Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton may be on the verge of a split

Our last coverage on Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert was a front-page, publicist-approved US Weekly article with a lot of quotes suggesting severe cracks in their less then two year marriage. Miranda admitted, on the record, that she snoops into Blake’s phone and reads his Twitter direct messages, adding “it just takes the question out of the marriage.” Other, unnamed sources told US that Miranda knew that Blake was “flirty” with other women but that she believed his assurances that he hasn’t cheated and that she’s standing by him. (Remember that Miranda half-admitted that she hooked up with Blake when he was married to his first wife, so she has reason to worry.)

Well that might not be for long, because Miranda and Blake are either about to split or they have already, depending on which tabloid you believe. Radar has the details for us:

“Despite being married, Miranda and Blake are like two ships passing in the night,” a source told the National Enquirer, who is reporting it’s splitsville for the once happy couple.

“Between their touring schedules and public appearances, they’re actually together only about 50 days a year. That’s no way to run a marriage — and suspicions and jealousies creep up between them.”

Speaking of jealousy, Star magazine is reporting that Miranda is green with envy over Blake’s decision to bring Sheryl Crow onto The Voice as his guest mentor.

“Miranda lit into Blake. She bawled and screamed that he’s heartless, and he yelled back that she needs to chill out and trust him,” a pal told the magazine.

“Sheryl’s been texting and calling Blake during off-hours, and Miranda is extremely annoyed.”

But as RadarOnline.com exclusively reported last week, it was Miranda who turned down the guest mentor gig on her hubby’s talent show!

“Blake originally wanted Miranda to be his celebrity mentor this season, and of course the producers of The Voice were all for it,” an insider revealed to Radar.

“While she had to turn it down because there would have been conflicts with her touring schedule, it still became the cause of a few major arguments between them.”

According to the Enquirer, the two have a difference of opinion of where they’d like to spend their time — Blake in LA and Miranda in Oklahoma — and the good looking 36-year-old being constantly surrounded by young beautiful singers isn’t helping matters.

[From Radar Online]

They don’t trust each other, they want to live in different cities, and they haven’t spent much time together. They’ve only been married two years and they don’t have any kids yet, so there’s that. I don’t see how they’re going to last, but at least they can fly to see each other whenever they have a moment free. Miranda should visit Blake unannounced sometimes so she can check up on him.

Miranda Lambert snoops Blake Shelton’s phone & Twitter: normal or uh-oh?

Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton cover this week’s US Weekly. It reads like a PR piece in which Miranda admits that she knows people are saying her husband cheats, but she’s pretty sure there’s nothing going on and it’s just rumors. Miranda supposedly knows Blake is faithful, even though she’s apart from her husband most of the time, because she snoops in his twitter account and phone whenever they’re together. The article also includes quotes from Miranda about how tough marriage is and how she’s surprised they even lasted a year. Miranda and Blake are coming up on their two year anniversary.

She knows it looks bad and she monitors his data
“She knows he comes off as flirty,” says one source of the country darling, who has copped to reading her husband’s text and direct Twitter messages. “She questions him at times and asks about certain girls. The rumors are hard for her to hear.”

Blake swears he didn’t cheat with young singer Cady Groves
“Blake swears up and down that nothing happened,” says a Shelton insider – another source says the ugly rumors have taken a toll.

And at the very least, stir up some memories. Lambert herself has confessed to falling for him at first sight in 2005 – even though she was reportedly in a relationship at the time and he was still wed to Kaynette Williams.

She’s monitoring him on set
“Miranda is definitely aware of how Blake can act,” says a Voice insider. “That’s why she’ll hang out on set to keep an eye on him.” Echoes another insider, “She trusts him, but she knows how flirty she appears.”

They won’t be together this summer
Even sharing a time zone this summer will amount to a serious challenge. “Their schedule is truly the harderst part,” says a Lambert source of the couple, who share a spacious rental in the Hollywood Hills, a Nashville pad and a farm in Tishomingo, Oklahoma. “Miranda always has to go to L.A., or they’ll meet in Oklahoma. It’s a lot of flying.”

