Singer Bryan Adams has a mother-son team of stalkers

Okay, so he hasn’t really been relevant since the early 90s, but that doesn’t mean Canadian singer Bryan Adams doesn’t have fans. I’m talking crazy nutjob fans who follow him everywhere he goes. A mother and son who first met Bryan in a restaurant have been showing up at his home and other places – to the point that Adams is seeking police protection. Turns out these devoted fans have a long history of mental illness. Lucky him!

Rock star Bryan Adams has called in police after being stalked by a mother and her son, it emerged today.

The 49-year-old, who lives in Chelsea, has been hounded by the obsessed fans for a number of weeks, and has now involved Scotland Yard.

The pair, understood to be from Romania, first saw the Canadian singer in a restaurant and approached him for an autograph.

They later turned up at his west London home and have been shadowing him ever since. It is thought they are suffering from psychiatric problems.

Adams, who is famous for the hit song Everything I Do (I Do It For You), which spent 16 weeks at number one from July 1991, is said to be “very concerned” by the harassment.

A source said: “They have become obsessed with Bryan, turning up at his house and following him everywhere.

“It started when they saw him in a restaurant. Bryan likes to keep a low profile and is hardly the most recognisable rock star.

‘He was happy to sign an autograph, but this woman and her son have become obsessed with him.

‘He doesn’t want them to get in any serious trouble, but he really wants to be left alone by them.’

[From The Daily Mail]

Romania- maybe they’re vampires! With really bad taste in music! Maybe I’m just being cruel today, but when I picture someone stalking Bryan Adams, I imagine them stepping straight out of 1987 – pegged jeans, Reebok high tops and teased up mall hair. If I were Bryan, I’d call the cops too. Who needs to be reminded of those hideous fashions ever again?

Bryan has actually been doing quite well lately as a photographer. He had a major exhibit of his work earlier this year in Germany, featuring photos of musicians such as Mick Jagger, Amy Winehouse and Rod Stweart.

By the way, Bryan’s hit, “Straight From the Heart,” was my high school prom song. Yeah. Time to take my Geritol now.

Bryan Adams says ‘Summer of 69′ is about ‘making love in the Summertime’

Rocker Bryan Adams was on the CBS Early show and was asked about his 1984 hit classic “Summer of 69.” Adams admitted that the song was about sex, and said “A lot of people think it’s about the year, but actually it’s more about making love in the Summertime. It uses 69 as a sexual reference.”

Adams is 48 and was born in 1959 so in 1969 he would have been under 10 and too young to be reminiscing about playing guitar, being in a band and meeting a girl at a drive in that year. Instead he’s referencing some later summer, probably in the late 70s. The “Summer of 77″ just doesn’t have the same ring to it.

I remember when someone told me “Rocking Robin” was about sex, I was all “huh?” The “Summer of 69″ just makes sense, though.

Adams still looks great and he’s got a new album out. 11 debuted at number one in his native Canada when it was released on March 17 of this year. It came out in May in the US but is only being sold at Walmart and Sam’s Club and peaked at just 80 on the charts.

Here’s the video for “Summer of ’69″

And here’s Adams’ latest single, “I’d Thought I’d Seen Everything.” Some call this guy cheesy, but this is a solid song.

Thanks to The Huffington Post for heads up on this story.
