For the time, my father was pretty old when I was born. He was in his early 40s. So… he was never really one to talk, but he still loved putting in his two cents in about older men having babies. His take was usually along the lines of “No fool like an old fool” and “Just pay her for the company she gives you, you don’t have to marry her and start another family.” On that note, I am pleased to announce that Rod Stewart’s 66-year-old ass has just become a father for the eighth time. It’s a boy! Rod and his wife Penny Lancaster named him something nice and normal too: Aiden.

He and his wife, Penny Lancaster Stewart, welcomed their second son together, Aiden, on Wednesday. He weighed in at 7 lbs., 12 oz.

“Mother and baby are healthy and blissfully happy,” a rep for the couple tells PEOPLE.

The new arrival also came just in time for Lancaster’s birthday – she turns 40 in March.

Aiden is the eighth child for Stewart, 66, and the couple’s second together – their elder son, Alastair Wallace, is 5.

“We were thrilled and delighted to be able to tell Alastair that he was going to be a big brother,” the Stewarts said in August.

At this point, Michael K’s name for Christina Marinoni is so ubiquitous, I can only think of her as Rojo Caliente. Anyway, Cynthia Nixon and her partner, Rojo, have welcomed a son into their family. Apparently, Rojo got pregnant and she gave birth yesterday. Did anyone know that she was pregnant? I had no idea. They really kept that under wraps. Cynthia and Rojo named the boy Max Ellington… a nice little hipster name.

It’s a boy for Cynthia Nixon and Christine Marinoni!

Marinoni gave birth to the couple’s son, Max Ellington Nixon-Marinoni, on Monday, Feb. 7, Nixon’s rep confirms.

“Christine and baby are doing great,” her rep tells PEOPLE.

Nixon, 44, and Marinoni, 43, began dating in 2004 and announced their engagement in 2009. The Sex and the City star has two children, Samantha, 14, and Charles, 8, from her previous relationship with photographer Danny Mozes.

Congratulations to Cynthia and Rojo! Miranda was always my favorite – the most realistic of all of the Sex and the City characters. And Cynthia played her perfectly – although I think leaving her male partner and hooking up with Rojo (who was Cynthia’s jumpoff, if you remember) probably meant that Cynthia’s public image took a hit. I remember the promotional rounds for the two Sex and the City movies – Cynthia barely spoke, barely gave any interviews. It’s like if “mainstream America” realized that Cynthia was romantic with Rojo – to the point where they’re raising three kids together now – would kill the romance of SATC. Dumb! Cynthia is a really cool chick, and I’m betting that Rojo is pretty awesome too.

UPDATE: CB wanted me to point out that it’s not that Cynthia was “hiding” her relationship with Rojo – she wasn’t, and she did give a few interviews, including a major one to The Advocate, during the SATC 2 promotional rounds. My take was just that it seemed like Cynthia was kind of pushed aside and passed over in favor of the heterosexual SATC ladies, at least as far as media went.

Yay! Christina Applegate has given birth to a baby girl, and mother and child are both healthy. Christina and her fiancé Martyn LeNoble named their daughter Sadie Grace LeNoble… thoughts on the name? Thoughts on naming your baby after a Beatles song? Eh, there are worst things. And “Sadie” is much better than “Prudence” or “Eleanor Rigby”.

It’s a girl for Christina Applegate! The Going the Distance actress and her fiancé, rocker Martyn LeNoble, welcomed Sadie Grace LeNoble on Thurs. Jan. 27. Proud papa LeNoble posted the news on his Facebook page late Monday. He added that Sadie Grace weighed in at 7 lbs., 8 oz.

A first-time mom, Applegate, 39, confirmed her pregnancy in September. The Emmy-nominated star’s baby joy comes two years after she overcame a bout with breast cancer, following a double mastectomy.

Applegate has credited her baby’s dad, a founding member of 90s alternative rock band Porno for Pyros, with helping keep her spirits high during her cancer battle.

“I have a small but mighty support system and Martyn has really been an incredible part of my life,” Applegate previously told Us. “Without him, I don’t know if I could’ve gone through any of it. He came around at a time when there was a lot of loss in my life on many levels, so he’s been a really incredible help.”

The new mom — who got engaged to LeNoble on Valentine’s Day last year — tells Us she’d welcome the idea of having more kids.

When asked what’s on her bucket list, she told Us last year: “Babies, lots of babies. Not lots of babies, but a couple.”

According to multiple sources, Penelope Cruz has given birth! Apparently Penelope and Javier Bardem welcomed their hot Spanish baby on Tuesday, at Los Angeles’ Cedars Sinai. While Us Weekly won’t or can’t confirm the gender or the name, the NY Post is calling it: A BOY!

Hollywood duo Penelope Cruz and Oscar-nominated husband Javier Bardem are celebrating the birth of a baby boy, Spanish celebrity gossip magazine Hola! reported Wednesday.

The power couple’s first child was born at Los Angeles’ Cedars Sinai Hospital last Saturday. Cruz was surrounded by her family, including her mother Encarna and her sister and brother, Monica and Eduardo.