Miranda told US in January that she snoops
“Either one of us can always look at each other’s phone, and we know each other’s passcode. I don’t have to snoop anymore. It just takes the question out of the marriage. I like to check his direct messages [On Twitter]”

[From US Weekly, print edition, April 29, 2013]

Is this acceptable in a marriage to reach a point where you don’t trust the person and are digging through their data whenever you can? Or is that just being open? If a cheating spouse knows their partner is snooping through their stuff they’re going to get better at hiding it. If one party thinks the other one is cheating, is a non-incriminating data trail going to reassure them?

Miranda has half-admitted that she got with Blake back when he was married. She said in an interview a couple of years ago that she was instantly attracted to Blake when she met him, that she “knew better,” and “I knew he was married.” It sounded like she was trying to own up to an affair without stating it outright. So now she’s fighting for her own marriage after a scant couple years. She seems to think it’s worth fighting for at this point, but it also reads like she didn’t know what she was getting into. She should have, she’s said that her parents are private investigators and “I’ve seen this my whole life – affairs.” I’m sure she’s seen affairs happening in second marriages too, when the husband decides he wants to trade in his second wife/former mistress.

Christina Aguilera ditched the bright orange spray tan and clown makeup: cute?

These are some new photos of Christina Aguilera at a screening of Season 4 of “The Voice” last night. It premieres on March 25, and since it’s a hit for NBC they’re really cramming them back to back. The last season just ended in December, but somehow it feels sooner than that. That must be due to all the promotion I’ve been seeing for this season. Aguilera was a judge for the first three seasons, but both she and fellow judge Cee Lo Green have left, they’ve been replaced by Usher and Shakira. (Whenever I think of her I get “Hips Don’t Lie” stuck in my head. Probably because it’s in one of the spin videos I do.) Adam Levine and Blake Shelton are still on the judging panel for their fourth season.

It’s unknown why Aguilera is no longer on The Voice, but she did regularly clash with fellow judge Adam Levine, and she was rumored to be a diva. So that’s why it’s nice to see her at the premiere for season 4. I don’t think she was contractually obligated to show up, it’s not like she’s on this season, but she did and she really put her game face on!

This is such an improvement for Christina, whom we regularly see looking wasted with day-glo fake bake and caked-on makeup. For comparison, this is how she looked the last time we saw her at an event, in October of last year.

See, she looks awesome now. She’s still fake baking but it’s not as dark. She wore a really cute, flattering dress, which Just Jared identifies as Parker with a Versace belt. The back of the dress is white, you can see it in the photo below. For her makeup she went with a neutral lip, cheek and eye, and she looks quite sober. It also looks as if she’s lost weight. This makes me wonder if she ditched that guy who served as her enabler, Matt Rutler, but I did find photos of them together just a month ago. Whatever is going on in Christina’s life, she should keep it up. Even if it only involved hiring a new makeup artist. I would love to see her get rid of that brassy blonde hair and go with a more nuanced color, but baby steps. This is a big difference!

Also there we have Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton, looking coupled up.

Usher, who is hot to me when I don’t pay too much attention to his fashion. Those shiny red boots are atrocious! Also, I like him better with shorter hair.

And Yvette Nicole Brown! Just because I love her. Shakira wasn’t there, boo.

Miranda Lambert & Blake Shelton tweet-deny tabloid rumors of his infidelity

For the past year, the tabloids have been trying to make something out of the idea that Blake Shelton (still?) has a wandering eye after marrying Miranda Lambert. Last year, the tabloids were all pearl-clutchy about Blake tweeting encouragement and jokes to then-21-year-old Cady Groves, a contestant on The Voice. Long story short, Blake is still tweeting her and they might have met up a few times to talk and drink (because Blake loves to drink), and the tabloids are still “OMG Blake is cheating!” For the record, it’s possible, I guess. I don’t have strong feelings about Blake or Miranda, but I do know there’s always a lot of drama about them and how they got together (he left his wife for Miranda, there was overlap). Anyway, Life & Style has run two cover stories on this “scandal” and Miranda and Blake decided to comment. Via Twitter.

The latest “it” couple to make headlines over an alleged cheating scandal is none other than country music royalty Blake Shelton and wife Miranda Lambert. But the country crooners aren’t taking the reports to heart — or even seriously, for that matter.

