Ben Affleck had a terrible headache

Ben Affleck had a migraine so bad he went to the emergency room yesterday:

Affleck was driven to the hospital by his concerned wife, Jennifer Garner, at around 2:30 p.m. He was released about two hours later. A spokesman for the actor-turned director said Affleck was “recuperating at home.”

“Ben Affleck was treated for a migraine at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge today,” said a statement from publicist Ken Sunshine. “He was released (yesterday) afternoon.”

According to an eyewitness, the couple left their rented Cambridge home just outside Harvard Square with Garner at the wheel of their Jeep and Affleck lying down in the back seat. They arrived at the hospital a few minutes later and Garner helped Affleck out of the car.

“He looked kind of sore,” said photographer Paul Adao, who saw the couple at the emergency room. “His wife ran around the car and helped him get out. He was a little shaky and she was asking, ‘Are you OK?’ that type of thing.”

Adao said Affleck appeared to be holding a towel or an icebag in his left hand.

About two hours later the couple emerged with Ben wearing a police cap and an emergency room bracelet on his wrist. A driver backed their Jeep up to the door and they quickly jumped in and made the short trip back to their home.

Two hours is a pretty short period of time to get in and out of the emergency room on a holiday no less, and he was undoubtedly given star treatment.

This isn’t Ben’s first terrible headache. He admitted suffering from post-spinal tap headaches after a spinal tap to check for meningitis in 2004. (I had a spinal tap a while ago, and was laid up for like a week with a headache.)

The article says that Affleck is probably stressed from working as a first-time big budget director on the film
“Gone, Baby, Gone,” starring his brother Casey Affleck and now filming in his hometown of Cambridge, MA. That could be true but he should insist on an MRI. I have a friend from college who had terrible migraines and was told it was stress. It turns out she had a brain tumor. Last I heard from her a couple years ago she was doing fine a few months after surgery. True story.

Violet Affleck and baby-to-be Damon will be best friends

Violet Affleck is nearly six months old, and she’s a little cutie. Matt Damon’s wife, Luciana, is expecting is baby girl in mid-June. Once Damon’s daughter is old enough, she can have playdates with little Violet Affleck!

Damon enthuses, “We’re due in mid-June, but who knows? We could be now.
“Yeah, they (my daughter and Violet) will have playdates. All we have to do is end up living in the same city!” The actor admits he is thrilled he is having a baby girl, because his step-daughter Alexia didn’t want a brother.
He says, “Believe me, if it was a boy it would have been a big problem. She wasn’t having it. She definitely wanted a sister.”

That’s so cute and those little girls are going to be adorable.

Here is the Affleck family out for breakfast in Cambridge. Look at how Jennifer Garner thanks the man who opens the door for her!

Ben Affleck as Star Trek’s Captain Kirk?

Star Trek fans are pretty pissed by the rumor that Ben Affleck, whose career hasn’t quite recovered from Gigli yet, may be in the running to play Captain Kirk in an upcoming Star Trek film directed by MI3′s JJ Abrams. The editorial we read about it said that it’s not such a bad idea.

Cinescape has an editorial today that has Star Trek fans in a tizzy: Ben Affleck may be in talks to be in J.J. Abrams’ new Star Trek movie.

Pay close attention to the caveat from “Southie”: “This isn’t gospel, this isn’t even confirmed….it’s merely speculation on our behalf, but some pretty SOLID speculation from some solid sources.”

And then he drops the bombshell:

…some others had heard that Ben has also been talking to Paramount about possibly playing a lead role in a new Star Trek film from J.J Abrams. Apparently Abrams is coming down to visit the set in a few weeks, to visit Michelle Monaghan, whom he directed in Mission : Impossible 3, so that might add some more fuel to the fire. If it comes off, he’s apparently playing the hero. Don’t know if that’s Captain Kirk or some other nameless male protagonist…but that’s the gist of it. So possible that Affleck’s going to go onto doing a new Jack Ryan, and possibly a “Trek”, after he finishes with this film.

It appears that most Star Trek fans are freaking out with the sentiment being summed up nicely by one commenter who wrote simply, “GOD HELP US ALL IF THIS COMES TO BE!”

I’m going to take the opposing point of view on this one, if Affleck is indeed going to play Captain Kirk. I think it’s a good choice. Listen, William Shatner ain’t De Niro, he’s a…let’s be kind…middle of the road actor who tends to overdo it on occasion. Affleck is a middle of the road actor who tends to overdo it on occasion. Seems like if they wanted to stay true to the franchise, trading in Shatner’s toupee for Affleck’s hair plugs would be a natural selection.

Affleck needs to get some kind of film role that isn’t complete crap if he’s going to get his career back on track. Two years ago he said he didn’t want to make any more action films, which is probably why he hasn’t made any decent films since. “Jersey Girl” was lukewarm glurge and “Surviving Christmas” was impossible to sit through. He doesn’t have the chops for serious drama, except when he’s typecast like in “Changing Lanes,” and he’s decent in comedy. He really shines in action movies, though, and he should embrace it and take the cash. He seems to enjoy spending it.

J.Lo gets skewered in new work of “fiction”

A new chick lit book whilch the author claims is based on celebrity in general, not Jennifer Lopez specifically, is so close to Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony’s story that it’s not fooling anyone. The author, Alisa Valdes-Rodriguez, has the arrogant J.Lo character cheat on Ben Affleck with Marc Anthony in a bid to boost her career:

“Make Him Look Good” is about a male Latin pop sensation, the international crossover star, Ricky Biscayne, who has rekindled his affair with Jill Sanchez. So what do we know about her?

