Jon Bon Jovi on Justin Bieber’s concert delays: ‘you’re an a-hole, go to work’

I just mentioned yesterday that the more I cover Jon Bon Jovi the more awesome he seems and today is no exception. Bon Jovi and his band (sans Richie Sambora, whom he says is welcome to return anytime) are currently on tour in Europe and he’s been doing some very candid interviews. In his interview with The Mirror we covered yesterday, Bon Jovi spoke openly about his daughter’s overdose on heroin last fall, saying he hoped she was done with drugs and that the incident was his “worst moment as a father.” In this latest interview, with The London Standard, Bon Jovi was asked about Justin Bieber’s nearly two hour concert delay the last time he performed in that city. He didn’t mince words and he very clearly called Bieber out for being an unprofessional douche:

Jon Bon Jovi has branded Justin Bieber an “a**hole” for emerging on stage two hours late for a concert at the O2 arena.

The 51-year-old rock singer, who has a reputation as one of the hardest-working men in music, claimed the teenage star risks alienating his fans if he continues to disappoint.

Bieber later blamed “technical issues” and claimed he was only 40 minutes late for the show in March.

Jon, speaking to the Standard in Vienna on the latest leg of the band’s Because We Can world tour, said: “Every generation has guys that do that, none of that is new.

“They run the risk of disrespecting their audience members who have worked hard to pay for their ticket, to give you the permission to take two or three hours of their lives — or in that kid’s case, 80 minutes of their lives.

“Do it once, you can be forgiven. Do it enough times and shame on you. They won’t have you back. Then it just becomes a cliché. It’s really not cool — you’re an a**hole. Go to f***in’ work!”

[From Standard.co.uk via Radar Online]

Cue Justin Bieber Twitter meltdown. To his credit he hasn’t said anything online yet, just some Twitter statements about how he’s focused and knows who he is or something. He’s been doing charity work and is working with ConAgra Foods to bring food and awareness to food banks. On Friday he visited a Las Vegas, NV elementary school as part of the program. So maybe he’s trying to change, maybe he’ll pull it together and be a fraction of the professional that Bon Jovi is, but the kid is only 19 and has a huge head. He needs to learn some humility and get to work, just like Bon Jovi is saying.

Did you hear that Bieber got booed at the Billboard Awards? He received the first-ever Milestone Award, and he spent his speech defending himself, saying things like “This is not a gimmick. I’m an artist and I should be taken seriously and all this other bull should not be spoken of.” The crowd was booing and counter-cheering throughout it all. The Bieber backlash has only just begun.

Olivia Munn: ‘it’s a very antiquated idea to think you can’t be pretty, smart & funny’

Olivia Munn is in the upcoming issue of Esquire, the one with Brad Pitt on the cover. They have a bunch of bikini and tank top photos of her, which look familiar, and a somewhat brief profile with her, which sounds familiar. Esquire doesn’t fawn over celebrities, so some of that may be coming through in this interview. I was left wondering what Munn was trying to prove. It sounds similar to what she’s tried to prove in the past, in fact she said this exact same thing a year and a half ago in an interview with Movieline. (She’s not being requoted here, she’s just making the same point in the same way.)

Overall you get the impression that Munn is a force of nature, that the writer found her exhausting, and that she’s letting Munn’s comments speak for themselves. At the beginning of the interview Munn fibbed a lot and talked nonsense, and then she got to the meat of what she wanted to say – that she’s pretty, smart and funny. It sounded like she’s quite far up her own ass, although she made some decent points in her narcissistic way. Here’s some of the interview, with more at the source:

She moved around so much and was a stranger so often. “All the kids were cliqued up. I would end up eating with the old librarians.”

By now, I find that I am splayed across an ottoman with a fruit plate spilling onto the floor, Munn’s voice clear and strong. We are back to reality. “I believe it was Galifianakis who was saying something like People who are attractive can’t be funny, because funny comes from pain. And it’s interesting, because in my life, I moved around a lot, and I had a really abusive stepfather. I have a great stepfather now, but my first stepfather was, for fourteen years, really horrible. And you move around a lot and you’re constantly the new kid, because you’re a military family. Oklahoma, Utah, Japan, different parts of Japan — and humor and being self-deprecating and sarcastic was the thing that could break ice in every situation. And so it’s a very antiquated idea to think that you can’t be pretty and smart and funny.”

