Blake Lively shows off her crazy body in a NYC photoshoot: amazing?

Here are some new glamour photos of Blake Lively strutting around New York City yesterday, fresh off of her appearance at the Met Gala on Monday night. At first I thought that this shoot was for some major fashion magazine – perhaps even Vogue, AGAIN – but it’s not. It’s for Lucky Magazine, according to the Mail. Although that could be wrong, because the photographer is Patrick Demarchelier, and I don’t know if Demarchelier would “slum” it and do an editorial for Lucky. Demarchelier does a lot of work with Harper’s Bazaar, so maybe that’s it. You can see more candid shots from Blake shoot here.

Can I just say? Her body looks amazing. God. I can’t even. I think she’s lost some weight over the past few months as a married lady, so maybe she’s not going to get pregnant right away, which is what I thought she would do. Just before she got married, some people claimed that she had put on a few “love pounds” and it might even be a shotgun wedding. Well, Blake heard about that and she decided to show us all.

Blake Lively in a tiered Gucci ball gown at the Met Gala: not punk but not bad?

Blake Lively got invited to the Met Gala this year. Surprised? Don’t be. Blake is one of Anna Wintour’s favorite young Fashion Girls, and designers clamor to dress Blake for whatever reason. Blake wore this Gucci gown, probably because she’s currently the face of a Gucci fragrance. While the dress isn’t punk AT ALL, I was surprised to discover that I didn’t hate it at all. In the thumbnails, I thought she might have been wearing Marchesa, so I’m glad she wasn’t and I think this Gucci is probably what Marchesa is trying to achieve with many of their ball gown looks. This dress fits Blake beautifully, it’s interesting and the only think I would change would be her slicked-back hair. This would have been a good awards show look, either for the Globes or the Oscars.

And here’s Blake’s casting nemesis, Rooney Mara. Hahaha, Rooney Mara wore Givenchy, just like Kim Kardashian, Beyonce and Madonna. Rooney must have been horrified!!! HOW GAUCHE. God, Givenchy had some of the absolute WORST looks on the red carpet, right? And I can’t believe they dressed both co-chairs (Beyonce and Rooney) so terribly. This dress looks like a goth wedding look made from a repurposed doily.

Is Ryan Reynolds ‘controlling’ Blake Lively’s career, wardrobe & workouts?

When Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds split up, I was not surprised. Even though I think ScarJo was partially to blame – she was too young to settle down, she wasn’t honest with Ryan about who she was and is – I always thought that Ryan must be a piece of work in private. He just seems… I don’t know… like he wants a very “traditional” marriage with 1950s gender roles. He wants to find a girl with big boobs who will make him dinner every night and cater to his every whim. That kind of “traditional”. And some people thought he found that with Blake Lively.

Since getting with Ryan, Blake has barely worked – she basically just finished out her Gossip Girl contract and that’s it. She’s been following him around as he films his projects, and she’s been decorating their homes and God knows, she’s probably going to get pregnant at some point. And all of that is fine, unless she’s just changing who she is to make Ryan happy, to cater to his every whim. Which is what Star Magazine claims:

Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively are starting to feel the consequences of their quickie wedding – because, according to sources, Ryan’s major control issues are starting to show!

After secretly tying the knot last September, Ryan has halted Blake’s work schedule, has taken control of her wardrobe and constantly forces her to work out with him.

“Ryan was very loving and sweet to Blake before they married,” says the pal. But not long after they said their vows, his demeanor started to change.”

Rayn’s behavior is even reminding his bride of the toxic relationship between Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes.

“She’s concerned,” continues the pal. “She can’t keep living like this.”

[From Star Magazine, print edition]

I know it’s Star and half of you have already tuned out because of that, but quite honestly, this story rings true to me. Maybe it’s all a big conspiracy and Ryan is secretly a really nice guy who is easy-going and pleasant to everyone he meets. Or it could be that he’s moody and controlling and he pitches a fit whenever Blake wants to, you know, work as an actress. Sigh… maybe a baby will “fix” things. That’s what Blake is probably thinking right now.

Blake Lively refuses to have Ryan Reynolds’ babies unless he stops watching TV

I really thought that we’d have a Blake Lively pregnancy announcement by now. Not that I believed Blake and Ryan Reynolds’ wedding was of the shotgun variety, but it’s been about six months since they got hitched – that’s long enough for Blake to get knocked up as a married lady! I really thought that was the way she was going to play it – a quick, head-over-heels courtship, immediately moving into together and bolting off to get married quietly less than a year after they first started up, followed by a swift pregnancy announcement. But I guess Blake is going to make us wait. And Star Magazine has an absurd reason for “why” she’s making us wait: apparently, Ryan is a TV addict. For real?

