Reese Witherspoon, Salma Hayek, Jennifer Garner and Sienna Miller at the Globes

Metallic and white dresses were the trend at last night’s Golden Globes. Reese Witherspoon is a standout in a formfitting canary dress with a subtle braided belt and ruby red shoes. She looks incredible.

Hayek and Garner were lovely in white, while Miller looks ridiculous in a metallic and white too-tight dress. I never quite understood her appeal.

Witherspoon, Hayek, Garner, and Miller were all presenters at the Globes, which was said to be rather boring and long overall. I taped it, but didn’t watch it yet. It’s six hours later here than EST so I have an excuse. What did you guys think?

Movie winners at the Golden Globes

Despite two nominations, Leonardo DiCaprio was bested in the best actor in a drama category by Forrest Wittaker for his performance as evil Ugandan dictator Idi Amin in The Last King of Scotland.

Babel won best drama at last night’s Golden Globes, while Dreamgirls was crowned in the best comedy or musical category.

Dreamgirls garnered the most awards, with supporting actor and actress awards going to Eddie Murphy and Jennifer Hudson.

Everyone’s favorite faux Kazakh, Sacha Baron Cohen, won best actor in a comedy for his portrayal of Borat in Cultural Learnings of America.

Here’s the full list of movie winners:

Picture, Drama: “Babel”

Actress, Drama: Helen Mirren, “The Queen”

Actor, Drama: Forest Whitaker, “The Last King of Scotland”

Picture, Musical or Comedy: “Dreamgirls”

Actress, Musical or Comedy: Meryl Streep, “The Devil Wears Prada”

Actor, Musical or Comedy: Sacha Baron Cohen, “Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan”

Supporting Actress: Jennifer Hudson, “Dreamgirls”

Supporting Actor: Eddie Murphy, “Dreamgirls”

Foreign Language: “Letters From Iwo Jima,” USA/Japan

Original Score: Alexandre Desplat, “The Painted Veil”

Original Song: “The Song of the Heart” from “Happy Feet”

Animated Film: “Cars”

I have to agree that “Cars” was the best animated film. I’ve seen it about ten times since my son loves it so much, and it hasn’t annoyed me yet.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie at the Golden Globes

America’s royal couple, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, made their first award ceremony appearance together at last night’s Golden Globe Awards. Pitt was nominated for best supporting actor for his role in Babel, but that Globe went to Eddie Murphy in Dreamgirls.

Pitt’s film Babel took home the Globe for best motion picture drama, beating out The Departed, Bobby, Little Children, and The Queen. I really hope The Departed gets the best picture Oscar, because that film was incredible.

Here are pictures of Brad and Angelina last night, courtesy of Simply Brad. Women’s Wear Daily reported yesterday that Angelina was not happy with her gown selections from St. John. Angelina is contractually obligated to wear clothing from St. John on the red carpet due to a lucrative deal as spokesperson for the clothing maker. You can see why she wasn’t pleased. It’s a pretty gown, but it’s just not stunning.

St. John’s customers are generally older and more conservative, making people question their choice of somewhat controversial Angelina to represent the line.

In some of these candids Angelina looks annoyed to me, but she seems to warm up and smile a bit in others. I really wish she would gain some weight as she’s setting an unhealthy standard for women by looking like a stick.

TV Winners at the Golden Globes

The big upset at last night’s 64th annual Golden Globe awards was Ugly Betty’s America Ferrerra winning in the best actress in a comedy category against four other women who had all been nominated before. The best actor in a drama was my husband’s favorite, Hugh Laurie of House. He beat out Micheal C. Hall in Dexter, Patrick Dempsey of Grey’s Anatomy, Bill Paxton in Big Love and Kiefer Sutherland of 24.

Here’s the full list of winners:

Halle Berry not looking pregnant at the People’s Choice Awards

Halle Berry managed to pull off a weird gold lame number at the People’s Choice Awards last night. It’s a dress that would never appeal to me on a hanger but it looks great on her. She sure doesn’t look pregnant to me, which everyone has been speculating recently due to the fact that she’s been seen out in loose tops. If I was a celebrity, I’d consider wearing t-shirts that said stuff like “I’m not pregnant,” and “My relationship is fine,” but then people would talk smack about how I was too concerned about my public image. So it seems like you can’t win and may as well ignore the gossip.

Berry accepted the award for Best Female Actress in an Action Movie.

Pictures removed due to ending subscription with photo agency.

Jennifer Aniston at the People’s Choice Awards

I have to admit that Jennifer Aniston looked great at the People’s Choice Awards last night, where she accepted an award for Best Female Star for her role in The Break Up. Aniston’s ex Vince Vaughn was also at the People Choice Awards and received the award for Best Male Star. Both Jen and Vince graciously thanked the other in their acceptance speeches, with Aniston quipping that she “enjoyed ‘The Break Up’” in an apparent reference to her split with Vaughn. Vaughn called Aniston a “dear friend, fantastic friend, who is so talented.”