The pair are the focus of a new tabloid magazine cover, which reports that Shelton’s alleged affair with a 23-year-old artist has shaken up their “perfect marriage.” Shelton, 36, took to Twitter on Sunday, March 17, to address the rumors head-on.

“Hey @mirandalambert… I just read in a tabloid that our marriage is falling apart! FOCK!” he wrote jokingly.

Lambert, 29, was just as flippant in her reply.

“Oh no! Can’t wait to read if we make it or not,” she shot back, to which Shelton heartily wrote: “Ba! Ha! Ha! You see y’all! I’m making her funnier!”

This isn’t the first time that the pair has taken to Twitter to address rumors about their private lives. Last November, the duo similarly shot down reports that they were expecting a baby.

“Wow! I just read the headline! ‘We are having a baby’ yay! Blake Shelton, we’re getting a new puppy?” she tweeted at her husband of just under two years.

“Either [Miranda is pregnant] or Reese had my baby…I’m confused too!” Shelton, referring to the cover, which featured a split of Reese Witherspoon and her new baby boy with Shelton and Lambert.

“I think it’s gonna take the Witherspoon name,” he added. “Look, I know I’ve gained some weight but the test was negative!”

[From Us Weekly]

Eh. At least they can laugh it off, I guess. Considering the long-standing drama with these two… I do worry that they’ll burn out on their crazy-love and when the spark is gone, it will be a huge mess. Of course, that was my concern with Brangelina too, and they’re still going strong. Maybe Blake and Miranda will stand the test of time and weather every storm. Or maybe he’ll end up in bed with some young thang and Miranda will find out and it will be chaos.

Miranda Lambert, worried about Blake Shelton ‘cheating’ over Twitter?

We don’t have much of Life & Style’s cover story this week, but it seems like it could have been pretty juicy. Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton are the most controversial couple of country music, I think – people have very strong opinions, for and against. The people against them always point out that Blake dumped his first wife Kaynette Gern as soon as he hooked up with Miranda (at the very least, there was some overlap), which makes Miranda a “homewrecker”. People who support them always point out that Miranda and Blake seem made for each other, that they’re both damaged and “real” and they complete each other in some passionate, crazy way.

Still, is it possible that Blake has a wandering eye? That’s how Miranda got him in the first place, so maybe. L&S seems to be claiming in their cover story that Miranda is “scared” that Blake’s “flirtatious tweets” will eventually lead him to cheat. Get that? It’s not that Blake has actually put his p in another woman’s v. It’s about his tweeting. According to Jezebel’s round-up, Miranda has now taken to following Blake around while he’s on tour and she’s “implementing her three fool-proof rules for making their marriage work: Face time every two weeks, she can check his texts, and she gets to chaperone him on The Voice.” As for the “23-year-old singer” – I couldn’t figure it out by looking at his Twitter, but CB pointed out a story from last year in which Blake was tweet-flirting with a young country star named Cady Groves. She was 21 years old then – maybe it’s the same chick?

Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton’s “Wild Marriage” on the cover of People: why?

When I first saw this People Magazine cover, I thought that Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert must have some sort of deal with People where they would get a follow-up cover the year after their wedding cover. I was wrong though, their wedding was on the cover of US Weekly, not People, and it was a whole 18 months ago. The accompany article admits that they’ve only been together about 150 days since they’ve been married, which is roughly a quarter of the time by my estimate. Plus, rumor has it that they got together when Blake was still with his last wife. (Blake denies he cheated with Miranda, but Miranda sort-of admits it happened that way.) So why are they being held up as an example of a couple to emulate? Maybe it’s some kind of cross-promotion with The CMA Awards and Blake’s new Christmas special, which is mentioned in the piece. (Update: the CMA Awards are Thursday night, so that’s what this is about.) People knew their female readers wouldn’t buy it unless Miranda was on the cover too and the focus was on their relationship. Here’s more:

After 18 months of marriage, Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert are still acting like newlyweds. So, what’s the secret to their wedded bliss?

“We won’t go more than two weeks without seeing each other,” says Lambert, 28, in PEOPLE’s new issue.

But sometimes, not seeing each other works wonders too. If they spend too much time together, says Shelton, 36, “we’ll kill each other!”