Yeah, suck it, Galifianakis. By this point, the combination of things that make up Olivia Munn has won me over — again. I manage one last question, something about the schizophrenic demands of the business and how or if she plans to reconcile the new Olivia Munn with the old, some shit like that. She gets quiet for a second.

“It’s interesting, because different people will tell me, ‘Well, you’re not, you shouldn’t, you don’t have to do this anymore.’ But I don’t think that there is anything wrong with it, and it actually bothers me, like when I was on The Daily Show and there was this Web site that wanted to criticize me, saying, How could she be on the cover of Maxim and be on this smart show? So I did the cover of Maxim again. Because, you know what? Don’t you want for your own daughters to grow up and be smart and funny and beautiful and embrace their sexuality?”

[From Esquire]

She did Maxim for the children! That bit about how she’s pretty, smart and funny, which she said in two different ways this time, was that prompted by anything except a burning need to enlighten her fans? Did anyone tell her she couldn’t be all those things except a random website and maybe Zach Galifinakis, who made a general comment that wasn’t directed at her? We get it, that’s the image she’s tried to cultivate for years. There’s a point in one’s career when you really shouldn’t spell out the media strategy you’ve been so obviously following. Of course we want our daughters to be pretty, smart and funny. We also want them to be humble and gracious, which are qualities Munn could work on cultivating. That’s sad about her step father being abusive. I didn’t mean to ignore that, I was just so mesmerized by everything else she was saying.

Christina Aguilera gets $12.5 million deal to return to The Voice: overpaid?

I guess it was always the plan to have Christina Aguilera back on The Voice after her hiatus this season, and it’s happening. The Wrap reports that Christina has inked a $12.5 million deal to return to the show as a coach, and that Cee Lo Green is returning as well for substantially less. In comparison, XTina earned a whopping $17 million for the same gig last year. So she’s taking a pay cut, but she’s still raking it in. The Wrap reminds us that Britney made $15 million for X Factor and Mariah’s salary on Idol was $18 million. So there’s some kind of benchmark for overpaid divas on reality judging shows.

Cee Lo Green is in advanced negotiations to return to Season 5 of “The Voice” alongside Christina Aguilera, according to an NBC executive with knowledge of the situation.

“We are not there yet, but working toward it,” said the executive.

As TheWrap reported earlier on Monday, Aguilera is already set to return next season as a coach on NBC’s hit singing competition.

Aguilera has signed her contract to return to the NBC talent competition, an individual with knowledge of the deal has told TheWrap. According to the insider, Aguilera’s return has been kept under wraps for a couple of months.

The pop diva will be paid $12.5 million for Season 5, said the executive with knowledge of the deal.

Another insider close to the negotiations said Aguilera made about $17 million when she was a coach on Season 3, which made her one of the highest paid women on reality TV. The insider said she could earn a figure as high as that again, depending on the number of hours she appeared. (Believe it or not, “Voice” coaches are paid by the hour.)

Green would not make anywhere near Aguilera’s salary. Negotiations are still underway for coaches Adam Levine and Blake Shelton, who are also expected to return, the insider said.

For comparison, Mariah Carey currently makes a reported $18 million on Fox’s “American Idol” and Britney Spears made a reported $15 million on “The X Factor.”

Aguilera announced that she was leaving “The Voice” last December to promote her “Lotus” album and tour. Cee Lo Green also announced his exit at the same time. Shakira and Usher replaced them on the current season.

At the time, executive producer Mark Burnett played down the departures, saying that he expected that his coaches would rotate in and out as they are working artists. He also said they were always welcome to return. Shakira is likely to return in a future season.

[From The Wrap via Radar]

This must mean that Usher and Shakira are off The Voice for now. I haven’t been paying attention to the show this season but Shakira has been spouting a lot of crap recently about how hard it is to be a working mom and lose the baby weight. She sounds like Goop lately, and there’s a good reason for that. Shakira also trains with fraudster Tracy Anderson. Shakira just claimed that she looked like a “Shar Pei” after she gave birth. You know this is the exact same thing that Gwyneth Paltrow said about her post-partum figure. Does Tracy encourage these women to sound clueless or are they drawn to her because she justifies their narcissism? Unknown.

