Demi Moore & Ashton Kutcher tweet about their Master Cleanse diet

Mental giants Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher don’t think they’re emaciated enough. They’re doing that Master Cleanse diet where you drink water with Cheyenne pepper and maple syrup. The concept is that it somehow detoxes your body while helping you lose weight, but experts counter that it’s dangerous and can result in side effects like dehydration, electrolyte imbalances, depressed mood and irritability. Demi and Ashton are on it, though, and they’re telling people all about it through Twitter.

The couple that deprives themselves together…?

Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore have gone on the super-strict Master Cleanse together, they announced on Twitter.

The eating plan — which Beyonce also used to slim down for Dreamgirls — features “meals” that consist of maple syrup, lemon water and cayenne pepper.

Moore, 47, swears she’s not doing it to lose weight. “This is about health!!!” she Twittered on Sunday.

She added shortly after, “2nd day of master cleanse and off to hike with hubby and the dogs. 2nd day better than the 1st!”

Still, she may not make it much longer. “Let you know if I make it to day 4,” she told one of her followers. See the top 10 legendary workouts.

Kutcher, 32, is having an even harder time. “9 hrs into the master cleanse. I want a steak, a beer, and a blow-pop. Hmmm this is gonna be rough,” he wrote Saturday.

[From US Weekly]

Newsflash to Demi “I’m all natural” Moore: it’s not healthy to starve! Beyonce was widely criticized when she touted the Master Cleanse for helping her lose weight quickly for Dreamgirls. She said that she gained it all back quickly when she started eating fried foods again, though. A better alternative to starving yourself is always to reduce calories to around 1200-1500 a day and exercise. You may not lose weight as quickly but your blood sugar won’t be so low that you can’t think straight and you won’t gain all the weight back once you start eating solid foods again. It amazes me how truly stupid some celebrities can be. What’s worse is that these idiots have fans who will follow their very harmful advice.

Ashton Kutcher helps Rumer Willis buy her $1 million dream home

HOLLYWOOD - AUGUST 03: Actress Rumer Willis (L) and actor Ashton Kutcher arrive to the Los Angeles screening of Anchor Bay Entertainments' 'Spread' held at ArcLight Hollywood Cinemas on August 3, 2009 in Hollywood, California. (Photo by Frazer Harrison/Getty Images for Anchor Bay)

The National Enquirer has a very interesting story about Rumer Willis and her step dad, Ashton Kutcher. Not surprisingly, as Demi’s oldest and closest in age to Ashton (closer in age to him than Demi), Rumer apparently turns to Ashton for advice… and for money. The Enquirer claims that Rumer “fell in love” with a two-bedroom LA bungalow that was suitably “not far from her favorite celebrity hotspots.” The problem? The $1 million price tag, which Rumer couldn’t afford. I guess she’s supporting herself as an actress? And that’s probably why she doesn’t have the money, just a guess. What? I wasn’t trying to be a bitch. Okay, I was. Rumer can’t act, and it doesn’t surprise me that she can’t afford a starter home. Granted, most 21-year-olds can’t afford their own $1 million home. But didn’t you know that Rumer is a movie star?!?

“At first Rumer felt awkward asking Ashton for help,” a source told the Enquirer. “She knows that not all step dads would be so happy to help out with such a big commitment. But Ashton said he would be very happy to help with the purchase, especially when he saw how much she wanted the house. He thinks of her as his own daughter, so it was impossible for him to say no.”

The house is in the same quiet neighborhood as Sacha Baron Cohen’s home, and it’s close to several major studios, so Rumer will have a short commute to casting calls.

The Enquirer has obtained a copy of the deed to her house, which shows that Ashton and Rumer each own 50 percent of the property. Ashton is listed under his birth name of Christopher.

Added the source: “Rumer has been having a blast picking out furniture and decorations to give the place her personal touch.”

[From The Enquirer, print edition]

Question: why didn’t Demi or Bruce help Rumer with the purchase? Were they trying to apply a little tough financial love on their daughter and get her to only purchase what she can afford? And then she ran to her step dad and begged him to buy her a house. I should feel sympathetic, but I’m having my own real estate woes, so f-ck her.

