Bar Refaeli studied really hard to be a model, poses while covered in Dead Sea mud

barbritgq3

Supermodel Bar Refaeli appears on the cover of British GQ for its September issue, and (as usual) her body looks absolutely stunning in the photoshoot. While she will never be considered an intellectual genius, however, Bar certainly has a technique to her modelling. In a few excerpts from the accompanying interview, she gives away a secret of her success:

On Perfecting Her Poses: “I’ve learned how to do this. I study all of my pictures. Which turn of the hip is sexier, which toe to curl or leg to straighten. I know every bone.”

On Childhood Modelling Past: “One of my first memories was asking my mother every day when my next shoot was going to be. I’d skip school to do it; I loved nothing more than being in front of the camera. I didn’t want it to stop.”

On Being Back Home: “It’s so wonderful to be here back in my home town. I woke up in my own bed and tonight I’ll sleep on my own pillow. I love this city. I’m glad I can shine a different light [on Israel]. When some people think about Israel, they think that we’re hiding in shelters all day long, afraid that we are going to have rockets falling on us.”

[From GQ]

barbritgq1

Oh, Bar. While I won’t criticize her (untouchable) body or obvious prowess in front of the camera, she seems pretty vacuous, right? As in nothing is more important than getting her picture taken even if that means being a draft-dodger. Apparently, Bar even married (and then quickly divorced) one of her own relatives just to avoid her two years of compulsory service because “celebrities have other needs.” Never mind that fellow Israeli supermodel Etsi Ginzburg served her two years without complaint. Bar is also a customs dodger too, for what it’s worth.

Now, for more silly mindlessness from Bar, who has posted a few photos on her Twitter account of herself all slathered up in Dead Sea mud. Presumably, some people will get up in arms and describe this as “blackface,” but Kaiser points out that Bar’s probably just being dumb, not racist. I tend to agree, and even though Dead Sea mud is supposed to be great for the skin as a beauty treatment, I think Bar’s gotten a bit carried away here. Then again and with a body like that, she can afford to be less than serious about most things.

Are Leonardo DiCaprio & Bar Rafaeli back together?

wenn2451790

Back in June of this year (when these horrible photos are from), Leonardo DiCaprio and Israeli model Bar Rafaeli allegedly split. I say “allegedly” because they and their reps never really confirmed or denied anything, it just seemed like suddenly Leo was hooking up with whatever random bar girl caught his eye (perhaps even Lindsay Lohan) while Bar licked her wounds, then found a nice billionaire to ease the pain. It seemed like they were not only totally done, but that the split might have been less than amicable. But Page Six reported on Thursday that Leo and Bar might have buried the hatchet. If “buried the hatchet” means “had lots of sex in a Bahaman villa for about a week”.

Is Leonardo DiCaprio getting back with Bar Rafaeli? A source says the star recently took the Sports Illustrated swimsuit model to Baker’s Bay, a private resort in the Bahamas.

“They stayed in their own villa,” our spy says. “They were shacked up together all weekend.”

Rafaeli and DiCaprio split in June after three years, reportedly because of his fear of commitment. Since then, DiCaprio, who will next star in Martin Scorsese’s “Shutter Island,” has been linked to a bevy of models, while Rafaeli has been spotted partying with Israeli gambling tycoon Teddy Sagi and Brazilian playboy Ricardo Mansur.

Rafaeli was not at DiCaprio’s 35th birthday this month with Kate Hudson, Ryan Phillippe and Hayden Panettiere in West Hollywood. But, according to our source, Rafaeli was devastated after Lindsay Lohan was photographed leaving DiCaprio’s home at 4:30 a.m. DiCaprio’s rep declined to comment and Rafaeli’s rep didn’t get back to us.

[From Page Six]

Haha, Bar went back because she was all “hell no” about Lindsay Lohan. Can you even imagine that? You date a guy for a few years, he dumps you, and then proceeds to spend some quality party time with Lindsay Lohan. You’d be all “he needs to check himself before he wrecks himself” too. So is Bar taking one for the team (the team being anti-Lohan, I think)? Or is Leo just that good?

People: Leonardo Dicaprio & Bar Refaeli split, he’s already moved on

wenn584605

What are we going to do with Leonardo DiCaprio? He and Bar Refaeli have called it quits yet again, sources have confirmed to People. The reason for the latest split seems to be the same old reason – Leo doesn’t want to settle down. What is his problem? I really don’t think he’s some kind of hardcore womanizer, I actually think he’s probably pretty loyal to whatever girlfriend he has. Which would make him a serial monogamist. And a modelizer. Ah, the dreaded commitment-phobic serial modelizer. What a joke.