Getting back to XTina, I hope this means that she’s going to stay somewhat sober and coherent. She had issues during her last stint on The Voice but she seems to have cleaned up recently and I hope that sticks for her. Not that I’m too invested in her well being. Drunk diva XTina is fun. Plus she wears the best outfits.

Jada Pinkett Smith on her 12 yo daughter Willow’s career: ‘she will make a comeback’

We’ve heard rumors for some time that Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith’s youngest child, Willow, 12, wants out of the show business career her parents are creating for her and her brother, Jaden. Willow has laid relatively low lately while Jaden, 14, has a new blockbuster scifi movie coming out with his dad called After Earth. That movie premieres at the end of this month and Jaden is poised to become a young superstar. He has a rap career and a fashion line as well. So in comparison Willow’s pop stardom was short lived and she’s being a kid and doing her thing. But that’s ok, because her mom promises Willow is going to “make a comeback.” Willow is 12 freaking years old. How do you make a comeback at 12 years old? Yes she had a hit single, but please.

Jada said this in an interview with the AP, in which she’s promoting her new documentary about 70s activist Angela Davis. Will has told this story about Willow rejecting the lead in Annie before, but it’s interesting to me how Jada words it.

AP: Wasn’t Willow supposed to star in “Annie”?

Pinkett Smith: She was supposed to star in “Annie” and Willow has decided not to. … She decided that she wants to be 12 and says right now she’s really concentrating on music skills. She’s taking piano lessons, taking her singing lessons every day and writing. She’s really just developing herself. … She’s taking her time to develop her skills, so when she feels like people are ready to know the real Willow, then she will make a comeback.

AP: As an actress, businesswoman, and the matriarch of a high-profile family, how do you deal with the constant rumors about you and Will?

Pinket Smith: They’re quite easy obstacles. When I really think about what people are going through in the world today, and dealing with people’s speculations is one thing. And knowing simply that that’s all that it is. (laughs) When you’re living your truth and you understand your truth, things get very easy. They get less complicated at least, so I’m very blessed. I am very blessed, so speculations I can deal with.

[From Huffington Post]

Notice that Jada doesn’t deny any of the rumors about her troubled maybe-open marriage with Will. She just talks about living her “truth,” which she’s talked around for a while now.

Getting back to the topic, the last we heard from Will on parenting he was saying that they let their kids do whatever they want, basically. Will saidas young as possible, give them as much control as possible.” This is the Scientology hands-off, old souls in little bodies approach to parenting, although the Pinkett-Smiths have denied that they’re members of that famous cult.

I think the Smiths have this philosophy as long as their kids are doing what they expect of them in general. It seems clear to me that stardom and fame is expected, hence Jada promising that Willow will make a “comeback.” Does that mean a comeback to her music career or a comeback that involves multi-hyphenates like Jaden? It doesn’t seem fair to these kids. They’re not just growing up in the spotlight, they’re being expected to perform just like their parents. But I do give the Smiths credit for letting Willow say she wasn’t going to do Annie. If Willow told her parents she wanted to go to school and get a degree towards a professional non-Hollywood career would they support that too? I hope so.

Oh and Willow got new hair! She dyed it lilac/purple. I like that her parents let her do her own thing with her hair and fashion.

Willow is shown on 5-9-13 with purple hair and on 2-13-13 at the Michael Kors show at Fashion Week. She looks so bored there! Credit: WENN.com

Barbara Walters, 83, to retire from The View: about time or end of an era?

A couple of months ago we heard that Elisabeth Hasselbeck was leaving The View, she was reportedly pushed out for being “too right wing” and polarizing viewers. She’s been there for 10 years, so it seemed more like they were trying to mix up the panel rather than anyone being surprised by the same crap she’s been spewing daily. At that time, Joy Behar announced that she was vacating as co-host as well, and that she plans to leave her 16 year post when her contract runs out in August.

Then just last month co-host Whoopi Goldberg had some hilariously candid things to say about her job. She made it clear that she phones it in for a paycheck, explaining “I take a paycheck every other week. That’s all I do. I could give a sh-t what comes. I do my job — I have a contract. That’s where I stand. I don’t give a f-ck.” I want to hear Whoopi’s thoughts on the fact that her boss, The View’s creator Barbara Walters, is finally announcing her retirement at 83. Walters suffered an accident and hospitalization earlier this year and has only been on the television panel sporadically. She will finally step down in 2014, but assures us that the show will continue without her:

Barbara Walters is keeping her promise.