She is engaged to “the boyishly handsome and patently non-Hispanic actor and screenwriter Jack Ingroff.” Formerly Sanchez dated “a mealy-mouthed” rapper named D-Kitty, until the night “some dudes in his crew” shot another rapper.

“The public seems to have forgotten all about how the gun was found stashed beneath her very own seat in the Escalade limo, or about how she’d worn a bandanna around her head like a gang member…”

Sanchez “in her own estimation, is the sexiest, cleanest woman alive.” She’s lifted her style of pairing innocence with lust, pretending to be “surprised by her own sexy gyrations,” from Britney Spears. Botox and belly lipo are her friends.

Sensitive Ingroff hopes that “some of Jill’s cruelty will rub off on him.” Sanchez has never learned the name of anyone who works for her. Her clothing line is the product of a team of designers who get no credit. In the recording studio, she’s vicious to the very producers who are digitally manufacturing her voice.

In fact, the only time Sanchez delivers an Oscar-worthy performance is when she’s pretending to be a professional singer “getting ready to lay down some kick-ass tracks.” As if.

Imperious, demanding and dismissive, Sanchez uses humiliation as a motivational tool on her staff. In meetings, no one is allowed to speak directly to her unless she first gives permission.

The lead character periodically puts her hands on her stomach during photocalls to drum up press speculation about her pregnancy status, and tries to train her husband to be more media-savvy and manipulative.

The author, Alisa Valdes-Rodriguez admits that “There are some anecdotes in there based on experiences that I or people I knew had with Jennifer Lopez.” No kidding. She also claims that members of J.Lo’s staff approached her and told her that the book was dead-on.

That sounds really juicy and it’s sure to be a best seller!

Here’s her royal highness herself at Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People party yesterday.

Violet Affleck rushed to hospital with breathing problems

Four month-old Violet Affleck, the baby daughter of Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner, was rushed to hospital when she had trouble breathing on April 8th. She is fine now, but the new family had quite a scare:

In Touch Weekly is reporting that on April 8 the 4-month-old adorable little girl had to be rushed to a medical building in Century City, Calif.

It seems Violet was having difficulty breathing, says an insider, who adds that the baby was also tested for asthma.

The weekly tabloid cites an eyewitness that said, “Ben and Jen looked so worried. As Ben carried Violet, Jen kept peering into the blanket to check on her…”

They got their little girl in for care and about an hour later, a much calmer family emerged, and they headed straight home with Violet.

That must be when the recent pictures of Violet were taken. It’s scary to have a baby with a medical problem, and we hope that Violet is completely recovered.

Jennifer Garner has admitted that she’s scared of filming the scene in Alias where her character gives birth:

The actress, who gave birth to baby Violet last December, fears her on-screen labor will be a huge
embarrassment.

She says, “I think it is going to be an incredibly embarrassing day. I have been dreading this moment as long as I have known it was coming. I can’t even imagine being in front of my crew. It is not even about the people watching it on TV. Imagine what this crew has seen me do over the last five years? I still get embarrassed any time I have to not have my clothes on around them, because those are my guys. They are all like brothers or father figures, so it will be a rough day for me.”

First peek at Violet Affleck

Here’s a cute picture of Violet Anne Affleck, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner’s four month-old daughter. Violet was born on December 1, 2005.

A cute blurry picture of the baby came out a couple of weeks ago, but you can’t see her face.

She looks adorable although this picture isn’t too flattering!

Affleck is making headlines for his comments on “Real Time with Bill Mahar” that Bush should be “hung” for treason for leaking the name of CIA operative Valerie Plame:

Bill Sammon, Washington Examiner: “A lot of critics are conflating the two and are saying that because Bush disclosed this piece of information, they’re implying that Bush leaked the name.”
Ben Affleck: “He probably also leaked the name. There’s just no proof of that.”

Sammon: “Even the prosecutor, even Fitzgerald is saying Bush didn’t leak the name. So let’s be clear, Bush didn’t leak Valerie Plame’s name — not that we know of.”

Affleck: “Because if he did, you can be hung for that! That’s treason!”

Bill Maher: “That is treason.”

Affleck: “You could be killed. That’s not a joking around Tom DeLay ‘I’ll do a year, I bribed the state officials with corporate money.’ That’s like they shoot you in the battlefield for doing that. Don’t you think we should find out who leaked that name?”

Affleck is right, that is treason and Bush should be tried for it, not to mention the fact that he deliberately led the country into war on completely false pretenses.

Here’s Violet Affleck. Linked pictures are about the same quality as shown in the header image above.

Ben Affleck’s New Ad

Ben Affleck appears in a mildly funny new ad airing in England for a spray deodorant called “Lynx.” In the commercial he carries around a little counter which he uses to count off every glance he gets from admirers around town. At the end of the commercial he’s bested by a scrawny-looking guy who uses the deodorant.

We hope Ben gets some film work soon. [via]

Less than 100 people had viewed this before we linked it, and there are no clicks from other sources, so you get to see it here first.

Matt Damon and Ben Affleck in South Beach

As a Matt Damon and Ben Affleck fan from the days of “Good Will Hunting,” my heart skipped a beat when I saw these pictures of the two together. They look great and and I can’t wait to see a new movie with the two of them! [via]

According to IMDB news from February 9, 2006, Matt and Ben will be working together soon:

Best friends Matt Damon and Ben Affleck will star onscreen together for the first time in seven years when they appear in a new real-life legal drama. The pair will play lawyers battling to overturn a murder conviction in the untitled movie

In January it was reported that the two were collaborating on a remake of “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid,” but it turned out to be just a rumor.

Ben and his wife, Jennifer Garner, have a three-month old daughter, Violet, while Matt and his wife, Luciana Barroso, are expecting a baby girl in June. Two more pictures after the jump.