The two have been dating since 2005, but have had little break-ups here and there. Of course, there were also rumors of an engagement, and many thought Bar would be the one model able to tame the wild beast known as “The DiCaprio”. Alas, twas not to be:

On-again off-again couple Leonardo DiCaprio and Bar Refaeli have called it quits once more, sources confirm to PEOPLE.

“They’re taking time off for the time being, they’ve split,” says a source. “It could just end up as a break but for now they’re doing their own thing.”

That much was certainly apparent over the weekend as the Israeli-born Sports Illustrated swimsuit model, 23, walked the red carpet at Hollywood Life’s 11th Annual Young Hollywood Awards solo, refusing to speak about DiCaprio, while the Titanic star, 34, hit the hotspot Avenue in New York City, where he was seen chatting with another woman.

“He was standing at the bar in front of everyone talking to a girl the entire night – and it wasn’t Bar,” says one onlooker. “It was in no way behavior for a guy who has a serious girlfriend.”

According to a Refaeli source, the model’s desire to get serious may have caused the actor to have doubts about their relationship. “She wanted to move faster than he did, she wanted to move in together,” the source says, “so he broke it off.”

[From People]

I suspected there might be trouble between Leonardo and Bar back during the awards season, when Bar didn’t show up on Leo’s arm once. Instead, he seemed happy to go to all of the parties with his best girlfriend Kate Winslet, who is probably the closet thing Leo has to the love of his life (in my opinion). Also, way back when Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson first broke up, Lindsay and Leo met up at a club and Lindsay gave him some kind of cracked-out lap dance. My guess is that Leo and Bar have been “taking a break” for the better part of the year, and have only gotten around to announcing it now. Look out ladies! DiCaprio’s on the prowl. Anyone not over 5 feet ten inches and larger than a size zero need not apply.

Here’s Leo and Bar, who – at least according to the lack of photos of the two together – must never have actually dated. This picture is from June 2006. Images thanks to Pacific Coast News.

Bar Refaeli on SI Cover (pics); won’t vote in Israeli election

bar1
Drop-dead gorgeous Israeli model Bar Refaeli was just named Sports Illustrated’s swimsuit edition covergirl. To celebrate, she’ll be doing three days of non-stop press in New York and then she’ll fly in an airplane with her face plastered on the side to Las Vegas. The announcement was made on Dave Letterman’s show, and Refaeli did an interview with Time just after the announcement was made. She talks about the elections in Israel, her early modeling days (as a baby in a bib) and having braces. Here are some highlights:

How did they tell you that you were going to be on the cover?

They just invited me to the agency and told me I had an audition. My agent got me into his office and everyone was here, and a camera crew and posters of the cover. My first thought was just like, you know, why is this here? Why are you tricking me? I was speechless for a few long minutes. Which doesn’t happen often.

Who was the first person you told?

The first person I called was my mom, because she knew already. So I called to shout at her. She’d known for a few days. I’m like, “How can you do that?” She always tells me everything.

Is it true you’ve been modeling since you were eight months old?

Yes. Since I was 8 months old till I was 12, I did commercials and ads and cute little stuff for kids. Then I had braces on my teeth; they took them off when I was 16 and then I started modeling more seriously and doing more fashion.

What was your first job?

I don’t remember what the word is in English, but you know those things they put around babies’ necks when they eat? A bib? Those things. But the ad is still on, to this day. It’s really weird. They’re still using that 23 years later.

You’re Israeli. Are you voting in the elections?

I am in New York, so I can’t.

How do you think they’re going to go?

I actually don’t know who I would vote for. If I knew I was going to, I’d probably research more. I think I’d probably go for [Foreign Minister Tzipi] Livni, but I don’t know.

And you’re actually pictured on the side of the plane that you’re flying to Vegas in?

I’d heard that, but I don’t know, I don’t know yet. These Sports Illustrated people, they know how to hold a secret. Let’s wait and see.

Would you rather have the Sports Illustrated cover or be on the side of a plane?

Oh, Sports Illustrated. That’s something that is there forever, you know? It’s like a collector’s item. And the plane, they would take it off probably after a few days. But both are really cool.

So what are you doing next after this?