Despite their busy schedules, which Lambert has said meant they’ve spent only about 150 days together since they exchanged vows under an arch of antlers in her native Texas in May 2011, the couple has recently been able to hunker down in their rented home in Hollywood (where Shelton tapes The Voice).

Up next for country’s fun-loving couple: Each is nominated for four CMA Awards, which will be handed out Thursday; Lambert heads into the studio to start work on a new Pistol Annies album; and Shelton celebrates his new holiday album Cheers, It’s Christmas with a TV special called Blake Shelton’s Not So Family Christmas, airing Dec. 3 on NBC.

[From People]

Again, of course they’re acting like Newlyweds because they are! They’ve only been married a year and a half and they never see each other. Also, the cover on People says at the bottom “ALL ABOUT THEIR BABY PLANS” in all Kanye-caps like that, but you might not be able to see it under the ad. Miranda is just 28, they have time. I really thought she was about 35 and might be having fertility problems, but it turns out she’s much younger than I assumed. I bet they will have kids.

As for this couple, I have to admit I don’t give a crap. I don’t wish them ill, but I really don’t care how they’re doing. I mean, ever since Blake Shelton bragged about running over innocent box turtles with his car for kicks he’s been dead to me. Some of you clued me in that Miranda is no better, and that she once killed a baby alligator with Blake on a sports show. (Link leads to video.) So they’re jerks. There’s a difference between hunting for meat or to cull the population and doing it just to kill animals that are minding their own business. I don’t think they’re this great example of a down home couple. Especially given how they got together.

Blake Shelton “jokes” about deliberately running over a box turtle: cruel or get over it?

Blake Shelton has a long, well documented drinking and tweeting problem, to the point where his wife Miranda Lambert has called herself a “twittow,” or Twitter widow. (I know, it’s stupid.) Blake’s latest Twitter controversy involves him bragging about running over a box turtle in Oklahoma and wondering aloud if they’re endangered in that state. (From what I could find, they’re not, they’re just threatened depending on the species.) When people tried to call Blake out for harming wildlife he got all defensive and angry, and ultimately tried to claim that he wasn’t even in Oklahoma and was making a joke. Weak. Put down the Barcadi and step away from the Blackberry.

On July 27, Shelton made the odd choice to boast about how he deliberately ran over a turtle with his car:

@blakeshelton
Does anyone know if the Eastern Box turtle is protected in Oklahoma? If so I didn’t just swerve to the shoulder of the road to smash one…

Not surprisingly, the Twittersphere responded with concern and anger. NPR blogger Barbara J. King replied to Shelton’s tweet, asking if it was a bad joke:

That turtle’s life meant something- was your tweet a bad joke? Why would you be so cruel to a living being?

Shelton, in return, told her to “Shut up...”

After that remark, Shelton was inundated with angry tweets, most of which he flippantly responded to, but later he responded with increasing hostility to a user named @turtlefeed, who was repeatedly tweeting about Shelton’s perceived apathy toward animal life. Sheton wrote:

Hey @turtlefeed. Before u make an even bigger dipshit of urself you should research on how much money I have raised to feed homeless animals,” adding, “Hey @turtlefeed.. I solely have raised over a million dollars in animal rescue/conservation alone… How much have you raised? Oh. Ok. Next!

Watching a Twitter fight between a celebrity and their followers is always simultaneously amusing and depressing, but in a series of tweets, Shelton finally broke down and said he was joking about killing the turtle:

The best part of all of this is that the dumb asses didn’t even look to see that I’m not even in Oklahoma today!! I’m in North Dakota!! Do they even have turtles in North Dakota?!!! God almighty!!! What’s wrong with people?! Get a life!! Get a job!! Get laid!! For once!!!” He later added, “For the last time I didn’t hit a turtle! I haven’t seen a turtle! So please all you turtle freaks go back to eating your boogers!! It’s ok.

Shelton got so much flak, both for his joke and for the way that he responded to critics, that he was finally forced to apologize for having a poor sense of humor:

@blakeshelton
Ok.. Now that “Turtle-Gate” is over I want to apologize for my ignorant joke.. I never ran over a turtle. It wasn’t even possible.