E! News has confirmed that the veteran newswoman will make her official retirement announcement during tomorrow’s episode of The View.

“I am very happy with my decision and look forward to a wonderful and special year ahead both on ‘The View’ and with ABC News,” she told ABC News. “I created ‘The View’ and am delighted it will last beyond my leaving it.”

She continues to say, “I do not want to appear on another program or climb another mountain. I want instead to sit on a sunny field and admire the very gifted women—and OK, some men too—who will be taking my place.”

ABC News President Ben Sherwood says, “There’s only one Barbara Walters, and we look forward to making her final year on television as remarkable, path-breaking and news-making as Barbara herself. Barbara will always have a home at ABC News and we look forward to a year befitting her brilliant career, filled with exclusive interviews, great adventures and indelible memories.”

After word got out that Walters was planning to retire in May of 2014, rumors began swirling that she would let everyone know about her career plans on the show in early April.

[From E! Online]

I’ve covered Barbara Walters many times and I didn’t realize that she’s 83 years old. Her plastic surgery is obvious but well done. I assumed she was in her mid 70s tops. Barbara is at an age where it seems inevitable that she steps down, but you get the impression that she’s holding on because she doesn’t want to lose control of her empire. She should have left back in 2007 when she got into that big to-do with Rosie O’Donnell. Remember that? Rosie and Barbara couldn’t shut up about it. Barbara was in yet another public feud with a different ex host, Star Jones, whom she trashed in her memoir. At that point Barbara was in her late 70s. She should have seen the writing on the wall earlier than this.

John Krasinski on The Office: it’s an understatement to say this show gave me everything

I didn’t think much about John Krasinski until I saw him in Promised Land with Matt Damon. Damon can get me to watch anything, and maybe Krasinski seemed hotter just by being in proximity to Damon, but I also noticed what a solid actor he is, and how easy he is on the eyes. He holds his own. (Although I give the movie a B-. It’s decent, but predictable.) So it’s nice to learn more about Kraskinski, and to realize he’s a standup guy too. Most of you reading this surely already know this, so forgive me for being late to the table. Slide over and make some room for me!

Krasinski of course got his start on The Office, and he’s stayed there for all 9 seasons. He only has the nicest things to say about the show, which has its finale next week. It’s refreshing to see a guy with a burgeoning movie career stick with the TV show that made his career, and speak highly of it. He could have easily left years ago when he started to score romcoms but he stuck with The Office and has so much gratitude for the show. Krasinski did a new interview with US Weekly in which he sang the show’s praises:

Tell US about the final day at work.
The last show we taped was everyone exiting the office. We were all joking around and after one of the takes, [executive producer] Greg Daniels said, “That’s the end of The Office!” It was a guy punch.

Spill: Which of your costars cried?
I don’t think there were any tears. I’m saving mine for Barbara Walters! But the only thing that prevented us from having a meltdown is we’re all so proud of the show.

Jim’s deadpan reaction shots were a hallmark. Tough habit to break?
I wish I could say I was professional enough to never look at a camera on another job, but that’s already been blown several times.

What’s your takeaway from the whole experience?
To say this show gave me everything is the biggest understatement. I was a waiter before The Office, so to me, this was a winning lottery ticket. Everything about my life has changed.

[From US Weekly, print edition, May 20, 2013]

That’s so nice! This is the real reason why I have a new crush on Kraskinski, though. It’s a few days old now but have you seen his lip sync battle with Jimmy Fallon? If you haven’t, you owe it to yourself to watch this. If you have limited time, skip to 4:00 to see Fallon rap like a master. Krasinski somehow manages to top him while doing Run DMC though, he’s such a showman! Then skip to 7:20 to see them do Boys II Men “I’ll Make Love To You.” This makes my week.

Oh and I should talk about The Office! I don’t watch it (yet, I could still pick it up!) but this week was the penultimate episode and Dustin at Pajiba is saying it was awesome. (Spoilers on that link if you haven’t seen it yet.) A lot of people are going to be so sad that show is ending. I wish I could say the same thing about fellow NBC show Community. I’m still trying to get over how that wonderful show has been so thoroughly beat-down and butchered. I’ll focus on Kraskinski again to get my mind off of that. What a tall drink he is.