I’m shooting a show for MTV; we’re starting right after all the parties for Sports Illustrated. And then I have work, work, work, work. The show is called House of Style. They used to do it before and now they’re bringing it back. So it’s very exciting. The year hasn’t started yet and it’s already been the best I’ve ever had.

[from Time]

This girl is on top of the world right now. It doesn’t hurt that she’s also dating Leonardo DiCaprio, who has a soft spot for tall, leggy, foreign models, and is probably stocking up on the SI covers as we speak. From the interview, she also sounds like a sweet, personable girl. I am, however, a bit surprised at her lack of interest in the elections in Israel. This is not the first time she has made a political comment that has gotten her flak. In May 2008, she was quoted as saying that she didn’t regret not being drafted, and that the silliest thing she’d ever heard was the slogan, “it’s good to die for our country.” Whatever your political viewpoint, there are some very important things going on in the Middle East right now that will define what happens in the future. You’d think her publicist would have made sure she had a good answer when reporters ask her any questions about her home country – she has always been partially defined by her citizenship. It’s better for her to say something along the lines of “no comment” than sound apathetic.

Bar Refaeli might be new hostess of ‘House of Style’

spl76668_001
Israeli model Bar Refaeli has gotten two big gigs within days. The first job is as the exclusive model for Marks & Spencer’s Valentine’s Day lingerie line. The second job, not yet confirmed by someone major at MTV, is to take over as hostess of “House of Style“, that great MTV show about models, fashion and everything in between. “House of Style”, back in it’s hey-day, was hosted by Cindy Crawford, and had guest appearances by people like Naomi Campbell and Heidi Klum.

Israeli model Bar Refaeli has been unveiled as the ‘body’ for a range of Valentine’s Day undies in M&S new lingerie campaign.

Twenty-three-year-old Bar is reported to have a signed a deal worth six figures to promote the High Street chain’s underwear, which retails for between £11 and £22.

The blue-eyed beauty, who began modelling when she was only eight months old, will also appear in ads for the firm’s swimwear in the summer.

Famously tight-lipped about her private life, Bar has recently been travelling the world with her actor boyfriend Leonardo DiCaprio on the promotional trail for his new flick Revolutionary Road.

From Hello Magazine

The lingerie line is a little “meh” in my opinion, but I’m sure guys will love it. Back to “House of Style”. I wonder what “House of Style” would even be like after all of these years. The great thing about the old show was that every model was a famous “supermodel”, and everyone knew their names. Usually by the first name alone. Christy. Iman. Cindy. Naomi. Heidi. Who are the major models now, besides Leonardo DiCaprio’s ex-lovers and current lovers?

Leonardo DiCaprio’s model girlfriend Bar Refaeli has been tipped to front a revival of the U.S. TV series HOUSE OF STYLE. The popular show, which ran from 1989 to 2000, focused on fashion and design and was originally hosted by supermodel Cindy Crawford.

Now MTV is planning to bring the show back to the small screen – and producers hope to land the Titanic star’s lover or catwalk stunner Chanel Iman to take over presenting duties, according to New York gossip column PageSix.

Neither of the beauties has officially signed on to the project.

From contactmusic.com

The “House of Style” rumor could be just that, but I still think it’s a good idea to bring back the show. I’d even love to watch it if they brought back Cindy Crawford as hostess!

Is Leonardo DiCaprio finally single again?

Rumors are flying yet again that Leonardo DiCaprio and Bar Refaeli have split, but that’s not really new news. In Touch is reporting the two are over and haven’t been seen together since July 14 in LA, but New York magazine reports they have been seen together and alone around New York City. These two break up and make up more often than they change their socks.

Everything Leo does is tabloid fodder, and here is a round-up of Leo stories from the weeklies. The stories range from probably exaggerated to downright unbelievable, so take these with a grain of salt the size of an iceberg.

If Bar really is Leo’s ex-arm candy, maybe it’s because he’s been partying up a storm with college girls. The September 15 print edition of In Touch says Leo was spotted at Coco de Ville in LA on August 26, “partying with the hot USC sorority girls all night,” according to an onlooker. “He poured the cocktails, was flirting with them, and even paid for the entire bill….He enjoyed every minute of the attention.”

An insider says this wasn’t Leo’s first meeting with the coeds. They first met at The Bank at Bellagio in Las Vegas on August 15.