By the way, last weekend Ashton did an extensive interview with The Daily Mail, and he talked about his stepdaughters, his wife and Bruce, of course. The whole thing is worth a read, but there were a couple of interesting quotes I wanted to pull:

I’d sworn off relationships before I met my wife.
We met in New York, where I was hosting Saturday Night Live, and at the time I was saying to myself, ‘I’m going to party, I’m going to sleep with this girl and that girl and just have a good time.’ And then I met Demi and it was like, ‘I can’t not be with this person.’ I think it’s fate in a way. Anyone who’s looking for a relationship can’t find one, but as soon as you let go of the need or desire, it’ll show up, just like that.

Bruce (Willis) is one of my favourite people to hang out with.
At first it was difficult. You think, ‘He’s the guy who used to sleep with my wife’, but once you overcome the jealousy, which is just your own personal insecurity, it gets easier. People ask us, ‘How do you guys get on so well?’ Well, I don’t like everything Bruce does, and I’m sure he doesn’t think everything I do is great. But being with Bruce is normal to me now. We go scuba-diving, skiing, we hang out with the girls together, we watch movies, we talk about sport.

It’s really easy to fly on a private plane and have no idea how much that costs.
I make sure all three of our girls know the value of money and have the experience of doing some physical, blue-collar labour like I did. They really know what it’s like to graft. They’ve worked in a store. I had Rumer work on a construction site with my dad for a while, and Scout went to Guatemala working for Habitat for Humanity and helped to build a house. I think it’s so important.

There’s no such thing as a bad kid; there are just good kids who make bad decisions.
One of the things I do now is go and talk to kids in juvenile detention. I tell them, ‘I’m the guy who sat in jail, I’m the guy who walked around town with my baseball cap down, I’m the guy who tried drugs, I’m the guy who got a girl pregnant.’ When I was a kid, I did all that. Now the world has accepted me. Some people may not like my work, but in some ways I’ve become a role model. So remember, the next time you think of one of those people as bad, they’re just like Ashton. Because the truth is, I was that guy, 100 percent, but I turned my life around.

[From The Daily Mail]

He got a who what now? Pregnant? What? Is there some Kutcher love child that we have no idea about? Or maybe the girl had a miscarriage or abortion. In which case, none of our business. But I found the “value of money” thing very interesting, especially given the $1 million house purchase. Could it be that he’s made Rumer a loan and she has to pay him back directly? If that’s the case, poor Rumer. Having a step-father as “the bank”. Yikes.

Demi Moore is jealous of Ashton’s flirtations with Natalie Portman
Ashton Kutcher And Natalie Portman On Set!

There’s a lot of Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher gossip in this week’s tabloids, but most of it is related to Ashton’s recent Nightline interview and the overanalysis about whether he wants Demi to get pregnant because she is, in his words, a “genetic freak”. However, In Touch Weekly does have an interesting story about Demi getting jealous over Ashton’s newest costar, Natalie Portman.

An insider tells In Touch that Demi Moore is “worried” about Ashton and his Friends With Benefits costar Natalie Portman spending time together.

“It’s driving Demi crazy… she knows how much Ashton loves her, but she’s concerned that he is working with Natalie, who’se almost 20 years younger than she is.”

Demi can be very self-conscious about the 15-year age difference between herself and her husband – and having to watch him film sexy scenes with 28-year-old Natalie “isn’t making it any easier.”

Demi has never been jealous of Ashton’s costars before, but she may be on to something this time. Three days after Ashton and Natalie filmed a steamy kissing scene, Ashton told Howard Stern that love scenes are like “free cheating.” Though he was careful to add that he confessed everything to his wife because she’s his “best friend,” the insider says that Demi isn’t as cool with it as she’s letting him think.

“I’m sure Ashton doesn’t even realize it’s bothering Demi,” the insider says.

“Natalie has had some on-set romances in the past,” a friend tells In Touch, adding that even thought she’s in a serious relationship with dancer Benjamin Millepied, she still flirts with other men. “She is in love with Ben, but Natalie has always had a way with men.”

And though she no interest in getting a rep for being the “other woman” it’s clear Natalie has chemistry with Ashton. “Natalie loves his sense of humor and likes spending time with him,” says the friend.

“Demi has told Ashton that she’s visiting him on the set to get to know Natalie,” says the insider. “But she’s actually going to check up on him.”