Newlywed Blake Lively is apparently already annoyed with husband Ryan Reynolds – because he can’t turn off the TV! Blake, 25, who tied the knot with Ryan, 36, in a secret ceremony last September, has had it with the time her man spends in front of the tube.

“He watches 50 hours a week,” an insider tells Star. “They are not going to have kids until he kicks his habit.”

And while Blake believes paying extended attention to the screen is bad for the mind, Ryan doesn’t see the big deal.

“It’s a serious issue for them,” says the source. “They got married so fast that they didn’t have time to find out stuff like this this.”

[From Star Magazine, print edition]

I actually sat here and tried to figure out how many hours of TV I watch in any given week. I watch less TV and more DVDs in the summer, when there aren’t that many new shows on. I’m not a reality show person (I gave up Project Runway a few years ago, and I loathe those singing shows), but I do have a very serious PBS problem. I am a PBS addict. I love Frontline, Antiques Roadshow, Nature, Masterpiece and American Experience. I also had a really bad MSNBC problem during the election (but it’s waned a bit this year). So… how many hours of TV am I watching? Does the news count? If the news counts, I’m watching about 20 hours (give or take 4 hours) of TV a week. Is that bad?

Anyway, not that I believe this particular story, but Gossip Cop has “denied” it by speaking to an unnamed “Lively insider”. That only makes me believe that something is there!! Seriously, though, Ryan seems like a world-class nester. I bet he prefers to sit at home and watch TV rather than… well, anything else. Maybe Blake should get him the Gossip Girl Box Set. Or maybe he was just really, really into college basketball? A lot of dudes get obsessed with it.

Blake Lively refuses to sign onto a ‘Gossip Girl’ movie, thinks it’s a ‘terrible idea’

I managed to go all this time without ever watching a full episode of Gossip Girl. I hear the first season was good, but the show went downhill steadily season after season. Something like that. Anyway, Blake finally finished filming Gossip Girl this year. To her credit (I guess), she fulfilled her contract with little fuss, and producers bent over backwards to accommodate her growing film career. It pains me to acknowledge that Blake was always the breakout star from Gossip Girl, not Leighton Meester. I love Leighton. I think she’s incredibly pretty and while she’s not some crazy-talented actress… neither is Blake, you know? If we’re setting up a competition between Leighton and Blake, Leighton > Blake.

Anyway, Gossip Girl is over and Blake is pretty much the only one who is totally happy about it. The rest of the cast would like to make a Gossip Girl movie. Only Blake refuses to sign on!

Blake Lively is infuriating her former Gossip Girl castmates by refusing to take part in a big-screen adaptation!

“She’s being pressured on all sides to sign on,” reports a spy close to the cast, “but she thinks it’s a terrible idea and is desperate to avoid the project.”

Blake’s ex-colleagues are begging her to reconsider.

“Blake feels terrible for them, because she knows some are desperate for work, but she says she’s doing them all a favor… she’s convinced a Gossip Girl flick would flop even worse than her other movies, Green Lantern and Savages. She’s sticking to her guns on this one.”

[From Star Magazine, print edition]

It reminds me of all of those stories about Jennifer Aniston refusing to do Friends reunion projects or alleged Friends movies because Aniston thought that it was beneath her standing as a movie star. By the way, I do believe most of those Aniston stories were BS, and this might be too. You can yell at Blake for a lot of things (not opening her mouth to speak, being a crappy actress, etc), but she’s always seemed like a total professional. This kind of story hurts her image. If she is refusing to do anything Gossip Girl-related, it might not be because she thinks it’s “beneath” her. It might be because she’s just doing this “honeymoon” thing with Ryan Reynolds and she doesn’t want to work right now. From what I keep reading, she’s doing some hardcore nesting, and it wouldn’t surprise me at all if she had a pregnancy announcement sometime soon.

Blake Lively versus Emma Stone: who looked cuter at ‘The Croods’ premiere?