Jesse James’ show cancelled & he blasts Discovery for ‘phoney, staged’ shows

Jesse James has made a nice living on reality television. He first shot to fame about ten years ago, thanks to the Discovery channel finding him at his West Coast Choppers customization shop and giving him a gig as host of “Monster Garage,” which ran from 2002-2006. James shut down West Coast Choppers in 2010 because it wasn’t profitable. Prior to that he admitted that he doesn’t make money tricking out bikes, and that “We probably lose money on every motorcycle we build still, and luckily we have other businesses to support the bike shop.” Without the fame and brand recognition that came from reality television he wouldn’t have made his millions selling branded merchandise.

The Discovery Channel made West Coast Choppers a household name, and last year they gave Jesse a spin off show called “Jesse James: Outlaw Garage.” Well it got canceled due to low ratings and James really went off on the Discovery channel. He posted a blog entry trashing them. He’s since deleted it, but Radar has the details:

Jesse James television show has been axed — and the outspoken love rat is putting his former employer, Discovery Channel, on blast.

Calling the television network “dumb motherf*ckers” who produce “fake, phoney, staged, scripted, bullish*t,” the 44-year-old announced the end of Jesse James: Outlaw Garage in a blog post, RadarOnline.com has learned.

“For all those asking about Outlaw Garage, I’m sorry to say that I’m done with Discovery,” James, who married his fourth wife earlier this year, wrote.

“It’s time to take skills and hard work to a network that appreciates what I offer and, more important, a network that doesn’t look at it’s viewers like they are dumb motherf*ckers that want to watch fake, phoney, staged, scripted, bullish*t.”

A spokesperson for Discovery had “no comment” when RadarOnline.com asked about the the future of James’ show.

But a production insider confirmed its demise, saying: “It wasn’t a personality issue — it was a simple business decision — the ratings for Jesse’s show were very poor.”

Not content with his expletive-laden criticism of the network, a furious James has embarked on a campaign of anger toward Discovery and published a Dec. 2005 letter from Billy Campbell, the former president of Discovery Networks.

In the letter, it’s emerged, Discovery nixed James’ planned trip to Iraq to film for his previous show, Monster Garage, two years after the invasion of the country — and the same year he married Sandra Bullock. The pair split in 2010, when several women claimed to have had affairs with him during the marriage.

“I have been pretty bummed about things ending with Discovery Channel then I re-read this letter the other night,” James told fans, publishing the private communiqué to his Tumblr blog.

In the correspondence, Campbell wrote: “As you are aware, after much deliberation, Discovery Channel decided not to proceed with a build in Iraq because it remains an unstable and dangerous region of the world.

“In addition, I believe that the location is a bad production choice for our brands because of the light-hearted nature of the Monster Garage program and the disturbing events taking place in Iraq.”

The network warned James: “If you decided to travel to Iraq, it’s important that you understand that you do so at your own risk and that DCI is not responsible for your own safety.”

“Figured people should see the real truth,” James said. “FYI, I went (to Irag) anyway. On my own dime.”

But as it turns out, the Discovery-James relationship was tested for years, as Campbell revealed in the letter.

“From time to time, we have had disagreements and I’m very pleased that we have always been able to resolve them amicably,” the television boss wrote.

There’s no word on whether James will attempt to resurrect his program on another network.

[From Radar Online]

Let me get this straight – Jesse is mad because his show got cancelled. So to prove what a badass he is, he published a letter in which one of the producers on his last show, which made him a household name, told him it wasn’t a good idea to film in a country we were at war with at the time. Jesse thinks it’s something to brag about that they told him “no, it’s a bad idea to go to Iraq” and he went anyway. In Jesse’s mind, he still should have won that argument and been allowed to go to Iraq. His stupidity, stubbornness and refusal to listen to reason is something to brag about.

I get that he’s pissed that his show got cancelled, and maybe he had creative differences with producers about staging scenes. That’s not something you air in public! Have some respect for a company that made you a damn millionaire. Discovery made this guy’s career and all he can do is complain and trash them. Talk about having some childish issues with authority.