[From In Touch Weekly, print edition]

Yeah, I totally doubt all of this. I doubt Ashton is all over Natalie, and I doubt she finds him charming in the least. Most of all, I doubt Demi is insecure about Ashton at all. The subtext seems to be that Demi is a bundle of insecurity just because Natalie is younger, when clearly that’s not what Ashton cares about.

Going back to the whole “Demi Moore is a genetic freak” thing, Us Weekly also has a story about Demi undergoing fertility treatments in the hopes of having Ashton’s baby. According to that source, “Ashton has been uneasy that things haven’t happened fast enough… he’s constantly calling the doctor to find out is there’s something else they can do to get pregnant. It has to be exhausting. He’s ready to be a dad.” The source also claims: “They’re not even thinking of a surrogate as an option. At least not yet.”

Demi Moore will write tell-all memoir about Ashton, Bruce & her costars
Time's 100 Most Influential People Gala!

Is there anything else we really need to know about Demi Moore? She appears on countless magazine covers, gives interviews about her sex life with Ashton Kutcher and how she’s never had any work done to her face, she tweets every bowel movement and random thought, so what else is there to know? Quite a bit, apparently. Demi is meeting with New York publishers to work out a deal for her memoirs. Demi is allegedly pitching it as a tell-all about her marriage to Bruce Willis, her costars (including Robert Redford, Tom Cruise, Patrick Swayze), and her marriage to Ashton Kutcher.

After almost 40 films, a stint on ‘General Hospital,’ a nude and pregnant Vanity Fair cover and two notable marriages to Hollywood heavyweights, Demi Moore is ready to tell all, the Associated Press reports.

Moore’s agent, Luke Janklow, confirms that his client, one of this generation’s most successful and talked-about actresses, is indeed meeting with different publishers in New York about penning a memoir. Though Janklow refused to comment further, an autobiography from Demi Moore would surely cause riptides in Hollywood.

Moore is best known for her movie roles in ‘St. Elmo’s Fire,’ ‘Ghost,’ ‘A Few Good Men’ and ‘Indecent Proposal.’ In 2003, she raised eyebrows with her fabulous-over-40 bikini body in the second installment of ‘Charlie’s Angels.’ With a memoir coming out, secrets from the sets of these movies, co-starring, among others, Robert Redford, Patrick Swayze, Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz, might be revealed.

The publishing world would also eat up a behind-the-scenes peek at her ten-year marriage to action star Bruce Willis and the birth of their three children, Rumor, Scout and Tallulah. A no-holds-barred view into her current life with her husband, actor and social networking guru Ashton Kutcher, would push sales and grab public interest. Not to mention the unique relationship between Willis and Kutcher … A quick look at her fling with Scientology (if she discussed it) and her current relationship with Kabbalah could also be compelling.

While the content of her memoir is still being discussed behind closed doors, there’s not doubt a Moore tell-all would be a hot commodity in Hollywood. They might even make it into a movie.

[From PopEater]

Okay… so it doesn’t sound terrible. It might be something that I would read, especially if I got the book for free. It would be interesting to know more about what happened between Demi and Bruce, and I always enjoy stories about who was a bitch on a film set. Plus, Demi has worked with several really interesting people, so it wouldn’t just be a litany of “Who?” when you were reading those sections. All in all, maybe this memoir isn’t a terrible idea.

God, remember when Bruce was just the hottest thing?

Ashton Kutcher: Demi Moore is a “genetic freak”
Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher arrive at Time Magazines 100 Most Influential People Gala at the Time Warner Center in New York

For some strange reason, Nightline sat down with Ashton Kutcher for an extensive and wide-ranging interview. Dude? What? ABC News promotes the interview with this: “In a wide-ranging interview with McFadden, Kutcher, 32, talked about everything from the changing media to his personal chef to the chances that he’ll have children with his wife, Demi Moore. He even talked about the gun he keeps under his bed.” Shiver. It sounds like a threat! Star Magazine has an advanced copy of the interview, which airs tomorrow night:

After five years of marriage, Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore still get asked about their plans to have a baby. Surely Demi’s biological clock is ticking fast at 47, so is it even possible to conceive a child together at this point?

“I think my wife is a genetic freak,” Ashton jokes to Nightline’s Cynthia McFadden in an interview to air Thursday. “I’m not worried.”