[From Huffington Post]

I don’t get it. If he didn’t kill a turtle why was he acting like he did until people responded negatively? Sure he likes to hunt, but in my mind that’s different, that’s killing an animal for meat, not just because you can. Although a lot of people do it for sport of course. I never really hunted or understood the appeal of hunting, but I’m a meat eater and am not against it as long as the animal is used for meat.

I live in the country in Virginia, and I’ve “saved” a few box turtles who have wandered onto the road. If you’re driving and there aren’t any other cars around, it’s just the right thing to do to move them to the side. Box turtles don’t hurt anyone, and they’re actually kind of cute. Plus they move slow so it’s easy to rescue them. (I once even “saved” a snapping turtle, although all I really did was stop. The next dude who stopped had big protective gloves and a box and stuff. He was the one who moved it to the other side of the road. There’s no way I would have done that on my own.) I’ve never personally seen anyone swerve to deliberately hit a turtle, although a friend of mine claims to have seen people do it. It just seems like such a stupid, redneck thing to do, nonetheless brag about as if it were funny.

My dad saved this little guy below a couple of years ago, and I took these photos. My son loved this turtle and called him “boxy.” He hung out at my parents’ pond for a little while before he decided to head off into the woods nearby.

Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert at the ACM Awards: overdone or lovely?

Kaiser already covered some of the fashion from last night’s ACM Awards, including Taylor Swift and Nicole Kidman, who both looked gorgeous and very well put together. Here we have country queens Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert, who both looked a little too “done,” in my opinion. First off is Carrie in strapless Abed Mahfouz couture. Her look is kind of amazing on one hand, but I’m getting a “prom” vibe from it and I feel like we’ve seen this look from her before. I just looked through some of her recent fashion, and Carrie is actually good at mixing it up. It’s kind of a general default look for the red carpet, which why it seems familiar. I love the sheer shirt though. This is one of the few dresses I’ve seen where a see through skirt actually works. This dress seems to be washing her out when coupled with her very light hair and pink lipstick.

Carrie performed “Good Girl” last night (video is here) and she was nominated for Female Artist, which ended up going to Miranda Lambert. Miranda also took home Album of the Year for “Four the Record.” The Boot points out that Miranda has won ACM awards for three out of four of her albums!

Miranda was in gold scaly formfitting Randi Rahm. I have mixed feelings about this dress. It looks like it’s shedding a little, but there’s something so bold and killer about it. Plus it goes perfectly with her coloring, hair and makeup.

As for the short, tight patchwork number that Miranda changed into for the press room later that night, it was just awful. She should have stuck with the gold dress. Holy cleavage!

Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland was in this pink lace and chiffon gown, which I actually like. Kaiser emailed me that she loves Nettles but finds her style to be off. I think this dress is fine on its own. The color is a little bright but it’s striking and the cutout pattern is so pretty. It’s the bright neon bedazzled belt that just ruins it for me. Nettles wore a similar mismatched neon green belt to an event last month, and a photo of that is below. Also, doesn’t she look a little like Kirsten Dunst?

Is Blake Shelton cheating on Miranda Lambert with a 21 yo singer he met on Twitter?

It’s pretty well known that Blake Shelton cheated on his first wife with fellow country singer Miranda Lambert, his current wife. Miranda admitted as much in an interview last year. So all sorts of expressions come to mind when I read this story, particularly “once a cheater…” and “how you get ‘em…” I’m not saying that Blake is necessarily “cheating” with this young woman, as in boning her, just that he seems to have an inappropriate relationship with her that goes beyond just business. Here’s more:

Blake Shelton… hooked up with [country singer] Cady Groves, 21, on Twitter almost two years ago, and their cozy online banter quickly began to sizzle, say sources.

“Cady had a huge crush on Blake and followed him on Twitter for almost a year before they formally met,” a pal told The Enquirer.

“She was new to the country music scene and doing everything she could to get her boot in the door, so Cady sent Blake messages asking him to be in her country music video.”

With the encouragement of a video producer, Blake finally agreed to make a cameo appearance as a tow trucker driver who impounds Cady’s car.

“Cady was estatic – and their relationship really heated up after that,” the pal confided.

“Blake and Cady were calling and texting each other every day – sometimes several times a day.

“Oftentimes Cady would get a call in the middle of the day, then she’d suddenly pack her bags and fly to Oklahoma where Blake lives. Her trips were always very quick – usually 24 hours or less.”