Oh and FYI Jesse is still with his wife of just over a month, drag racer Alexis DeJoria. He wrote that she was the best thing to ever happen to him, which some outlets interpreted as a dig to Sandra. He said basically the same thing about Kat Von D and look how that turned out.

Katherine Heigl has a new movie coming out, will she be able to make a comeback?

Katherine Heigl has a new movie coming out this week, have you heard? It’s not a good sign that I work as a gossip blogger and this is the first time I’m hearing about it. Or maybe I just tuned it out. The film is called The Big Wedding and (before seeing the trailer) it sounds like the typical romcom stuff she’s known for, only her career has really taken a nosedive post-One for the Money. I was just browsing her IMDB and OFTM was the only film she did last year, and she had just one film, New Year’s Eve, in 2011. In 2010 there were her forgettable films Life as We Know It and Killers (with Ashton Kutcher, lol). So it’s safe to say she’s on a downslide after she so publicly burned her bridges with her both her TV and film bosses.

Along with this wedding movie she has four other films in progress for this year and next, so maybe Heigl shut up long enough to make a comeback of sorts. I doubt her career trajectory would have been as stilted if she behaved like a professional throughout, though. (Update: I neglected to mention that she’s adopted two daughters in the interim too! She adopted daughter Naleigh in 2009 and daugther Adalaide about a year ago. That may be why she’s taking a break too.)

Anyway OK! Magazine has a new video interview with her, and the first thing that impressed me was how young she looks. Heigl hangs out with her mom a lot, and her styling often looks matronly and beyond her years. In her OK interview she is wearing minimal makeup and has wet, slicked back hair. She looks gorgeous and is prettier than I would have imagined. She’s 34 and looks 10 years younger there. It’s just a brief clip of an interview, in which Heigl is asked if she has any wedding planning advice. She tells brides-to-be that they should work to keep their wedding guests apart except for a couple of big events like the rehearsal dinner and wedding party. It’s kind of funny:

Katherine Heigl’s new movie is the epitome of family drama at weddings! The Big Wedding follows the journey of a couple who must pretend to be married for their son’s wedding. “They do everything wrong in this movie in terms of avoiding drama and avoiding the family kind of dysfunction,” Katherine said. She explained how many big weddings are full of pressure and the tension between family members can make be too much. “My advice would be to keep everybody apart as long as possible. One rehearsal dinner and then the wedding the next day. That’s it.” Check out The Big Wedding April 26 and let us know what you think of the star studded film!

[From OK! Magazine]

Here’s the trailer for The Big Wedding. I thought it might be a big flop, but Heigl isn’t carrying this film by any means. It’s got heavyweights Robert De Niro, Susan Sarandon, Diane Keaton, and Robin Williams in it! There’s also Amanda Seyfried, Topher Grace and Ben Barnes. It’s an ensemble film and Heigl is going to be overshadowed by these veterans, which is a good thing. It could do well at the box office and it actually looks funny. I would watch it.

Heigl is shown out on 4-16 and 4-18-13. She’s also shown at Fashion Week in February. Credit: WENN.com and FameFlynet

Bethenny Frankel wears three different swimsuits for the paps in Miami: desperate?

Here we have yet another set of photos of Bethenny Frankel, 42, posing in a bikini in Miami. The last time she invited the paps to a bikini photo op was two months ago in Australia so at least she’s mixing it up a little, even if her MO is pretty obvious. Frankel just had a divorce hearing on Friday, in which she had to face off against her soon-to-be ex, Jason Hoppy. It was some kind of financial disclosure hearing.

The last we heard from Bethenny she was proclaiming that “divorce is the most difficult thing you could go through in your life.” She didn’t qualify it or reference any recent tragedies, but to be fair all the horrible earthquakes, terrorism, and stuff blowing up had yet to happen. (Last week was terrible.) Still, it went to show what a charmed, willfully ignorant life Bethenny lives. She goes on a lot of vacations to mitigate the awful things she has to face in divorce court. Bethenny posed for three sets of swimsuit pics over the weekend. The ones you see here are from Sunday, she had on a zebra print one piece at one point during the day and then changed into a purple string bikini. She wore a green bikini the day before. (Those pics are here.) Here’s more on Bethenny’s hearing and trip:

Sunnier days are ahead. After a chilly meeting with estranged husband Jason Hoppy in a New York City courthouse, Bethenny Frankel was in need of some serious downtime. So when the face-off ended, the Skinnygirl mogul packed a suitcase and took daughter Bryn, 2, down to Miami, Fla., for a little weekend getaway.