The bigger question now is whether Ashton and Demi want to be tied down raising a baby. The answer: “I don’t know… it’s ‘I don’t know,’” says Ashton, who has helped raise Demi’s three daughters from her marriage to ex-husband Bruce Willis.

“There is something attractive about our third girl gaining some independence,” the 32-year-old says. “I get to walk the dogs in the morning because she can drive herself to school now, there is a level of independence that we’ve never had since our relationship started, and an ability to spend time together doing things that we might want to take advantage of. Because in our relationship we’ve always had kids.”

Ashton, who has become quite the activist for social injustice, explains, “We get to do a lot of things now, and having Bruce as such a great partner in raising the kids, affords us a lot. There is something very attractive about what we can do in the world and for the world, given that responsibility in a different place.”

[From Star Magazine]

Well, Demi is some kind of freak, I’m not sure if we should call it “genetic”. Although I’m sure Demi is working on some gene replacement therapy, all in the hopes of keeping her face tighter than… Adam Shankman’s pants. See, I started that sentence and I didn’t know how to finish it. In truth, there’s nothing tighter than Demi’s face.

Now, the qualms about calling Demi a “genetic freak” aside, I love how Ashton talks about his stepdaughters. And I buy it – I think he’s probably a very involved and loving stepfather, and I love all of the ways he uses “our” and “we”. It sounds like it’s for real, doesn’t it?

ABC News also released some of Ashton’s quotes about Brittany Murphy. When asked about if he’s made any sense about her death, Ashton said: “I don’t think you can, I don’t know if you try to make sense of it or not…I just celebrate who she was… She was like the person who walked in the room and she was always the first person to dance. You know when you go to a party and everybody is standing around, and the music is going — and you know sooner or later everyone is going to dance. She was always the first person to dance. And I just try to connect to that and celebrate who she was and how she was, and not make sense of it, ’cause there is no sense of making sense of it.” Sad. And he sounds honest too – I always got the feeling they had a bad breakup and he really broke her heart.

Lady Gaga, Ashton Kutcher & Sparkles make Time’s “Most Influential” list
Photo by: AT1/Xposure/starmaxinc.com 2010 3/17/10 Robert Pattinson at the premiere of Rem

Time Magazine’s annual “Most Influential People” list has come out, and it’s a doozy. I generally enjoy the lists, just because they’re a good read, but I almost always disagree with the people who make the “Most Influential Artists” portion. This year is no different. Time’s list of most influential artists includes, in no particular order: Lady Gaga, Conan O’Brien, Kathryn Bigelow, Oprah, Robert “Sparkles” Pattinson, Ashton Kutcher, Taylor Swift, Neil Patrick Harris, the Lost dudes (Cuse and Lindelof), Prince, Lea Michele, Simon Cowell, Banksy, Marc Jacobs, Elton John, Sandra Bullock, James Cameron and Ricky Gervais.

Yes, you read that right. SPARKLES! Pattinson made the list, Twihards, although Kristen Stewart was c-ckblocked, probably because she chopped off her Bella hair. Gaga I actually agree with – she’s what’s happening in music today. I also love the inclusion of Neil Patrick Harris and the Lost dudes, because of their cult-like popularity. But Prince? Seriously? What is this, 1991? Lea Michele? Seriously? Ashton Kutcher? REALLY?

Here are some excerpts:

ROBERT PATTINSON by Chris Weitz:
I have to be careful about what I write here because it will be tweeted the moment TIME hits the stands. And if I say something bad about Rob Pattinson, I’m dead meat. That’s the devotion the Twilight films inspire. It’s certainly not how he planned it. And though I am continually impressed by the aplomb with which he handles the hysteria, I occasionally think he would take it all back if given the chance. Because essentially, Rob, 23, is a reserved, bookish sort of specimen, a guy who’d rather spend the night at the corner table in the pub with friends — a bit of a weirdo, frankly, in the best sense.

So how to write about someone who seems to answer Freud’s rhetorical question, What do women want? Perhaps it’s just worth pointing out that it’d be fun to have a beer with him even if he weren’t Edward Cullen. That we haven’t seen a tenth of what he can do onscreen. And that important things, beyond the veil of Hollywood, occupy his time too — music, conversation, ideas, a sense of the absurd. Which, maybe, explains why he never gets to my e-mails. I love you, Rob! Call me!