But being a horndog doesn’t mean Leo’s not a nice guy. National Enquirer’s gossip guru Mike Walker reports in the September 15 print edition that while walking down the street in Manhattan, Leo helped an inexperienced and lost cabbie. The taxi driver had pulled over to ask directions, but the man he asked was giving him bogus information. A witness says Leo overheard the conversation and told the prankster, “You’re giving this guy wrong directions!” and gave the grateful cabbie the correct info.

Leo also helped a woman who couldn’t afford gas for her SUV. While famously eco-friendly Leo was driving his hybrid with (apparently on at the time) girlfriend Bar Refaeli, he pulled into a gas station.

[Leo] noticed a woman with five kids in her SUV getting teary-eyed as she filled her tank and watched the meter climb past $100. ‘Oh my God, look at this, I can’t afford these gas prices anymore,’” she wailed.

[From National Enquirer, print edition, September 15, 2008]

Instead of lecturing the woman on driving a gas-guzzler, Leo told the gas station attendant to put the woman’s gas bill on his credit card. When the woman found out that he had paid for her, she chased after him to thank him, but didn’t recognize him. She said, “You know, you look so familiar to me, but I just can’t place your face.” Leo’s response? “Have a nice day.”

Note by Celebitchy: This “Leo pays for woman’s gas” story sounds way too close to a story that was making the rounds about a good samaritan who paid for a destitute woman’s gas and bought her kids McDonalds afterwards. Both of the stories Sammie is quoting about Leo’s good deeds come from Mike Walker’s column in the National Enquirer. As much as the Enquirer is accurate and has a lot of scoops, Walker seems to have unverifiable hero stories about celebrities just about every week.

Opening festival at Cannes, including Cate Blanchett & Natalie Portman

The stars were out for the opening festival at the Cannes film festival, and they sure were gorgeous. The first film to open the 12 day film festival on the Riveria is Blindness. The film by Brazilian director Fernando Meirelles is based on a 1955 novel in which an entire city goes blind after an epidemic. Julianne Moore plays one of the few people who is unaffected and retains her sight. She tries to hide it from the rest of the city as society breaks down from the effects of the change. Blindness also stars Mark Ruffalo, Danny Glover, and Gael García Bernal.

The 9 person jury at Cannes includes Natalie Portman and is headed by Sean Penn. Penn didn’t miss a chance to rip on US President George Bush while talking to the press at the event. It’s likely that he was asked directly about it, and he is quoted by Reuters as saying “When somebody operates without a brain and without a heart, they kill hundreds of thousands of people around the world.” I dislike Bush as much as the next person, but there are much better ways of phrasing that. It’s lame to personally attack someone in such a blunt way when you can state more compelling reasons for disliking the guy. Bush definitely has a heart and a brain, he just choses when to use them. When it involves money, they’re easily switched off and immune to suffering, death and general havok-wrecking. Reuters notes that Penn then smoked a cigarette “in defiance of French anti-smoking laws.” You would think he would be afraid of setting that ridiculous hair on fire.

Shown at the opening ceremony at Cannes are Cate Blanchett, Natalie Portman, Eva Longoria (who’s still looking pregnant to me), Rachida Brakni, Aishwarya Rai, Gillian Anderson, Sean Penn (the hair!), Julianne Moore, Gael García Bernal, Mischa Barton, Danny Glover, and Bar Rafaeli.

Leonardo DiCaprio shopping for fair trade engagement diamond

Leonardo DiCaprio was spotted out at dinner with a fair trade diamond dealer, and since we can assume he’s no longer doing research for a role he must be planning on getting engaged to his on-again girlfriend, Bar Refaeli, right?

Now that Leonardo DiCaprio’s romance with model Bar Refaeli, 22, is back on, he’s shopping for diamonds. Leo, 33, had dinner with a diamond dealer who specializes in fair-trade gems at Madeo restaurant in West Hollywood on January 17, according to a witness. “Ever since starring in Blood Diamond, Leo has become sort of an expert on the industry,” his pal explains.

[From In Touch, print edition, February 11, 2008]

DiCaprio is also considered an expert on environmental issues, and has been invited by the Green Party of Scotland to speak before their Parliament. They are anxiously awaiting a response.

DiCaprio was among the stars in the audience at the friendly Democratic debate between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton in Hollywood on Thursday. Other stars in attendance were Diane Keaton, Rob Reiner and Stevie Wonder.

I don’t see DiCaprio getting engaged at this point, especially considering how low-key he’s been in his relationship with Refaeli. We’ll have to wait it out and see what happens.