Here are some photos from last night’s New York premiere of The Croods, which is an animated film with voice acting from Emma Stone, Nicolas Cage and Ryan Reynolds. Surprisingly, Ryan Reynolds brought his wife Blake Lively to the premiere. Not surprisingly, they didn’t walk the red carpet together, but Ryan did pose with Emma and with a woman I’m pretty sure is Blake’s sister. Odd. Instead of making this all about Ryan (he’s super-boring), let’s talk about fashion!

Emma wore this black and white Lanvin which… puzzles me. The fabric choices puzzle me. The design puzzles me. This choice for a red carpet to support an animated film puzzles me. Something nice: she doesn’t have her bits and pieces hanging out, which is good. She opted for something “cutesy” yet high-fashion, which is appropriate for the occasion. The problem is that this dress is an utter design disaster. It looks like something Katie Holmes would design. And that’s not a compliment.

Speaking of bits and pieces hanging out, Blake wore Marios Schwab. I mean… yes, this is conservative for Blake. And while it’s a mini and her legs are SO CRAZY, it’s not like her ass is hanging out, so I guess that’s a good thing. It still feels kind of upstagey and “check out my killer legs and my insane PVC boobs!!!” Seriously, what kind of odd PVC cutout is that? Weird. Also weird: those strange gold rivets or buttons or studs along the side? What the hell? Did Duchess Kate design this?

So, which look do you prefer? I’m going with neither.

Blake Lively: ‘I would love it I could wear little cut off gloves everyday’

I do not consider Blake Lively to be any kind of style icon. First of all, “icon” gets thrown around too much, and I’m very much “pro” a more conservative parceling out of “icon” status. Like, Nicole Kidman is a style icon. Cate Blanchett is a style icon. Get it? They have decades of iconic red carpet moments to choose from. While I always enjoy seeing Blake on the red carpet, mostly it’s because she gets it wrong. She has a pretty face (imo) and a great body, but all too often she fugs it up in Marchesa or some oddly-proportioned minidress. All of this would be just fine, but the fashion-media always talks about Blake like she’s the second coming of Grace Kelly or something, so there is a problem with the expectations and the reality.

Where was I going with this? Oh, yeah. Since getting married, Blake has definitely been more low-key – she’s only made a few public statements since her wedding, and she’s barely been on any red carpets. I miss her! But Blake has a new interview in Us Weekly, and she’s talking about whose style SHE admires: Rosie Huntington-Whiteley!

She’s become a bonafide fashion icon in her own right thanks to six seasons as the label-loving Serena van der Woodsen on Gossip Girl, so Blake Lively knows impeccable A-list style when she sees it. First on Lively’s list of celebrity style crushes: None other than catwalk queen Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

“She’s just perfect looking — always!” Lively, 25, raves to Us Weekly of Jason Statham’s Victoria’s Secret model girlfriend, 25. “She looks so regal and elegant all the time and I love that. I love that’s she’s a young woman who dresses of times past and isn’t afraid to dress up. It’s really special to be able to celebrate style like that.”

In terms of her own fashion choices, Lively — a fan of designers like Louboutin and Marchesa — says she draws inspiration from centuries ago and the styles worn by the likes of Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly.

“I love the sophistication and every single detail,” explains the star. “I would love it I could wear little cut off gloves everyday. Go to the grocery store in a beautiful hat with lace draping over your eye. That would make me so happy.”

Never afraid to push boundaries with her own look, Lively indulged her passion for fashion in September 2012 when she walked down the aisle to marry Ryan Reynolds in a wedding gown she co-designed with Marchesa’s Georgina Chapman. “I’ve worked with her so many times and know her so well,” Chapman told Us at the time of Lively, who had lots of input on her custom-designed beaded gown that featured a silk tulle bodice and rose-gold embroidery.

The actress, Chapman raves, “has a very clean sense of fashion . . .such an innate style.”

[From Us Weekly]

I like the way Rosie dresses most of the time too! But I think Rosie benefits greatly from her Burberry contract – Burberry is one of the best brands to be associated with, and whenever Rosie looks particularly good on a red carpet or on the street, you can bet that she’s wearing Burberry.

As for this mess: “I would love it I could wear little cut off gloves everyday. Go to the grocery store in a beautiful hat with lace draping over your eye. That would make me so happy.” I rolled my eyes. Did you? I mean, who is she kidding? And even if she did wear cut-off gloves and a lace-draped hat, she would look like Desperately Seeking Susan-era Madonna rather than a Chanel model.

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds visit hospital, hold adorable babies: super cute?