Aniston and Robin Williams both made separate references to Britney Spears’ lack of panties for an entire week late last year. Aniston said “Man, I tell you, it’s a lucky thing we do wear underwear, huh?” while she looked down at some fans who were able to see up her dress by the edge of stage. Robin Williams talked about Halle Berry’s high cut dress and said “Thank God for having her wear that dress … Britney — underwear — remember that.” Berry took home the award for best female action star for X Men: The Last Stand.

Aniston looks like she gained some essential weight and I have to say she’s glowing and looking quite gorgeous. She doesn’t seem able to wear multi-colored outfits, but at least she stayed away from the black this time. I would venture that she’s hitting it with someone new. Wait to see - there will be news of Aniston’s new relationship. I’m not saying a woman needs a man to be happy by any means, just that Aniston has that new love glow about her.

Please don’t let Celebitchy or Agent Bedhead be last in the Weblog Awards

Agent Bedhead is my BFF blogging friend, and they nominated me for a Weblog Award. We’re a top ten finalist, but are now last in the poll - behind Agent Bedhead. We don’t want them to be last either though, so we’ll ask you to vote for one of us.

It’s a minor letdown to be last, but it’s an honor to be nominated since the site is kinda new considering that I started it back in February of this year. Celebitchy is also up against bloggers who are more prolific and popular.

If you could head over to The Weblog Awards and vote we would appreciate it. You can vote once a day from every computer you own. Yes, this is allowed in the rules and all. Vote for us, or if you like another blog better that’s cool too. We don’t expect to win, we just want some more vote love.

The polls are closing at noon on Friday EST.

Video of Jessica Simpson’s flubbed performance at the Kennedy Awards

Jessica Simpson’s flubbed performance at The Kennedy Center Honors for Dolly Parton on Sunday sounded worse the way it was described, but it still looks really uncomfortable to her. I’m Not Obsessed is reporting that she is said to have feared a waldrobe malfunction, and that may explain why her arm is right under her top and she’s staying in one place. She was said to have sung without projecting herself and to have rushed off after no one applauded for her, but you can clearly hear her and it seems like the audience claps afterwards. It’s hard to tell by the way the video was edited, though.

Shania Twain looks gorgeous and there’s also a clip of Reese Witherspoon’s speech about Dolly:

Video of Fergie performing drunk at the Billboard Awards

Fergie looks like a fool while trying to rap about herself and standing bow-legged in a tutu at last night’s Billboard awards. She forgot some of the words near the end of the song and is clearly intoxicated. Gwen Stefani’s music might be awful too but at least she puts on a good performance:

Did Prison Break star’s car crash lead Jessica to lose her sh*t on stage?

Janet Charlton has a very interesting story claiming that Jessica Simpson learned about Prison Break star Lane Garrison’s car accident, in which a 17 year-old boy was killed and two teenage girls were injured, right before she performed at the Kennedy Center Awards. Garrison grew up in the same town as Jessica, was like a brother to her and even stayed with Jessica’s father, Joe, when he was a teenager. The news of Garrison’s car crash so upset Jessica that she performed terribly that night, singing so low that the audience couldn’t hear her and running offstage in tears.

Charlton also has the inside scoop on just why a 26 year-old man would be hanging out with high school students. They asked him to go to a party with them to impress their friends:

NOW we know why Jessica Simpson was in TEARS at the Kennedy Center Honors. She had just found out about Lane Garrison’s tragic auto accident. (One teenage male passenger was killed and two girls were injured.) Lane was like a brother to her - they grew up in the same town and when he had problems at home, he went to live with Jessica’s dad Joe Simpson when he was a teenager. Simpson helped make Lane a star like he did his daughters. And Lane loved being famous. When he went to Ralph’s Saturday night to buy pita chips, two teen girls saw him and got VERY excited. They begged him to come to their high school party to impress their friends. Lane couldn’t resist the flattery. Just how much he had to drink before and during the party will be apparent when his blood test results come back. When Lane wanted to leave, the girls begged the boy who was killed to come along because they were a little afraid of Lane. The joy ride ended abruptly when his SUV crashed into a tree. Acquaintances of Lane are predicting that the blood test will show more than alcohol was in his system. Right now Lane’s in hiding and Jessica is still distraught.

This is a sad story all around, and a another tragic cautionary tale for driving drunk.

If it’s true that Jessica was upset at her friend’s tragedy and not simply intimidated and nervous at having to perform Dolly Parton’s number, why didn’t her publicist say so? It’s the lead story in Page Six today, and her publicist simply confirms that she was jittery at having to sing in front of her idol and had to re-shoot the performance.