Neither family members nor the pair’s representatives have confirmed anything yet. “Have the parents said anything?,” asked the actor’s mother, Pilar Bardem, when questioned by a journalist from Spanish news agency Efe. “Well then, I cannot say anything.”

Bardem, 41, and Cruz, 36, were married in a low-key ceremony in the Bahamas in July last year.

In September the pair confirmed Cruz was expecting, after her baby bump was spotted on the set of “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.”

Bardem and Cruz met for the first time on the set of the 1992 Spanish drama comedy “Jamon, Jamon,” one of Cruz’s first acting roles. But they did not start dating until 2007.
Hola! quotes Bardem as indicating he and Cruz do not want to become the new Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. “We value our privacy [but] it’s difficult for us to appear in public, even thought we’re both used to getting a lot of attention in Spain … but we have a good life.”

Bardem won a Best Supporting Actor Oscar in 2007 for crime thriller “No Country for Old Men.” Earlier Tuesday, Bardem was a surprise inclusion in the Best Actor nominations for the upcoming Academy Awards for his role in the Spanish-language film “Biutiful.” Winners will be announced in Los Angeles on Feb. 27.

Wow, as everybody just announced in the links (LOL, sorry!), Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban announced this afternoon that they welcomed their second daughter. Via surrogate! Apparently the baby – a little girl named Faith Margaret- was born on December 28, and they’re just announcing it now, after they just spent the whole weekend doing a bunch of events together so Nicole could promote Rabbit Hole. Because…? I guess a newborn doesn’t need either of her parents…for a whole weekend…? No, I’m a bitch. I know that. You know that too. Since I’m going there, I guess I can also say that I look forward to many more interviews in which Nicole makes reference to her only TWO daughters, forgetting Isabella entirely.

It’s a girl – and a huge surprise!

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban revealed Monday that they are the parents of a baby girl.

Faith Margaret Kidman Urban arrived Dec. 28 at The Women’s Hospital at Centennial in Nashville. Faith was born through a gestational carrier and is the biological daughter of Kidman and Urban.

“Our family is truly blessed, and just so thankful, to have been given the gift of baby Faith Margaret,” the family says in a statement. “No words can adequately convey the incredible gratitude that we feel for everyone who was so supportive throughout this process, in particular our gestational carrier.”

Kidman and Urban, both 43, had kept the birth a secret, saying nothing about being new parents when they attended the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday night.

Married in 2006, Kidman gave birth to daughter Sunday Rose in July 2008. Kidman and her ex-husband Tom Cruise also adopted two children during their marriage, Isabella and Connor.

This is likely the reason that Nicole has been looking slightly off-kilter in her recent appearances – her mind is somewhere else, and she’s probably thinking about little Faith. That’s my mom’s name, by the way. Faith. I always think of it as such a Southern name, but I guess Aussies are embracing it too.

Bitchy side note: I’ve always thought that Sunday Rose was born via surrogate – perhaps Nicole’s sister Antonia – so it’s very interesting to me, conspiracy-wise, that Nicole and Keith are fine announcing that little Faith was born via surrogate, while we must believe that Sunday was the pillow-like lump that Nicole sported for a few months. I know, I know. I’m a C-U-Next-Tuesday. You don’t have to say it.

That was fast, wasn’t it? Less than a week after the announcement came that Owen Wilson’s girlfriend Jade Duell were expecting a baby, Jade gave birth to a baby boy. The whole thing went down in Hawaii, where it seems Jade has been ensconced within Owen’s Hawaiian property for some time. Some people are calling this whole thing a victory for privacy and for the non-famewhore celebrity. Sure. That’s one explanation. Another explanation is that the whole thing is sketchy. But I won’t get into all of that here and now – I’ll just congratulate the happy family!

Owen Wilson has a Little Focker of his own: He and his girlfriend, Jade Duell, have welcomed a son.

“Everyone is doing well,” his rep tells PEOPLE.

The baby was born in Hawaii.

Wilson and Duell have been dating for more than a year, according to Entertainment Weekly. News of Wilson’s impending fatherhood was just revealed on Jan. 10.

This is just an FYI, because our resident Orly-loonie (Sammie) isn’t around today – according to reports, Miranda Kerr has gone into labor in Los Angeles today. There is no word if she has already given birth or the sex of the baby or anything like that so far. A few weeks ago, Sammie mentioned something that is perhaps too political, but it is intriguing – neither Orly nor Miranda are American citizens, so it’s possible they wanted to give birth in America so their baby would be a citizen. An “anchor baby” if you use that term. Same thing with Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem, who will likely give birth to their child in LA. Anyway, I just that I’d mention it. Here’s what’s known:

ORLANDO BLOOM’s [sic] pregnant wife MIRANDA KERR has reportedly gone into labour in Los Angeles.

The Hollywood actor married the Australian model in a secret ceremony in California in July (10) and they subsequently confirmed they are expecting their first child.

Kerr began experiencing contractions the day after Christmas (26Dec10), but it proved to be a false alarm, according to Australian newspaper The Daily Telegraph.

But the publication reports Kerr went into labour for real on Friday (07Jan11). An unnamed family member says, “We did get a text on Boxing Day (26Dec10) saying she had gone into labour but it was false alarm but I can confirm she did go into labour early this morning. I have been trying to get in touch with (Kerr’s parents) but everyone’s phones are going to message bank.”