These are some supercute photos of Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds visiting children and patients over the weekend at a hospital in Ryan’s native Canada, Health Sciences North in Sudbury, Ontario. Ryan was in town filming Queen of The Night, with Rosario Dawson. I don’t know the source of these images and it took me a long time to find them on a Facebook fan page for Blake (they’re also watermarked on The Daily Mail) but that doesn’t seem to be where they originated. (I had to use a reverse Google Image search. I credit “Catfish” for teaching me that trick, that show is fascinating.) It’s possible someone tweeted these photos, but I couldn’t locate them on the official Facebook or Twitter for the hospital.

Anyway Blake and Ryan have come out of hiding and they’ve done a nice thing! They visited this hospital and requested that there be no press or fanfare. Of course people took photos and posted them online, and Blake and Ryan happily posed for them. Geez this is giving me a warm and fuzzy feeling. Maybe it’s just Ryan’s hot beard though, damn he wears it well. Here’s more, thanks to Northern Life:

Sudbury resident Sarah Lavallee said she was nervous about meeting Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively at Health Sciences North.

Reynolds, who is married to Lively, paid a visit to Health Sciences North’s pediatric unit this past weekend. Reynolds is in town filming Atom Egoyan’s Queen of The Night.

“Ryan and Blake were both very kind to us. They introduced themselves right away and asked how my son was doing. He is only three months old, and wasn’t really able to appreciate the visit like the older children, but it’s something I can tell him about when he is older.”

She said Reynolds and Lively chatted with them and asked Lavallee how she was doing being in the hospital 24 hours a day and when her little boy might be able to go home.

“Even though he had no idea who they were, my son did give them one big smile,” she said. “It was nice to see since he wasn’t smiling a lot at that point, and I really appreciated both Ryan and Blake giving me something to smile about at such a difficult time. It was a very unexpected visit, and I thought it was especially nice of them to take pictures of me with each of them before they left.

“I can tell you the visit was really appreciated by the kids, their parents, and the staff on the unit,” hospital spokesperson Dan Lessard said in an email.

“Mr. Reynolds and Ms. Lively were wonderful with the children.”

Lessard said Reynolds’ publicity team “had requested that it be a private, low-key affair with no photos or media coverage,” so the hospital honoured their request.

[From Northern Life]

That was a nice thing for them to do! I’m thinking it was Blake’s idea, and she planned it knowing that they would get accolades for it and that Ryan would hold babies and look all fatherly. It doesn’t matter, it was still a very nice awareness-raising visit. So this begs the question, and you know people are asking it: when are Blake and Ryan going to have their own babies? You know she wants us to talk about it, she’s clever like that. Also, I now believe her after she went on in that recent interview about how she leaves her hair wet and puts it in a bun to get soft waves, and that she barely wears any makeup. She looks gorgeous, I’m just saying.

Also, note that Blake and Ryan posed for a ton of photos but they didn’t once pose together. (That top photo is just two separate pics side by side.) I wonder why that was.

Blake Lively’s beauty tips: put your damp hair in a tight bun to make pretty waves

Blake Lively is the celebrity spokesperson for Gucci Premiere perfume. You may have seen her commercial in which she struts around in gorgeous dresses while applying perfume like she’s trying out a new vibrator. As part of her promotional duties she did a long video interview with fashion and beauty blog, Refinery 29. (You can watch the video there. I tried to embed it, but it’s auto-play.) Blake really knows how to give interesting beauty tips. I’m not sure they’d work for everyone, but Blake wants us to know that her style is “effortless” and will work for you, too. I’m sure she had a full blowout and a professional makeup application before she said this.

On her sense of style
You look at Katherine Hepburn and her pant suits or you look at Grace Kelly and her incredibly feminine gowns that look like a princess – very fittingly. I look to women like that because I always look for style and not trends.

There are two very different things. One can be iconic in any time period. I always want to wear things that my kids can look back on and say ‘mom, you look amazing.’ Not like ‘I can’t believe you wore that.’

On the paparazzi trying to get a money shot
It’s never comfortable when there are a million people with cameras that are screaming your name. A lot of them really want to get that embarrassing photo. You’re getting out of your SUV and there’s a guy on the ground trying to shoot up your dress and then it’s your fault later…

Leading up to it is never really stressful. You make it a fun process like going to a costume party.