Cady is originally from Marlow, OK, about 100 miles from Tishomingo, the small town where [Blake] and his wife of nine months live…

Cady’s crush for Blake was on full display during a recent interview.

“Blake was a huge inspiration to me!” she gushed. “He is an amazing guy. It’s just too bad he’s married. I love older men! I’m a petite 21 year-old and Blake is tall and 35. That’s called a perfect fit where we’re from.

“I think (Blake) is very handsome, and as a couple we would look great. We even had photos taken together on set with his arm around me.

“Any girl would be lucky to have him. Miranda should consider herself lucky…”

Now Miranda, 28, is doing everything in her power to make sure the young hottie doesn’t steal her man, say insiders.

“She warned Blake to cool his heels with Cady,” a source revealed. “And the communication between them has all but ended.”

[From The National Enquirer, print edition, March 5, 2012]

Listen to the way this girl talks about Blake! You don’t say that about someone else’s husband! Blake has a problem with drunken over-tweeting, and Miranda has said that her husband is addicted to it and often ends up tweetin’ and deletin’. I would say that maybe Blake isn’t particularly interested in this one (hot young) singer and just likes to wile away time chatting to people online, with it sometimes going too far. Blake actually appeared in this girl’s music video, though, and she’s supposedly visited him several times. Miranda should probably put her foot down on this “friendship,” and it sounds like she has. She knows what Blake is capable of.

Here’s a link to this chick Cady Grove’s music video that Blake appears in, which is ironically about cheatin’. She looks so young! That kind of makes me think Blake’s friendship with her is “innocent” and he’s just enjoying the attention. Blake comes in at 1:33. Look at how he looks at her. I know he’s “acting,” but still!

Miranda Lambert admits inappropriate attraction with then-married Blake Shelton

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

An interview with country singer Miranda Lambert aired on Dateline last night, but I’m finding the excerpt they released online released incredibly frustrating in that it cuts off right before Miranda explains whether she was cheating with then-married Blake Shelton (her current husband) when they first met back in September, 2005. Less than six months later, Blake and his first wife were divorced and he was seeing Miranda. So there were allegations of cheating at the time. Miranda nearly admits that’s what was going on, but then the clip, which is labeled “web only” on Dateline’s website, cuts off. So I don’t think the real interview has her full quotes, just this excerpt in which she sort-of admits that she knows what was going on between her and then-married Blake was wrong. People has some of her quotes below (the video is above), but again there’s no closure on them and I feel that they’re jumping to conclusions by saying she denied being a homewrecker.

Miranda Lambert may be a lot of things – but she’s not a homewrecker.

In a new interview with Hoda Kotb, which aired Monday night on Dateline, the country singer says she felt instant chemistry after meeting her now-husband Blake Shelton years ago while performing with him. Only, there was a slight problem.

“I knew he was married,” Lambert, 27, said during Monday’s interview. “I had seen their wedding picture in Country Weekly.” (Shelton, 35, was married to Kaynette Williams from 2003-2006).

“I knew better,” she continued, “like, this is off limits. My parents are private investigators for God’s sake. I’ve seen this my whole life – affairs. Of all people to know better, I know better than this.”

Nevertheless, the attraction between the two – who wed in May after dating since 2005 – was undeniable.

“I didn’t know what to do with it,” she said. “It was, like, my first duet with some other country star, and I didn’t know if it was just initial butterflies because of that.”

Continued Lambert: “I don’t know what it was. It was just this draw to each other.”

[From People]

I didn’t hear her deny being a homewrecker at all, that’s People’s interpretation of what she said. She just said she “knew better,” not that she didn’t do it. I’m going to leave it at that.

In a lighter clip, Miranda admits that she has problems with Blake’s incessant drunken Tweeting, and she calls herself a “Twittow.” It’s pretty damn funny. She says “We have come to Jesus about those [tweets] all the time. For a while I was a ‘Twittow,’ You are in love with Twitter and I’m your girlfriend on the side. He’ll delete it from his phone sometimes, because he realizes he needs help… He promised me, the last time he put it back on his phone after he deleted it that he was going to keep it under control… we haven’t seen each other in a while, so I haven’t been able [to check].” Well, at least he’s not cheating with another woman, right?