NEIL PATRICK HARRIS by Joss Whedon:
Neil loves magic tricks. He’s good at them, but his greatest trick may be himself: not just the way he was suddenly all over TV — and other media — but also that he made it seem like he’d always been there, a charming, Carsonesque presence. While he flourished as both an actor and a persona, he serenely announced he was gay. And that was that. He’s been nominated for an Emmy three times for his role as hetero hound Barney Stinson on How I Met Your Mother not because he’s playing straight but because he’s very funny. He made the issue of his sexuality disappear without desexualizing himself. He can get the girl and sing about the boys, and it all works. The public’s perception of gay men is shifting because of this guy, and they’ll be too entertained to notice. That’s more than a good trick. That’s magic.

ASHTON KUTCHER by P. Diddy:
I first met Ashton Kutcher when we were both on MTV. He was doing Punk’d, and I was doing Making the Band. For a while, with Jamie Foxx, we were a rat pack, hanging out, going to clubs. I remember one night he was with Demi, maybe for the first time, and a couple of weeks later he called to tell me he was in love. That was the end of our clubbing.

But we are still friends. Not that cliché of “Let’s make a movie, let’s do a deal.” He is a sounding board for me. Like me, he’s a mogul — a new-media mogul. But we are yin and yang: I am in your face, but he is understated, cool, suave.

Most of us want to make as much money as we can, but Ashton, 32, is out to make the world a better place. He is smart — smart enough to leave Punk’d when he could still be making money at it. He has to have a heart in what he does. What he and Demi do with Twitter is a good example. Most people use it to promote themselves, but he uses Twitter to connect, to strike up conversations, to send positive messages to the millions of people who read his words. This guy will show us the future. And it’s gonna be a blast.

[From Time Magazine]

You can read more excerpts here, just click on the name.

This list totally sucks. I don’t even have words. Any list that would include Ashton Kutcher as most influential anything… just don’t. Ugh.

Demi Moore is jealous of Ashton’s relationship with Kim Kardashian
Premiere Of Roadside Attractions & Echo Lake Entertainment's The Joneses

A few weeks ago, Demi Moore started an asinine fight with Kim Kardashian on Twitter. The whole thing allegedly started when Kim posted a photo of herself and two friends with the caption “Big Pimpin’ w @SerenajWilliams @LaLaVazquez @Kelly_Rowland Love u girls!” This sent Demi into a tizzy, bitching and moaning about Kim’s use of the word “pimpin’”. If Demi’s sanctimonious bullsh-t wasn’t enough, Kim reacted with enough grace to make her the winner of the little Twitter war, and Kim ended up writing “Good point! I agree! It was just a song not literal.” Ugh.

Premiere Of Roadside Attractions & Echo Lake Entertainment's The Joneses

Now the National Enquirer is reporting that there could be some additional backstory between this ridiculous Twitter Pimpin’ non-controversy. The Enquirer claims that Demi is totally jealous of Kim, because Kim and Ashton are friendly and flirt with each other and Ashton even talks about how much he likes Kim and Keeping Up With the Kardashians. Note to Ashton: Please don’t admit you watch the Kardashian show. Everyone watches it, but no one admits it. For good reason – it’s trashy as hell. Here’s more:

Demi Moore is seething with jealously over hubby Ashton Kutcher’s “crush” on cute, curvy and newly single Kim Kardashian!

That’s the real story behind the cyber war that’s been raging between the two femme fatales, the Enquirer has learned.

Ashton, 32, and Kim, 29, struck up a friendship last year after she approached him to produce TV projects together – and Ashton’s been gushing about how “beautiful and intelligent” Kim is ever since, said a source.

“Ashton is a huge fan of ‘Keeping up with the Kardashians.’ But Demi says she can’t even bear to watch…”

Despite being married for more than four years, Demi, 47 still grapples with insecurities over her and Ashton’s 15 year age difference, the source added.

“And Kim flirts like crazy with Ashton, which drives Demi nuts…”

“Demi saw an opportunity to publicly embarrass Kim, so she took it. It was her way of saying ‘back off,’” said the source…

Unfortunately, Demi’s plan to put Kim in her place backfired.