Leonardo DiCaprio is shown in the header image at Cannes on 5/19/07. Bar Refaeli is shown modeling lingerie on 10/18/07, thanks to PRPhotos.

Leonardo DiCaprio Will Now Be Taking Applications for New Arm Candy

Break ups and possible divorces are abound this month. Most of which can’t quite be confirmed. Those crafty celebs just love their air of mystery. Leonardo DiCaprio and Bar Refaeli are the latest to take a trip to spiltsville.

“LEONARDO DiCaprio is looking for a new model – he’s split with his post-Gisele Bundchen babe, Bar Refaeli. On Friday night at Sweet Paradise on Orchard Street, DiCaprio was with Josh Hartnett checking out the arm candy at the after-party for the new skateboarding film “Nothing But the Truth.” And, in an odd twist, Refaeli’s new squeeze is surfer Kelly Slater, who dated Bundchen after she and the “Titanic” star broke up.”

[Page Six]

Currently, Leo is said to be wooing Daya Fernandez. Daya is an actress hopeful who worked as an assistant to Tom Cruise during filming for “Vanilla Sky.” While he may be out kicking it with notorious horn-dog Josh Harnett, Bar is not sitting at home sobbing into her Ben and Jerry’s. She has been out partying and looking carefree without Leo by her side. Star Magazine reports that when her friends asked about Leo’s absence she replied with an airy, “Don’t worry about it.’ The two have been rumored to have broken up several times. Perhaps this is just another “break” for the two.

Picture note by Celebitchy: Leonardo DiCaprio is shown out with a crepe in Paris on 10/21/07. Thanks to Splash News.

Kelly Slater and Bar Rafaeli in scuffle with photographers in Israel

In case you were wondering if Leonardo DiCaprio and Israeli model Bar Rafaeli were still together after a rumored breakup and reconciliation, we may have our answer. Everyone’s favorite rebound eye candy, surfer Kelly Slater, got into a scuffle with photographers in Israel while out with Rafaeli. The scene sounds eerily similar to a fight in March between Leonardo DiCaprio’s bodyguards and Israeli paparazzi, who were trying to get photos of the famous couple at the West Wall.

Ironically, Slater was in Israel as part of the group “Surfing for Peace,” which promotes peace between Israelis and Palestinians through surfing:

Police detained eight-time world surfing champion Kelly Slater early Saturday after a scuffle with photographers who were trying to take pictures of him with an Israeli supermodel, police said.

Israeli photographers were waiting outside as the American surfer and model Bar Rafaeli left a hotel in the Tel Aviv suburb of Herzliya before dawn Saturday, police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said.

Slater pushed the cameramen in an effort to prevent them from taking pictures, a photographer at the scene told Channel Two TV.

“A brawl broke out and Slater was taken for questioning and later released,” Rosenfeld said.

It was not the first time foreign guests of Rafaeli have scuffled with journalists. Earlier this year, Rafaeli and her then-boyfriend, actor Leonardo DiCaprio, created a media storm when he visited her in Israel…

Slater, who is of Syrian descent, was visiting Israel for the first time as part of efforts by the group “Surfing for Peace” to promote reconciliation between Israelis and Palestinians through the sport.

[From Yahoo! Sports via ONTD]

35 year-old Kelly Slater has consoled many hot famous women after high-profile breakups with celebrities, including Pamela Anderson, Cameron Diaz, and DiCaprio’s other ex, Gisele Bundchen. Slater is “the most successful professional surfer in the the history of the sport,” according to Wikipedia. If anyone can bring peace to the Middle East while boning Leonardo DiCaprio’s model ex, it’s Slater. He’s not going to let a little scuffle with photographers keep him from his important mission.

Bar Rafaeli was widely quoted a couple of weeks ago saying she wasn’t about to serve in the Israeli army, as is compulsory for 18 year-old men and unmarried women in the country, and that she doesn’t regret it. She supposedly said “I am not sorry for not serving in the army, because I profited in a big way… Why is it good to die for one’s country? Isn’t it better to live in New York?”

Rafaeli denies making those statements and is suing Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth for reporting those quotes. Her lawyer says the paper slandered Rafaeli and encouraged a “public lynching” of her.

Kelly Slater is shown at the premiere of Surfs Up on 6/2/07 thanks to PRPhotos. Bar Rafaeli is shown on 10/17/07 on the catwalk for Selmark Lingerie Spring-Summer 2008, thanks to Splash News.