Lounging by the pool with her little girl on Sunday, April 21, the 42-year-old talk show host showed off her slim, toned bikini body in a bright purple halter-style top and matching side-tie bottoms. She kept the sun out of her eyes with a wide-brimmed floppy straw hat and aviator sunglasses.

As Us Weekly previously reported, Frankel and her pharmaceutical sales executive ex, 41, reunited in court on Friday, April 19, to discuss financial disclosure with their attorneys. According to E! News, the couple didn’t even acknowledge each other during the meeting.

[From US Weekly]

It must be nice to go to Miami for the weekend and to think the worst thing that can ever happen to someone is a divorce. How does someone reach that opinion? You would have to be seriously self centered to even pay a tiny bit of attention to the news and think that your problems, as a rich lady with incredible resources and options, are worse than everyone else’s in the world.

In terms of how Bethenny looks, I think her figure is enviable, but I know a lot of you see a bag of bones with bolt-ons. You told me so in the last post. She looks pretty hot to me. We wouldn’t be talking about her on a red carpet at some c-lister event and she knows that. That’s why she either wears things that are see-through or goes on vacation and invites the paps. Rinse and repeat.

Oh and I googled “Bethenny Frankel see through” in order to provide some evidence for that, and I found these photos of her at an event for Skinnygirl on Thursday in NY, which I then realized were emailed to us. Of course she wore a dress that revealed her wonky cleavage. Of course.

Ann Curry was on NBC reporting on terror attack: damage control for NBC?

Last week, The NY Times did an extensive piece on Ann Curry’s treatment at NBC just prior to her unceremonious ouster last summer. It was an article by Times staff writer Brian Stetler, who also has a new book out on the Today Show’s PR crisis called Top of the Morning: Inside the Cutthroat World of Morning TV.

Of course Ann got the ultimate revenge when The Today Show tanked in the ratings afterwards and the public saw Matt Lauer as a philandering big bad wolf. There was some attempt at damage control on Matt’s part, particularly when everyone realized that the ratings dip wasn’t temporary, but it was too little too late. The Times article confirmed some statements that Ann made (before she was demoted/fired) about how bosses wanted her to dye her hair and wear sexier clothing. They also mocked her style, comparing her to Toucan Sam and Big Bird. In the Times’ version, Ann was bullied and demeaned at work, and was ultimately let go when she wouldn’t play ball for the old boys’ network. There’s more in that article about the politics and players involved, and its an interesting read.

So it’s telling to me that Ann was finally given some brief screentime on NBC last week. Of course Ann’s demotion was presented to her as a lateral move to more serious news, but she’s barely been seen on NBC since. After the Boston Marathon Bombing she was on NBC briefly, but a source tells Radar this was damage control for that Times piece and book:

Ann Curry reported live on NBC News Friday night, as part of the team covering the capture of Boston marathon bomber, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. it was the first time Curry has been on the Peacock net live in nine months!

“The decision was made to put Annie on air live at last minute with Brian Williams after suspect # 2 was taken into custody. The network wanted to send message in wake of bad p.r. for TODAY show this week, that Annie wasn’t being hidden in a broom closet,” a source close to the situation tells RadarOnline.com exclusively.

Curry was last seen live on air since the July, 2012 mass shooting in Aurora, Colorado.

As RadarOnline.com has been reporting, the explosive new book, Top of the Morning, has documented the terrible treatment Curry received from her co-workers leading up to and even after she was dumped from her TODAY co-anchor spot.

Well I like that this is coming out now, that we’re hearing how horribly Ann was treated. I was hoping for a better career for her, for some kind of serious news position on another network. I believe that her contract change at NBC locked her into this vastly diminished role with them. We’ve heard that she’s trying to move to CNN but that NBC wants to bar her from working for another network for at least six months. So no matter how they try and spin it, they’re still trying to put the screws to Ann. I wasn’t a real fan of her on-air style, but NBC has treated her incredibly unfairly. That seems to be how they’re known for doing business.