“Ashton ended up chastising Demi for starting the fight,” added the source.

[From The National Enquirer, print edition, April 19, 2010]

I actually believe this story because it makes a lot of sense. Demi’s Twitter attack on Kim kind of came out of nowhere, and I could see how Demi had been pissy about all things Kardashian for weeks or months until she found an opening to pick a fight with Kim. Now, do I believe that Ashton likes Kim or that they flirt? Probably not, in real life. But whatever minor relationship Kim and Ashton did have or do have was enough to piss off Demi.

I just now saw these photos of Kim from this week… uh, did she have some “work” done recently? She looks like a cat.

Demi Moore in Harper’s Bazaar: Ashton, aging, pumas & giraffes

demi5

I’ve been waiting days for this Harper’s Bazaar cover story to come online, and finally it has. I’m not sure why I was so geared up about it, other then I really wanted to see these now infamous shots of Demi with a giraffe. Oh, and I always love to hate a good Demi Moore delusion-filled interview. Some of the early gems of the piece are that Demi has just weaned herself off of an “eight Red Bulls-a-day” habit and is now drinking Vita Coco coconut water, which is the same Brazilian “youth water” company that Madonna invested in several months ago. So… basically, this interview is product placement. Here’s more:

demi2

Demi on how hot she’s not: “I don’t like drinking water, so this is great,” she says. Ask her the secret to her age-defying hotness (obviously not traditional hydration) and she replies, “Hotness? Well, if you want to look at how dorky I am.”

Does Demi consider herself a cougar? [She wears] two diamond Cartier Panthère rings. Panthères as in panthers, which some people call pumas. Demi likes pumas; she infinitely prefers them to cougars. “Cougar has become so distasteful,” she says, nose wrinkling. “I really hate that expression.” She said recently that when it comes to her relationship, she’d prefer to be called a puma. “It has a sweeter quality, more elegant. And then somebody said to me, ‘Pumas are only for people in their 30s.’ Somebody really offended me on Twitter by saying, ‘How is that better, switching from one predator to another?’ I wrote back, saying it’s important to keep your sense of humor.”

On using Twitter for good: Demi uses Twitter as a forum for her calls for awareness of sexual trafficking and slavery. The couple recently established the DNA Foundation, which has been working with the State Department. “It is something that we are committed to, particularly as it relates to underage girls,” she says. “We want to have some effects on legislation in the U.S.” She is practicing what she preaches: More than half of her posts are on the subject, directing followers where to get involved.

So, do the Kutchers have a stake in Twitter or what? “Do not. We should, but no, to be very clear, we have no side financial relationship whatsoever.” So basically — for now anyway — they just dig it. “I like to connect to people in the virtual world,” she explains, “exchanging thoughts and ideas, when in the physical world we might never have the opportunity to cross paths.”

She‘s still in denial about that re-touched W Magazine cover: “Okay, that is literally my shape,” Demi says, sticking her leg out for effect. What bothered her, she says, “wasn’t that people were saying it was retouched, it was that they were saying my hip was so badly botched because a hunk of it was taken out. I called the photographers, and they said, ‘We did not touch anything on your hip, your thigh, or your waist. It was the position.’ Actually, somebody sent me an image I retweeted on Twitter. It was this beautiful marble statue, and the body position was exactly the same as what I was doing. This person had outlined how the hip goes in and the leg goes out.” So silence thee, hip haters.

Demi is a size two, but hates how small models are: “Models, even male models — how small they’ve gotten! It looks great for the clothes, but it’s not what you want in real life. Why do we have to keep looking at ourselves and measuring?”

On fashion: Demi has long supported young American designers (she was one of the first to wear Proenza Schouler and is a big fan of rising star Prabal Gurung), as much as she loves her Lanvin. She has “two modes: baggy boyfriend jeans and a T-shirt with a little cardigan and ballet flats. And then I have the other part of my life that’s dress-up.” That translates into slinky cocktail numbers that are as glossy as her famous mane of hair. In this session, Demi wears an abstract print dress from the late Alexander McQueen. “McQueen was a genius,” she says. “I was always thrilled to wear his clothes because they were more than fashion; they were truly works of art.” She sees more in fashion than just clothes. “I met Roland Mouret the other night, and he said, ‘Fashion is a language without words.’ That’s why I love it.”