On caring for her nieces and nephews before a premiere
The last premiere I went to I had my nieces and nephews I was babysitting them, they were at my hotel at the pool all day… I was getting dressed, I had my dress, my sister hadn’t shown up yet. She was late, so I was like ‘ok you guys you’re coming to the premiere…’ so I’m holding the babies I have them in the car with me, I walk the red carpet. I get back in the car and continue to watch them until my sister shows up and then I can continue with my night.

On her hair
I’m actually a pretty shy person by nature so it’s very much a safety net for me. I love to have my hair down and I love to have it full. I always like it to look really relaxed. [Structured hair] just makes me feel stiff and uncomfortable. If I have my hair down, there’s something romantic about it. I feel like it looks lived it… it has a story.

Her haircare tips
When I wash and dry my hair I have naturally wavy hair so I’ll dry it where it’s still a little bit wet and then I’ll put it just in a ballerina bun and then when I take it out it has a really nice natural deep wave… If you have any sort of natural bend in your hair, if you let it dry in that bun… make sure the bun is really tight then it will come out with really pretty waves.

Her beauty tips: improvise
It’s always about ‘are there any accidents that are going to happen… let’s use eyelash glue’ [to glue down a dress so it doesn't ride up]

My mom is very clever that way… always thinking of odd things in a pinch. My mom used Advil as blush once… she didn’t have blush, so she licked the Advil and took the pink off of it.

On fragrance
Fragrance for me is actually one of the most important things that I live by daily, as well as on the red carpet. I like a more natural, effortless look so I often don’t wear much makeup in my life if any, so fragrance is something that really defines you and it tells your story. It brings back so many emotions and so many memories. When you smell the smell of someone you love… the flood of emotions, the power that has is incredible.

Fragrance is something that can be your signature for life.

[Transcribed from video on Refinery 29]

I have long naturally wavy hair around Blake’s length and I doubt my hair would look cute if I put it up damp in a bun like that, but you know that I’m going to try it. I’ll probably be blowing it out again and then curling it to fix it afterwards. I don’t like my hair to look messy.

Blake also went on about how Gucci Premiere was “the perfect fragrance” because they were able to blend feminine floral notes with masculine wood notes and hints of citrus or something. This women is possibly the perfect spokesperson. She’s enjoying the hell of out that fat contract with Gucci.

I have to call bullsh*t on her “I’m actually a pretty shy person” comment. Blake is not shy. The interviewer was noticeably shy and reserved and it took her a while to warm up. Blake is always ready with an animated story about how she wrangles babies while attending move premieres and uses clever tricks to get her incredible hair and dewy skin. Blake’s brand of “shy” is anything but. She gives a great interview. She really knows how to make it all look “effortless.” Also, I got the sense that she’s looking forward to having kids soon.

Blake Lively is totally over Ryan Reynolds’ “let’s go camping!” thing

According to Star Magazine, Blake Lively is totally “over” this whole outdoorsy thing. I don’t mean to gloat, but hahaha, I told you so. I told you so originally with Scarlett Johansson too, but no one listened to me. Ryan Reynolds has a strange power over women – first of all, he attracts glamorous young women and I guess the Ryan Dong is so amazing that these women fall into the trap of pretending that they’re perfectly matched with him. Like, ScarJo pretended that she liked to hike and be outdoors and that of course she didn’t want to stay in the city and go to a party and wear a fancy dress. The same thing is happening with Blake, mark my words!

Ryan Reynolds, 36, has a real-life insistence on green, outdoorsy vacations and it has his wife, Blake Lively, 25, seeing red.

“He’s taken her camping on both of the short breaks they’ve managed to get in since their marriage in September, and Blake’s starting to worry they’ll never go on a fancy vacation again,” a close friend tells Star.

According to the source, Ryan is in danger of repeating a past mistake: his camping obsession is one of the reasons he and Scarlett Johansson never worked out!

[From Star Magazine, print edition]

I don’t know who to be angrier with – Blake for pretending she was into all of Ryan’s outdoorsy stuff or Ryan for pretending that he didn’t realize he was marrying yet another “city girl” who loved the finer things in life. Granted, I think Blake is more suited to Ryan, and maybe their happy-medium between “camping” and “living in Manhattan” is their country home. But there are still more compromises to be made if this marriage is going to work out. And I’m erring on the side of Team Lively, probably because I loathe camping. I’m not a full-on city girl, but I don’t think it’s “cute” or “enchanting” to sleep in the wilderness. Give me a bed, for the love of God.
