelsea house, where she also lived. Her chores included cleaning, cooking and babysitting from 7.30am until, on occasions, 3am the next day. According to the Daily Mirror, the couple paid her 8,000 rupees a week – around £100. The equivalent hourly rate would be between £1.40 and £1.60, and sometimes as little as £1.20 if she worked long hours. The legal minimum wage is £5.52. Hurley, 42, is said to be worth £13 million from acting and modeling contracts while Mr Nayar, 43, comes from a wealthy Indian textiles family.

[From the Daily Mail]

The Daily Mirror says that d’Souza withdrew her claims after she was given a five-figure settlement. She was scheduled to have a hearing in front of the employment tribunal tomorrow. Ms. d’Souza was fired without warning by the couple, supposedly after getting into an argument with them. I’m guessing a person can get a little cranky after working for 20 hours in a row. Ms. d’Souza was then immediately kicked out of the residence, which was her only shelter. She took refuge at her aunt’s home, where she learned that she was being paid illegal wages. She was able to get an Oxford-educated lawyer to represent her for free from the Citizens Advice Bureau, so it sounds like she had a legitimate case. I’ve never been a big Liz Hurley fan. There’s something about her that I can’t put my finger on, but I find her distasteful. Now hearing that she’s stiffed a church and paid her maid $200 a week, I find her utterly contemptible and disgusting. Unfortunately she’s settled the claim, so there won’t be any penalty for her. Except for a bit of unkind press.

Liz Hurley Is Stingy

stingy1.jpg
Liz Hurley is a stingy ol’ lass. I could have used miser, or scrooge, or cheapskate, but screw up your face a little and say stingy. Feels good, doesn’t it? After marrying last March at Sudeley Castle, rather than giving the standard donation of £1,000, Liz and hubby Arun Nayer promised the church a new set of kneelers. For those of you not in the Catholic way, they’re cushions for, er, kneeling on when praying.

The church is still waiting on their dozen cushions.

Last October when news of the kneeler gift was first revealed a spokeswoman for Liz Hurley said it was hoped the dozen kneelers would be ready in time for Christmas services.

But Sue Williams, church treasurer, said today “We still haven’t received any kneelers as yet.

“They will go straight to the castle so we are basically waiting with bated breath for Lady Ashcombe, the castle owner, to inform us when they have arrived.

“We’ve had no direct contact with Liz or her representatives.

“The issue of the kneelers was discussed at a meeting last week. I suppose they will be arriving soon, but we’ve had no word.”

The Daily Mail

Sue Williams also adds that she was ‘disgusted’ to hear that the kneelers would be donated, instead of the much-needed cash. Like most churches the running costs are raised from donations. She also expected the celebrity couple to donate more, in view of their wealth.

Expecting a celebrity to donate more than a non-celeb is a little unfair, but I can see Ms Williams’ point. Liz was wed in a Versace dress, she sold her wedding photos to Hello magazine, and the whole affair was said to cost about £2 million.

Then the couple headed to Mumbai for a six day marathon of celebrating, which included a traditional ‘Haldi’ wedding ceremony, black tie dinner and a cricket match between the bride and groom’s family. Which actually sounds a lot more fun than the Sudeley Castle spectacular.

So in light of this extravagance, I think it is reasonable for the church to demand a donation. Unfortunately, I suspect the issue is that the expectation of a cash donation wasn’t made clear to the couple.

Next time, send an invoice.

Are Hugh Grant and newly-married Liz Hurley reunited?

Hugh Grant and Liz Hurley are currently in NY together, and The Daily Mail reports that Liz’s new husband, software company CEO Arun Nayar, is nowhere to be found. Grant and Hurley have also gone to great lengths not to be photographed in each others company:

Hugh Grant has been caught trying to avoid being photographed in New York with former girlfriend Liz Hurley, the Daily Mail reports.

The Four Weddings and a Funeral star went to extreme lengths to conceal that the pair had attended a dinner party together on Sunday, sparking rumours that the former couple may have reunited.

Moments after 42-year-old Austin Powers star Hurley arrived at a Manhattan hotel, Grant arrived — but an hour later, he emerged in a different suit.

Minutes afterwards, a car arrived to pick up Hurley. Just a few blocks down the road, the car stopped and Grant jumped in.

A few blocks before the venue of Valentino’s dinner party, 47-year-old Grant stepped out of the car, which proceeded to the door to drop off Hurley minutes before Grant arrived.

The next day the two British actors were spotted at an exclusive restaurant, Fred’s, for lunch — again with staggered entries and exits.

It’s possible Liz and Hugh are in NY for different reasons and just happen to be staying at the same hotel and going to parties and restaurants together. They live quite close to each other in London and have remained “friends” after their breakup in 2000. There was a rumor that Hugh’s last girlfriend, Jemima Khan, was jealous of his close friendship with Hurley and that’s what hastened the end of the relationship.

Hugh took a tropical vacation with Elizabeth and her entire family, including her husband of eight months, last month. Maybe they are just close friends.

Grant has his own purpose for being in NY. He is looking for a home in NY City after earning $22 million from the sale of a 1962 portrait of Elizabeth Taylor by famous pop artist Andy Warhol. Is it wrong of me to think that he should have waited until Taylor died to sell it?

Hugh Grant is shown on 2/21/07 at the Music and Lyrics By premiere in Rome. Elizabeth Hurley is shown on 11/8/07 with her husband, Arun Nayar, at the Women of the Future Awards in London. Thanks to PRPhotos.