On meeting Ashton: When Demi met Kutcher at a play in New York in 2003, she was doing “dress-up” — to be specific, wearing a strappy blue Proenza Schouler cocktail dress. In short, she winks, it was “the dress that gets results.” Common lore has it that the pair were introduced by that erstwhile cupid, Sean “P. Diddy” Combs, but no. “It was another friend,” Demi says with a smile, stirring the vegetable concoction brought in by her smiling lady chef. “It was an effective evening. It was a life-changing evening.”

On Ashton in general: “I knew it had the potential to be something special right away,” she says. “It was like meeting somebody that I’ve just known where you just recognize one another. It was so disproportionate, the level of emotion we were experiencing to the time we had spent together. But when you don’t know someone, you can’t just jump and say ‘I love you.’” Nice to meet you, I love you! “Yeah. No. We used to end our calls or e-mails with ‘And everything we don’t say.’ It just seemed too much, too soon.”

On staying relevant: In her own way, Demi has been a face of every decade. She grabs the zeitgeist and runs with it, from ’80s Brat Packer to ’90s box-office empress to this new decade’s queen of celebrity cyberspace. “I have three kids, so I’m surrounded by teenagers,” she explains, “and I’m married to a younger man. But I think it’s generally being interested in where the world is going.”

On aging: “I feel better in my skin, 100 percent,” she says. “That’s the tradeoff. You have greater effects of gravity, but the better sense of yourself you have is something I wouldn’t trade. Women who lie about their age — why?” She’ll try a new skin cream (her latest, Stemulation, along with the Clarisonic Opal, a sonic skin-care machine), “but I’m not an extremist. I mean, I’m not risky with haircuts. Someone did just bring me the latest fad from Russia, though,” she laughs. “Horse shampoo and conditioner.”

[From Harper’s Bazaar]

Yeah, I still think Demi is a delusional bitch. But have you noticed something? Every year, Demi’s face gets tighter, yet she looks just a tad older. At some point, something’s got to give, and when it does, I hope to God Demi won’t still be playing around with these “Women who lie about their age — why? I’m not an extremist” non-denial denials. But, as angry as I get with Demi for all of the surgery and denials, I start to like her when she talks about Ashton. I have to admit, I buy that sh-t. I think they adore each other. And that’s really cool.

‘Valentine’s Day’ London premiere pics: Jessica Alba, Demi & Ashton

valentines_prem_4_wenn2737792

Since the LA premiere of Valentine’s Day had so much in the way of good and bad fashion, let’s take a look at the London premiere of the film. First of all, when I was looking at the photo grouping for the premiere, the above photo popped up first. Who are these girls? They’re a group somewhat famous in the UK called The Saturdays, and from the looks of it, I’d say they were like a more budget version of Pussycat Dolls? Does that sound right, English people? I have no idea, I’m just judging on them on their trashy fashion.

Now, on to the stars. Unfortunately, most of the “big” stars of Valentine’s Day didn’t make it London, so we don’t have to sit through another Jessica Biel overblown, over-dressed, over-done, trying too hard ball gown. Thank God. But we still get Demi Moore trying to pull focus away from her husband (who is actually in the film). Ashton looks like he’s freezing his balls off. And Demi looks like she no longer feels human temperatures. As for Demi’s dress… well, it’s not my taste, but she is working it well.

Jessica Alba has improved, sort of. I didn’t hate her look at the LA premiere, but I’m not in love with this one though. The boots ruin it for me. They’re insane.

Sigh… Emma Roberts. She’s a pretty little thing, and she looks a lot like her Aunt Julia. However, to me, she just doesn’t have that “spark” that most stars have. You know, that watchable quality, that special thing that many actors have where even if they’re not doing much, your eyes still follow them. Julia has it – but does her niece? Part of the problem might be that Emma looks like she borrowed something out of her grandma’s closet. Yes, she’s showing off her legs, but the top half of the dress is like “Nun-wear lite”.

I keep forgetting that Topher Grace is in this film. I’ve always really liked him, and I had high hopes that he would grow into a solid film actor. I’m kind of embarrassed for him that he’s in this film – I think he plays Anne Hathaway’s boyfriend or something. He’s so cute!