This story just made me so happy. Elton John, 62, and his partner of 17 years David Furnish, 48, welcomed a newborn son this Christmas through a surrogate. Little Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John weighed 7 pounds, 15 ounces, and was born on December 25 in California. Elton and David say they plan to protect the identity of their surrogate and will not reveal further information about her. Here’s the story from US Weekly:

Sir Elton John and David Furnish have become parents to son Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John, the couple tells UsMagazine.com exclusively.

The baby boy, who was born Dec. 25 in California via a surrogate, weighed 7 pounds, 15 ounces.

“We are overwhelmed with happiness and joy at this very special moment,” John and Furnish tell Us in a joint statement. “Zachary is healthy and doing really well, and we are very proud and happy parents.”

This is the first child for John, 62, and Furnish, 48. The couple married in 2005 after 12 years together.

A rep for the couple has stated that they intend to protect and respect the privacy of their surrogate, and will not be discussing any details relating to the surrogacy arrangements.

That’s so nice! I remember when these two were heartbroken that they weren’t eligible to adopt an HIV positive infant from the Ukraine that they bonded with while on a charity visit to his orphanage. That was just over a year ago, and David and Elton vowed to support the infant financially even though they couldn’t adopt the boy. (They didn’t meet the requirements that adoptive parents be married, since their union isn’t recognized under Ukranian adoption law, and no more than 45 years older than the child they’re adopting.)

Back in 2001, Elton spoke about how much he adored his godchildren, of which he has 10 including Brooklyn Beckham and Damian Hurley. He vowed to leave his fortune to them, and it looks like he’ll have another heir now. Congratulations to Elton and David on their new arrival! That’s got to be the most memorable Christmas.

Alanis Morissette gave birth to a literal Christmas baby! She delivered her healthy baby boy on Christmas Day, and she named him… Jesus? NO. She named him… Ever. Ever Imre Morissette-Treadway. The hyphenated last name is courtesy of Alanis’s husband, SoulEye, better known as Mario Treadway. As for “Ever” – God. I had a good wince, and then I flashed on something else – Milla Jovovich named her baby Ever too. Except Milla has a daughter. Is Ever a unisex name? Milla claimed that it was Scottish, which may be why Alanis chose it…? As far as “Imre” goes, I thought Alanis made it up, or that it was perhaps the name of a vampire in some young adult book, but it seems like it’s a real baby name. Shocking!

Alanis Morissette got a very special Christmas package: a new baby boy, PEOPLE has confirmed.

“Alanis Morissette and Mario ‘Souleye’ Treadway welcomed a baby boy, Ever Imre Morissette-Treadway, on Dec. 25th,” says a rep for the new mom. “All are healthy and happy.”

The prolific singer/songwriter, 36, announced her pregnancy in August. She and Treadway, 30, married on May 22 at their Los Angeles home.

Morissette admitted before the birth that the pregnancy had been a surprise, albeit a happy one.

She enjoyed one last send-off before motherhood commenced, and was seen beaming and showing off her bump at a baby shower in October.

Ali Larter has given birth to a bouncing baby boy! Both Ali and Christina Applegate announced their pregnancies on the same day over the summer, and my guess for both of them was that they were due in January – but Ali was further along than I thought! Us Weekly confirms that Ali and her husband Hayes MacArthur welcomed baby Theodore Hayes MacArthur on Monday:

Christmas arrived a bit early for Ali Larter! The Heroes actress and actor Hayes MacArthur welcomed a healthy boy early Monday morning in Los Angeles, her rep tells UsMagazine.com exclusively. Mom and child are now resting comfortably.

First-time parents Larter, 34, and Perfect Couples actor MacArthur, 33, have named their son Theodore Hayes MacArthur.

“He’s our perfect Christmas present,” the new mom and dad gush to Us.

After seven years of dating, Larter and MacArthur wed in Kennebunkport, Maine in August 2009. She was eager to start a family way back in 2007, telling Cosmopolitan: “I told my boyfriend after three weeks that I wanted to marry him and that we could do it tomorrow…I look forward to that time when I’m home with babies.”

Larter accidentally revealed her child’s gender in September while promoting Resident Evil: Afterlife 3D — referring to her baby-to-be as a “he” during a Fox News interview.

She added at the time: “I’m just super pregnant…Each moment I want to take off another piece of clothing.”

Christmas babies, yay! Actually, I always feel sorry for Christmas babies. Their birthdays get folded into the Christmas holiday, and I often feel like their birthday celebrations aren’t as singularly-focused as birthdays should be. In my extended family, there are many Christmas babies and it’s always a thing of “Should we send a separate birthday card and gift, or should we just package it in with the Christmas stuff?” It sucks. But there’s bad stuff with every birthday time – inevitably, my birthday was the start of the school year, so people didn’t remember it either.

Anyway, congratulations to the happy family! What do you think of the name? I think it reeks of old money and history, which is A-OK in my book. I wonder if Ali’s husband is some distant relation of President Hayes and/or General MacArthur?