Ashton Kutcher: 90% of guys don’t walk the walk in relationships

ak2

Every time I start to hate Ashton Kutcher, he gives an interview where he sounds almost… dare I say it… cool. Like, he’s a good guy, and he loves his wife, and he thinks about people and the world and his life in a really interesting way. And then, you know, he does something douchey and I start to hate him again, rinse and repeat. Ashton’s new interview in Parade is one of those good times though – Ashton talks about how much he hates Valentine’s Day (the holiday, not his new movie) because “you should celebrate love 364 days out of the year.” He also said this awesome thing: “It’s not how much you love someone when you love them, but it’s how much you love them when you hate them.” Truth.

The terrible truth.
“I hate Valentine’s Day. I can’t stand it. I think that every day should be a day of romance. I think you should celebrate love 364 days out of the year. Then, on Valentine’s Day, you should get to tell whoever you hate that you cannot stand them. There would be one day of hating, and 364 days of love”

Remembering young love on the big day.
“I was in third grade and there was this girl who sat in front of me who had the prettiest super long hair. I was absolutely infatuated with her. On February 14th you had to hand out Valentines to everybody in the class. We had these little hearts with messages on them, and I would give the slightly more ambiguous ones, like ‘Hugs,’ to people that I wasn’t interested in and I gave this girl the heart that said, ‘Kiss me!’ I was trying to be a little provocative and get her attention. The tragedy was that she didn’t get the point and I never got kissed.”

But it’s still easier for guys.
“We don’t really have bad Valentine’s Days. The thing is, guys have pretty much zero expectations, and when you don’t have any expectations, you can’t really be disappointed. So I don’t think I’ve ever had like a bad Valentine’s Day.”

OK, maybe there was one.
“Demi and I decided that we were going to spend Valentine’s Day with Bruce and Emma. So it was me, Demi, Bruce and Emma, which is great because we’re all best friends and we all hang out. I got to be in charge of booking the restaurant. It was February 14th and we weren’t in Hollywood, where I have a little clout making reservations. So I’m like calling around, trying to pull any kind of juice that I can to get a table. But, I hate dropping my own name, so I’m like, ‘Yes, I’m calling from Mr. Kutcher’s office, he would like a reservation.’ And literally every place was booked and so we ended up sitting at the bar some place.”

How far he’ll go for love.
“I think the most romantic thing that I’ve done is travel a long way to another country for like an hour to see someone I loved and then turn around and go back because I had a commitment I couldn’t cancel. So it was literally not sleeping for two days, going through hell, just to see somebody for an hour.”

Learning how to treat a woman.
“My brother had a heart transplant when he was 13, and my parents were at the hospital a lot so I went and I stayed at a friend’s house. And his mother was this really wonderful, wonderful woman that sort of taught me a bunch of things like table manners and how to treat a woman — pulling out her chair, opening the door for her. So while my brother was in the hospital, I basically learned etiquette and how to use it when you’re dating a woman.”

The secret to a lasting relationship.
“I think one thing sort of defines it which is, it’s not how much you love someone when you love them, but it’s how much you love them when you hate them. It’s when you’re in that moment where you cannot stand what the person you’re with is doing, but you still love them. That’s when you need to show it — not just say it, but show it. You need to take some action. The biggest mistake that most of the women that I know make in relationships is listening to what the guys says. Guys talk the talk, but 90 percent of guys don’t walk the walk. When things get tough it’s not what you say, it’s about what you do.”

You want an example?
“There are certain other things like I can’t handle, but there are certain things that Demi doesn’t do well with. It’s like the gun is on my side of the bed. If somebody breaks into the house, it’s my job to get the gun loaded. She wouldn’t do it.”

[From Parade]

What’s with all of the gun-in-the-bedroom talk lately? It’s like there was a meeting in Hollywood where it was decided that every star needed a gun in their bedroom, and they needed to talk about guns in interviews. Is everyone in Hollywood afraid of being robbed?

Beyond that, I really liked what Ashton said about learning etiquette from a friend’s mom. Do you think that’s when his mother issues started? I’m not being judgy, and there are much, much worse “issues” to have than “falling in love with slightly older moms” (I call it “the MotherLover Syndrome”). But it had to start somewhere for Ashton, and I think that incident may have been the catalyst, right?
